Big Bear banned by Podbean

Dear podcaster:

We have received several complaints about your podcast episodes for violating Podbean's terms with offensive and racist language. You can see in our terms of use that this is not permitted on our platform.

You will not submit any User Content that may be deemed as pornography, defamatory, libelous, obscene, harassing, threatening, incendiary, abusive, racist, offensive, deceptive or fraudulent, encouraging criminal or harmful conduct, or which otherwise violates the rights of the Company or any third party (including any intellectual property rights, privacy rights, contractual or fiduciary rights).

Accordingly, we have locked your account and refunded the annual payment to your card ending in 2379. You will see the refund as a credit approximately 5-10 business days later, depending upon the bank.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

The Podbean Team

My first reaction: WTF is a Podbean? UPDATE: Apparently I have 780,147 Darkstream downloads from Podbean.

My second reaction: it's a good thing UATV subscribers can listen to and download mp3 files directly from the new UATV site.

I am aware the Darkstreams are still available on Podbean. I plan to remove them, but not yet. We'll remove them all when we give MP3 access to the Darkstream on UATV to non-subscribers.

The Ride Never Ends.

That's what I was concerned about - as loaded as Vox's lectures are their propagation is much weaker if YT scrambles audio.
Good to know SDL again found the sound solution.

Vox, in answer to your question, a Podbean is a combination of:

1. Java, the hot computer language of the 1990s.

2. The iPod, the hot consumer product of the oughts.

I hope that helps.

BTW - Went to Google Play to leave a mark in comments.

Dear Beanpod,

It has come to our attention that, in violation of western civilizations traditions of free inquiry and discussion, you have started on a campaign of banning people for reasons far beyond the bounds of illegal (fraud, deception, aiding and abetting or encouraging criminal acts) and have ventured into the realm of banning the expression of opinions which are perfectly legal to hold, discuss and advocate.
As this is obviously a calculated measure on your part, your company, website and traffic his hereby banned from our networks, and will be firewalled.

The [insert Company Name Here] team.

P.S. Don't bother sending us an email in protest. It will bounce, as by the time you are reading this, our network administrator has already added the firewall rule blocking all traffic from your domain.

This is a guerrilla marketing campaign by Podbean, right? "It's _earned_ media! We'll ban people and they'll talk about us!"

Hi Vox,
Would there be a chance of getting RSS feeds for Unauthorized mp3s?

Blogger swiftfoxmark2 May 13, 2020 9:14 AM

The litigation list keeps on growing.

I know these guys are small, but they might be big some day.

Blogger Halibetlector May 13, 2020 9:19 AM

It always surprises me how popular podcasts are. They rank right up there with audiobooks.

Blogger fredulent May 13, 2020 9:27 AM

Podbean is annoying. I use "The Podcast App". Owen Benjamin is on there I just looked. I don't how much of his is there.

Would there be a chance of getting RSS feeds for Unauthorized mp3s?

Probably, although whether it will be for subscribers or for everyone will have to be determined.

Blogger VD May 13, 2020 9:28 AM

The litigation list keeps on growing.

One at a time. Although it does appear we'll be able to move onto the next before the end of the year.

How dare anyone break from the Herd??!!

Blogger MaskettaMan May 13, 2020 9:36 AM

I was wondering when Podbean would make their move...

Never waste the nukes on platoons when there are divisions to go after.

They've probably started the Get Woke Go Broke process too early to ever be big.

Time to download, one star, and delete that app. Bring that 4.7 down.

Blogger Don Vance May 13, 2020 10:27 AM

I would be happy if uatv went free on some stuff that needs to get out. Thanks again VD.

Blogger Manuel May 13, 2020 10:59 AM

I deleted Podbean about 1/2 a year ago. not out of foresight but the content I wanted was already available on other platforms. Thank you for UATV.

As a Java developer now picking up CSharp, I approve this message.

I had been getting the BB mp3 on podbean for a while, it is a bummer he got the axe there. I see he has some content on player fm but not the daily goat transmissions. Hopefully his crew will ramp up there.

Blogger d May 13, 2020 12:30 PM

"Content that may be deemed as ... incendiary, ... or fraudulent, ..."

Equivocating faux pas and felonious; PRICELESS.

"Never waste the nukes on platoons when there are divisions to go after."

As I recal our "Warsaw Pact" doctrine assumed nuking all NATO border patrolls in the first wave "before they can alarm HQs".

Not very practical aproach, but never the less impresive.

Cheers from Poland.

The payment processors are the largest problem from what I've seen, like bitchute for example has had to recover from losing both paypal and stripe.

Blogger Dole May 13, 2020 1:33 PM

So... what is the SJW plan for getting Vox banned from unauthorized?

Blogger Matthew Hopkins (MHN) / Sam Smith May 13, 2020 1:47 PM

I just read this. I confess I have not listened to Big Bear but as a law blogger I am troubled by the contractual term banning content that is, "incendiary" or "offensive". The term is subjective, depending on whom you ask and such content potentially encompasses much of comedy, such as the "Scary Movie" series, most holy books of most faiths and Darwin's On the Origin of Species. Even Google and Twitter do not purport to ban, "offensive" content.

Certainly, completely leaving politics aside and as an IT Consultant that term means I could never recommend Podbean to a customer, since the term, "offensive" is so overbroad that it almost deprives the contract of meaning. You could be banned for almost anything. It is therefore a significant business continuity risk.

So I sent them a media inquiry and will follow up.

Also, it appears some executives may meet the criteria for Depending on what, if anything, they say.

For someone promoting getting married have children believe in God they absolutely hate the man.

Blogger Akulkis May 13, 2020 3:49 PM

"Also, it appears some executives may meet the criteria for Depending on what, if anything, they say."

The company they control is deplatforming. That alone qualifies them to be put on the SJW list.

Blogger michimartini May 13, 2020 6:03 PM

I second this request.
