The Age of Reason is over

Karl Denninger notes that humanity is entering a new Dark Age:

The age of reason has failed and we stand on the edge of a new Dark Age.

Let us start with Covid19.

In February Fauci described Covid19 as "akin to a severe pandemic or seasonal flu."  He was not mistaken; it is.  As I've presented, if you do not intentionally kill people with the bug that's exactly what we have -- a flu.

You cannot argue with mathematics.  Attempting to do so is witchcraft.  It is a belief in the occult.  That casting "spells" and "hexes" changes outcomes.  It is the exact opposite of science.

This county has had 13 deaths "from" Covid19.  We know not all of them were actually from Covid19, but how many we cannot determine.  Nobody has put forward the death certificates of the 13 souls who passed.  Why not?  This can be trivially done without names, addresses or other identifying information -- simply list the causal chain of death for each.  Where is it?  Not published -- not here, nor anywhere.

Yet from 2014-2017 each year about 26 people in this county die of influenza and pneumonia.  Approximately 1,000 people die each year in this county from all causes.  Over six months time we've lost 13, which is half of 26, and we've undeniably reached suppression, so the rate of death over the last six months is unlikely to be replicated or greater in the next six months.

In other words: Covid19 is the flu.

Sevier County, as near as I can tell, has no nursing homes.  It does have "assisted living" centers, including one less than five miles down the road from my home.  But nursing homes, unlike assisted living centers, are full of people who are incontinent -- the rate of incontinence among nursing home residents is approximately 40%.

We knew in February this bug expressed in feces.  We knew it conclusively.  We knew it spread from aerosolized feces too, because it did -- twice, in documented form, in two apartment buildings that had no P-Traps on the sinks -- one in Wuhan and another in Hong Kong.  There was no other plausible explanation for how the people who got the bug in those buildings were infected.  These sorts of shortcuts are horrifyingly stupid yet common in SE Asia; the $5 that a P-trap costs is simply not paid, building codes be damned.

One of the alleged "seminal" papers on how Covid19 is spread was peer-reviewed at the beginning of June.  It was claimed in that paper that the bug was primarily droplet-spread and the paper explicitly stated that the bug was responsive to the inverse of absolute humidity -- which is a property of physics that all droplet carried contamination follows.  It is the reason we have a "flu season."  The problem with this claim is that it was "reviewed" in early June and by early June we knew this claim was documented to be false as there were outbreaks all over the United States in places with 100 degree temperatures and 90+% relative humidity.  In other words despite the predicate claim that the reason NY got hit so hard was that it was still "winter" by summer you couldn't run that load of bull**** any longer as the virus was spreading in extraordinarily hot and humid conditions.  Yet the paper's entire premise and conclusion was based on nothing more than witchcraft as the base claim upon which everything else rested was disproved prior to publication.

The journal in question has not withdrawn it themselves, the authors have not repudiated it, the WHO and CDC have not disavowed it and every one of them know it's bull****.  We're several months beyond this and yet all through summer the virus has raged.  This is proof, beyond any reasonable scientific doubt, that "droplets" are not the primary means of transmission.

The Prometheans sold everyone on the lie that Reason and Christianity were incompatible. That was the core falsehood of the so-called Enlightenment. But it is now undeniable that to the extent the latter has been rejected, the former has been lost.

One Christian lady of the mid 19th Century noted the falsity of this alleged antipathy between Science and Christianity by referring to "science, falsely so called".

The percentage of deaths in Germany in the first half of 2016 to 2020:

0.56%, 0.59%, 0.60%, 0.57%, 0.58%.

2020 is exactly average.

It shocked me years ago when Bruce Jenner put on a wig and cut his penis off that so many people immediately "affirmed" his new gender. After that experience (in which I lost friends), I shouldn't have been surprised by the insane reaction to this but I still was. It is now a test of manhood rather than simply a greeting to have a handshake reciprocated. How low things have fallen.

In the early days, I went along with the initial lockdown (the 14 day one), thinking it was probably prudent. I don't think it was a mistake to do that even in hindsight. Going along with it now though? I really can't. The evidence does not support it. Myself and most people I know don't even know someone personally who has had it. And the fact that where I live is largely without cases and has gone mask free even to today tells me the face masks has nothing to do with public health. They aren't even mandatory in Japan.

Reason requires some manner of deity. Why would Creation have any rhyme or reason behind it, unless there was a Creator who designed it that way, who put things into order? We know from the second law of thermodynamics that order does not occur spontaneously.

Coronavirus isn't a threat to anyone who can read basic statistics, much less hold an honest understanding of public health.

If you terminated the careers of the current public health experts, as well as every bureaucrat who relied on the lies, you'd be halfway to establishing an age of reason. Terminate the internet gatekeepers, and you're 3/4 of the way. The 20% of the population capable of genuine reason could find itself carrying the rest. We don't have many enemies, just a few with outsized power. It's unfortunate that many will have to die, but right now it looks like they'll be killed by their own trust in urban elitism.

The coronu should at least clarify beast system malevolence and the number of NPCs for some who struggle with abstraction.

The concept of science as logically systematic empiricism – not SCIENCE! - isn’t just compatible with Christianity, it’s an extension of it. Logic is a lower-order manifestation of Logos – hence the capacity for abstract truth.

And Truth only has moral suasion with a higher objective authority. What chance does atomized reasoning in a relativistic cultural brownfield have?

Great line.

Listening to Father Josiah Trenham's "Rock and Sand," one cannot help but notice how quickly anarchy ensued after the rejection of Holy Tradition as a source of Authority. Within no time at all, this theological anarchy turned into social and political anarchy and war between brothers.

It took 500 years of increasing Scholasticism and Rationalism from Rome to finally give birth to this Protestant anarchy and therefore Liberalism. 500 years after Rome broke from the Apostolic Faith.

Zwingli is the perfect example of this, placing his own reasonings above that of Christ and His Holy Apostolic Orthodox Church. And giving birth, in the 1520s, to ideas and groups that in many ways were not so far off from ANTIFA in their views and demands.

The rationalizing function of mankind cannot function properly without being disciplined by the most basic foundational truths of Reality. The fallen rational mind is incapable of accessing those mystical, foundational truths of its own accord, and a blind, debased humanity needed a loving god to condescend to them and reveal those truths to them. The fullness thereof which was revealed by the God-Man Jesus Christ.

Untethered to Christ, unanchored in the storm, the rational mind is tossed about to and fro. Entire nations and empires cannot muster enough collective mental power to find safe harbor. Not without Christ and His Body, The Church.

And here we are.

Saturday night I had time to go thru a twitter post about the Trump rally in Nevada and it was the narrative about covid, I got thru about 100 tweets. Logic and reason were not going to reach those posting about the certainty of death that the rally would bring. The Right is going to have to harden their hearts, the left must be driven mad to the point of complete mental and emotional exhaustion, it will be ugly but "conservatism" of trying to nurse these people back is spoon feeding the devil.

As an aside yesterday someone posted a vid on twitter about some black teengaged girl starting a mini riot at the food court in some mall. I thought it the usual black temper tantrum but it turns out the restaurant if you can call it that would not serve a person without a mask and she and her black gang would not tolerate that and so riot ensues.

I'm not going to reason with black tantrum girl or masked up white liberal to do so only reenforces their "beliefs" I say let them fight one another.

“The age of reason has failed and we stand on the edge of a new Dark Age”

I hope this isn’t to imply a dichotomy between times of “reason” (so-called) and times of darkness.

Our Age of Reason was not entirely dark, because it rested upon extra-enlightenment intellectual foundations. But it very well could have been simultaneously enlightened and dark. Mixed metaphor notwithstanding.

Everybody stay home for a couple weeks, while the Health Department puts cots and stuff in the convention center, in preparation for a serious epidemic? That made some sense. That is actually what Alaska was doing for the first couple weeks. Then the Feds started sending out ``free'' ``money'' for maintaining the lockdown, and it turned into everybody stay home forever.

Low oil prices mean Alaska is broke, and the state politicians are eagerly looking for anything, anyone to sell out.

I've read that the death from all causes was up sharply in March and April, suggesting that something was going on, but as the as the authors of this article in the Journal of the AMA concede:

https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2768086

Many of the "excess" deaths could have been from the lockdown disruption itself. A close relative of mine, who is in his second year of physician residency, had to find a new position, along with 18 of his fellow residents, because his old hospital closed down entirely on July 1. No procedures could be scheduled for months. That is a lot of people going without treatment. Likewise, how many patients are now undergoing unnecessary procedures. Last year the hospital insisted that I consult with a cardiologist because of a preop ekg. The cardiologist said that it was an "overread", had me do a nonevasive teadmill test, and oked me for surgery. Last month, on the one year follow up the same cardiologist said that my ekg indicated a heart attack (news to me, since I spent weeks building a rock breakwater this winter without any pain or difficulty) and I had to undergo an echo and invasive PET scan where they inject stuff in one's veins to stress you out, along with radioactive sugar. Well, surprise surprise, the reports indicated normal function. I wondered how much real difference there was between those two ekgs, and if the cardiologist was not a bit more inclined, consciously or unconsciously, to order a couple of billable expensive tests. At least some patients must react badly to tests like that. If they are doing more tests now to "catch up" after the lockdown, I wonder how many people are dying from the extra testing?

They even renamed them Byzantines to make it seem the Empire fell completely in 376.

In the early days, I went along with the initial lockdown (the 14 day one), thinking it was probably prudent. I don't think it was a mistake to do that even in hindsight.

Same here. There was enough uncertainty at the time, and enough bad stories coming from China and then Italy, plus the president was taking it seriously and trying to stop travel, while Democrats and media were all downplaying it and saying hug a Chinaman, that I thought prudence was in order. And I said, and still think, that an economy that can't handle half the people being off work for two weeks ought to be crashed anyway.

But it was clear by late April, if not sooner, that we had flattened the curve and the hospitals were handling whatever surge there was without any trouble. We also had an effective treatment and a better idea of how the disease worked. We could have gone back to normal then, maybe with some restrictions on large gatherings like stadiums. But that's when the mask mandates and other retardery started. Anyone who can't see how the narrative did a 180 and the reasons for that is an NPC.

Blogger Damelon Brinn September 14, 2020 9:18 AM

My pool league had to stop for several weeks when the bars were closed for the lockdown. When the bars reopened a couple months ago (with social distancing rules everyone promptly ignored), one of our guys wouldn't come back. He's about 70 and has diabetes and a couple other serious conditions, and let's just say he's not statistically inclined, so I couldn't really blame him for being careful.

Last night he was there, with no real explanation of why he decided it was safe now. I think it'll be that way for a lot of people when they start socializing or dropping the mask: they'll just do it and pretend they were never caught up into it. They won't go to their friends and say, "Wow, I sure looked silly in that mask, didn't I?"

This time next year, you won't be able to find anyone who thought mask mandates and lockdowns going on for months were a good idea. Everyone will remember being on the other side, the way Boomers all remember being at Woodstock.

Indeed. Many have noted that Christianity itself is a necessary precondition for science to exist at all, seeing as the alternate narratives have a chaotic (not to ignore animistic) core that is utterly incompatible with science. If you believe that capricious gods with the personality of unstable humans but in possession of more power rule over everything, there's no point in asking why rain falls, smoke rises, or etc. There's no point because tomorrow it could all be different. If not 10 seconds from now.

Here, in the State of Jefferson, in the little mountain town nearby, the largest business catering to the public, is the local supermarket.

It's a useful place to do field observations. As I do my weekly grocery getting, I pay attention to the mask/fuck you ratio.
(I am of the latter camp, of course.)

Our populus is the usual redneck/hippie/ Boomer retiree mix you get around here, with Hmung, Mexican, and Russian growers adding to our own home-grown cultivators.

So, a very eclectic mix, with the annual influx of trimmigrants for the October harvest season rounding things out.

(Think Grapes of Wrath, but unwashed, with dreadlocks.)

Thus, a very varied cross-section. The sociology dept. at the c.c. would probably approve.

And, with that in mind, I'd say the tide is rapidly shifting, with Cali boomers (a.k.a. The Insufferables) being the strongest holdouts, naturally.
THEY can NEVER die!

Yesterday was the first time since public masking was mandated by Gov. Nuisance that F.Y.s
outnumbered maskers at said market.

(Our local sheriff, God bless him, is an F.Y.er. So no official enforcement.)

Based on that very unscientific observation method, a tipping point is rapidly approaching, I think.

So, even here, in the wilds of Jefferson, on the very left coast,
people are realizing they've been conned, and are flipping the un-gelled finger to the powers-that-be.

The long-term implications of that, remain to be seen.

Yes. I think I've mentioned here before a 70-year-old fellow I know who is supposed to have annual tests for a heart condition, and this year his appointment got delayed and then turned into a phone call where he essentially diagnosed himself. He's fine, thankfully, but we'll never know how many died because they couldn't get their normal treatments, or wouldn't because they'd been frightened away.

That looks to have both evil and stupid covered then.

But since there's no evidence that doesn't come from long-time consistent liars, there's no reason to believe there is a novel virus at all.

Here's an interesting snippet from the FDA talking about the tests for the virus:

"Another document also came to light that is critical in demonstrating the egregiously misleading nature of the public COVID-19 data. On the final paragraph of page 39 of a document published by the FDA regarding instructions for a COVID-19 test is the following quote: 'Since no quantified virus isolates of the 2019-nCoV are currently available, assays designed for detection of the 2019-nCoV RNA were tested with characterized stocks of in vitro transcribed full length RNA (N gene; GenBank accession: MN908947.2) of known titer (RNA copies/μL) spiked into a diluent consisting of a suspension of human A549 cells and viral transport medium (VTM) to mimic clinical specimen'."

I have wondered whether there were two viruses in Whuhan, one that caused much panic and deaths and was successfully contained by draconian measures, and a corona virus that was released at about the same time.

Now that we have the hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin cures, the chinkypox is definitely nothing - not even a flu. Without those happy surprises, the few who were susceptible were in some danger.
They aren't really surprises, of course: back in 2009 Fauchi and the CDC were touting HCQ as a cure for SARS, and this looks like a very mild version of SARS.

There isn't much doubt that the US was funding the research at Wuhan that resulted in this virus.
As a bioweapon, it's a bit of a flop.

There never really was an "Age of Reason". Just a bunch of pompous, prideful fools who thought they knew better than God and wanted to legitimize their perversions.

What we had was really the pretense of reason, where reason was substituted for faith in Jesus instead of acting as a kind of supplement to faith.

I watched part of Jay Dyer's Killstream debate with an atheist (whose name escapes me). The atheist basically said that God doesn't exist because all academics don't believe in Him. "'Since no quantified virus isolates of the 2019-nCoV are currently available, assays designed for detection of the 2019-nCoV RNA were tested with characterized stocks of in vitro transcribed full length RNA (N gene; GenBank accession: MN908947.2) of known titer (RNA copies/μL) spiked into a diluent consisting of a suspension of human A549 cells and viral transport medium (VTM) to mimic clinical specimen'."

I'm not a scientist, but I read this to mean that they haven't been able to isolate enough of the virus to use in their tests to verify that the tests are good. So how do we know the thing going around is SARS-CoV-2 at all? Do we know that because that's what they were known to be working on at the Wuhan lab, even though it definitely totally didn't escape from there?

1 Timothy 6:20
O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called "science."

While earning my biology degree I saw that "science" had been infected with "idle babbling" of Scientism. Much of this has to do with the ToE in biology, but this falsehood also spreads into every other realm of science. As 2020 shows, medicine is not exempt.

During 6 months of Covid, I've been awestruck by how Scientism has spread it's putrefying stench everywhere. We are as oppressed by false dogmas today as any poor peasant who lived under the sway of any false religion of antiquity. Every masked face is a mark of the tyranny of this false religion. The dark ages are today.

Sadly, Scientism has superseded true and helpful scientific principles. For example, it is obvious from looking at the case numbers and death numbers during the summer months, that whatever the infectious fatality rate looked like in March/April, it is drastically less deadly now. This trend is more pronounced the more deaths a locality had in March/April like Spain, Sweden, NYC.

While there could be many explanations for this trend, viral mutation might be the biggest factor in the lower fatality rate. Since this explanation is contrary to the prevailing ToE narrative that life is ascending to a more robust state, this explanation is mostly ignored.

Viruses don't have a true life of their own. They only propagate by hijacking the replication resources of the cells they infect. For this reason, when the "survival of the fittest" principle is applied to viruses, it predicts that all viruses will quickly mutate in ways that render it less deadly to it's current host, and more infectious to other potential hosts. This is because a virus is more "fit" for continued propagation when it's doesn't quickly kill the host, or render the host so sick that he is in bed not interacting with other potential hosts. This principle, paired with adaptive immunity of the host leading to herd immunity for the population, results in a virus quickly become less and less of a problem. This is why every year dozens of respiratory viruses run their course and then become background (endemic) pathogens of little concern. In my opinion, this "endemic" state is where most of the USA is now with covid. There might be a few communities here and there where the virus still needs to run it's course. But even in these "naive" communities, the virus they are facing is much more mild than the virus Italy faced 6 months ago.

The bottom line is that even with a modest understanding of the basic true principles of biology and infectious disease, it is easy to see that the covid problem is solving itself. Even back in March, when we learned most of the deaths were of the elderly, and when we were told that many people could have asymptomatic or mild infections, it was clear that this virus wasn't a big deal. How can a virus be both highly deadly for some, and totally benign for others? The answer is that it's only highly deadly to people who are about to die anyway. Obviously!

The main purpose is unlikely to have anything to do with a bioweapon of any kind, but rather spellcraft on a scale never before seen on such a visceral level.
The spell being used for social engineering in changing the beliefs and subsequently the behavior of billions.

The masks are a way to impose the occult on the common man that exposes their compliance to it visibly.
It's been remarkably successful in converting the masses everywhere, which means that they are ready for more magick until the spells reach some threshold in absurdity that imposes a social cost so high that a significant fraction of the population will trigger a rapid phase transition in said belief and behavior.

now that we know how dangerous the Chinkypox really isn't.

China has the worst air quality on the planet.

China is also the home to more than 50% of the tobacco smokers on the planet.

Han Chinese are reputed to be genetically disposed to notably higher concentrations of ACE2 receptors in their lungs, which is the primary vector for Corona infection.

put all that together, and China had a MUCH bigger problem with this than anybody else did.

remember how they found the driver's license of that Saudi pilot lying in the street on 9-11?

just as innocent as this.

"So, let's review, shall we?

Karl Denninger thinks the Wuhan is nothing but the flu, but the whole "pandemic" is just a vast conspiracy to leverage this insignificant bug into some Satanic reworking of society.

On the other hand, Ron Unz believes that the Wuhan was actually a vicious biological weapon concocted by the United States Defense Department, and said virus was transported to the eponymous province in China to wreak havoc on the Han, but it got out of control and screwed up the entire planet.

All righty then."

Both isn't hard. The first is obviously true, happens during any major event, but this one gets bonus points because it's mostly a projected, fabricated event rather than a real and significant one.

The second can actually be part of the first without any difficulty. How's your faith in the ability of humans to manipulate life at the genetic level? I'll tell you mine's pretty much zip, and consequently I expect a "super deadly" lab created disease to be... about as deadly as what can be found in the wild, namely the flu unless they re-release an oldie goldie.

"Really? I'm not a big guy, but no one's ever yelled at me, even when I walk on public streets and small shops without a mask. Is it just because I have advantages that you don't? Probably. Still, mobs can sense weakness. And they get really tentative around someone who's spoiling for a fight."

Not me, my older father. And no, from your physical description here, posturing, and attempt to leverage an ad-hominem, you enjoy no advantages.

The point isn't even anything you tried to address. The point is that people are more stupid and more immoral and baseless than they have been in a very long time, and therefore it's easy for them to suddenly do nearly anything including things you'd never think they'd consider. I don't know, perhaps you're a hermit, or fortunately isolated by many others of like mind, but if you have much social interaction or travel at all beyond that, being in public the last few months should be quite disturbing to you on an instinctive level.

Oh, I'm sorry, I was just avoiding saying what was on my mind. "Mobs are panicky animals, you live in a mild tyranny, and it's SWPL to yell at you over terrible science? What's the next life lesson, the importance of cleaning my room?"

Stop whining like a woman. If the last six months have been wearing on you, work on mental resilience before the next six break you entirely. I'm doing fine. And you're obviously not.

No Asian country has ever worn masks for so long, they do it during peak outbreaks or when ill. The phenomenon we are living through in the West is pretty much voodoo or witch-hunting, pure superstition. The sad part is that people comply on their own even though they know it's BS and most large companies don't enforce it.

Anybody who get through to my classically naive, NPR-listening (really worshiping), 87 yo mother, that this thing is really a nothingburger, and no, the kids aren't at risk, please, let me know. It's maddening. Anything that contradicts what she has heard from the nice people at NPR just bounces right off. But this isn't new.

Blogger Damelon Brinn September 15, 2020 1:49 PM

@68, Change the mind of an 87-year-old whose beliefs are constantly reinforced by NPR? Whew. I don't like to say things are impossible, but....

That's one of the most anger-making things about this, the way they're playing on the legitimate health concerns of people in their 80s and 90s (Silents, not Boomers), to set them against their kids and grandkids who know better but want to respect their wishes.

Blogger Duke Norfolk September 15, 2020 2:31 PM

@69 Yeah, I know. Right now she's concerned about the university kids in her small IL town. "The cases are going, up, up, up!" No amount of pointing out that "cases" aren't sick people, and that the tests are very questionable at best, etc., will get through the brainwashing. And she's heard about some young people who have died, dontchaknow (on NPR, I'm sure).

Blogger Kingly Gift September 15, 2020 5:18 PM

@70 Duke Norfolk. Sad to say this, but if she hasn't figured out in her 87 years that NPR is propaganda, then she's getting what she deserves. If you spend your whole life not bothering to see through the lies, then you deserve being the victim to whatever fear based psyop the Prometheans throw at you. I have family members in this same boat, and while compassion for them is good, at the same time you have to realize they made their bed and now they have to sleep in it. I also know plenty of elderly people who know this whole thing is a farce.

@63 Azure Amaranthine Exactly, it's both. Early intelligence that this virus was made in a lab (I don't presume to know by whom) might have been the initial falling domino that made governments (china, then USA, etc.) decided to over-react to it. Then once that first domino fell, many other interests (staby Gates, Davos, etc.) perpetuated the over-reaction and diverted attention from the contrary evidence. And here we are 6 months later still trapped in the fog. Interestingly, it looks like China figured out early on that the virus wasn't that big of a problem, and they've been laughing since mid February as they watch the rest of the world destroying itself over nothing.

That's one hypothesis at least.
