Recognize!

The PFT Poet sums up a sterling end to the 2015 NFL Regular Season, with the Vikings back in their rightful position atop the NFC North and AD in possession of his third NFL rushing title.
The Historic Minnesota Vikings Dynasty officially began on this day.

Oh glorious, historic Minnesota Vikings.

We have the best team in NFL History….

The Decade of Dominance is officially here, you heard it hear first.

We will cruise throughout the playoffs for a historic Super Bowl victory, in the most glorious fashion.

We just took the Green Bay Packers title away…for good.

By the time Mike Zimmer retires and wins over 7 Super Bowl Trophies, the Lombardi trophy will be renamed “The Zimmer Trophy.”

Let the purple and gold confetti fall.

Recognize Greatness.
Recognize History.

Recognize your historic Minnesota Vikings.
Preach, preacher!

Well, the Pats were once the laughing stock of the NFL. I suppose anything is possible now.

Blogger Unknown January 04, 2016 3:38 PM

Heh.....was at the game last night. While technically it was a win, the Queens had a hard time beating a dysfunctional Pack. What a waste of great seats (50 yard line, row 26!). Best of luck to the Vikes though. Since my son-in-law lives in Minneapolis, as well as my kidnapped daughter, we have a mutual respect for opposing teams in our household.

If the past is an indicator, it will all end in pain, Vox. As a friend, I urge you to step away from the screen and read Marcus Aurelius until after the playoffs.

Look...I know there's always a rush to beat the April 1 deadline, but c'mon, this early is ridiculous.

okay, i agree.

this is less plausible than my "Redskins sandbag week 17, sweep the playoffs and win the Superbowl" scenario.

therefore, it will happen this year.

I told you Zimmer was a good hire.

Wanna trade Zimmer for Jason Garrett?

Unless the Vikings have joined the ELOE (the real one with teams like the Steelers, Patriots, Packers, and Giants), then we won't recognize this.

Just wait till your piddling Vikings meet with my mighty Seahawks. Victory is assured, but not for your sweaty oarsmen.

Blogger Mr.MantraMan January 04, 2016 4:36 PM

It was a strategic loss by the Pack, look good enough have Rogers throw the game and then take the better matchups in their half of the bracket and meet the Seahawks in the NFC championship game. As for the Vikes, one and done, greatness delayed yet again.

Looking at the playoff format... If the Vikings beat the Seahawks they'll have a date with the Cardinals -- which, if they beat the Seahawks, is a winnable game. If they get to the NFC championship they're either staring down Carolina, or at home against either Washington or Green Bay (who will have offed the other and Carolina). Beating Carolina and Seattle and Arizona on the way to the Superbowl would be most impressive -- especially if they then won over a good team. The AFC is a mess in my opinion.

Blogger Nate January 04, 2016 5:07 PM

Th amusing thing is that you seahawks and vikings fans think your team is actually in anything.

your teams are as out of it as my Titans are.

Blogger Dave January 04, 2016 5:29 PM

Sunday's game at 1 pm EST forecast is calling for high of 6 deg F but no snow. Too bad the first Vikings home playoff game outdoors since 1981(?) and as of now there is no snow in the forecast. Old man winter freakin better wake up and dump a foot of snow on Sunday. C'mon it's an outdoor Vikings playoff game, dammit.

Anonymous No January 04, 2016 5:31 PM

Nuh-uh Nate. Vikings got a little trophy. This year I am good with that. Next year's defense and qb ought to have us where "only" winning the division will be a disappointment.

The Tightens? The Tightens are sorry. What the hell happened to those rascals? I used to love those ex oiler bastards...now I can't even see them on tv...

Anonymous Hmm January 04, 2016 5:35 PM

Just think where the Vikings would be if they still had the sparkle punter. /s

Anonymous Jabari January 04, 2016 5:41 PM

@20: I dunno Nate, the Seahawks scare me still (Cardinals fan).

I'm hoping the Cards were just sleepwalking through that last game, but Seattle has unfortunately looked pretty good the last few weeks.

Blogger SS January 04, 2016 5:48 PM

This will all end in tears.

Blogger Ben January 04, 2016 5:54 PM

Vikes have arguably toughest road to superbowl of anyone. Seahawks are good, even though they got owned by the same Packers we just beat at home (SKOL). And the loss of Ellison probably will be a problem for Teddy. At this point, who knows. If Patterson and AP can just remember to hold on to the damn ball...

Blogger Jack Ward January 04, 2016 5:57 PM

@11 Nate: Well now, the Falcons did beat Carolina. If they can do it anyone can. I have to believe, though, that Carolina did not bother packing suitcases for the Atlanta game thinking, perhaps, how can these people beat US?
In the playoffs you would hope Carolina could at least be willing to warm up before the game.

While I have nothing against Andrew Luck, I'm hoping the Colts hire him. But he'll probably wind up back in college.

Anonymous Cadwallander J January 04, 2016 7:58 PM

Wildly off-topic, but Vox will want to forget this post once the Vikes have ripped the still-beating hearts out of their fans yet again this year. I predict a pick-six to lose to Carolina in the last second similar to the Favre interception a few years ago.

I just listened to a sympathetic report about the wildlife center takeover on NPR of all places. It made the occupiers sound like lovable scamps with perhaps a little unusual set of Mormon orthodoxy, painted a favorable picture of the Hammonds (noting that their sentencing was seen as punitive and excessive), and had local people with supporting quotes.

Now what the hell does one make of that? At least makes me think that the drones won't be dropping hellfires anytime soon. They said the media presence outnumbered the militiamen.

A playoff after the polls seed everybody, sure. As to Minnesota, I'm a Seahawks fan - I don't think Minnesota has much of a chance to even play Carolina, let alone beat them.

Blogger Mikey P January 05, 2016 12:48 AM

If you do not know who Carl Eller and Alan Page is, turn in your purple.

Anonymous Supernaut January 05, 2016 1:16 AM

I'll say this - no team in the NFL is hotter than the Seahawks right now entering the playoffs...but I'm betting the Vikes play them much tougher than that blow out a few weeks ago.

For one thing, the best Defenders at every level of the Defense where out of that game.

Linval Joseph, Anthony Barr, Harrison Smith and Andrew Sendejo were all out of that one. All except Linval should be back for next week...and he might be a go too (until his foot injury, was the best DT in the league and will probably be named All Pro 2015.)

While I am totally a Viking homer, and certainly appreciate the sweet taste of the purple kool aid of the PFT Poet, I'm not optimistic about the Viking's chances here. I'll just say this - this game should be a lot closer than the last one with a healthier Defense with critical starters at LB and in the secondary playing this time.

Anonymous Pax_Romana January 05, 2016 11:48 AM

Peterson is the Vik's only bullet in the chamber. Seahawks have a good QB, a decent receiving core, Beastmode will be back, and a Defense that has allowed the fewest points, 4 years running.

Good luck, Viks, because if you beat my Seahawks, you've got a long slog ahead.

Anonymous Jake January 05, 2016 7:56 PM

1. I've been reading PFT since almost the start of the blog. PFT is a troll, not even a Vikings fan, just a guy saying outrageous stuff to get attention.

2. No way Minnesota beats the Hawks this Sunday. AP ran for under 20 yards last time. There was a return TD; otherwise the Vikes were shut out 38-0.

3. The Vikings will play a better game this time, and the cold will help them out.

4. Seahawks 31-10

Blogger Azimus January 05, 2016 8:54 PM

Well, the Vikes earned it no doubt - the NFC North Champion anyway. I think they have a LONG way to go to be the "Glorious Minnesota Vikings Dynasty." But playing in the NFC North has made the Packers easy pickings in the Playoffs, you take out the Superbowl champ year and McCarthy is 3-6 in the playoffs over 10yrs. Maybe the Vikes will do better. Well you won your shot now let's see what you do with it...

Blogger Azimus January 05, 2016 8:57 PM

We have the best team in NFL History...

I have to admit, the 41-0 98 NFC Championship game is my favorite semifinal of any level of any sport of all time...

... and how many Superbowls has the glorious Minnesota Vikings dynasty won anyhow?
