We are the spectre

Allum Bokhari thoughtfully provides establishment conservatives with a Guide to the Alt Right:
A specter is haunting the dinner parties, fundraisers and think-tanks of the Establishment: the specter of the “alternative right.” Young, creative and eager to commit secular heresies, they have become public enemy number one to beltway conservatives — more hated, even, than Democrats or loopy progressives.

The alternative right, more commonly known as the alt-right, is an amorphous movement. Some — mostly Establishment types — insist it’s little more than a vehicle for the worst dregs of human society: anti-Semites, white supremacists, and other members of the Stormfront set. They’re wrong.

Previously an obscure subculture, the alt-right burst onto the national political scene in 2015. Although initially small in number, the alt-right has a youthful energy and jarring, taboo-defying rhetoric that have boosted its membership and made it impossible to ignore.

It has already triggered a string of fearful op-eds and hit pieces from both Left and Right: Lefties dismiss it as racist, while the conservative press, always desperate to avoid charges of bigotry from the Left, has thrown these young readers and voters to the wolves as well.

National Review attacked them as bitter members of the white working-class who worship “father-Führer” Donald Trump. Betsy Woodruff of The Daily Beast attacked Rush Limbaugh for sympathising with the “white supremacist alt-right.” BuzzFeed begrudgingly acknowledged that the movement has a “great feel for how the internet works,” while simultaneously accusing them of targeting “blacks, Jews, women, Latinos and Muslims.”

The amount of column inches generated by the alt-right is a testament to their cultural punch. But so far, no one has really been able to explain the movement’s appeal and reach without desperate caveats and virtue-signalling to readers.

Part of this is down to the alt-right’s addiction to provocation. The alt-right is a movement born out of the youthful, subversive, underground edges of the internet. 4chan and 8chan are hubs of alt-right activity. For years, members of these forums – political and non-political – have delighted in attention-grabbing, juvenile pranks. Long before the alt-right, 4channers turned trolling the national media into an in-house sport.
I leave it to you to decide whether we belong with:
  • The intellectuals
  • The natural conservatives
  • The meme team
  • The 1488ers
Regardless of their merits and demerits, all of these alt-righters are to be preferred to the cuckservatives and the GOPe sellouts.  I've been called "an alt-right figurehead" and I am perfectly fine with that.

And if you're going to call me a nationalist, that's fine. Just make sure that you get it right and call me a "red nationalist".

I think they are less camps, in many ways, and more thrusts, or priorities. Different individuals may be more or less drawn to one or the other of them at different times, without identifying exclusively with them.

Except the 1488ers. The Stormfronter crowd strikes me as largely delusional and not very useful. As well as not very likable.

The Ilk, Dread Ilk, Vile Faceless Minions... we fight on the same front, but I believe we are sufficient enough in mass that we make our own camp, our banners dripping with the blood of our foes as well at any faceless one who questioned the size of his daily bone ration.

And speaking on banners and armies, I am given to understand that on of the bands that fought for the Royalists in the English civil war did so with a flag of a naked man holding a sword in one hand and an erect penis in the other, under the motto "ready with either weapon".

If confirmed, I believe we may have the first documented case of Shitlord Patriarchy making teh rape jokez in the Anglosphere.

@Josh
When did the dark enlightenment morph into the alt right?

It's not. Most of the people who are alt-right have no idea about dark enlightenment writing and people, but have basically come across the ideas and adopted them when they saw they were correct.

Basically most of the alt-right are people who just scooped up dark enlightenment truths without knowing where it came from.

They're so closely related they're almost the same thing, but they're not.

In the beginning I would peg the alt-right as "hard core" conservatives given to writing lengthy boring essays basically about their wonderfulness as committed conservatives versus the sellout conservatives. Then it morphed into non-PC to Identitarian essays and finally memes are starting to be produced showing political maturation.

It literally is the only thing worth reading or discussing on the right and perhaps the whole spectrum of political thought. The rice bowl conservatives like George Will are exposed as frauds, decades of intellectualism being flushed down the crapper as he spews rhetoric at the real enemy Trump

Blogger White Devil March 30, 2016 5:31 PM

In the Alt Right, everyone takes responsibility for themselves. When you decide to take yourself seriously, it is not longer for authority or the herd to tell you whether you are good, decent or correct.

When you are your own man and so too is your neighbor, can live together. It doesn't need to be my business what color he paints his house, or his business what jokes I laugh at.

As someone coming from a Libertarian economics background should expect, political Liberty means you have more energy, more resources to devote to your own ends, rather than maintaining order and a safety net.

Thus, the Alt Right will always defeat the pudgy Cuckservatives and feeling-addicted Progressives. Its intellectual and moral energies are not absorbed in policing itself.

The actual adversary of the Alt Right is not who build the political establishment, but what that establishment is built on: The Enlightenment. That foundation is flawed and incomplete. The fairy tales accumulated on it must be blown away. The concrete must be subject to a forensic investigation.

The battle will be between those who cherish their vision of History and Civilization and those who want to make a cold eyed evaluation of it. Love must give way to Knowledge and then a new kind of love, one of appreciation, rather than infatuation.

But I don't think we even know the field we'll be fighting on, much less who will take it against us. We don't know until the cucks and progressives have been cleared away.

Blogger Josh March 30, 2016 5:31 PM

One reason why the Alt Right remains strong is that its leaders are disproportionately a) Game-aware, b) Alpha, and, c) homosexual.

Remember the 90s and seeing Jon Stewart (Liebowitz IIRC) with his smug, condescending take on politics from the regressive left's perspective?

I do, and I think this sums up exactly what the alt-right is about - ending the cultural narrative monopoly that is controlled by smug liberal douches.

Shrug. Nothing. If that's not enough for you, then welcome them aboard. I prefer to be wide-eyed about their limitations, though.

And I think it's tiresome to constantly have to explain that, no, their imaginary, traditionalist, freedom-loving Nazi Germany didn't actually ever exist, and that's well documented even by its contemporary cheerleaders.

Blogger KJ March 30, 2016 5:43 PM

I suppose the catch all category could be: Anti-Establishment.
Since the left seems to own the entire establishment we can either fight or leave.

Blogger White Devil March 30, 2016 5:45 PM

Then it morphed into non-PC to Identitarian essays and finally memes are starting to be produced showing political maturation.

I think we're seeing an organic thing, a living, healthy thing. The Alt Right has an intellectual economy, where theorists render forms and experts produce facts, whether intellectuals translate heavy ideas into workable memes, where provocateurs make Memes into Dank Memes, where a DailyShoah will break taboos and exorcise the paranoid energy from the disaffected... and all of it joins behind a few figureheads, to break new ground.

Whether it's a spear breaking flesh, a shovel breaking earth or a tall ship breaking water... when all the parts are in place, we're going somewhere.

And after all the worries about "how" we find someone like Trump, who is just standing his ground while his enemies fling themselves at him, providing all the energy to pierce their own rhetorical armor.

It's like a math proof or a riding a bicycle: You can hardly believe it was an obstacle after you've overcome it.

Alt-right creates the memes that circulate and reach ears and minds, they stay in most minds unformed for any action till a leader "States the obvious" that of course in this case is DT.

Speaking of DT if the early polling is correct WI is in Cruz's column. Maybe he can borrow some of Bob Whitaker's free speech memes and get back on track.

I expect, if it is not already happening, the establishment to feverishly try and co-opt the alt right and turn it into a useless waste of time arguing pointless minutae. Out of nowhere people no one have ever heard out will be promoted as leaders. The anonymity of message boards is some defence but they are being shilled hard to create a false narrative or to stir up divisions and create in fighting.

The Stormfronters are mostly been found to be useless, stuck on Commander Rockwell's script from 1960. Don Black tried to influence them with Whitaker styled "Mantra" points and meme methods but they want the slop of "Daily Outrage" and jew bashing and that is what they pay for and nothing else. Though some have stepped out of that box and have done some courageous things they mostly just go back to their caves and shadows.

In short you want nothing to do with them whatsoever, they mostly raise money for the SLPC and the ADL (ask our jewish posters how the SF types are used)

I agree. "Politics is downstream of culture", as they say, and the alt-right has been busily working to take the culture from the establishment by building online communities and leaving the establishment to rely on the threadbare cloak of "respectability" and "credibility" that still clings to obsolete media like newspaper and television.

It was mostly organic, unintentional and undirected, but now it's gaining direction and a long term perspective as can be seen in the Puppy offensives.

I've touched on the "meme teamers" on my own blog -- I've pointed out how ridiculous it is going to sound to white kids 20 years from now to hear an old fart like Ice Cube (if he's still alive then) give them crap about being racist haters, just because he got hassled by the cops when he was a punk-ass kid back in the ancient 1980s.

I thought it was a fair and broad, if slightly shallow overview, about the best one could expect from any popular media.

I've known some tweeker/skinhead types and can see what everyone seems to hate about them...the simpleminded, one-level bigotry for self-esteem's sake(at least, that's how it's presented and how I've seen it)...but really...if I had grown up with too much more "vibrant diversity" in my life, I could have been in that crowd. It's not hard to hate when surrounded by those that already hate you openly with no consequences.

I've never identified as a neo-nazi, a white supremacist, or any such thing, but as VFM #7916 said above, there's nothing wrong at all with the "14" part. I still can't figure out why people seem to think it's bad, unless they really just hate white people and want them extinct. I suspect most never really thought it through, and simply follow the current narrative that both cucks and progs follow and promote: "other" races, ethnicities, and religions are allowed any identity and behavior they like, but whites and Christians must be the all-loving Good Daddy, or even sacrificial lamb, to take care of everyone else's problems. White supremacy at it's best, really, except it fails to benefit most whites in any way!

While I understand the distancing, I think a lot of the core issues are shared by 1488's and everyone else. Being forcibly stripped of identity by punishment from government, media, and eventually society itself tends to breed a bit of resentment in those who have not learned the mental arts of self-flagellation for the sins of others.

Blogger Jourdan March 30, 2016 7:34 PM

I highly recommend Ann Coulter's new column, as she explains in detail the case for no R being electable in the upcoming general election, though with hope that *perhaps* Trump may be able to pull in enough new European-American voters to pull it off. I don't see that hope paying off, though not because Trump can't do it, but because the numbers are just that bad.

As she says:

"The only question for Republicans is: Which candidate can win states that Mitt Romney lost?

Start with the fact that, before any vote is cast on Election Day, the Democrats have already won between 90 and 98 percent of the black vote and 60 to 75 percent of the Hispanic and Asian vote. Unless Republicans run the table on the white vote, they lose."

We need to start thinking non-electorally-only, perhaps on a movement modeled like the Sinn Fein/IRA strategy, a nationalist/ultra combo that will eventually cause those opposed to accept the nationalists for fear of the ultras.

Trump has finally inspired me to leave Islam

"Hey the_donald, I'm a 19 year old girl living in America with muslim immigrant parents. Until yesterday, I had not once removed my Hajib in my life while outside. I tried to do it once when I was 10 years old, and my parents grounded me for a week.

"Let me tell you something right now, there are no 'moderate muslims'. There are no 'assimilated muslims'. Throughout my life, I have been to three different mosques regularly. Everyone there had some kind of animosity to America. Either they support jihadist actions outright or they refuse to condemn them, or they victim blame christians and the west. Every time theres a terrorist attack, all over the media there are reports of muslims who speak out against jihad or protest terrorists... This is bullshit."

And accurately describing Stormfronters as both unlikable, delusional and mostly pretty useless to any cause they choose to champion is not snark. It's merely accuracy.

there's nothing wrong at all with the "14" part. I still can't figure out why people seem to think it's bad, unless they really just hate white people and want them extinct.

They tell you that you are responsible for the actions of your ancestors because you cannot evade history.

So you ask them, white invented medicine and sanitation doubled lifespans worldwide, am I responsible for that?

Then they tell you that you cannot be responsible for the actions of your ancestors because you didn't do anything.

They don't believe that you are responsible for the actions of your ancestors and they don't believe that you are not.

They are anti-white and believe whatever is anti-white.

We have nothing to lose. They've taken everything. We have no choice but to fight. It's victory or annihilation. And if we lose, let's make their victory a very costly one.

Anonymous Neocolonial March 30, 2016 9:37 PM

Neoreaction has gone quiet now, and is genuinely happy to have done so. It's inherently non-populist, while the Alt-Right is largely a populist counter-movement. Note Milo's positioning of the alt-right as cultural-libertarians — in direct opposition to cultural-marxists .
The alt-right needs to be wary of that label — cultural libertarianism — and the premise it carries. Libertarianism is a dynamically unstable ideology. At any one point, given a sufficient quality amongst its people, libertarianism is an logical solution. However it inherently abandons any pretext at selecting its people along a given path, allowing that all paths may be best in order that the best may be found. In failing to make a consistent or overarching judgement, it weakens the will of, and association within, a people for their own history, traditions and kind.
Combine an ongoing lack of intentional selection with resource abundance and you get the IQ drop we have seen over the last few generations. You get the ongoing degradation and destruction of the institutions of Western Civilisation.
Vox , his VFM, and the Evil Legion of Evil are a far more promising model for the future — groups acting in hierarchy under the sovereign command of an exceptional individual — than allowing the Alt-Right to become another time-moulded tool of power.
Finally, consider the Iron Law of Rebellious Tools:
https://reactionaryfuture.wordpress.com/2016/03/05/the-iron-law-of-rebellious-tools/
And the Procedure:
http://thefutureprimaeval.net/passivism-and-the-procedure/
Become Worthy. Build better societies; don't simply fight over the levers of the systems and power structures of the society that reduced us to what we are now. Don't play a rigged game.

More and more we see freaks here calling for monarchy.... it was fine when it just the Lone Mad Spartan. It was even entertaining.

Blogger Cataline Sergius March 30, 2016 10:05 PM

It's a good article. I liked it.

It left me wondering about something. I've said this before but it bears repeating. In the normal flow of politics when a party falls form power like the GOP did in 2006, there follows a prolonged period of painful reexamination, reassessment and rebuilding.

It's a long, slow process. Usually about 15 years.

But thanks to Obama's overreach the GOP was recalled from exile after only four years in the wilderness.

So this process is now going on in the public eye, when normally it takes place behind the scenes. At least that's what I used to think.

Now, I'm less charitable.

The guys at the top convinced themselves that 06 and indeed 08 were just aberrant hiccoughs due to an unpopular president. They are doing just fine and didn't need to make any course corrections at all.

It's not so much that they won't change, it's more that they can't. They are a bunch of old guys with old guy values. They can't adjust to us at all.

Their view seems to be, 'well if you think we're so wrong, why do you keep voting for us? Yeah, we thought so.'

Conservatives have worked for a long time to build up an infrastructure of power, but once they have some they turn into or reveal themselves as grubby scum for sale at a low price. I despise the self righteousness of the left, and now I get it from the right.

The only response it to troll. Both sides are like Victorian aunts with the desire to shriek in horror at reality when it intrudes. So make them shriek. The more the better.

Cheddarman, that sounded like something from an Evelyn Waugh novel.

"Empire brings the word to your doorstep. I love England too much to wish for another empire." said Major Cheddarman.

"I meant wogs not word" said the Major finally, pouring another Pink Gin.

If Lincoln is the tyrant (the man who killed the Constitution), then I daresay from the present look of society, America has been a dictatorship masquerading as a constitutional republic for 150 years, muddling along on the residue of its citizens' declining public virtue (otherwise known as moral and cultural decay).

And any person who thinks that electing a 'Constitutional Conservative' (or any man) to the office of President as a correction factor is deluding themselves, and really doesn't understand the Constitution (at best, in my opinion, Trump will delay the inevitable collapse, which is one of the few reasons I can vote for him; he gives me more time to prepare).

Bands of men under direct, capable leadership do not a monarchy make. But they do tend to avoid the pitfalls of libertarianism.

Nate wrote:The Dread Ilk are among the most individualistic and self-reliant people you will find.

Which is rather the point. Individualistic and self-reliant people in voluntary service of a greater good, led by the greatest among them is the model for the right.

Men like that build things that need to be built. Men like that break things that need to be broken.

...

And yet I wonder at the instinctive grab for the closest analogy that comes to mind — Monarchy! — rather than consideration of the breadth of scope of the option they have already largely formed.

What 'this' is like is not a particularly useful question — it shuts down the imagination rather than freeing it.

My great uncle helped organize the 2nd Michigan Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War, and served briefly as their 2nd in command. They were financed by popular subscription. They bought their own uniforms, artillery pieces, guns & uniforms. US Army provided pay and provision. They arranged their own training and drills, and elected their own officers.
They enlisted and served as a group, serving a full year beyond their enlistment.

Can't help but think society was healthier at that point. Strong individual responsibility mixed with strong community.

Yet it decayed from there to here. The strong institutions that nurtured that strong community are largely gone. Now we have individualism — not a sense of individual responsibility. And there is far less 'greater whole' to have responsibility to.

The 14 and 88 words were originated by David Lane. As far as I'm aware his 88 had nothing to do with Adolf Hitler. By what journey it became associated with that I don't know (friendly or hostile interference).

White people standing up for themselves as they see they are being targeted as the enemy by the traitorous state, is not at all stupid. Symbols and logos are a good way of identifying your side from the enemy. Fourth Generation Warfare is done by irregulars and guerrillas. Uniforms are not involved. Having handy little ways of identifying your side from the enemy is essential when there are no uniforms there to see.

Anonymous Just Sayin' March 31, 2016 9:46 PM

The Alt-Right is simply the most recent wave of the resistance to what is being done to our civilization. The real resistance, not the phony resistance.

As such, it is the product of a certain place and time and is (very vaguely) defined by certain tactics and sub-cultural elements, as much as by ideology.

Pat Buchanan's views would fit right in, but he is not Alt-Right because he's a remnant of a much earlier wave, with different tactics and different cultural touchstones. That's also why Stormfront has nothing to do with the Alt-Right.

But you can't get away from the 1488ers because you can't get away from /pol. That's where most of the memes come from.

I was cringing as I read it because every word Anglin says is utterly true.
