She turned me into a newt!

Episode 3 of Hypergamouse is now live on Webtoons. Don't forget to subscribe to it, as that is the primary metric there and it will alert you when a new episode is uploaded. As you can see from the screencap taken this morning on the left, the more subscribers, the more the algorithm favors the comic, and the virtuous cycle continues. What is remarkable about that #4 ranking is that the number of episodes for the other top 5 comics range from 95 to 220. AH is on Episode 5.

Also, if you are a UATV Basic subscriber, please check your email. You have been cordially invited to check out the brand new site! We had a minor issue earlier this morning which prevented video playback, but it's been resolved, so please login, change your password, and watch/listen to a video or two. Then let me know how the performance worked for you. Please note this is not an invitation to sperg about nonexist features or demonstrate your awesome technical knowledge; the site is still in Alpha and we're bringing in people gradually to see how well it handles the increasing bandwidth load.

Once we've got all the subscribers invited and using it successfully, we'll move the URL pointers and start transitioning the apps. Iterative design, iterative development.

UPDATE: No Darkstream tonight as I spent the time fixing my streaming software and getting rid of the delay that cropped up recently. Turned out the Nvidea driver needed an update.

I got better...

I love the Pythons. I can quote many memorable lines. Sometimes I even do so to illustrate an absurdity.

It has never occurred to me to quote the Pythons to impress/pick up women.

Does the gamma really believe that women are just like men with different plumbing? I have thought it was probably an act they think will establish their bona fides as "male feminists" , but I have to admit it looks like they get high on their own supply.

Do comments affect the algorithm?

How do we check what level we are with UATV. I subscribed sometime ago. I have never been charged and I don't get any email updates from UATV. I can log in but it does not show me what level subscription I am in.

The Pythons are good, and very funny.
The gammaness lies not on liking the Pythons, but in believing that repeating their jokes makes YOU funny.
Quoting them with your friends who also like the Pythons to bring a smile of recollection to their faces is fine, (as would be any quotation of a shared interest) as long as you don't think it shows how smart and funny you are.
It's like thinking you are wise because you quote Tolkien, or a great Christian apologist because you quote C.S. Lewis.

Gammas probably do really believe that women are just like men with different plumbing. They've had that exact lie preached to them every day of their life, and lacking much real experience with women, plus having a greater than normal ability to suppress cognitive dissonance and lie to themselves, they don't have a real reason to doubt what they've been told by society.

I have never been charged

Then you're not subscribed.

UATV 2.0 seems to work ...

*To realize they aren't, you would first have to pay attention to other people, and be able to correctly interpret their expressions and reactions.
*To do that stuff, you would first have to get them to pay enough attention to you that you get some reactions to interpret.
*To get that attention, you would first have to not look or talk or act or smell too weird - get your appearances right.

Very penetrating insight into the present state of Overwatch and its fanbase. The outfit made me laugh.

The AH ep5 comments are entertaining, I wonder if/how Webtoons does moderation.

Plumbing has nothing to do with it man. Monty Python quotes are funny in Monty Python. Period. The end.

Some putz who can't think of a joke on his own and then "treats" you to an impromptu recitation of someone else's catchphrase deserves nothing but scorn. From everyone. On earth.

And yes, for the record, I am a woman. Also let the record state that my husband feels even more strongly annoy this than I do. And that was how I knew he was a keeper!

This is going to be a fun ride

Most gammas are convinced women are an unholy combination of porn "actresses", traffic cops, and the xenomorphs from Aliens, by turns alluring, irritating, and terrifying.

Any news on iOS apps?

Blogger VD May 12, 2020 6:51 PM

No, we'll get the Roku and Android apps transitioned before we worry about iOS, especially since they still aren't approved for the old site.

I got on the new site as a basic subscriber got on & it works great. Audio only is a great feature. Hope to see Medieval 101 make the migration.

Does the gamma really believe that women are just like men with different plumbing?

Like written before, yes. But to be fair, it's a common failing of humans to incorrectly try to apply their own experiences to situations and concepts where it doesn't apply. So to an extent all men do this. The unique part about Gammas is where they reject the reality around them far more readily than other types, so it's far more obnoxious.

I was about to say Gammas are more likely to fall into a Madonna-whore binary mindset in regards to women, but then I realized I was wrong and that was an Omega position.

Blogger Doktor Jeep May 13, 2020 12:06 AM

The protagonist of Hypergamouse seems more like an omega. A gamma would try harder to look better.
The last gamma I knew - and thankfully watched as he was ingloriously let go for basically making an entire company miserable - was in his fifties, drove a Corvette, wore skinny jeans, and had braces.
With omegas you get the extremes: the fat neckbeareded pattern-balded-with-ponytail and overwatch shirt. Or you get the ripped but creepy gym/activity rat who reminds you of Reese from Terminator who might get a sympathy screw once or twice in a lifetime.

Roku app in Canada is definitely what I am looking forward to; it was a great disappointment that it did not work after getting my hopes up from the email announcement.
I would much prefer to watch with my brother in the shared living room space, where he already passively consumes less useful Youtube content

The character designs are great, very engaging. I'm curious to see if the gamma is the protagonist or the woman giving him advice is. If it's the gamma, that will be funny, but if it's the woman, that might give potential for a wider range of subject matter, and the title could refer to her...
