Confessions of a sociopath

Either John Scalzi gets a little forgetful when he's virtue-signaling or he is even more openly sociopathic than his stone cold "give no fucks" mentality would indicate:
John Scalzi Verified account ‏@scalzi 4 February 2016
Related, writing something that shows you're a horrible person and then proclaiming "it's satire!" neither makes it satire or excuses you.
Apparently this is neither satire nor excusable:
"I’m a rapist. I’m one of those men who likes to force myself on women without their consent or desire and then batter them sexually. The details of how I do this are not particularly important at the moment — although I love when you try to make distinctions about “forcible rape” or “legitimate rape” because that gives me all sorts of wiggle room — but I will tell you one of the details about why I do it: I like to control women and, also and independently, I like to remind them how little control they have." - John Scalzi, 25 October 2012
So, which is it, Johnny? Are you a rapist? Or is it satire?

Say what you want about Scalzi, but he really and truly doesn't care what anyone thinks of him. Semper Fi, you badass.

If I didn't know what an utter pussy and weakling Scalzi is, I'd say he has big brass balls. I think he may be something past SJW to be able to separate reality for himself and the rest of the world so easily.

I keep hoping Scalzi will self-destruct from his innate internal contradictions.

So far, I remain disappointed. But at least his theatrics are funny. So there's that.

Blogger Thomas Davidsmeier February 04, 2016 3:39 PM

I can't believe he actually said something. I thought Roosh actually took a little inspiration from Scalzi for his piece, though that might have been because I read the two close together in real time.

Presumably Johnny boy has read or at least heard of A Modest Proposal. I wonder if Swift was a horrible person. If he thinks yes, why would it be so? Scalzi condones child abuse at Science Fiction conventions. Maybe in his worldview a satirical essay about eating children is bad but allowing them to be fucked by homosexual rapists is ok.

Anonymous VFM #6306 February 04, 2016 4:03 PM

Holy Moses.

Famous quotes in psychopathic history:

"I see myself more as a victim rather than a perpetrator... I was cheated out of my childhood."

"There’s been 11 hardback books on me, 31 paperbacks, two screenplays, one movie, one off-Broadway play, five songs, and over 5,000 articles. What can I say about it? I have no ego for any of this garbage."

"I should never have been convicted of anything more serious than running a cemetery without a license."

Which John? Scalzi or Wayne Gacy?

Or maybe Scalzi's just channeling Ted Bundy instead: "I don't feel guilty for anything. I feel sorry for people who feel guilt."

Anonymous Curlytop February 04, 2016 4:15 PM

What is striking when reading both satires, is how much Scalzi enjoys being as colorful and detailed(to the degree of triggering a trauma episode from a victim) as possible; whereas, Roosh is very clearly making a valid point about the fallacy of a woman being held responsible for drinking & driving versus drinking & screwing around casually w random men. Roosh's use of rape is simply by THEIR definition, yet it doesn't prevent the hysterical media from trotting out real rape victims—I noted one from the DFW CBS story was held by knifepoint, no parallel at all) to comment on Roosh's.

Worst of all has been seeing how this has revealed the spineless among our group who have piled on as it comes at the same time we are facing the Invaders. Paul Joseph Watson showcases it well in his write up.

I hope Roosh and all rise above this latest SJW attack and are able to continue their meet ups.

Haven't you guys learned anything from recent history? There are good reasons to stop rape (feminism), there are bad reasons to stop rape (raycism), and there are really bad reasons to stop rape (patriarchy). Stopping rape isn't noble in and of itself - it's really just a tool. You better get with the program, or you gonna get Rooshed.

Can we start doing that? Using "to Roosh" as a verb? That'd be pretty sweet.

Really, just last week ConJohn was a INFP or a feeler and deep thinker, super smart, smarter than Vox, etc., anything to compete with Vox.

Last week expression of how important JOhnCon feels and feels our pain deeply and is so nirvanic. What a weird and oddball expression from ConJohnRape.

What are the options acting, Ohioan monster, mental illness, satire-acting, character creation.

Blogger LP999 S.I.G. Burnin' Up Gold, Cooling Under Snow February 04, 2016 6:41 PM

Nate, our voice of reason has a important point. ConJohn lacks sense of agency as his career isn't going well, what does his publisher say of his history of comments?

12 Alarming: Or maybe Scalzi's just channeling Ted Bundy instead: "I don't feel guilty for anything. I feel sorry for people who feel guilt."

10, forgot about that. multi personalities appears like an issue. If that is the case, MP's further his profession but again what are these publishers and SF groups going to say to condoning the vamperving of children and rape?

My theory is ConJohn needs to be viewed as unique, values unpredictability, super smart. COnJOhn is a series of oddities to compete with those ConJohn views as in his purview.

But ConJOhnRape would disagree or might disagree stating the views we've read of his comments are all just jokes, satire and feeeelings.

You nailed it. Scalzi's "I'm a rapist" article struck me as over the top the first time I read it, which was before seeing any commentary here. No matter how many times you tell yourself "it's satire", there's something creepy and off about the manner in which he repeatedly describes controlling a woman's body against her will.

Roosh? First time I read his "rape should be legal" article I knew, without any doubt, that he was merely trying to make a point and was not actually advocating for rape in any capacity. I also cringed because I knew that he was inviting a shit storm, that his enemies would twist and use his article against him.

I don't have children but I do have nieces. Going off these articles I would trust Roosh to watch them while I went to a store. But I would threaten Scalzi's life if he even tried to get close to them in a public setting.

Maybe I'm wrong. But that's my honest, gut evaluation of these two men based on their writing.

Anonymous 5343 February 04, 2016 7:54 PM

Yeah, I read Roosh's post to my 21 year old son last night and told him, in all seriousness, "This is currently the most vilified blog post on the Internet". He laughed out loud.

Blogger Gapeseed February 04, 2016 10:54 PM

@36 LP999 - Man, was I annoyed that Vox named Scalzi an INFP. As an INFP, it darkened my day.

I didn't have a good reason for it to darken my day, though. After all, I had not, for better or for worse, read much of Scalzi's work or blog, so I ventured over to his blog and hunkered down.

First, I still don't think he's an INFP, although he might be one who got himself jacked up on Tony Robbins or some other self-help guru after his layoff from AOL. INFP's are inherently shy, and Scalzi seems to be way too image-conscious and self-promotional to be one of us (also, he's too productive in a chatty way). I don't think he's my cup of tea as a writer, but he's not dumb (other than being a straight line Liberal Democrat).

Scalzi's big mistake was picking a fight against Vox he thought he could casually win to buttress his popularity as a politician. And egads, what a mismatch - Vox is a stone cold killer while this guy is posting cat pictures. And what's worse for the man, he seems to be pretty much stuck. Scalzi has an audience that wants him to be their champion against Vox, and he doesn't consider himself to be free to back down. Meanwhile, it seems Vox can engage and disengage at will, disappearing into the internet jungle in 4GW fashion. It doesn't help that Vox seems to live in his head, that Scalzi's audience is long on emotion and short on logic, and that the danger to the Hugos is a direct result of this self-inflicted wound that could well get worse this year.

In short, I think he's a nice guy SJW (albeit, probably not an INFP) who picked on the wrong guy. It's a little bit tragic.

Blogger SciVo February 04, 2016 11:07 PM

@ Gapeseed:

I think I'm INFP, although my test results are all over the place. (I actually think that's a tell.) He certainly doesn't act like one, but it's plausible that he's out of his depth and acting out his ESTJ shadow.

His tweets and blogs of the past regarding his wife and daughter make his claims about how women need controlling most amusing. He would have more success herding cats.

But OTOH, maybe it is that very unmanning administered by his wife and daughter daily that makes him have these urges to feel like he actually can control somebody. He must secretly loathe the women in his life.

Anonymous Alsos February 04, 2016 11:27 PM

This could be a theme. Scalzi's next "guns are compensation!" outburst (it will happen, you know it will) can be countered with a gallery of pictures of his exploits in posing like female centerfolds and female fantasy covers. Nothing screams that you're insecure about your sexuality and masculinity than cringe-inducing antics where you go w-a-a-a-a-a-a-y too far in demonstrating how secure you are about your sexuality and masculinity. Compensating, indeed. It's the compensation equivalent of a gun owner wearing a BMG-equipped codpiece.
