The Promethean playbook

The Atlantic is literally spelling it out for those who are too slow to recognize the obvious pattern of a color revolution playing out:
What the United States is witnessing is less like the chaos of 1968, which further divided a nation, and more like the nonviolent movements that earned broad societal support in places such as Serbia, Ukraine, and Tunisia, and swept away the dictatorial likes of Milošević, Yanukovych, and Ben Ali.

And although Trump’s time in office will end with an election and not an ouster, it is only possible to grasp the magnitude of what we’re seeing and to map what comes next by looking to these antecedents from abroad.

As in the case of many such revolutions, two battles are being waged in America. One is a long struggle against a brutal and repressive ideology. The other is a narrower fight over the fate of a particular leader. The president rose to power by inflaming racial tensions. He now finds his own fate enmeshed in the struggle against police brutality and racism.

The most important theorist of nonviolent revolutions is the late political scientist Gene Sharp. A conscientious objector during the Korean War who spent nine months in prison, Sharp became a close student of Mahatma Gandhi’s struggles. His work set out to extract the lessons of the Indian revolt against the British. He wanted to understand the weaknesses of authoritarian regimes—and how nonviolent movements could exploit them. Sharp distilled what he learned into a 93-page handbook, From Dictatorship to Democracy, a how-to guide for toppling autocracy.

Sharp’s foundational insight is embedded in an aphorism: “Obedience is at the heart of political power.” A dictator doesn’t maintain power on his own; he relies on individuals and institutions to carry out his orders. A successful democratic revolution prods these enablers to stop obeying. It makes them ashamed of their complicity and fearful of the social and economic costs of continued collaboration.

Sharp posited that revolutionaries should focus first on the regime’s softest underbelly: the media, the business elites, and the police. The allegiance of individuals in the outer circle of power is thin and rooted in fear. By standing strong in the face of armed suppression, protesters can supply examples of courage that inspire functionaries to stop carrying out orders, or as Sharp put it, to “withhold cooperation.” Each instance of resistance provides the model for further resistance. As the isolation of the dictators grows—as the inner circles of power join the outer circle in withholding cooperation—the regime crumbles.

This is essentially what transpired in Ukraine in 2014. When the country’s president backed away from plans to join the European Union, a crowd amassed in Kyiv’s central square, the Maidan. The throngs initially had no avowed intention or realistic hope of overthrowing the kleptocratic president, Viktor Yanukovych. But instead of letting the demonstrators shout themselves hoarse in the thick of subfreezing winter, Yanukovych set about violently confronting them. This tactic backfired horribly. A movement with limited aims became a full-blown revolution.
Essentially... there is the key tell that assures us the writer knows he is misleading his readers. The Maidan protesters were not "violently confronted" by the Yanukovych regime, they were murdered by mercenaries in the employ of the people who were pulling their strings, the very same people who are now pulling the strings of BLM and Antifa in the USA's own would-be color revolution.

That's why there are now anti-sniper snipers in position around the White House and other protest locations. They are not there to shoot the protesters, they are there to prevent the puppets from being publicly sacrificed by the puppetmasters.

The "divide and conquer" playbook of these demonic scam artists is unsurprisingly consistent. I supported Ukrainian independence, only to be fooled, like the SNP in Scotland, the "nationalists" just want be controlled by Brussels, not London or Moscow.

Blogger Gallant June 06, 2020 12:29 PM

It's kind of daft how people keep bringing up India's independence and framing it in terms of US 'civil rights'. The heart of it was Hindu Nationalists pushing out a minority foreign clique (many straight up nationalists doing nationalist groundwork, amongst whom Ghandi was a weirdo doing theatrics).

American nationalists kicking out hollywood and dual-citizens, then ceding Louisiana and some of the SouthWest would have more in common with Indian Independence (and partition) than anything coming out of MLK or BLM.

Blogger Barbarossa June 06, 2020 12:29 PM

The other interesting tell is the unstated presumption that votes don't count unless they are the correct ones. Hence, TGE is an authoritarian placed in power without legitimate democratic sanction.

As for Sharp's influence, let's listen to an Egyptian: "Not only was Mubarak's foreign policy hated and despised by the Egyptian people, but parallels were always drawn between the situation of the Egyptian people and their Palestinian brothers and sisters. The latter have been the major source of inspiration, not Gene Sharp, whose name I first heard in my life only in February after we toppled Mubarak already and whom the clueless NYT moronically gives credit for our uprising."

What I can't fathom is why the Prometheans think this will help them with the November election.

I suppose they could be trying to provoke a violent crack down by the GE, but at this point I'm not sure that would really hurt him, it might actually help him.

The only other thing I can think of, is that they plan such a colossal amount of vote fraud, that they need things like the Pandemic and Civil Unrest to cover for it.

His work set out to extract the lessons of the Indian revolt against the British. He wanted to understand the weaknesses of authoritarian regimes—and how nonviolent movements could exploit them.

Always learning the wrong lesson because they refuse to look honestly at history. Ghandi could've carried on with his shtick for years and the Brits would have just endlessly "negotiated" their withdraw. What really drove their precipitate exit from the sub-continent was the spiraling violence between Hindu and Muslim. And even though that same sectarian enmity has brought the world closer to a nuclear war than any other recent event, it can't be mentioned, for fairly obvious reasons.

It's no wonder the liars are spinning into overdrive. They have to have some inkling of how bad things are going to get for them once people realize the extent of their deception. Now they're just clinging to the back of the tiger for all they're worth, but the tiger will eventually eat them. A statement like, "The president rose to power by inflaming racial tensions," really drives it home, considering how much they publicly worship Obama.

The insanity of the current crisis would be incapacitating to the rational without knowledge of the calculations which undergird the enemies of God and man.

First we have a Democrat game plan to impede our great POTUS through any means possible. The Russia story, the special counsel, the impeachment, the Wuhan Virus hysteria, and now exploitation of a criminal's d at to cry their favorite slander, "racist!"

Second we have the deep state cabal of politicians, General & Flag Officers willing to lie and accuse Donald Trump of crimes that he did not commit nor ponder. The officers stand in violation of the UCMJ but believe their prominence will protect them.

Third we have the moderate public that has been shamed,, brainwashed, and attacked until they find it easier to accept the decades old lie that the US is inherently racist, evil, etc. These are the people who listen to MSM, Think Generals are heroes (except Flynn of course) and who most politicos believe will decide the 2020 election. This summer is about convincing them that Orange Man Bad, and resistance is futile.

So Trump must do what he does, campaign, hold rallies, get out and meet the people. Show positive energy and that he cares about America. The Patriots will win the vote and return Trump to the White House, keep the Senate and hopefully retake the House.

I don't know if the Dems are just planning to let Biden lose, or if they'll shake things up and pick someone more competent. I don't believe that will matter. Victory is at hand and we must fight for another win!

There is an important piece he did not mention see Libya. When it looks like the protesters would loss the us military intercede. Color revolutions are just do what we want or we will kill you hidden behind the lie of democracy incarnated by the job performing on tv.

Fortunately the people of the lie start with themselves. They attempted to counter the order for the troops to go to the plaza an attempt to over rule the president's order that was nakedly a coup attempt. They failed because they shut on whites on men on the military on Christ and on virtue all things the tip of the spear hold dear.

Without violence to back their threats they are impotent. Fake trump shooting one protestor and he can simply switch to gunning down thousands and show he has power and they do not. When you are the strong horse people find excuses and suddenly optics automatically support you.

the atlantic piece is total bullshit. this black riot isn't about ideology. it isn't about the left/right/socialism/capitalism/freedom/tyranny. Its about blacks noticing white people are becoming more cuckier by the day and deciding to seize more of their resources. blacks are putting "black owned business signs" on their windows for a reasons. the fact that the white race in the usa hasn't developed a racial conscience and simply has decided to feed a few whites to the black and antifa mob to cal them down isn't a secret. what it also isn't a secret is that appeasement of these people will never work and more and more white will be thrown to the black/latino whatever gutter. whites simply are not a community and are not unified and that is clearly obvious for all the other races to see. more will come since the weakness of the white americans will invite more abuse from the non white ones.

Personally, I think the cabal/Black Hats saw an opportunity to tie off a huge loose end in the form of Floyd.

The main question is what level did the order come down from. Watching the video one definitely gets the sense Chauvin was leading a hit team of dirty MPD cops.

The other big question is did the cabal pre-plan the graphic footage of Floyd's death or was that something they seized on in the moment. Answering that helps us understand their level of reasoning and planning capabilities.

"Democratically," they say. Which is of course absolutely meaningless.

What is it about Trump? He not only makes them out themselves; He makes them make themselves criminals.

@6- Literally millions of people have died in the ongoing Hindu-Muslim struggle. MILLIONS! Not that we know about it, because you can only partially blame white people.

A great share of which came in the aftermath of the partition of Hindoostan. For which Great Britain gets little blame, at least in popular history. Because Perfidious Albion knows its game.

Even when it loses, it manages to lose other people into literal graves and the historical grave alike.

Blogger tublecane June 06, 2020 8:45 PM

@8- But Obama is blackish. Even if he measurably (in crime stats) raises "racial tensions," that still counts as normalcy. White people waking up to racial politics is abnormal, and therefore counts as a *raising* of tension.

I was watching a documentary on Michael Jordan, which for no good reason featured a segment on a Jesse Helms campaign commercial about affirmative action. It featured a clip of disappointed Tom Brokaw, NBC news, informing us that on the eve of possibly the first election of a black man to whatever office since blah-blah-blah, the Republican went explicitly racial. Which isn't actually true, because the ad was about affirmative action, not "vote for me because white." Admittedly, it's indirectly a call for racial unity in the white vote. But I'm playing by Tom Brokaw Concerned-Face rules.

Is it even possible the black candidate didn't make a thing of himself being black? Or was his face alone enough implication?

Doesn't matter. For you see, a white candidate cannot run against affirmative action. At least not against a black opponent. And probably not at all. Because affirmative action is racial, and whites cannot racial, because that upsets the prevailing order.

I wonder if the same logic applied when Jim Crow was established law. Would running against pro-white legislation constitute raising racial tensions? Or is the way it works the same as everything else, wherein it's only racist if white people are doing it?

This is all of course to overlook the fact that there was nothing racist about Trump's campaign. This coming from someone who wishes it had been, because Team White has to get its act together.

Blogger tublecane June 06, 2020 8:54 PM

"A dictator doesn’t maintain power on his own; he relies on individuals and institutions to carry out his orders. "

Interesting to see left-liberals make this claim, because they typically excuse atrocities by certain regimes on the basis that there was a brutal dictator. Beria and Kaganovich, who were responsible for millions of deaths, are magically absolved of responsibility on the basis that Stalin was a dictator. Odd how that principle is invoked in some cases but not others.

"Sharp posited that revolutionaries should focus first on the regime’s softest underbelly: the media, the business elites, and the police"

Haven't read this guy's work, but what about the case where the ethnic group that runs the media also constitutes the business elite and the main source of money for political parties?

Take Honduras, a pretty crappy country whose economy is largely in the hands of 5 Sephardic families. They own the media, banks, etc etc. There is no way that the government is either independent of them or 'stronger' than them.

Blogger Jim the Curmudgeon June 06, 2020 9:01 PM

@1 "I supported Ukrainian independence, only to be fooled, like the SNP in Scotland, the "nationalists" just want be controlled by Brussels, not London or Moscow."

Indeed, I recall being in Ukraine in 2015, talking with locals about politics. They were uniformly pro-EU, convinced that it was a democratic and just institution. They didn't like it very much when I told them that Ukraine would be subject to dictates from the EU Commission, and that the first thing the Commission would do is force Ukraine to accept muslim migrants.

They told me, point blank, that the Commission doesn't exist. That the Parliament is the body that sets the laws. Incredible naivete, particularly when their interlocutor had to study EU law and had cases in memory to relate. To this day I see some of them pining for EU membership, oblivious to the fact that other countries are jumping ship.

Ukraine would be better off as an independent nation, but alas it suffers from predation by a certain group (most noticeable in the Trump impeachment debacle) and from a plummeting birthrate that is dooming its smaller cities.

Blogger Joe Smith June 06, 2020 9:52 PM

@59 tublecane One of the things I run into a lot is people saying something to the effect of: why do they only call white people racists? And the answer is simple: because it only works on white people. The reason it's only racist when white people do it is because if you call any non-white guy a racist, he'll look at you like you're speaking gibberish. Which you would be.

So, you're right. A white candidate cannot run against affirmative action. It's just not in him to do it. The press will call him a racist ad infinitum until he cucks.

A note about Milosevic: he was thrown away as a leader only AFTER he dealt eith ethnic cleansing in Bosnia (about a third of Bosnia is actually Serbia with Serbs in majority living there). He also dealt partially with Albanians in Kosovo. Serbs liked this.

Serbs have already achieved their goals by the time he was renounced by them. But not before, mind you.

Why am I emphasising this. Because living in this region (not Serbia, but close) I have seen how tensions in ethnicly diverse country resolve every time. And it is not pretty. And I see these same tensions nowadays in the USA, France, Germany, Nordic countries, UK, you name it. Trump is a leader of whites in the US and he will not lose their support as long these tensions exist in the US.

With last two presidents racial divide in the US is escalating. It was no coincidence that Obama was elected (leader of black, supoorted blm, which is basically seen from my outsider pow a soft terrorist organisation) and that Trump was elected (leader of whites).

I see racial tensions rising everywhere and I expect a ww3, which will be nothing like ww1 or ww2, but a gisnt Bosnia style war (3 nations, living together), where there are no clear front lines and the enemy is your neighbour in the same town.

"They try to create reality by speaking it into being. "

Impirtant insight. The demonic imitating and defiling the Holy. A spit at "In the beginning was the Word".

Their pride is that it has worked against many for centuries.

" The president rose to power by inflaming racial tensions. He now finds his own fate enmeshed in the struggle against police brutality and racism.

It is absolutely amazing that they can say this stuff with a straight face. It is the total opposite of what happened.

They are right about one thing and that is the nature of power requires voluntary compliance. If the "patriots" actually possessed the courage they claim to have, this awful system would have been turned over by now.
The entire "patriot" movement collapsed in the 90s and all the press had to do was show a few dead bodies and call McVeigh a white supremacist! Anyone waiting for the conservative revolution is going to be waiting a long time. If the slaughter of women in children in Texas (the alleged home of patriotism and independence) by the feds couldn't spur them to action, nothing can.

Vox, thank you for continuing to offer this blog to us. It reminds me in no small way of the colonial era "public conversation" contained in the pamphlets and newspapers of Boston and Philadelphia, or the sessions of the Continental Congress. I mean that as the highest compliment.

Well said. Being a new poster, but not a new user, I appreciate that the blog has played a significant role in the short term course of my life. I'd rather not get into that because it takes away from my point.

Some have said that the blog preceeds current events in the lives of it's readers. I have found this truthful. I just wish I started reading in 2000 when I was first introduced to our host's work. That said, Our Hallowed Lord works in mysterious ways, and He's pretty funny. Cheers VD and Ilk.
