Ahead of the curve

As seen on Socialgalactic:
"Cities are done."
- Scott Adams, 1 June 2020

Scott Adams sure is ahead of the curve. And that curve is donkeys that suffer from severe mental retardation. What clued you in Scott? The nationwide race riots only in cities? Or the fact cold and flu season can shut down all commerce for months? Scott Adams thinks he’s crushing it because he gets his info from Fox AND CNN.
- The Big Bear
I liked Scott Adams a lot better when he simply commented on the corpocracy with cartoons. This ridiculous social Nostradamus routine of his is both tedious and unconvincing. I mean, how impressed is anyone supposed to be that he predicted Trump was going to win before he predicted Trump was going to lose before he predicted Trump was going to win again?

I could not care less about who predicted it, I just want it made clear to city dwellers: you made this feces-encrusted, disease-riddled, now-aflame bed, even endlessly sang its praises, so now lie in it, to the very end.

Blogger Pencil Maestro June 02, 2020 6:20 AM

He reminds me of the gematria guys, or Jordan Peterson for that matter. Never makes a real prediction and never commits to a statement or an attitude. Secret kings can never be wrong.

Dilbert was great back in the day, really summed up the 90s office experience. But time has moved on and Scott is passed his use by date.

V.D.’s predictions are the only ones I listen to.

Scott Adams is an ok guy, but he’s just that. He’s like Styx. Not a horrible person, but also a bit of a goober. Occasionally funny, sometimes obnoxious
Thank God for Vox, Milo, even Tucker Carlson.

Blogger Colonel Blimp June 02, 2020 6:35 AM

His proclamations are a bit basic. Cities were done when they became a strange mix of corporate excess and feral holding cells both supporting each other in odd ways while draining resources and human capital from elsewhere. And i dont mean they ended in the 1980s...you could argue the 1880s were it not for a high level of order under a Christian, homogeneous ideal despite what demographics were present.

Globalism destroys that fragile ecosystem. The double whammy of foreign plagues AND foreign peoples themselves, native or otherwise, destabilizes the economy and limited order while agitators fan a perpetual hatred for everyone and anyone.

Expect the burbs to blow up into 90s style cities before crashing themselves. I fully expect rural, small town alliances to form against an essentially urban zombie horde that is desperate for continued parasitivism. How that shakes out will tell how the state of worldwide civilization goes for centuries.

Blogger Avalanche June 02, 2020 6:43 AM

Still, his "simultaneous sip" is brilliant marketing. Part Mister Rogers, part Svengali...

For those not in the know: he welcomes his audience in and ... molds them ... into a group by urging them to all participate in taking a sip of their own delightful beverage simultaneously, as a group, with him. Pretty clevah!

Blogger Sillon June 02, 2020 6:52 AM

Adams, Peterson, and others I'm forgetting about are like the proverbial flute playing donkey from the classic Spanish fable, but a bit in reverse.

Some one left out a flute lying around on a log, one of those guys (donkey) one good day inadvertently blows on it producing a beautiful and pleasant set of initial musical notes.

Those notes resonate with the right minded, the right liking what they hear confuse the accidentally produced notes for a beautiful melody then thinking those charlatans are people of the right capable of writing a political symphony that counters the left's narrative and worth following.

Until the mask fall off that is, and the truth is revealed, they are just a donkey who made a flute play something by accident.

Blogger Sillon June 02, 2020 7:02 AM

THE DONKEY AND THE FLUTE

Flung into a field a long time ago, a Flute lay soundless, until one day a passing Donkey blew into it, bringing forth the sweetest sound of its life--that is to say, of the Donkey's life and the Flute's life too.
Incapable of understanding what had happened, since rationality was not their forte and both believed in rationality, they hurriedly separated, abashed by this finest thing that either had ever done during its doleful existence.

Big Bear would love this stuff.

Here's where Adams lost me....and maybe I was late to the party, so shoot me....but his podcast from a couple days ago he referred to the rioting as "protest theater".....this was the same day the guy in Dallas who was trying to protect his shop got the crap beaten out of him by "protestors".....and this was amplified in a podcast a day or two later when the "protestors" burned down some stores near his hometown....I guess when it's guys in Dallas getting sent to the ICU it's "protest theater" but when in it's in his backyard, well now, this is a SERIOUS MATTER. Typical gated community lib who doesn't give a shit unless it affects them

Blogger Wayne June 02, 2020 7:40 AM

Adams is not ahead of the curve. I view him as more of a lagging indicator for the left. The riots have accomplished turning someone who would be predisposed to be sympathetic to their cause into giving up on civic nationalism. When he now talks about never hiring black people again out loud, that's not a good sign for the left.

Blogger Damelon Brinn June 02, 2020 8:07 AM

Donchaknow that it's the big blue cities that generate all the wealth?

Exactly. We've been hearing for years that the cities provide everything worthwhile, and us "rural retards" are just along for the ride. Well, let them fix their own problems then. We wouldn't want to offend them with our backwards methods.

There's always a fair bit of gunfire in my neighborhood, between target shooting and hunting, but last night it was almost comical. And a friend's son said the grocery store he works at was closing early to move all their outdoor displays inside where they couldn't be looted or used to break into the store. People are staying prepared, even here 200 miles from the nearest likely jogging outbreaks.

Slightly OT: Social media has reached peak virtue signaling (if that was possible) with content creators swearing off social media for #BlackOutTuesday. Because it's important or something.

Scott Adams has managed to concentrate and essentialize the behavior of social media grifters into a generic gray soup.

Bland takes served fresh as casu marzu, taking advantage of the format to dunk on people, and blocking anyone who wins against him be it rhetoric or dialectic.

He is NPC: Twitter and Periscope edition.

Blogger tuberman June 02, 2020 8:18 AM

Scott has always reminded me of a very arrogant lefty professor. That one lefty professor who thinks he's even smarter than all the other lefty professors. He is (sometimes) at odds with the Narrative to show he's a cut above. Barf!

2 years ago we sold our downtown home to move 2 counties away into our tiny, ancient, run down, weekend, down the road from the ocean, "beach shack" that we bought 18 years ago. Best move we ever made. It's on the beach island, so it's basically a small town with a moat around it. Easily defendable with a small armed group at the bridge and shores. It blessedly also has a critical mass of pickup truck drivers, many with gun racks. (A factor essential to civilized life in the south). For years I felt increasingly uneasy as the downtown outside of our old house's immediate neighborhood became increasingly edgy, dirty, and non Caucasian. It was a great place to live and work in the 80s through the late 90s, but no more. I hope that I will not live to see "gentrification" and an influx of people fleeing New York and Jersey destroy this area too.

Blogger StrongCoffee61 June 02, 2020 8:32 AM

gobankingrates.com has an analysis included in an article titled This is the Cost of Living comfortably in America's 50 largest cities.

Here's a little sample. Income needed minus real income.

New York City -$44,476
Minneapolis -$24,901
San Francisco -$36,167
Miami -$53,459
San Jose -$9,128
Seattle -$14,790
Portland -$20,974
Washington D.C.-$17,876

And,
Virginia beach +$151

Virginia Beach is a Republican city and the only one above water. However, its demographic changes will doom it in time.

One positive of the current cultural Marxist festival is that it will encourage the big jawed little brained people and their handlers to stay in the cities awaiting the next riot party and free shopping extravaganza.

C'mon, do people on here expect EVERYONE to be Machiavelli? St. Augustine? Martin Van Creveld?

Vox Day?

Contempt is easy. Sweeping condemnations and over the top generalizations take zero intellectual effort.

Having a clear eyed understanding of usefulness, however, requires the ability to take a -- what's the word I am looking for? -- oh, that's right: a Christian view of love for our fellow man, despite all his flaws.

Scott Adams has served a very important purpose in that he explained, with some perspicacity, the reasons why Donald Trump is in the White House, and he did so to people who were genuinely puzzled and confused as to how a Queens reality TV star became the leader of the United States.

And don't start mouthing off with comparisons to Jordan Peterson. Peterson is psychopath. Adams is a reasonably sane guy, and pretty successful entrepreneur who is by all reckoning a nice person.

But like a lot of nice people, normal people, for Scott, a true profound understanding of what is happening now is beyond his intellectual capacity.

Despite all his money -- rightly earned -- and his hot girlfriend (who seems to be quite intelligent), he’s out of his depth now. The irony of course is that that the man who touts that cognitive dissonance prevents us from seeing reality, is himself now a prisoner of that very same cognitive dissonance.

Blogger Don Vance June 02, 2020 9:24 AM

I liked Scott Adams when he described creating your own reality filters in his book win bigly. I derived the concept to creating my own multiple realities and had a lot of fun with it.

His next book, loser think, i could not finish. He picked a horrible title that seemed to go against his own philosophy of the power of suggestion. I just didn't feel the power in this book.

I still listen to Scott's stream for a filter on the news. I cannot stand main stream news and prefer a filtering agent like Scott. But I have to admit he is my secondary go to guy b/c of his far left mind control agenda. I suppose my favorite current event news filters these days are BB, VD and Stefan M.

"People are staying prepared, even here 200 miles from the nearest likely jogging outbreaks."

They won't be invading the burbs, let alone rural areas, anytime soon. There's plenty of opportunistic looting by joggers but the main violence is happening in urban centers aimed at high profile cultural assets to generate maximum media coverage. Dindu looters have zero interest in facing armed homeowners when they can loot all the flat screen TVs they want with impunity and the Antifag/BLM mobs are performing for the cameras. The blue cities are safe zones with an amenable authority either turning a blind eye or actively cooperating with the rioters.

Blogger Sean June 02, 2020 9:26 AM

I don't mind Scott Adams too much - I quite like his Dilbert cartoons and they were especially great back in the day. In think he's fairly mainstream, on the left-side of politics, but fairly intelligent. I don't feel much gamma vibes but that's just me.

I think like Michael Moore, he's seeing how the his brand of politics is ruining nations. Whether they are completely at grips with this, I'm not sure.

To me it appears that Adams is trying to convince the ones who live in the media bubble.

He is expectedly failing at the unfruitful exercise, and it would not be surprising if he abandons the cause soon. The language on his latest update on the riots is quite strong, although he still at least pretends to not understand what is going on.

Blogger Unknown June 02, 2020 9:37 AM

I like the Dilbert comics, and his books were great, as they enabled me to understand the corporate management structure I used to work in. His Win Bigly (I think) did explain his support/non support of Trump, (he was in fear for his life from lefty/crazy types, and had no ability to get into a self defense mindset). Cognitive dissonance is a real thing, and he is a great indicator of it coming home to roost on the left.

He admits to being a relatively average guy who isn't great at anything, but can do several things reasonably well enough that he was able to stack those together and achieve success. It's a different approach to success, and I appreciated it. As he himself admits, though, he's mostly just average. I used to listen to his livestreams, don't much anymore. Famous magician Darren Brown once predicted the winning Lottery numbers. That sounds impressive only if you don't know he did it after the Lottery announced them themselves.
