Patreon purges Qanon creators

It appears Patreon has learned literally nothing from its losing legal battle with the Bears:

Patreon -- a platform that provides “content creators” with tools to run membership-based subscription services and earn a monthly income -- is helping QAnon influencers monetize the dangerous conspiracy theory. And it appears the company is cashing in too, taking a 5-12% cut depending on the user’s payment plan even though the content seemingly violates the platform’s terms of use.

Media Matters has identified 14 prominent QAnon content creators on Patreon who are profiting by peddling the violent conspiracy theory.

Update (10/22/20): Following Media Matters' reporting, Patreon announced it will ban creators that promote QAnon misinformation from using the platform.

At least now we have a pretty good idea what that $90 million in new investment money was intended for. But it was nice of Media Matters to spell the whole process out in public for everyone to see. And with over 4,500 backers behind them, I would expect that these recently deplatformed content creators can wield a considerable legal hammer if they are so inclined.

Some will argue that these deplatformings "don't make any sense". But that argument betrays an inability to recognize that we're no longer operating in a Smithian marketplace here.

For a media empire operating at the highest levels, the influence it wields on the public’s mind is far more valuable to the ruling power structure than any self-contained profit that could be generated by optimizing their news product to suit the taste of the audience.... Just as a social media company’s true product is its user data, the true product of a major media company is the flow of narratives that shape the perception of reality. Wielding influence over the public mind will always be more valuable than any profit that could be generated by optimizing the news to suit public tastes.

This is information war, not business. It's about control of the information flow, not maximizing profits or market share. And you'll note that they ban Q, not unicorns, leprechauns, or perpetual-motion machines.

So thoughtful of them to provide a list of people to support. Thanks, Media Matters!

This is why Fox News was so ready to pull the trigger to betray it's viewers. Of what use is capital you aren't willing to spend? Now the process repeats at Parler, OAN, Newsmax, etc...

Twitter and Amazon went more than a decade without showing any profit. And yet the venture capital kept flowing in.

Q is just a baseless conspiracy theory but we need to deplatform everyone that promotes it.

I was a Q fence-sitter right up until Facebook and Twitter started banning QAnon posters.

Amazon was able to gobble up market share of the online store variety similar to WallMart's unethical tactics of killing independent stores by price fixing them out of business, then jacking up prices.

Twitter, on the other hand, was able to gobble up market share by lying to the public about being a free speech platform, then censoring everyone that disagrees with the corporate overlords, up to and including the sitting President of the United States.

Both of these companies need court cases filed against them to make them abide by existing laws. If that's not enough to bring about justice, new laws need to be drafted to deal with them. Let VC companies try to keep their puppets alive while we suck out all the money back into the coffers of real-America.

The size, scope and power of media in the last 80 years is a 2 edged sword. It allowed them to control minds worldwide. The problem comes in when minds world wide see the trick. There will be no country that will naively welcome them as they attempt to flee.

Blogger mece November 15, 2020 9:16 AM

Starving them of capital is important still. Delete Facebook and the like, don't go to woke areas or restaurants.

Blogger Balkan Yankee November 15, 2020 9:21 AM

Mass media frustration over its inability to control the narrative is at an all-time high. Try as it may, try as it might to control the information flow, MSM just cannot do it any more.

In the Red Pill Age, the mass media model is inadequate to control the flow of information. That's life in a networked society. And Silicon Valley's attempt to recreate the mass media model via Facebook, Twitter, and other Information Plantation approaches only inspires the competition to try harder. The persistence of QANON is perhaps the most poetic reminder of obvious MSMSV impotence.

MSM maintains a grip on its legacy Blue Pill audience, sheeple who desperately want to believe that everything is okay and will soon be returning to normal.

But the status quo is shot because far too many people are catching on to the kakistocratic nature of the Establishment.

Bottomline: Trump is the Great Awakener and QANON is his helper. Patreon can only get out of the way or get run over.

It shouldn't be hard to compete with Patreon. After all, all they are is a money conduit where they take a cut off the top. There can't even be that much overhead. Based on the fact that most of their transactions are credit/debit card based, much of the operation can be automated.

Blogger tdcommenter November 15, 2020 9:35 AM

I was skeptical of most of the specific Q claims, but the outline has been amazingly prescient. Debauched power brokers (Bidens) abusing their young (see Ashley Biden's diary hazy recollection of abuse & Hunter exposing himself to his niece/step-daughter) attempting a color revolution. An international cabal pushing globalism. Corrupt officials pulling the strings against the elected govt and installing their own. In any case, there's a globalist cabal & Deep State plain for everyone to see if they want sight.

It's nice to be able to pull up these court briefs and read them for yourself. I read over the filing for PA in federal court.

Lots of stuff their to educate one's self about and all thanks to Al Gore's invention of the internet.

They are doing everything they can to suppress QAnon.

If they had simply ignored it, I might have dismissed QAnon as a fantasy conspiracy theory hatched by deluded internet cranks. But the fact that they're so terrified of QAnon only proves that components of it are true.

This confirms what Pepe Escobar wrote at Unz:
"The Fox News/ New York Post angle is particularly enticing. Why are they suddenly supporting Biden? Way beyond internal family squabbles worthy of the Successionsaga, Rupert Murdoch made it very clear, via the laptop from hell caper, that he has all sorts of kompromat on the Biden family. So they will do whatever he wants. Murdoch does not need Trump anymore."
The picture becomes clearer every day - Trump is now president of Red-pill America!

This is how the media platforms, the tech leviathans and all “allied” governments work.

No disruptive policies, no immediate action, never any sense of urgency, even as their people are being beheaded on the streets RIGHT FUCKING NOW. No, just twiddling the knobs, investing in integration courses, banning dissenters, and blowing future sunshine in our faces.

Macron’s people need an Inquisition and what do they get? Language classes, Franco-muslim friendship training, platitudes and promises of future peace.

Apparently, at some point, if you're an organ of the Deep State masquerading as a for-profit business you're forced to tear the mask off if circumstances compel you to do so.

Different venue, same thing: the 'woke' or largely-porn movie releases also lose money hand over fist, and have been doing so for 20++ years. But making money is NOT the agenda.

WallMart's unethical tactics of killing independent stores by price fixing them out of business

Partially true. Wal-Mart's REAL m.o. was to force manufacturers to make cheaper products. They did so. Notice the difference in the gage of metal on lawn mowers? Snowblowers? Or the origin of the engines on same (hint: Red China)?

The products are priced lower because they are worth less. Wally-World had some other highly unethical practices--e.g., their 'return' policy--which screwed their suppliers.

That said, not ALL locals went out of biz. Some simply continued providing quality stuff and people are returning to their stores.

“dangerous conspiracy theory”
It’s not dangerous to me. It’s not after ME.

They couldn’t portray Qanon more out of wack from reality. The ultimate purpose of the great awakening is to help your fellow man cope with the coming shock. I’m helping 3 different families (trump supporters, no less) currently come to terms with something as ordinary as the MSM is lying about Biden being the winner. It’s like they can’t bear the words of it (that the MSM is this bad). It’s really something to see. It doesn’t bother me (though I don’t want them to suffer) because I know they’ll come around eventually.

A lot of the problem is tied up with the money processing underneath - those are the weakpoint.

I've tried looking into it myself but wasn't able to figure out how to get something like it set up, particularly so that you can charge to and from a bank correctly. Might have missed something basic.

Does anyone have direct experience with these things? I want to get some info from them.

Is there any "content creator" who advocates for christendom and her natives that is not purged by these lawless cartels?

The peasantry is well trained to dismiss such blatant discriminations by abiding the labels categorizing them as lawful.

There is nothing lawful about any of this. A selectively applied rule is not a rule. Selecting only creeds of christendom as the target, as they invariably do (ethnically cleansing and labelling such as "white"), is lawless.

These lawless corporations, and the absence of their prosecution, prove the illigitmacy of the lawless governing cartels, and so require the citizenry to take action and reconstitute a republic.

Failing to do so, we lost our republic and thereby our citizenship; are now a peasantry abiding our owners. This will only get worse until our mindset changes and we organize to take action.

A modestly profitable business isn't going to attract much VC, whereas a front line in the information war stands a decent chance of getting bought out by Jeff Bezos for some crazily inflated price. In a way, getting sued by QAnon users might be a good way of advertising themselves to their real intended audience.

For a site that claimed to be "the last refuge", you'd think they'd have done a better job assuring control over their infrastructure stack.

I've now lost count of the number of times this has happened, despite the proprietors complaining to be "informed". It's almost as if the incompetence is intentional.

(then there's the material, which from 2017-2018 was 'stay on your couches, do nothing, and trust the plan', and thereafter was a flood of blackpilling)

Either way, there's an increasing need for an anti-fragile hosting provider, and the fact that isn't already funded is an absolutely damning indication of the grift to genuine ratio at the top of the so-called MAGA movement.

Speaking of purges, CTH has been given until 2 December to vacate his Wordpress hosting.

I honestly don't know why he was still there, after all the other blogs that WP hosting has terminated over the last 4 years.

The way right leaning people continually seem to be surprised when converged internet services kick them off is starting to infuriate me. Doesn't anyone pay attentionto the plight of others? I read one of the commentators on the CTH post about this offer Dodaddy as a hosting provider with a straight face. O_o
