Ebola spreads in the USA

First, they said it would never get to the USA. Then they said it wouldn't spread to the health care workers:
A hospital worker here who helped treat the Liberian man who died last week of the Ebola virus has tested positive for the disease, even though the worker was wearing a gown, gloves, mask and other protective gear when coming into contact with the victim, officials said Sunday.

The hospital employee, a woman whom officials did not identify, worked at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, where the first person diagnosed with Ebola in the United States, Thomas Eric Duncan, 42, died last Wednesday. The health care worker reported a low-grade fever Friday night, went to the hospital at some point after that and was immediately admitted and put in isolation, officials said.
One wonders what will be the next statement from a government official on the subject to be exposed as false. Note that a nurse in Spain also caught the virus from a Spanish man who was brought back to Spain by his government for treatment.

And they want to send some 4,000 soldiers to Liberia to do what? And they say they will bring them back for treatment. Ought to send them to Gitmo.

This is so dumb it has to be deliberate. There needs to be a screw up, and a patient is brought back to D.C.

The worst lies from the CDC are implying how hard it is to catch this infection. It's a huge lie, in that, yes, while the Ebola carrier is not "highly" contagious, any exposure to the live virus can lead to infection. They point out that a carrier who is not sick is not "highly" contagious, but only beacuse that person is not leaving behind bodily fluids.

The truth is much more complicated. During the "incubation" period, a carrier is contagious by exposure of a fluid containing the virus, or the virus being stranded on a surface, until the virus is destroyed. The carrier becomes "highly contagious" because after organ failure starts, the body starts shedding fluids rapidly and those fluid are ripe with the virus.

The nurse is Spain who was infected was infected despite a positive pressure suit. She was two levels higher containment protocol than the nurse in Texas. The nurse in Texas, who is being blamed by the CDC for her own infection, was wearing apparently full Level II containment articles.

The fundamental lie from the CDC is that Ebola is somewhat hard to contract. Even the slightest exposure to the virus leads to an infection, and once infected, the mortality rate even with the best western treatment, is above 50%. The only reason it's somewhat hard to contract is because the meantime between showing symptoms and death is quite small.

The cost of not addressing the spread of infectious disease is so damaging to the open-borders agenda, I'm wondering what they expect to gain from it. Obviously, if the end game is to introduce the infection and kill people, maintaining the political will for open borders isn't even part of the equation. However, if keeping the air traffic between West Africa and the US going is just based on anti-racism dogma and the desire to keep the borders open, I wonder if they've completely counted out the public back lash.
Ebola makes the dangers of open borders so much more imminently clear to the public than crime (which can be avoided by moving) and economic malaise. I would think that showing the public they are at all willing to protect them from foreign threats by ending flights from Ebola-land would more readily ease them into complacence toward drunk driving meskins and head chopping Muslims.

"Bernabéu compared Spain to the US and pointed out that the Americans have 10 hospitals with the highest level of biosafety possible. Spain, in contrast, has just one suitable hospital with biosafety levels that are much lower.

Health authorities on Monday said that health professionals treating Ebola patients in Spain always followed protocols outlined by the World Health Organisation. "

IBT claims she had level 2:

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/ebola-spanish-nurse-contracted-virus-suit-worn-did-not-meet-safety-requirements-1468839

But, there aren't that many higher facilities, and they aren't going to be the receiving hospitals, and then, there will be human errors:

"Carlos III staff also provided pictures showing that the outfits were not vented and that latex gloves were secured with adhesive tape. They further noted that residues from the rooms of the two clerics were driven by the same elevator used by the rest of the staff."

It looks like if it is sub-Emory, it's going to end up fatal for the staff, and then the wider populace. I expect a general nursing strike if this keeps up.

I'm confused always about the assuredness of the vector. They (CDC/WHO) talk a good game about it being hard to transmit; it sounds like guidelines were built around this idea, and they are proving wrong here. Probably the emphasis on vomit transmission led to them thinking the protocols were sufficient.

That would also suggest that, as the whole West gets stupid and doesn't prevent incoming infected people, we're going to have revenge of the PIGS, with people coming back to national hospitals that are inadequate. Further, given how the symptoms present, if we're now at requiring level four hospitals, and there being just ten in the US, it seems prudent to have kept the virus over there.

There's some humor in the idea that Ebola is now being politicized like AIDS was politicized - e.g. http://twitchy.com/2014/10/12/king-county-wash-emergency-manager-says-worrying-about-ebola-might-be-racist/ - and so, if level 2 is what the hospitals are going for, and Wikipedia probably soft-pedaling here, it claims that's sufficient for Chlamydia, with some research hospitals being level 3, and only severe infectious diseases like Marburg and... Ebola... being suitable for level 4.

I guess we just got used to political diseases being somewhere sub-Chlamydia on the danger scale, because it's raciss otherwise.

Why is the NRA to blame? Because they successfully opposed President Obama's surgeon general nominee--Dr. Vivek Murthy--in March 2013.

Anonymous Noah B. October 12, 2014 7:40 PM

I can't find any evidence that the infected Spanish nurse was wearing a positive pressure suit. The Guardian and Washington Post both claim that the gear the Spanish nurses were wearing included gloves that were taped on and did not include self contained breathing devices, which doesn't sound at all like a positive pressure suit. Regardless, it seems amazing that a nurse could get infected under these conditions.

Here's a short video on the protective equipment being used while treating Ebola patients in Africa, including decontamination procedures. Pretty elaborate, but certainly not airtight, and still apparently inadequate.

Anonymous DavidK October 12, 2014 7:44 PM

Strange, the health care worker is infected before any member of the family that the infected man was living with? If they aren't infected, than it strongly suggests you are most infectious the further you have progressed with the disease.

Anonymous Noah B. October 12, 2014 7:56 PM

"If they aren't infected, than it strongly suggests you are most infectious the further you have progressed with the disease."

It does. People showing severe symptoms seem to be dramatically more infectious than those who are asymptomatic or who are just beginning to show symptoms.

Nevertheless, the screening procedures being used at international airports are practically worthless, and the CDC knows it. Someone could easily not have a fever and be infectious when they go through the airport, only to develop symptoms and be infectious a couple of days later. If it causes and outbreak and kills a few million people, what difference does it make?

Keep in mind that they did the exact same thing when HIV was first beginning to be understood. They knew the blood supply was contaminated because of the number of hemophiliacs presenting with AIDS, yet the CDC and blood banks kept giving people blood tainted with HIV rather than risking a panic. Nothing has changed. These government hacks still place greater importance on maintaining the public's trust in government than on saving lives.

One of the other elephants in the room not being discussed is that we are entering flu season. The initial symptoms of ebola are identical to the flu. If there are even modest ebola outbreaks in a few US cities, then the sheeple will freak out when they get the flu.

So during flu season, what will hospitals do when a bunch of patients present with flu symptoms. There is no way to isolate them all, and according to all I can find, at this current time the CDC wants all samples sent to them to confirm the diagnosis which can take up to two days. How are they going to weed out the thousands of flu patients from the few actual ebola patients in time?

It's not that strange at all actually. It makes sense that Africans would have natural immunity's to a disease that is inherent to Africa. About 1 in every 300 white males is immune to HIV. Inject HIV right into them, nothing happens; they believe it is because they are descendants of the survivors of the Bubonic Plague. What is another disease that rampages through Africa? Malaria. What are Africans far more likely to have than non-Africans? Sickle cell anemia. What does sickle cell anemia grant? Immunity to malaria. That's just a silly Internet rumor. In reality, once the face-hugger drops off the aid-worker, the heroic humanitarian volunteer just sleeps for a while and then is fine.

In addition, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have announced that any restriction on the importation of sleeping aid workers from the colonies and their distribution to non-disclosed locations in major population centers around the home planet could only lead to "blowback" and increased risks of plagues.

Closing the borders never leads to anything good, and it never offers protection. Don't even let that thought start.

Just like Bush was going to do the same thing for one reason or another.

It does not matter who is President. It only matters that the plebes think they had a say.

Get your votin' shoes on, bitch.

I love this talk about Martial Law! Who pray tell is going to enforce this? Have you not noticed that whenever an Obola administration official goes to a photo op with the troops that they are disarmed and have to remove the firing pins from their rifles? I think right there its obvious that the military is not on the trusted list. Sure, the feeling is mutual, but you NEED the military for martial law! I really doubt the state and local police could handle a Martial Law situation. Homeland Security is a joke. It took a hundred of them to arrest one chechen guy who wasn't even armed!
Have you seen the manhunt for the guy that ambushed two cops, and killed one? One hundred cops have been looking for him for two weeks and so far they have arrested a rifle and two cans of tuna! Hey, nice job there Barney Fife!

It's not as if we don't deserve it. We in this society have run up a tab; I have certainly contributed my share to the total. Roe v Wade alone was enough to break the bank. Add in divorce, the PIll, homosexual marriage, and everything else and it comes to quite a sum.

The words of our Lord come to mind:

Be at agreement with thy adversary betimes, whilst thou art in the way with him: lest perhaps the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. Amen I say to thee, thou shalt not go out from thence till thou repay the last farthing. [Matt 5:25-26]

Please understand that I am not complaining about having to cover my own costs. Over the years I have sinned greatly. My two small children, however, did not participate in the running up of this moral tab. They have done nothing wrong. Unfortunately, that fact will not protect them when the bill for Mommy and Papa's sins finally comes due.

Voting is useless. War is not yet come. All one can do is pray. I have begin praying the Rosary each day. I also pray the Saint Michael Prayer, which I recommend to all of you now:

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

I'd like to make a proposal: I am going to pray the Saint Michael Prayer each day at 9:00 a.m. local time [GMT-5, U.S. Central Time] starting tomorrow morning, and again at 9:00 p.m. tomorrow evening. I ask all of you Vox Day readers -- believers or not, wherever you are -- to join me in prayer at one of these two times.

Likely a political stunt so they can push an Ebola vaccine to 1st / 3rd worlders that ultimately sterilizes people.

Assuming this thing gets a footing in Europe/US.

ah, nice. i've already been wondering about Ebola establishing within an animal population in the Americas.

it seems that Ebola often propagates through bats and primates ( known ) and a antelope-like species ( new to me ). now isn't that special?

Heavenly Father,

Our nation has turned its back on you. We mock you in our art. We disdain you in our entertainment. We laugh at virtue and praise the vile. We enshrine injustice in our laws. We celebrate perversion. We murder children. Breaking all moral self-restraint, we are the most incarcerated nation on earth. Our worship is debased. Our charity is cruel, robbing men of their dignity and industry. Our financial institutions are dens of thieves, our universities debt factories and purveyors of filth and rot. Our fourth estate a fifth column, our scientists frauds, our legislators a pack of wolves dividing the spoils, our peace officers vicious. Our sins are piled high enough to reach the sky, who can number them?

We deserve the angel of death come reap a manifold harvest among us. You've given us ample time to repent, yet still we leave off doing so. Rather than return we spend our time plunging even deeper into wantonness. We deserve divine rebuke for our arrogance and indifference. Unless we cry out to you in humble repentance, our nation will not be spared.

Let us repent before our doom falls upon us.

Okay, probably very few are playing the game my way if no one here can imagine it.

The logic behind my plan is obvious in retrospect. If there is a breakout I'm highly likely to catch it, because reasons. If I catch it, I want to be one of the early cases so I have a better chance of surviving (before the hospitals start to break down). If I survive, I have immunity. See? Simple.

However, like the Watchmakers in The Mote In God's Eye, I think there is an infestation festering away somewhere in the US.

The unbelievers can pray their little hearts out, but unless their prayer is one of repentance God won't hear them. They have no mediator.

---------------

For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus... (NIV) 1 Tim 2:5

For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears attend to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. (NASB) 1 Peter 3:12

And this is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. (NASB) 1 John 5:14

He who turns away his ear from listening to the law, Even his prayer is an abomination.. (NASB) Prov. 28:9

So when you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide My eyes from you, Yes, even though you multiply prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are covered with blood (NASB) Isaiah 1:15

If I regard wickedness in my heart, The Lord will not hear; (NASB) Ps 66:18

Yes, that is correct. Now please move along, citizen, there is nothing to see here.

Anonymous DavidK October 13, 2014 6:06 PM

Odds are, anyone infected by Ebola can be cured with intravenous vitamin C and selenium. But that doesn't make a profit for Big Pharma, so they want us to wait until they come up with a drug or vaccine.

Also, keep in mind some of the people supposedly dying of Ebola are actually dying of malaria. The patient in Maryland that supposedly had Ebola turned out to have malaria instead.

Anonymous Noah B. October 13, 2014 6:48 PM

@The other skeptic

The current infection rate in Liberia can reasonably be expected to be around 0.1% (4000 currently infected with Ebola/4 million total population). They're telling us that 150 people from Liberia come to the US every week.

If we assume that people infected with Ebola are just as likely to travel as those who are not, then that's about 1 person infected with Ebola arriving in the US every week. In a worst case scenario, those who know they have been exposed to Ebola are far more likely to leave the country than the general population, just as Duncan did.

Assuming the US military has no effect on the spread of the virus -- which I think is realistic -- in another three weeks, that will become 2 infected people per week. Six weeks from now, it will be 4 infected people per week. It's a practically a given that they're going to stop flights from West Africa. They might as well do it now.

Anonymous The other skeptic October 13, 2014 7:08 PM

But that doesn't make a profit for Big Pharma, so they want us to wait until they come up with a drug or vaccine.

Russia claims it will have a vaccine in 2 months.

I am skeptical that it will be of much use in the Western world. If 20% of your population is getting very sick that is still a big burden.

So, 1M victims, 70M new employed people in the nation.

Anonymous The other skeptic October 13, 2014 8:22 PM

I guess that would have to be 1M new victims every four weeks (or less) but that doesn't seem to be a problem with Obola, does it?
