New Hampshire: Trump, Sanders win

This is your open thread to discuss the New Hampshire results. If Hillary was anyone but Hillary, the media would be pronouncing her dead. I suppose we'll have to wait for Super Tuesday before they can make the definitive case.

UPDATE: Bernie Sanders wins!
Senator Bernie Sanders beat Hillary Clinton among nearly every demographic group in the Democratic New Hampshire primary, according to exit polls.

He carried majorities of both men and women. He won among those with and without college degrees. He won among gun owners and non-gun owners. He beat Mrs. Clinton among previous primary voters and those participating for the first time. And he ran ahead among both moderates and liberals.
Donald Trump also did better than expected.
  • Donald Trump 35.1%
  • John Kasich 15.9%
  • Ted Cruz 11.7%
  • Jeb Bush 11.1%
  • Marco Rubio 10.7%
  • Chris Christie 7.5%
  • Carly Fiorina 4.1%
  • Ben Carson 2.3
Interesting to see that Carson is apparently willing to throw his support to Trump. As I mentioned previously, Carson could help Trump seal the deal. I expect that will not have escaped Trump's attention and that The Art of the Deal author will be in touch with him sooner rather than later. He won't offer him VP, though, but a Cabinet seat.

I just read a report from the ground from ABC News exit polling showing that new voters, in which this primary is expected to see a record number in N.H., are breaking 2-1 for Trump. Same poll also shows D women voters ages 18-34 voting for Sanders 85 out of 100.

The Drudge headline at the moment is amusingly misleading. Yes, Cruz, Kasich, and Trump all have 24 percent of the vote, but that's with just one percent of it counted.

Why do I keep expecting Bernie Sanders to interrupt his own speech by shouting, "You kids get off my lawn!"

Not all older folks give off that vibe, and he doesn't really present any of the physical cues that herald that kind of thing, but I keep waiting for it...

I have not paid attention at all this week after the Iowa scam. Going in I would have said 1.Cruz 2.Rubio by razor thin margin 3.Trump close but not razor thin.

That Rubio is such an inept and incompetent angry little Latino jumping bean has led the rigging to favor the laughable establishment puppet candidate from Ohio. Ergo swap the puppet for the jumping bean above and thus my prediction.

No, they expect 500k votes today, and the 24%-24%-24% number was based off of about 50 actual votes in three towns at 12 am this morning. Nothing else closed before 7pm. They said 11 sites are open until 8pm.

He'd just stand off to the side sadly waiting for them to get off his lawn, and then apologize for the systematic injustices the elderly have historically committed against Young-Americans, not the least of which is the use of hate-speech slurs like "kids."

I'm looking at how the Republican delegates will be apportioned.

NH has 14 at-large delegates because each state gets 10 to start with, plus bonus delegates for various categories; NH qualified for 4.

The statewide winner could really make out like a bandit here, because he gets all the unassigned at-large delegates. Only candidates that get at least 10% of the vote will qualify for delegates, and the initial apportioning is based on the statewide total; so if only a few cross the 10% threshold and there are a lot of also-rans, there could be a lot of spares.

Each Congressional district gets 3 delegates, which are basically apportioned the same way, but I don't think they're at-large. I think they will be apportioned separately for each of NH's two districts, which are different enough that the 1st elected an (R) and the 2nd elected a (D).

Finally, 3 specific state party leaders are automatically unbound delegates. That will probably trip up most people's calculations, even if I'm wrong about the district delegates not being at-large. Only 20 delegates are being chosen here, not 23.

I think Trump has a good chance moving forward. The establishment has spent all its rounds. The troublesome part is who gets the candidates who drop out votes. If Trumps ends up with 40% tonight, that still leaves the establishment with quite a bit to work with going forward. NH like Iowa is homogeneous. Its going to be interesting to see how white voters in states with diverse electorate respond to Trump.

Anonymous The OASF February 09, 2016 8:53 PM

What to really look for from here on out is how well the establishment puppet candidates do, along with JEB!. If they can keep squeezing out 10% or so of the vote via the rigged diebold and Microsoft app voting mechanisms then the GOP sodomite establishment memes can keep making their case for a brokered convention.

But the truly valuable aspect of this primary is that fat bastard sat on the Mexican Cuban Latino whatever jumping bean and squashed him into Colombian coffee grinds. It has been as VD said about 200% more entertaining than usual.

Blogger Stilicho February 09, 2016 8:58 PM

With any luck, Kasich will stay in NH. He staked everything on a good show there and it was probably the smart move since NH tends to favor RINOs over more conservative candidates. Kasich is pro obamacare, pro amnesty, pro drug war, pro big govt, pro welfare, pro gun control (although OH GOP explained that he would get nothing thru legislature if he tried that shit and he backed off) and carefully ambiguous about abortion. I expect he could have beaten Bernie...

As I've said, it all boils down to the preference cascade. With 19% in, it's breaking down like this:
Trump - 34%
GOPe (Kasich, Bush, Rubio, Christie) - 46%
Cruz - 12%
No-hopers - 6%

It's about the preference cascade.

As to the Dems, I think the GOP needs to start thinking about how to beat Biden.

Incidentally, I finally confirmed that I was right about the CD delegates being chosen separately by each district, and not part of the statewide allocation.

Blogger SciVo February 09, 2016 10:54 PM

So, what will the delegate totals look like after this?

I've realized that I made three mistakes with NH. One, the state law doesn't say anything about apportioning Congressional district delegates separately; two, it also doesn't say anything about excluding the party delegates. Finally, in calculating the spare delegates that will go to the leader, it isn't about what percentage of the vote goes to candidates that don't qualify; it's about the number of delegates that don't get assigned to those that do, and they are rounded to the nearest whole delegate.

Projected by me with 60.6% of precincts reporting:

New Hampshire
11 Trump (8 at-large + 3 bonus)
4 Kasich
3 Cruz
3 Bush
2 Rubio

Iowa *
8 Cruz
7 Trump
7 Rubio
3 Carson
1 Paul
1 Bush
1 Fiorina
1 Kasich
1 Huckabee

Projected Total
18 Trump (1219 to go!)
11 Cruz
9 Rubio
5 Kasich
4 Bush
3 Carson
2 [withdrawn] (Huckabee & Paul)
1 Fiorina

* The Iowa total includes the three party delegates. Although the national party rules would have them unbound, "According to the Republican Party of Iowa's bylaws, if more than one candidate is nominated at the Republican National Convention, all of Iowa's delegates are bound to vote "proportionally in accordance with the outcome of the Iowa Caucuses" on the first ballot, even if the candidate has withdrawn from the race." As for Sanders. Hilary will fair a lot better when they hit the states where the non palefaces live. At which point it will be game set and match. Wonder if the millennial whites that are in love with the communist will wake up and realize the democrat party is no place for white people as a result. Rubio and The Village People...

http://www.towleroad.com/2016/02/marco-rubio-gay/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIQguMqPcEc

“Marco Rubio was, as a high school and college student, known to be a very extroverted homosexual in both South Beach in Miami, a popular gay area, and at college in Gainesville, Florida.”

The piece contains an alleged photo of Rubio (below) in 1989 “dancing and singing in a South Miami troupe that combined the Chippendales with The Village People.”

"In order to prepare for the University of Florida, Rubio attended Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville. Republican sources have told WMR that Rubio, Barrios, and two other students shared a townhouse in Gainesville that was known locally as a “coke house,” where cocaine was readily available, as were almost non-stop parties in what amounted to an off-campus gay frat house. In 1987, Rubio’s brother-in-law, Orlando Cicilia, was busted by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for his role as a key figure in a cocaine smuggling ring in south Florida.

After graduating from the University of Florida, Rubio attended the University of Miami Law School. In 1995, Rubio claims he met his wife, Miami Dolphins cheerleader Jeanette Dousdebes at a “foam party” in South Beach. There is one thing wrong with Rubio’s story: foam parties in South Beach were almost exclusively gay events held at gay clubs like “Warsaw Ballroom” and “Amnesia,” the latter name befitting some of Rubio’s memories of his time in Miami."

“In 1989, a year before Rubio was arrested with his friend Angel Barrios and another unidentified male friend in Alice Wainwright Park in south Miami, ostensibly for drinking beer in a car after closing time in a park known as a pickup locale for gays.”

"Decades after his legal run-in with Rubio, Barrios was associated with perhaps the most notorious gay porn ring in Miami history, an Edgewater house full of models with names like “Khali Kreme” and “Sincere Luv” who had sex all day in front of dozens of webcams."

Isn't Kasich where Chewbacca is from?

Anonymous rubberducky February 09, 2016 11:48 PM

Kasich's surge doesn't surprise me one bit and I called it a while back when I heard he'd picked up John Weaver. Weaver's the best New Hampshire GOP operative in the game, he pulls off stuff like this.

But Trump dominated, he won every issue in all the exit polling data I saw. He won most of the demos, too, including those with more than a high-school education. That was supposed to have been his weakness. Fifty percent of the voters said they made their minds up on the day of the vote, and they broke heavily for Trump. This was an epic win and giant middle-finger to the GOP establishment.

Loving it, frankly.

And on the Democrat side Hillary lost every single demographic except for voters aged 65+. She wasn't close to competitive in most of the demos, too, Bernie was wiping the floor with her across the spectrum of people. She's hoping black Americans will save her in South Carolina, but there's no way she can get them out to vote like Obama could.

We got insurgency riding high everywhere. About damn time.

Blogger Doom February 09, 2016 11:48 PM

They still ripped Trump off. They just weren't able to do it as well or easily as they did in Iowa. That Kasich came in second makes me suspect they take whoever has some local support and cheat their numbers up. They plan on stealing it from Trump by pooling the rest behind some stooge. !Heb! might just "win".

Dems don't matter. They don't have a prayer, literally, figuratively, or actionably. Godless fucks anyway.

blacks aren't going to vote for Sanders.

I'm wondering if blacks will show up to vote in the primaries.

My informal, yet fully scientific bumper-sticker poll shows 100% Sanders support in a majority black city. However, if I control for Prius ownership, the results change to 0% Clinton, 0% Sanders.

(In 2008 and 2012, the bumper-sticker metric [patent pending] showed 100% Obama support among Chevy Caprice owners with rims and NASCAR license plates. Science is many things, and most of them are confusing.)

If the GOP wanted to black-knight the everloving shit out of the primaries, they could recruit Young Republicans to sign up for Uber. When primary time rolls around, they all hover around college campuses and offer free rides to the polls. There's a non-zero chance that Uber would waive their own fees for this, or could at least be shamed into doing so.

While we're on the subject of gaming the system, I have to acknowledge the Kasich's team strategy of turning "What's a Kaysick?" into momentum that Bush's brother envies.

High-five to kfg for the Nashua joke. I got that reference.

Blogger buzzardist February 10, 2016 2:00 AM

How could Hillary be considered dead? The way the Democrats tally votes and delegates, with nearly 90% counted, Sanders has 60% of the vote to Clinton's 38%, which earns Sanders 13 delegates to Clinton's 15 delegates.

If you're a Democrat, it doesn't matter if you lose. Even if you lose badly by a 3-2 margin, you still win!

If Trump tops too many more contests, I'm expecting the GOP to start awarding delegates this way, too.

in terms of the November election outcome, it does not matter who gets the Republiscam nomination. If Trump, the open-borders Zio-globalist Cucks will desert the the Dead Elephant - some to sit it out, some to vote Clinton - and Hiligula wins easily. If not Trump, the implicit White Nationalists (in even larger numbers than 2008/'12) will boycott the fake election again...and Hiligula wins easily. Either way, Republiscam party goes defunct, and Mrs. Clinton - completely incompetent, totally corrupt, and absolutely murderous - will be on the bridge of the Titanic when it hits the debtberg. Hi Everyone,

I have been baptized as a catholic. But their cuckservative message makes it almost impossible for me to attend mass and listen to their permanent PC drivel.

I would like to attend a Church that is in accordance with my values, think ilkotism.

I would be grateful to anyone helping me find a new christian gathering/Church (protestant, which one?; or orthodox).

I have just been inspired by Lent to change my behavior and improve my discipline for the coming 40 days. Not to get brownie points with God, but as an act in self-development. (No dessert, chocolate, restaurants, fries, etc; no porn (I know)).

Anonymous Midnight Avenue J February 10, 2016 7:15 AM

@ 112, look up SSPX and affiliated traditional Catholic churches. Look for Tridentine rite mass in your area...the nearest to me is held once a month at a church in another state, worth the drive though, it's in pretty country.

I have attended mass at a local Ukrainian Catholic church, as well as at a Russian Orthodox church. Both are highly conservative and don't cleave to the PC notions of the Catholics. I am Catholic born and bred and cannot stand to hear the sermons any longer. And our local Presbyterian and Episcopal churches were holding Eid al Fitr iftars for the growing local Muslim population - despicable.

Anyway. I know it's a sin but sometimes I feel better off at home, reading the Bible with the kids and singing hymns and reflecting on the day's Gospel reading than I am at Church.

Best of luck to you in finding a true community and fellowship.

Blogger vashine February 10, 2016 7:32 AM

As a Catholic man, no baptized, but a convert as of less than a year ago, you are taking the wrong course of action to try and find another church. You can find friends, companions, build relationships with other like-minded Christians, but abandoning the Church is the absolute wrong thing to do. You are called to educate and edify yourself, and FIGHT for the Truth and help the Church stay true to the Truth and its Teachings. That is your calling, your cross, your mission. It is the most important of your missions in life.

The Church's teachings are perfect and eternal, even though its laity and priesthood have NEVER, ever been perfect. No faithful Catholic, or truly faithful Christian of any sort, has lived in an era of perfect ease and comfort, where there were no battles to be fought inside the Church itself, for souls, for Truth and Tradition.

Your path is NOT to pull an evangelical-protestant church-search where you run around looking for the place that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Your job is to get focused, serious, start learning and educating yourself on the true Faith, its official Teachings, its traditions, the reasons and history behind them, and then be a man, a leader, and hold those around you, priests and laity alike, to account. Share that learning and increase in discipline, increase in manful Faith, with any and all who seem thirsty for it.

Get together with alt-right or nationalist Christians of any stripe, but never forget that the source and life of your Faith is only to be found on a Catholic altar, in the Eucharist itself and all the disciplines, traditions, and truths that stem from that Real Presence. Doing that will give you the power, purity, and clarity of mind to begin disabusing other Catholic men in your sphere of influence of their cuckservative programming.

White men everywhere know the score and are thirsty for other men like you to start speaking the truth and acting on it. Even in Catholic parishes. Remember, the SJW types are all alike, wherever they are. Cowards at the end of the day. And most are not half as committed or psychologically warped as the SJWs we see in the media and online. And when you have the Magesterium, the Church Fathers, Scripture, and the Catechesis and 2000 years of Tradition on your side... you have the upper hand, no matter how loud their bark might be.

Have a great Lent.

Blogger vashine February 10, 2016 7:38 AM

SSPX is NOT Catholic. In heart and spirit they might be, but their priests are not apostolic and NOT ordained by the Catholic Church and are expressly forbidden from performing a Mass.

They need to come back into the Church and help the other orthodox faithful take back the Church from the homo-Marxist priests and laity that have corrupted so much of the church's culture and infrastructure.

Taking communion at and attending an SSPX mass does NOT fulfill your Sunday or holy day obligation. You are committing a sin by not fulfilling that obligation, one you need to repent of before taking the Eucharist again.

He also called him Marco Fruitio. I think it'd be great if Trump "accidentally" called him that.

That's one of Trump's greatest weapons, which nobody else is really quite ready, willing, or capable of using; the ability to make his opposition look ridiculous.

Trump is a great example of the rhetoric/dialectic divide, because he's such a master of rhetorical persuasion. You could write a whole series of posts explaining his rhetorical appeal.

Anonymous rubberducky February 10, 2016 7:52 AM

@112 Look around you for a Catholic parish that still performs a Latin mass and give it a try. It's not foolproof, but such parishes tend to be faithful to the Magisterium. It is impossible to support both the Magisterium and the Democrat party, you can't get past abortion without running afoul of deep moral problems, not to mention gay marriage. These parishes tend to be very conservative and not exactly enamored of Vatican II, to say the least.

My parish is such a place. I live in an extremely blue-state liberal Democrat region, and every Sunday our priest gets up there and guilts the hell out of all my hopey-changey neighbors as only a crusty old Catholic priest can. It's awesome.

For a good mass, look at FSSP or Institute of Christ the King in your area. If that fails, a diocesan parish offering the latin mass is your next best bet. Then check SSPX, in that order.

Contrary to what has been said above, the SSPX is NOT outside the church. However, they are in a cononically irregular state. If you can find another latin mass to attend, it will be better for you spiritually than the SSPX; but I'd go to an SSPX before I ever attended a Vatican 2 mass.

What no one mentioned is John Kasich should be considered the new mainstream establishment Republican instead of big losers Bush and Rubio. Coming in number 2 is a BIG DEAL for now. Cruz had better win a few state at the southern states or he loses momentum after his win at Iowa. It is almost a trend that conservative Iowa winners don't win the nomination.

I don't think Carson is in any position to make any deals with Trump with only 2.3% of the vote. Carson's votes already went to Trump at NH. I think its likely Cruz will pick up Carson's votes at the southern states.

The non-serious candidates are beginning to throw in the towel -- and about time, too. What surprises me at this point is not that Paul, Christie, and Fiorina are out, but that Bush and Carson are still in.

Cruz and Rubio are enough alike that one of them ought to be the other's VP.

But I continue to consider Trump an empty bag of hot air, with an agenda just like Hillary's. If it's Trump vs. Hillary I'm voting Gary Johnson.

If it's Trump vs. Sanders I'd probably vote Sanders, for two reasons. Sanders is very unlikely to get his socialist agenda past Congress, even to the extent Obama did -- and Sanders is the only candidate except Paul to even mention criminal justice reform, which is sorely needed.
