The War for the Midnight World
Bounding Into Comics notes the release of MIDNIGHT'S WAR:
There will be two more episodes released prior to June 30th, which is when the short story contest ends. MIDNIGHT'S WAR is already one of the ten most popular entries in the Brain category, so it appears to have a decent shot at winning one of the prizes.
There is already serious studio interest in a series of movies based on MIDNIGHT'S WAR. The Legend and I have discussed working together on a regular monthly comic set in the Midnight World, but first we have to figure out how to support that as I don't wish to do any more crowdfunding campaigns until we deliver AH, AH:Q, and the Junior Classics.
Speaking of the first two series, the Avalon 1-6 omnibus is nearly ready, AH #7 and AH:Q #3 are also rapidly approaching release.
Some of the early reactions to MIDNIGHT'S WAR:
Vox Day’s Arkhaven Comics recently released a brand new vampire thriller series titled Midnight’s War. The series was released on the popular Web Toons platform and will consist of four episodes. The first episode titled “Not Even The Wicked Dead” was released on June 24th and Vox informs Bounding Into Comics the second episode will be released on June 26th.The first two episodes of MIDNIGHT'S WAR are live:
The series is set in the distant future following an economic crisis that sees the vampire tribes come out of hiding in an attempt to take control of the Earth and humanity. They usurp Earth’s institutions including their media and governments and establish a new world order under the Great Concord of Gomorrah.
This new world order demanded humans provide a certain amount of blood to the vampire authorities every year.
However, while most of humanity might have fallen to the vampires and their new world, there are some humans who actively resist the vampires and in fact some human blood was not palatable to the vampires.

Some of the early reactions to MIDNIGHT'S WAR:
- It's amazing to see how the art has improved in Arkhaven Comics as they develop the projects.
- This needs to be made into a movie ASAP.... The setup here is what makes this extra-creepy.
- That final panel needs to be a poster!
- Incredible potential with this.
- This is the best product around.
- The level of art is far above mainline comics, you can actually tell what kind of pistol he carries.
- Love the hero design, it makes me want to be a knight myself.

Thank you for the good news SDL.
You have an incredibly good comic and storyline here. It speaks to the battle of good vs evil on a visceral level. I will back the project and films whatever route you ultimately take with funding.
The Sig P229 is an awesome weapon.
The art is true quality, and the level of detail on the Sig was great. The premise of the story is very good as well.
I will say that I was surprised to see Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake get waxed so soon in the series.
Love it, hope theres an eventual omnibus for this series as well!
"Twelve is all we need." I chuckled when I read that. The series is coming along nicely.
This was really good Vox
Is it idiotic (or just female) to say I reached the end of issue 2 in tears? Having spent the morning reading of the destruction around of our nation, this funny little comic makes hope bubble up. How can this be?
Vox Day: Q is not only, not even by a long shot, the best or only morale raiser.
Vampire tribes. What a meme!
This. All those conservatives with their tweets turned into books preaching to the choir. Instead, with this we have heros who don't scoff at God. They are heroic. They are the "good guys". This will do more to help with the culture war than a 1,000 Democrats are the real x BS. This is where the real fight is.
I would love to support this, it looks great. Hopefully we will get an omnibus for this as well.
Here is why this is so important. Art scales up and down. Got a higher IQ, you can think more about the implications. Are pretty dumb, you can still enjoy it and resonate with the message. This is why the Bible is filled with stories and proverbs. Aquinas was great- but I would argue that the reach of the Sistine Chapel was profoundly greater.
Thank you for the update. I very much want to see AH:Q #3.
Congrats Vox. This is great work. Spreading the word to anyone who will listen.
Didn't realize Chicago Typewriter finished on 6/21. I guess it doesn't make sense for every comic episode to get a blogpost.
Hope it does well in the contest. Read it and upvote!
"you can actually tell what kind of pistol he carries" well that indicates a huge improvemnt on the first forays of arkhaven into the space. Congrats
Well done Dark Lord!
Enjoyed the jeu de mots riffing on John Milton's "When I Consider How My Light is Spent."
Milton: "They also serve who only stand and wait."
Midnight: "You also serve, who hang upside down and bleed."
People are talking about the art, but what I notice is you're really starting to nail comicbook storytelling. Getting very lean, with direct action and indirect information.
Very good stuff, art work is brilliant and the writing is great too. Loved this line "Not even the wicked dead can raise a corpse without a head." Tremendous.
@12 The power of art is real, which is why it is so fiercely controlled, and why even the smallest corners must be fought over it destroyed by the oligarchs.
Make Ours Arkhaven.
if you did make a film of this, you wouldn't have to work very hard to do a better job than that daybreakers movie in 2009
I like the ironic rendering unto Caesar from Caesar's minions, using the minions' blood to pay taxes for others. Too bad they rendered their souls unto another master, but they can try explaining that to the Eternal Judge.
This series hits hard, like a stake in the heart, with good text (dialectic and rhetoric) and awesome graphical rhetoric.
Loved this!
I remember some time back that you asked for ideas for new novels/comics/books etc. Is this one of them? If so great!
The following is an idea I have had. Of course I won’t be surprised if you’ve heard versions of the following idea before but here goes anyway.
A Sci-fi based on three distinct metaphysics.
1) Materialism/atomism/naturalism.
2) Hylemorphism (good old Aristotle and co.) and the hierarchy of being.
3) Panpsychism.
The Marvel comics to me lacked grounding in any interesting metaphysics. It looked like a mishmash of materialistic scientism coupled with an incomplete hierarchy of being e.g. beings in the quantum realm all the way up to the powerful godlike beings sprinkled with some panpsychist ideas.
This sci-fi story follows the creation and development of three distinct cultures in different parts of the universe. It starts by setting the scene of each culture, building the environment and detailing (based on proper understanding of metaphysics e.g. being and change) the development of each culture in how the people of each culture developed their metaphysics, technology and culture. I think elements of the current Marvel universe can be used to build the story of the Materialists/atomists/naturalists. They reach their peak and the story for them ends (returning to it later).
Then another similarly entertaining storyline is used to describe the development of the Hylemorphists and the Panpsychists in their own part of the universe. Basically the current Marvel universe times 3 with each culture reaching the peak of their development. The peak is based on hashing out the logical consequences of their metaphysics. Each culture has its own heroes and villains.
The science, technology, weapons, laws etc. of each culture flow from their respective metaphysics.
Just to give an idea of how these cultures differ, consider how each culture views change (how things change over time).
The materialists view change as the rearrangements fundamental particles in a void or quantum vacuum. Change is also completely dysteleological.
The hylemorphists view change as the reduction of potentiality to actuality by something actual and change is differentiated into substantial change (crudely speaking, prime matter change form) and accidental change (changes happening to a substance).
For the panpsychist all aspects of being have mind-like properties. All their concepts of “matter” include some aspect of “mind” and it is the “mental activity” of their “matter” that is the ultimate cause/source of change.
The first three instalments hash out the development of their respective metaphysics, of course action packed with many sub plots.
The fourth instalment is based how these three distinct cultures start to become aware of each other followed by interactions and epic battles between them.
Hopefully some talented writer already started out with something similar so that I can watch a Sci-fi that isn’t Hollywood-stupid.
I remember some time back that you asked for ideas for new novels/comics/books etc.
That never, ever, happened. Ideas for new projects are literally the last thing I need.
OT:
I don't know if anyone has seen this yet, because it is not covered elsewhere.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-administration-asks-supreme-court-strike-down-obamacare-amid-pandemic-n1232203
There was a rare midnight filing of this at the Supreme Court to get rid of ObamaCare.
It showed up at 11:30 pm last night at Citizens Free Press.
>>Ideas for new projects are literally the last thing I need<<
Indeed. Now a time dilator on the other hand... cappuccino has its limits after all.
That never, ever, happened. Ideas for new projects are literally the last thing I need.
No matter how many times you explicitly tell the "idea guys" to go away, they always flock in the hopes of getting free stuff.
VD: That never, ever, happened. Ideas for new projects are literally the last thing I need.
Hah, well that is a good thing. Keep up the good work.
(((Studio interest))))? Is it possible to deal with a (((studio))) and not ruin this great thing you have going?
Stilicho, shouldn't we start off with some clones of the SDL, and get BB to force them to work on all the extra stuff the SDL cannot get to? Revenge for the goat skins, and more books to read for us!

Chicago Typewriter would make a great series, live-action or animated. The premise is awesomely chilling.
Midnight's War is my new favorite.
Most Arkhaven comics have left me cold, but so far I'm really enjoying Midnight’s War.
Arkhaven's Comics were expected by me from the beginning to do fantastic, and so far they are out performing even those over-the-top expectations. Constant flow of online gifts.
This is a great comic! Well done SDL! Your knowledge of history and politics is going to make for an epic series. Vampires in the future being hunted by knights is magnificent! I like the characters and the one liners that you wrote are cool.
Absolutely brilliant.

I was gutted when it finished... Left me wanting more. Always good.
>> (((Studio interest))))? Is it possible to deal with a (((studio))) and not ruin this great thing you have going?
No.
In a contract, they will agree to present the material accurately, and then, 30 paragraphs later, insert a sentence saying that the studio and the director have absolute, complete artistic control (which includes the plot of the story itself).
"((Studio interest))))? Is it possible to deal with a (((studio))) and not ruin this great thing you have going?"
Mel Gibson .
Wow! Vox.
And you are just beginning to hit your stride.
Creative Powerhouse thy name is Arkhaven.
God bless.
This is where wars are won; in the hearts of men

... is not (((Mel Gibson)))

America has a sin problem. Every other problem we have as a nation stems from this evil resident in our hearts. We all share it. As the Bible says, "There is no one righteous, no, not one." Sinning is exciting. It's fun. We do what we want. We do what we please. We justify our every action. We twist God's word to approve whatever we desire. We celebrate our sin. We encourage others to join in. Having left God behind us, we have become as recorded in the letter to the Romans, "Foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless." While God patiently gives us time to reconsider and repent, we heap our sins up to Heaven thinking we will never be held to account. We are wrong. To each of us this dreadful warning, "The wages of sin is death." Do you think you'll escape this payment from Heaven by doing some exemplary deed(s)? Think again, the Bible clearly warns, "All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags." How can you stand before a righteous God? Do you think He'll be pleased with your recitation of your self-delusion? There is but one recourse. It is not will power. It is not good wishes or intent. It is not self-help, or pointing fingers at the sin of others, or political action. The only way forward is as Jesus spoke when he opened his ministry, "Repent and believe the good news!"
Browsing the contest submissions, Midnight's War sticks out like a sore thumb amid all the gay degenerate trash. There's no way it isn't at least a silver winner. I'm really hoping to get that animated short promised to the grand prize winner!
Also OT
Men of the Order, this is our hour. Stand as the salt of the earth calling out sin, calling for repentance, calling for revival.
Our nation is assaulted on all sides by foes seeking our spiritual defeat. It is withering. Look at the caving and confusion. Stand up and lift up the name of Jesus in whatever is your way. Shine your light. I would that you were better trained and more instructed, but this moment is upon us. Our Lord needs us to stand now so our nation is not swept away. By God’s grace may we be today a spiritual Rourke’s Drift.
Deus Vult
There can be only one
Another mouthwatering episode!
The writing and artwork are excellent. It's always good when I want to know more about the characters.
