Convergence at ESPN

It's no secret that ESPN is fully SJW-converged. But now they're not even bothering to hide it:
ESPN has fired Curt Schilling over his recent anti-transgender comments on social media.

Schilling, a baseball analyst for ESPN and former Boston Red Sox pitcher, shared a Facebook post this week that lampooned critics of recent laws passed in North Carolina and other states restricting transgender men and women from using the public restrooms that correspond with their gender preferences. Schilling added his own comment to the post, criticizing transgender people.

“A man is a man no matter what they call themselves,” Schilling wrote. “I don’t care what they are, who they sleep with, men’s room was designed for the penis, women’s not so much. Now you need laws telling us differently? Pathetic.”

The original post featured a man in a wig with his breasts exposed, captioned, “LET HIM IN! to the restroom with your daughter or else you’re a narrow-minded, judgmental, unloving racist bigot who needs to die.”

After first announcing Wednesday that it would review Schilling’s comments, ESPN announced later in the day that it had fired him. “ESPN is an inclusive company,” the network said in a statement. “Curt Schilling has been advised that his conduct was unacceptable and his employment with ESPN has been terminated.”
I quit reading ESPN years ago. But they are clearly an excellent demonstration of my Impossibility of SJW Convergence in action, which states: The more an institution converges towards the highest abstract standard of social and distributive justice, the less it is able to perform its primary function.

ESPN can't even employ an intelligent Hall-of-Fame commentator to discuss baseball if he doesn't publicly submit to the SJW Narrative. That is full convergence. Sports is no longer ESPN's primary function.

A similar thing is happening in the NHL. A player from the Blackhawks was suspended for a PLAYOFF game for saying the word "faggot." One could argue he deserved to be tossed for a game since he was yelling abuse at the officials, but the NHL specifically suspended him for saying faggot.

Ridiculous. I'm sure he could've called the ref a "cocksucker" and no one would've cared. But because it's been decided that faggot is "homophobic", this player gets suspended. Unbelievable.

Luckily, thanks to the Internet, one can pirate any number of sporting events that ESPN has the contracts to. I encourage everyone reading this to do so and also blacklist their website.

ESPN turned into MTV Sports more than a decade ago. When I cut the cord, I thought I'd miss "sports," but realized how little sports I actually watched through ESPN channels.

Every perv will suddenly declare themselves momentarily "trans" to get access to the other sex's bathrooms.

The US will become a tourist hotspot for Japanese men who love them some pee action. And no one dare stop them.

Actually, that sounds like a great opportunity to black knight. Start pushing the idea that watching women go really turns on low SMV Asian men.

Every perv will suddenly declare themselves momentarily "trans" to get access to the other sex's bathrooms.

Really, if you want to get these laws changed, the best way to do so is to do exactly that: use the women's bathrooms if you're a man.

Do it en masse in protest, do it often. Stop using the men's room. Be sure to do it in clothing stores, lingerie shops. And feel free to not focus heavily on your aim.

THAT will change these laws fast.

@6 ESPN became MTV sports when they first decided they had to have girls on the desk because “equity” or something.

Women ruin everything.

Be interesting to see how the Target decision plays out, since their customer base is middle class to lower middle class, and those broads might not like a man in a dress in their space.

Blogger Amy April 21, 2016 11:22 AM

I can just see it now...transgender registries, proving you're really a tranny for the sake of using the women's bathroom or locker room. Maybe you even have some sort of papers you have to carry, or a badge you wear as ID.

Not a surprise that yet another arm of the Hydra that is Disney is converged, complete with falling ratings and attention stunts such as covering "sports entertainment" instead of sports.

As long as one man in a wig is barred from the little girls bathroom the leftist's fight against the 1% can wait.

I have found if I simply say left's instead of leftist's people think I am seriously advocating for the Soros narrative.

“I don’t care what they are, who they sleep with, men’s room was designed for the penis, women’s not so much

Especially the ones at the gay bars that lack barriers and have a mirror above the urinal troth, that is what they will be advocating for next.

ESPN has a radio station in my market. Their hosts from the flagship in Bristol are terrible, but from a nice broad spectrum of the diversity rainbow, and that's all that really counts.

Actually, the degree to which all sports are converged is absolutely amazing when you think about how much sports used to be associated with men being men. But, I guess that made it a target.

The hockey thing is hilarious. Maybe BGKBS can inform us, but I didn't think that sport was popular with that demographic at all.

Blogger Ron April 21, 2016 11:29 AM

Good for ESPN. I for one encourage them to hold fast to their principles, whatever they are and to enforce that standard of belief among all their employees and customers, regardless of the cost to their business.

Now is also a perfect time for a feisty alternative to ESPN to set up shop and compete.

See? None of this is a problem. This only becomes an issue once some asshole decides to pass laws enforcing their bullshit.

Anonymous Rolf April 21, 2016 11:30 AM

So, ESPN, let me get this straight (no pun intended). My teen daughter likes swimming, and I'm supposed to let any dude who pleases just waltz into the changing room to join her, I'm not supposed to challenge him or make him uncomfortable, on the grounds that he might "feel like a woman" on that particular day, and I'm supposed to assume that nobody will possibly take advantage of that (not to mention when we are letting huge numbers of people into the nation that show no inclination to assimilate)? I supposed to just wait until her picture shows up on the internet?

Let me think about a moment.... Uh, NO

Anonymous Elipe April 21, 2016 11:32 AM

@14 there are already gate keepers there. It's hard to make any money if cable companies won't carry your channel, Radio stations won't carry your programming and the government won't give you a license to broadcast the channel on your own.

You could go the internet route, but it is going to be hard to have a model that makes enough money for you to pay the various leagues for coverage rights.

ESPN is unwatchable. Males are only allowed to view athletics when the action is surrounded by feminist/PC commercials and PSAs. Sports is allowed provided we ingest a crapload of leftist/globalist propaganda along with it. We must be emasculated even as we watch the last masculine activity in the Western world.

I support Curt in this, but the whole Bathroom Brouhaha is the direct result of the Left AND THE RIGHT shoving their totalitarian Equality down our throats for forty years. Now, the Righties conveniently forget their own complicity, as they pretend it's all about Preverts hanging around bathrooms.

Yet these same men have been completely silent for the past forty years when the exact same Equality was used to make their daughters the 'valedictorian' or to shove her to the front of the line for college, scholarships, careers, handouts, special privileges, laws named after her, and all the rest. All done under the convenient cover of Equality and Protection. And Big Daddy LOVED how that made him The Big Man, and put him at the front of the line in the cultural/financial hierarchy. Don't think it went un-noticed.

Now Equality is coming back to bite the cowards and opportunists and cuckservative traitors in the butt, and I have ZERO sympathy for their cries panic and injustice. There were no cries of panic and injustice when they (and their leftist collaborators) smashed the lives of men and boys on the way to their Wonderful, Diverse, Equal Matriarchy. Now the world is suddenly supposed to stop for the widdle beebies, and the iniquity they've laid on millions of others is supposed to magically disappear, because sputter sputter, the LGBTQZS-ers have invaded the bathroom of Precious. LOL! NOW, at long last, the 'conservatives' are outraged.

No, I'm not in favor of 'transgendered bathrooms' but I AM in favor of just consequences, and the American Right is finally starting to feel some of those. Instead of just raking in the money and strutting.

Given all the hate hoaxes in the past week, maybe the best way to deal with this would be a fake staged video maybe at some business that's closed at the time. Have the released "surveillance" video show a little girl running out of the girls bathroom, some white guy like general Boykin or Col Kratman going into the bathroom who drags out an ugly obviously man in a dress out & pummels the tranny. The video would go viral with SJWs and their reactions to it would sway any moderates. As long as the man in the dress was in on it there would be no charges to worry about & leftists would be desperately trying to find out where the video was shot. Any ILK a manager at Chuck E Cheese?

The whole idea here behind these ignorant laws and disingenuous outrage of SJWs is to get different groups fighting with each other. That has been the whole premise behind Obozo's pathetic presidency. Pit one group against another. The few liberals who have intact families with both parents and children would never allow a 5 year old daughter to enter into a situation like that. But of course it is always good enough for you to deal with that and 3rd world wild animals flooding in the US, ghetto animals under HUD subsidies to invade white neighborhood for them to destroy. Liberals rarely have to feel the effect of their own policies.

Nope. Not gonna happen.

See, trannies now are being given the authority previously limited to women, including “It’s true beause I SAY SO!”. That’s one indicator just how far society has moved in the feminized direction; men want to put on a dress and pretend to be a girly because of the privilege it gives them.

Should be interesting to see if women take this sitting down.

Police caught Shoemaker inside of a stall in the women’s bathroom in possession of a phone as described by the victim.

Investigators determined that Shoemaker was watching porn before using his camera to look over at the stall next to him.

White woman Sarah Molloy thought a food truck that makes tacos and indian fry bread (made by a white woman) was offensive to native americans and went on facebook to complain.

The sad thing is that Curt Schilling isn't in the Baseball Hall of Fame yet, but he remains on the ballot (and could remain up through 2022). Though somewhat of a marginal HOF-er, he, like Bert Blyleven, would benefit from time and a more historical lens to be considered for induction.

No longer, I'm afraid.

Here is a list of the most recent group of BBWAA voters.

In the voting earlier this year, Curt was on 52.3% of ballots. One must be on at least 75% of ballots to be inducted, and one must be on at least 5% to remain on the ballot the following year.

After all this, (and don't forget his prior incident for "anti-Muslim" comments) I don't see him gaining enough ballots year after year to reach 75% by 2022.

ESPN is a private company. Schilling signed a contract that forbids workplace harassment - of which twitter and facebook comments can be considered under certain circumstances. Therefore, they can fire him. They did. Many said it was a long time coming. If he was Joe-nobody working in accounting he might get away with it. But as a visible television personality for ESPN his opinion and comments were inappropriate.

@Matt Would you like to volunteer your info for the SJW List?

“ESPN is an inclusive company,” the network said in a statement.

If ESPN is so inclusive like the spokesdroid claims, why don't they want to include Curtis Schilling?

Must.....

not....

These are either 349 or 399. There are others that are cheaper. I have one of these though and it is way cool

"I checked out the game Curt's company (now bankrupt) produced. Not exactly my style, but I think my sons could enjoy it."

Curtis also founded and owns Multi-man Publishing. MMP has the full right to, and publishes ASL, as well as the entire inventory from a company called The Gamers, who produced what is, in my opinion, the best series of grand-tactical Civil War games on the market (Civil War Brigade). What makes them the CWB series the best is the command-and-control rules. They also made a line of games of more modern battles which has similarly full command-and-control rules, the Tactical Combat Series (TCS). And the OCS (Operational Combat Series) is also pretty good, forcing the player to manage logistics in a realistic manner -- none of this "<=10 hexes free of enemy ZOC to a friendly city or rail hex means you are free to do anything you want"... supplies have to be MOVED to the front...and offensive action chews them up rapidly.

It would seem it is time for another competitor; but where are they?

Blogger Jon M April 21, 2016 6:16 PM

Matt, you have completely missed the point of the story, the OP, and pretty much every comment in the thread. Congratulations, you've hit the cycle when it comes to expressing irrelevancies.

(For those unaware, 'hitting the cycle' is a baseball reference to when a batter hits a single, double, triple, and home run in the same game.)

"@Matt Would you like to volunteer your info for the SJW List?"

actually applying vox's own statements matt is correct. Vox has stated employers have the right to fire anyone at anytime for any reason.

It's always fun to see retards play lawyer on the Internet. A tweet of your own opinion that is not directed at any given individual, let alone a co-worker, is not, by any definition, workplace harassment.

Correct... but while we view ESPN as a converged organization, and in fact it maybe even lead the way on such things, as I understand it this does not qualify for the SJWlist does it?

now anyone that lobbied ESPN to fire him... I should think that would qualify them for it.

am I mistook?

About the NHL "faggot" incident- does that mean that the use of any slur or invective is an offense that warrants suspension or worse? If so the fields of the NFL and the courts of the NBA are going to be awfully lonely places. The N- word and MFer are ubiquitous.

Blogger Efrem April 21, 2016 11:26 PM

Looks as if the NBA is going down the SJW road by threatening to take the All-Star Game out of Charlotte. Sports leagues are becoming dens for progressives and their pansy friends.

Blogger Were-Puppy April 21, 2016 11:27 PM

@63 Otto Lamp

Cut the cord; cancel your cable TV.

Almost $5.00 per month of your cable bill goes directly to ESPN.

Tell the cable company exactly why you are cancelling cable TV.

There are tons of alternatives to cable TV today.

Put up an over the air antenna.

Get a Roku and stream on demand services like Netflix.

Once you dump cable and get used to streaming you'll wonder why you even had cable to begin with.
---

I make do with Amazon and Hulu. I had Netflix but let it go. Might pick it up again for those exclusives like Daredevil, if these damn comic based shows weren't shooting down the tracks into SJW land so fast..

Blogger Were-Puppy April 21, 2016 11:45 PM

A SJW looking for an infraction.
Generates a point and shriek.
etc.
etc.

Blogger Were-Puppy April 21, 2016 11:50 PM

Just an FYI - taken from the SJW list page :

There are three criteria for inclusion on The Complete List of SJW:
Self-identifying as a Social Justice Warrior

Publicly advocating the disemployment or no-platforming of an individual for failing to submit to the SJW Narrative

Being a journalist and publishing articles that support the SJW Narrative or an SJW attack campaign.

@46 -

ESPN hired Limbaugh so they could fire him. I think Limbaugh realizes that now, but he should have known what was up back then, and not fallen for the trap.

Blogger rumpole5 April 22, 2016 8:07 AM

I realized that there was a problem a few years ago when I went to donate blood. There was no men's room. Instead they had one exclusively for women, and one for both sexes. No exclusive male space allowed. That was the last time that I added to the gallons of blood that I had donated up to that point in time.

Anonymous Rhetoric Man April 22, 2016 9:17 AM

"Shame the bastions of toxic masculinity - pro sports and the military - proved to be so weak and susceptible."

Yet, millions of men watch pro sports and millions of men are part of or were part of the military. Still "manly" in their eyes.

"ESPN is unwatchable. Males are only allowed to view athletics when the action is surrounded by feminist/PC commercials and PSAs."

Then don't watch it.

"A tweet of your own opinion that is not directed at any given individual, let alone a co-worker, is not, by any definition, workplace harassment."

He should sue if this be the case. But he fully understood the consequences for his actions. ESPN, through freedom of association, chose to remove someone deemed expendable according to specific language in the contract.

In the end, there is an agenda. That agenda, fortunately or unfortunately, is permeating American society.

Western civilization? Americans for the most part remain unconcerned about it, or do not care about it, or do not label it as such. That's their liberty. I'm sure, however, when the bloody civil war arrives in 2033 that they will be deathly concerned about it. Until that day comes...
