A new tagline

"Public enemy number one of the entire science fiction community." - RationalWiki

I like it, I do. They simply have no idea what they're in for next.

Follow me... follow me to freedom!

Kudos!

Blogger Thucydides January 31, 2016 6:59 PM

Rubbish. I'm a member of the SF community and don't consider you to be my enemy. You obviously aren't working hard enough ;-)

It is interesting how "they" try to appropriate the mantel of community for themselves, though. Most people I know who read SF simply are not aware of the Hugo issues, other than a vague sense of finding less and less good quality stuff to read. I quietly suggest authors like John C Wright and Castalia house as a publisher, but have no illusions that this will make a rapid change.

Still one more step forward is better than no progress at all.

Blogger SQT January 31, 2016 7:05 PM

Public enemy number one of the SJW community- that's for sure.

The whole science fiction community is a stretch. They may not like it but the ilk are part of that community no matter how much they try to push us out.

Blogger tz January 31, 2016 7:09 PM

The public anemone number one will sting you to death while you are underwater.

Rational Wiki is not real, much less complex. Some transcendentalist should throw a pi in their face.

Anonymous Mr. Rational January 31, 2016 7:09 PM

The real enemies of SF are the likes of the SJW editors at Tor, the clowns like Aaron Johnston who they select to "co-author" with writers whose boots they aren't fit to lick, and anyone who thinks that Rachel Swirsky writes SF.

Blogger Doseux January 31, 2016 7:11 PM

RationalWiki was probably well and properly converged before it even began. A good idea blinded by ideology... The irony shouldn't escape most readers.

Now RW is good mostly as an advertisement for its enemies. Well done.

Blogger Jourdan January 31, 2016 7:12 PM

Who voted them spokespersons for a genre?

Anonymous Rigel Kent January 31, 2016 7:17 PM

I'm imagining if this were Trump.

Reporter: Mr. Trump, what do you say to charges that you are public enemy number for Science Fiction?

Trump: Hey, I'm the best enemy Science Fiction ever had. Science Fiction has become a niche for the depraved and the damaged and their highest honors are just participation awards for the select. I'm going to drive all of these SJWs and pedo sympathizers out. And then, Science Fiction will be great again!

"I will make SyFy great again." Every story needs a good villain.

Anonymous Dedicating Ruckus January 31, 2016 7:56 PM

Just for giggles, I opened the RationalWiki page on you to see what it had to say.

They're using your WND article "Obama is bad" as one of their DISQUALIFY tactics. Based entirely on its referring to Obama as a "bad black man". (And, of course, the cite for this is to FreeThoughtBlogs talking about you, rather than actually to you. But that's just to be expected.)

I am slightly awed at the degree of missing the point.

Blogger David of One January 31, 2016 8:09 PM

Ahhh yes! Number 92.
Number 92 is the Number #2 reason to quit using Twitter.
Okay #92 is one of the #1's.
So #92 is one of the #1's and the #2 reason to quit using Twitter!

If you are in any doubt as to #92 being two of the top reasons to stop using Twitter, then do your own search on the "The 100 Worst People on Twitter".

I do wonder how many untitillating twitting twatters tweet on twitter?

No matter. Quit using twitter.

It does have a supremely dark, thunderous roll to it, doesn't it?

How much $? What's the number for their jingle house? I'm jealous.

Stop twatting twitters tweeting on twitter ... quit using Twitter ... remember #92!

Congratulations? Haven't looked at RationalWiki in years. Do you think any of them grasp the irony that they claim to be rational even as they foam at the mouth?

Anonymous Imagine This! January 31, 2016 8:20 PM

I have imagined The Donald and The Running of the CUCs. It would be legend!

The Donald with a whip of gold in a Chariot of Gold, pulled by 4 horses behind wild eye'd frenzied CUCs running for their lives down Constitution Avenue in Washington, DC.

Imagine with me, The Donald Running The CUCs out of Washington!

It can be an imagined event retold through the generations about how The Donald ran the CUCs out of Washington!

There are some fantastic quotes from Vox on that Wiki page. I found myself nodding at every one of them, which I doubt was the page author's intention.

Vox...I read the Rationalwiki entry on you in its entirety. I would like to say that I and my family continue our prayers for you and yours. You have touched upon something that the evil of this world cannot abide. I'm not a VFM and never will be, but I continue to pray for your health and safety. You are a target for the godless...and they cannot abide your existence. They cannot abide the truth.

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

A f****n men.

Blogger Dave January 31, 2016 9:57 PM

That is impressive. Some hyperbole now and then to spice it up. Now if only the community of political philosophers would get with the program. To think you could be multi-genre public enemy no. 1

Geez. Having never heard of "RationalWiki" until these comments I went there and read about Vox, Orson Scott Card, and Nick Gillespie. And that was enough for the rest of my life. You guys seem to indicate they're serious over there but it seemed like a sadly unfunny Onion to me.

I especially was interested that one of the terrible badthink quotes they used from Vox to indicate his horrible no goodness was: "It is absurd to imagine that there is absolutely no link between race and intelligence", which isn't even arguable, just as a matter of plain English and probabilities. You _must_ rule out any possible link between race and intelligence ... any at all, no matter how slim ... or else they consider you beyond the pale...

If yonder essay of eldritch horror is suitable for anthologizing, it's available. I have been enjoying There Will Be War on Kindle Select.

I only worry it would lose too much without the graphical element. Perhaps it is best set loose on the web, to drive a splinter of madness between the eyes of science fetishists and syfy SJWs alike.

The rendered fat from those massive bodies could power a dark sophont for 10,000 years.

And, by the way, I liked your history of the Peloponnesian War. Thought the Melian Debate was particularly creepy yet insightful. Was thrilled by your gripping description of the siege of Plataea.

Damn straight! That Jim Butcher, one of the best authors of our generation, got dissed by that warren of no-talent petty pukes really burns my cheese. He writes good, solid, entertaining, well-crafted, imaginative, speculative fiction. And that makes him anathema to them.
