Breitbart needs a housecleaning

These leaked messages demonstrate that it's amateur hour at Breitbart; the various contributors not only lacked the discipline of the VFM, but couldn't resist the urge to jump in and become part of the story:

Well, they're not standing with her anymore, and rightly so. Speaking of the VFM, I've requested a retraction and correction from the editor-in-chief. I'm giving him a few days to respond before we amplify the volume. As it happens, Nuzzi has already updated the piece a fourth time without correcting it; she's putting it all on Jeet Heer now.

@VD

You should add the tag "women ruin everything" to this piece

Michelle, if this was legit, then you should be humble for life at being the cause of this

And if this was not legit, and you made the entire thing up, and it looking more and more like you did, then shame on you, you empty empty woman.

Anonymous PhillipGeorge©2016 March 15, 2016 5:41 AM

watching the video it is possible that if Michelle is on like a gram of aspirin per day that the contact could cause a bruise. We need to know what blood thinners she's on as to whether or not she can be in any public space without a warning sign. Is she hemophiliac? A pat on the back for example might result in extensive bruising. Be cautious with high fives, victory hugs, pats on back. If you don't ask you can't have informed consent. Any history of DVTs after long haul airline travel?
Reporters perhaps should have their own security detail.

As a precaution all female reporters at public events might need to fill health questionnaires to make safe space for the more vulnerable. The more vulnerable bit here is the reader.

I wonder if Jordan or Brandon are behind the leaks? They sure don't like Jason's attempt to straddle the fence. Jason needed to lay down the law but didn't. Not just "don't say anything," but "say something and you're fired."

Iron deficiencies also lead to easy bruising. Its also the most common anemia in child-bearing age women.

I don't take asprin and am not a hemophiliac. Dito my children. No rough sex, but i've sported bruises like that on my forearms and all my kids have fingerprint bruises where i tickle them.

It can also be a lack of protein or an otherwise poor diet. The picture is poor but the bruises look pretty superficial to me.

The media should move on to something more newsworthy. At best, this was an honest accident and should have been handled privately between the parties.

Fields is either a bought and paid for liar or she is a misguided women who doesn't realize she is being used as a pawn. No one cares about her bruises. This is manufactured outrage.

Who files a police report over such minor bruises? What a waste of manhours.

Breitbart is well rid of her. Now, they might want to do something about the genius who decided Twitter was a good venue for a staff meeting.

Fields resign? She was sacked, wasn't she and Shapiro therefore had to go too. Both are unethical journalists.

But civil war rages at Breitbart - posts on Cruz huge rally at Decatur by someone called Michelle Moons, other anti-Trump posts one after the other, then posts removed.

Breitbart was certainly infiltrated by the Fox establishment, now finally waking up. And are Fields and Co sacked from Fox? Not a bit of it.

Sure. The breitbart reporters were pissed that management wasn't defending one of their own.

Blogger Marie March 15, 2016 8:41 AM

@27

Thank you.

First, I never said they should have been told to "just shut up." I said the conversation shouldn't have been continue in writing beyond the order. The reason I said that was precisely for the reason you mentioned- the reporters were ticked.

They should have made a statement to the reporters stating the policy. Including the comments that Breitbart is responding and waiting for the Trump campaign to respond. Any statement made by a Breitbart reporter, even privately, will be attributed to Breitbart. They could add some feel good statements in there about standing by Fields. Then- anyone who wishes to discuss this further can call.

You do not allow your employees to vent about a media shitstorm in writing. You let them call or come into your office and vent there while you talk them down.

I bet you 10 to 1, that's exactly what Joel's bosses are telling him this morning.

OpenID denektenorsk March 15, 2016 8:50 AM

Who the hell has this kind of meeting over Slack leaving a paper trail? Verbal is a he said-she said so it doesn't usually get leaked as it's plausably deniable. That's why you have per location in-person meetings so you break up people into groups (less chance to embolden a feces stirer) and ideally you ensure no recording devices are in play. Posterior coverage 101.

Even video game companies (who are not the best managed things on the planet) tend to get that right. Reporters (who deal in leaked stuff ALL THE TIME) should know better.

Amateur Hour indeed.

Not surprised, when I heard that little rat was finally sacked, err, resigned, I thought ''The Blaze, Glenn Cuck would want him, no doubt''.

While all the online videos made it clear Fields was lying (or, at minimum, wildly exaggerating), my husband turned on Fox last night and Fields' faux almost-crying, "worst thing since my daddy died," flicking back her hair pose just made me nauseated.

This overgrown child has obviously been told she's extra special her whole life. Add in entitled feminism, two different magic "minority" group memberships, and her belief she's an absolute knockout, and you have today's toxic American woman.

I suppose I can understand a certain desire for in-group loyalty, but to blindly support a colleague because muh noble journalism instead of even a slight concern for the truth just reminds me why I really don't trust ANYTHING I read online, until I've read at least half a dozen different sources/blogs.

something i haven't seen anybody else comment on ... from the video it appears that Fields was grabbed by the bicep / upper arm.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NoMPxomjiw&feature=youtu.be

BUT

the picture of the 'bruise' that she posts is ... on her forearm?

https://twitter.com/MichelleFields/status/708005032839548929/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc^tfw

well, that right there demonstrates that she's a lying sack of shit.

i'm willing to wait for a better camera angle, but the man's forearm appears to be angled far too high for him to be grabbing her forearm ...

Blogger Hostem Populi March 15, 2016 10:14 AM

No one who jumped on the Fields story ever believed that anything happened, they were flinging feces and hoping something would stick in a desperate attempt to stump the Trump, as the kid's say.

I agree.

I've had men move past me like that in a crowd at a business function. They always (gently) grab my arm right above the elbow.

I don't see how the bruises on her forearm could occur without more witnesses to the event. Unless she's saying he moved her arm straight down by her side.

Anonymous Alexander, #10 March 15, 2016 10:21 AM

Looking at the Republicans falling over themselves to condemn the violence as Trump's fault, they still clearly don't realize:

Trump's supporters over time come to like Trump, but they are their in the first place because we despise the rest of you lot.

Yet they really believe that if enough of them go out and say TRUMP R BAD, people that were thinking about voting for Trump will be swayed. Or that if they can broker a convention, a bit of slick talking and Trump's supporters will give in and vote the Cuck ticket.

But hey, maybe there's still hope. They should organize a Mexican mob to attack Trump's rally before the California primary. That'll do it!

well, there is a VERY slight possibility that he has grabbed her forearm and levered it up ...

the problem with this scenario being that you would think that her left hand would then be visible above his arm.

after all, you are constrained by the physics here, her forearm would be pivoting at the elbow and very nearly vertical for this to be the situation by the time he gets finished shunting her to the side.

so this looks far more like she forgot where he actually grabbed her and faked bruises on the wrong portion of her arm.

regardless, it's clear that this was in NO WAY an assault. he 'touched' her, yes. but he didn't come close to forcing her down, threatening her or significantly harming her.

Anonymous rubberducky March 15, 2016 11:19 AM

Ben Shapiro and Michelle Fields were on The Kelly File last night. IMHO, they blew a big hole on their own case. They repeatedly minimized the physical injury, and repeatedly claimed that what the whole thing boils down to is journalistic ethics, proper responses from management, etc. In other words, the whole thing turns out to be how to babysit and bruised egos.

Who wants to get involved with that, are they serious? The whole thing looks like internal strife among competing factions in an election season. It's a bunch of anklebiting and drama!

It's the same kind of thing any guy does who is doing a job and needs to get by a woman who won't move. Look at her expression. She wasn't shocked, hurt, frightened, etc. The worst part for me is her insistence that this the 'worst thing to happen to her' since her father died.

The videos that supported the Trump campaign actually started coming out the same day this story all started. So Shapiro was standing by the hoax even with video that disputed her tale of woe. He really jumped the shark when he called people repulsive who believed their own eyes over her lies.

Charles Johnson also has let slip that the man known to BB readers as William Bigelow is in reality Ben Shapiro's own father. When it came out, Little Chickenhawk was extremely upset about being embarrassed yet again.

I haven't had a chance yet to see if that story about his dad still stands, but it explains a whole lot of why the Breitbart website was sliding down the tubes at a substantially quick pace.

While the Blaze/Beck are indeed trying to recruit him, another story has him jumping to his own new Soros funded website.
