My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic, Season 5, Episodes 1-2, "The Cutie Map"

Communism and equalism are never off-topic when it comes to white people. But I liked "Party Pooped", what with immigration being the current threat to Western Civ, and cultural protectionism and national pride being the correct response.

The season five opening of MLP was a shiv to the ribs of the equality of outcome philosophy, with a hefty dose of Soviet and North Korean communism. Being a show with broad appeal among the SJW crowd, but a story counter to their viewpoints should trigger them nicely.

Blogger Skylark Thibedeau February 26, 2016 8:32 AM

I'd certainly say that of those 'Hardhome' is probably the best. The scene of the Night's King taunting Jon Snow as the recently dead became ice wights was epic.

I'd thought of a few other episodes of show I thought were terrific but turns out all were aired in 2016.

My Little Pony nominated for a Hugo...that's some epic trolling right there.

Those particular episodes are especially good. Got a bit of Animal Farm in them. (And no, I'm not a brony, but I do have a six-year-old daughter.)

There is a small but vocal overlap between the alt-right and the brony community. For obvious reasons, the bronies are indifferent to mockery. For reasons that elude me, the bronies are VERY enthusiastic about their hobby, eagerly seizing the slightest excuse to share it.

Hence, when My Little Pony (apparently) goes anti-SJW, the word spreads quickly.

The Night’s King character doesn’t appear in the books at all.

Slightly OT: Puppy stuff aside the ‘Rape Rape’ label should really go to the series writers who epically messed around with the books to the extent of changing the time-line just so they could have moar gritty sex scenes™ (and we are not even going into the epic stupidity of what they did to the Sansa/Littlefinger plotline).

Considering they were able to maintain motorcycles, cars and steam engines, it really does require huge suspension of disbelief. But does have the grrrl power going for it with a clan where there are a large number of female warriors. So a little less to disbelieve. Or something.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we should be happy that shows like MLP are sharing a non-SJW message amongst the kids. The media and their peers have just as much (if not more) influence on kids as us parents do. Culture informs politics as many are fond of saying.

Again.. you really need to watch this before you cast judgement on it. I laughed at first as well. Then I watched 10 minutes of part 1 and sat there is stunned awe of the glorious EFF U on display.

Anonymous Pax_Romana February 26, 2016 11:50 AM

I know the main worry is about MLP, but a friend from high school showed that episode to me (he's a conservative Christian). I didn't enjoy it, but I was pleased to see that kids and middle aged men are getting a decent anti-SJW message.

What I was confused by was Life is Strange. I've played the game, mostly just to finish it once I had started it, and I didn't think it was worth the hype. There were moments that were good - personally I liked episode 2 the best - but a large portion of it was SJW propaganda. At one point in that episode, the character looks at a flyer for a sci-fi book club which lists Marion Zimmer Bradley, and she exclaims, "All my favorite authors."

What did you like about it, sir?

Blogger Sun Xhu February 26, 2016 12:04 PM

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm not questioning Vox's nomination of it on its merits. I just would never have considered the possibility of it and it made me chuckle. I will definitely check out the nominated work.

Anonymous Pierce O. February 26, 2016 12:12 PM

Paul Michael Johnson's 'TIE Fighter' animated short was quite nicely done. The dramatic presentation categories do not seem to require that a work be 'professional'.

Psycho-Pass 2 was excellent. I'm still pondering whether to nominate an individual episode, or the whole series. I'd love to nominate "The Scales of Justice <299/300>", but alas, it aired during the fall of '14.

Not a good pick, in my opinion.

I watched the first few episodes of Into the Badlands. Lots of style, I like the main dude, and really liked the Baron guy. The supporting cast however is weak, especially the "special" boy. He's downright terrible.

But, I lost interest with the sheer numbers of super amazing ninja girls. I can suspend disbelief for one or two, but when it's every other chick?

As for guns, I think they were simply outlawed and not lost technology.

Malcolm, we are in agreement. And yes, that episode of Daredevil was a masterpiece. The whole series was done quite well, but the fight scene at the end is a highlight in terms of cinematography and choreography. I've seen long-shots done in fight movies before, but rarely are they done with this degree of skill.

I'd blame my six-year-old niece, but the truth is that my (adult) little brother found out about Bronies on the internet sometime during season 2 and remembered I was horse-crazy when we were younger. The combination of nostalgia, good animation, and unusually good writing for a children's show was irresistible. :P

Anonymous Kyle Kiernan May 02, 2016 4:33 PM

I had to ban my kids from watching Captain Planet and similar crap, so MLP is a refreshing change in the cartoon universe. I've watched several episodes and never been shortchanged or had them try to denigrate my life or culture, plus they have good stories with good writing. Caught an episode this Sunday with cameos of a Doctor Who inspired character plus the bowling team from Big Lebowski. Laughed my ass off.

Nominating MLP in this category is freaking genius.
