Women in combat

One aspect of the Eric Frein manhunt that has mostly escaped readers is the way that this episode, featuring a strong, independent female police officer under fire, doesn't bode well for the champions of women in combat:
Late on the night of Sept. 12, Cpl. Bryon Dickson, 38 years old and the father of two young sons, was ending his shift. As he walked out of the Blooming Grove barracks, a neat, tan-brick building nearly surrounded by woods, he suddenly dropped to the ground.

A colleague who was just beginning her shift heard a sound like a firecracker, saw Corporal Dickson on the ground — a few yards from flagpoles flying the American and Pennsylvania flags — and went out to help, only to hear another shot that kicked up a cloud on the lobby floor.

She retreated into the building and tried, unsuccessfully, to call 911. Her wounded colleague asked her to bring him inside, but she could not reach him. She called out for assistance.

Trooper Alex Douglass, also just beginning his shift, walked up from the parking lot toward Corporal Dickson. He, too, fell to the ground, shot, but crawled to safety into the lobby. Using bravery and the shield of a marked S.U.V., other troopers managed to carry their brother into the barracks.
In other words, she heard a shot, ran away, didn't shoot back, couldn't manage to call for help, and wouldn't take the risk of going back out to drag the wounded into shelter. Then, when other male officers arrived, she didn't help them go out to get him.

Also, since when are police officers "assassinated" rather than "shot" or even "murdered"? They are armed civilians and petty agents of the state, not heads of state. Are they really to be considered "politically prominent" now?

Good catch. If an ordinary citizen were gunned down by a rifle, the media would never describe it as an assassination.

As for the female officer, I don't know what to think. Maybe she was legitimately frightened. It's human nature.

There is NEVER this sort of manhunt when one of us mundanes is murdered.

Of course if some anti-cop group wanted to do some real damage, they would pretend to join the hunt and then pick off the cops searching for Fein.

The attackers were wearing “all dark gray or black,” he said. They had “black rubber gloves on” and “ninja masks.”

“All I could see of them was their eyes,” the man added.

“My adrenaline was pumping so bad,” he told KSTU. “They grabbed for me. One of them covered my mouth, and the other grabbed my throat, but they were both pretty small so I threw them back and started shouting to get anybody awake that I could.”

The unnamed man was also able to restrain the ninjas until police showed up.

One of the consolations I foresee from the coming economic collapse, is the very real probability that much of the rotten ideology of radical equalitarianism, including feminism, and LGBT nonsense, will of necessity crawl back into the recesses of rocks and closets where it belongs. When times get tough, there's simply no room for things that don't work!

Anyway, we'll see!

I was an MP in the Army, I did both field duty and law enforcement patrol.

Most women shammed out of field duty, either by flirting/screwing the higher ups, getting three week periods that required them to go in, or getting knocked up.

On law enforcement duty they would flirt/screw their way into bicycle playground and school patrol, DARE program, traffic accident, and evidence room. Of those that were left we had ONE ever that would get into a physical fight to back other MPs up. Just one. Being partnered with or backed up by a woman MP is worse than being on your own.

After hearing this, I welcome our upcoming all-female police force. Well, OK maybe not, but at least I would expect the number of no-knock raids to decrease precipitously. Maybe they would still shoot kids' dogs unprovoked.

Reminds me of this video of a violent traffic stop where the female officer can primarily be heard screaming and telling her male partner to cover her while she calls for backup. It's hard to see what's happening off-camera- perhaps she got shot or perhaps she was actually shooting straight. But with that all that screaming, I doubt it. Especially after first seeing this video of a shootout in a Detroit police station where it appears the sole female cop went prone and hid behind a counter, rolling on the ground in terror, while her wounded male partners aggressively engaged the shooter.

It's a universal rule and immutable rule that the targets of prejudice are not the cause of prejudice. Just as Jews (or Jewish organizations, or the Jewish state) do not cause anti-Semitism to flare, or intensify, or even to exist, neither do black people cause racism, nor gay people homophobia, nor Muslims Islamophobia.

Neither does the behavior of the police cause opposition to (prejudice against) them.

give me a hunting knife and it's the work of about 2 seconds to cut the copper pair line serving your phone.

so
IF Fein bothered to do some prep work before his attack, her failure is explained fairly easily
IF you assume she was trying to use one of the office phones. because all the landlines in the building would be down.

there are a lot of unstated facts one needs to be assume before her failure becomes explainable, though.

i like that first pic of the bull dyke doing vehicle inspections. hey baby, you think maybe that long gun isn't the best choice for doing up close searching?

if that driver brings his right hand up filled with a pistol she CAN'T bring her firearm to bear because she's standing too close to the car and the muzzle of her rifle would hit the door before she was anywhere close to covering the civvy with her arc of fire.

she won't grab for her pistol ... because she's already got both her hands filled with rifle. and if she had the situational awareness to grab for her pistol in the first place, she wouldn't be standing the way she is.

The biggest problem with women in combat, that everyone pretends doesn't exist. Is the effect on men in combat when a woman gets hit.

A battle that is going according to plan is an ambush. More than one wounded Marine, has been left to die because he was wounded in the open and the rest of the unit is pinned. It sucks, it well and truly ass invaded sucks. The rest of unit has to sit tight and watch a comrade bleed out because there is not a chance in hell of pulling him out without loosing more Marines doing it.

But you can do that for another male.

Now picture that scenario and it's girls voice that's screaming and crying and pleading for help.

Anonymous DavidK September 22, 2014 10:48 AM

Well, since PA Tromp insisted on redefining the word coward, it shouldn't be any trouble for him to redefine the word "assassinate" or the concept of "coming to the assistance of a fellow officer".

From an evolutionary perspective it makes perfect sense for women's fight or flight reflex to be more heavily weighted towards flight.

Women that tried to engage in combat would have had fewer offspring than those that used other strategies.

Therefore "SCIENCE!" shows that women are not suited for combat.

Don't be a "SCIENCE!" denier.

You know, maybe there is a reason why men tend to vastly outnumber woman in dangerous but non-prestigous jobs like coal mining and oil rig worker. Perhaps men are more inclined to accept dangerous/dirty jobs than women because of an evolutionary past that favored men that could and would protect and support their mates, enabling them to produce more offspring, outcompeting more timid competitors.

Nah, most likely its the patriarchy.

What I am saying here, obviously, is that its not just womens' physical attributes that make them unsuited for combat.

Mental attributes are just as important and my experience in the army was that many women lack what, to men, are fundamental mental traits neccesary for success in a tough physical environment.

For instance, I have never been on a road march that included women where men did not have to assist the women by carrying their rucksacks. Usually two men would carry the ruck between them, each man holding a strap.

Now, no man with any self-esteem would allow another guy to carry his ruck short of having collapsed on the ground, unable to continue, and needing medical help. If for no other reason, because he would know that his group status would be zero.

But of course this is not a problem for women. Their status is not dependent on how well they contribute to the well being of the group as a whole. So they don't have the pressures that men do, so they don't have the mental outlook that men do.

When I tell my wife that PT sometimes included running until I threw up she looks at me like I am crazy. But that's just the way it was.

I'm no fan of cops. I don't respect anyone who shoots defenseless animals for the thrill of it, but I think calling it an assassination is fair.

It's considered an assassination for the same reason killing a politician is an assassination. Because they are "petty agents of the state" and targeted in a premeditated manner, in this case because they are police officers.

We should start hiring two-foot tall female midgets to police the ghetto. Absolutely EVERYBODY would pose an imminent threat of great bodily harm or death to them, even grade schoolers! Because of their small size we could give them automatic weapons and they could shoot anybody.

Over a hundred years ago the Milwaukee police department advertised and hired Irishmen specifically because they had the strength and attitude to do the job. Part of the test was to go into a bar filled with rowdy drunks and extract a miscreant. If his friends resisted, they had to use their fists as necessary to pnch them out and subdue them.

In Ireland, melees of dozens of people were commonplace across the country, from which we get the term "Donnybrook" in honor of the huge affrays at Donnybrook Fair.

With skinny little underweight girls on our police forces we have to expect (a) more girls running from a fight and (b) more girls shooting and killing suspects in self-defense.

Some of impressive real-life stories about woman fighters can be found in this book - but it's too bad that the PC brigade cannot use them, as they are about American pioneer women fighting against Injuns:

WOMAN ON THE AMERICAN FRONTIER

http://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/6808/pg6808.html

"In estimating the heroism of American women displayed in their conflicts with the aborigines, we must take into account her natural repugnance to repulsive and horrid spectacles. The North American savage streaked with war-paint, a bunch of reeking scalps at his girdle, his snaky eyes gleaming with malignity, was a direful sight for even a hardened frontiers-man; how much more, then, to his impressionable and delicate wife and daughter. The very appearance of the savage suggested thoughts of the tomahawk, the scalping knife, the butchered relations, the desolated homestead. Nothing can better illustrate the hardihood of these bold spirited women than the fact that they showed themselves not seldom superior to these feelings of dread and abhorrence, daring even in the midst of scenes of blood to denounce personally and to their face the treachery and cruelty of their foes.
...

The annals of the border-wars in the region of which we have been speaking abound in stories where women have been the victors in hand-to-hand fights with savages. In all these combats we may note the spirit that inspired those brave women with such wonderful strength and courage, transforming them, from gentle matrons into brave soldiers. It was love for their children, their husbands, their kindred, or their homes rather than the selfish instinct of self-preservation which impelled Mrs. Porter, the two Mrs. Cooks, Mrs. Merrill, and Mrs. Bozarth to perform those feats of prowess and daring which will make their names live for ever in the thrilling story of border-warfare."

Also because they're nearly always wives and mothers, fighting to defend their families and the homes their husbands provided for them, which feminists would rather not celebrate. That's what the TV kept telling me while I was trying to watch football this Sunday. It seemed like every single show they promoted featured cops, lawyers, or politicians as the heroes. The Big Bang Theory might have been the only exception. And as much as I appreciate Tom Selleck for Magnum p.i. and the Jesse Stone movies, and for going off the Hollywood liberal reservation on some issues like guns, I really don't need to see him in a part where he whines about how cops are people too.

There can indeed be female martial heroism, but it will not be inspired by Liberalism - any more than modern eunuchoid Liberalism can inspire brave males either.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boudica#Boudica.27s_uprising

"In AD 60 or 61, while the current governor, Gaius Suetonius Paulinus, was leading a campaign against the island of Mona (modern Anglesey) in the north of Wales, which was a refuge for British rebels and a stronghold of the druids, the Iceni conspired with their neighbours the Trinovantes, amongst others, to revolt. Boudica was chosen as their leader. According to Tacitus, they drew inspiration from the example of Arminius, the prince of the Cherusci who had driven the Romans out of Germany in AD 9, and their own ancestors who had driven Julius Caesar from Britain.[20] Dio says that at the outset Boudica employed a form of divination, releasing a hare from the folds of her dress and interpreting the direction in which it ran, and invoked Andraste, a British goddess of victory."

Just this past weekend at the mall I saw a black female officer working off duty security and I remarked to my gf how great that must be. She was confused, so I explained. Basically a female officer is never held accountable for their actions like a male would be. Take this situation, if she is a cop and not an office worker, if a male officer did this, everyone in the dept would jump his shit. Chances are he'd get shunned in such a way that he'd leave, or they'd give him shit details until he did (if they couldn't find a reason to term him). Female officer? At best they'd move her to something out of the field like PR Officer or some other detail a guy would try to get, and chances are she'll be promoted there til she's out of everyone's hair

A Victorian era writer Charles Kingsley noted that there was something disturbingly masculine about Negro women:

http://www.gutenberg.org/files/10669/10669-h/10669-h.htm

"Screaming and jabbering, the Negroes and Negresses thrust each other’s boats about, scramble from one to the other with gestures of wrath and defiance, and seemed at every moment about to fall to fisticuffs and to upset themselves among the sharks. But they did neither. Their excitement evaporated in noise. To their ‘ladies,’ to do them justice, the men were always civil, while the said ‘ladies’ bullied them and ordered them about without mercy. The negro women are, without doubt, on a more thorough footing of equality with the men than the women of any white race. The causes, I believe, are two. In the first place there is less difference between the sexes in mere physical strength and courage; and watching the average Negresses, one can well believe the stories of those terrible Amazonian guards of the King of Dahomey, whose boast is, that they are no longer women, but men. There is no doubt that, in case of a rebellion, the black women of the West Indies would be as formidable, cutlass in hand, as the men."

Male cops moonlight as security guards all the time. In some locales, they run a de facto protection racket: "You should hire some of us to work as security guards/bouncers/etc. so, you know, nothing happens to your business and our on duty brothers can be brought in to lend an aura of legitimacy to anything we do. Capisce?"

Find a story of a woman defending her apartment and three cats from a white attacker -- a skinhead, even! -- and doing it with mace or kung fu, not a gun, of course -- and they'd be all over that. But for some reason there are no such stories.

Such stories are left to the realm of home security service commercials...

A couple of days ago there was a brief clip of some Swedish cops trying to stand the line against some anti-racist rioters. The women were about one third to one half the size of their male counterparts and even in their helmets and armor they looked clearly frightened. The one thought going through my ind as I watched that clip was "what happens when the crowds lose their fear?"

I remember when the first women were admitted to out Airborne Division. The esprit de corps went down the toilet and not one of them ever performed to level of even the sorriest male paratrooper.

Genuflect before the shibboleth of equality and watch the edifice of civilization crumble.

Is there any evidence at all that Boudicca demonstrated "martial heroism" ....... Or did she cheer her warriors on from behind?

As for talking about "defenceless animals"..... Try catching one yourself and you might find how defenceless they are. The natural defences of the prey are speed, strength and superior senses.
If you were talking about pulling heads off kittens or shooting sheep in a pen I might agree, but I suspect you ain't. Classifying things according to how you feeeeeel about them rather than according to reality is a very feminine attribute.

Anonymous DT September 22, 2014 5:39 PM

Also, since when are police officers "assassinated" rather than "shot" or even "murdered"? They are armed civilians and petty agents of the state, not heads of state. Are they really to be considered "politically prominent" now?

Where have you been? Their freaking DOGS are politically prominent. That's right, if you kill a police dog you will spend more time in prison then a LEO who kills an innocent human being. The dog will be buried with a full ceremony and 'honors.' And yes, when asked they will refer to the murdered dog as an "assassination."

You cannot begin to imagine how full of themselves these people are. Even Cartman on South Park was mild next to reality.

Dogs? What dogs? The proper term is "K-9 Officer". At first some YouTube videos confused me with commentary similar to "the K-9 Officer signaled there was reasonable cause to search the car" and I'm left looking for the human that signaled this and wondering how he did so. At first "K-9 Officer" sounded like the dog handler, then I realized the dog is the officer.

@Rabid

I stand corrected. I misread your post.

Anonymous N5 September 22, 2014 8:19 PM

My dog laughs every time she sees that the dog can tell the officer when it's ok to search the car. "Do you know why that is N5?" Me: "sigh. Because the dog is smarter than the cop?" My dog: "Right in one. Took you long enough. Sure that you're not part Beagle?"

Proving that women shouldn't be in combat? By what logic? Wouldn't it prove that men get shot way too easy too?

Petty agents? They get killed.

Wow, still not one ounce of potty for the murdered trooper, his wife or child. Nothing but poorly veiled glee.

Shame on you.

If you were talking about pulling heads off kittens or shooting sheep in a pen I might agree, but I suspect you ain't....

The original "defenseless" animal comment was in the context of cops routinely shooting family pets, even if the pets are not aggressive, or are contained. And then handcuffing the dog's owner and letting him watch his friend die, unable to help or even comfort the creature.

Yeah, fuck you PA Tromp. You're defending scumbags.

It's not an accident that they use the word "assassinated" to describe a cop's murder. Wait for the funeral. 500 cops cars rolling along at 20 miles under the speed limit, blocking traffic for a couple hours. I rare use the word "fascist", but it seems to fit.

The other skeptic September 22, 2014 10:07 AM

It's a universal rule and immutable rule that the targets of prejudice are not the cause of prejudice. Just as Jews (or Jewish organizations, or the Jewish state) do not cause anti-Semitism to flare, or intensify, or even to exist, neither do black people cause racism, nor gay people homophobia, nor Muslims Islamophobia.

Neither does the behavior of the police cause opposition to (prejudice against) them.

So if people don't like you, it can't possibly ever be due to any fault in yourself, eh?

I can't tell if that article is ironic, or if its author really believes than nonsense.

He supposedly killed an abortionist who was one of the tribe too. Also allegedly blew up abortion mill and killed negro security guard in process. That's a PC-twofer of those who are more equal than others right there. National manhunt rapidly ensued naturally - it being a worldwide emergency with a potential Hitler on the highways.
