Takeover attempt at Eagle Forum

Phyllis Schlafly alerts the media:
"At 2:00 pm today, 6 directors of Eagle Forum met in an improper, unprecedented telephone meeting. I objected to the meeting and at 2:11pm, I was muted from the call. The meeting was invalid under the Bylaws but the attendees purported to pass several motions to wrest control of the organization from me. They are attempting to seize access to our bank accounts, to terminate employees, and to install members of their own Gang of 6 to control the bank accounts and all of Eagle Forum.

"The members of their group are: Eunie Smith of Alabama, Anne Cori of Missouri, Cathie Adams of Texas, Rosina Kovar of Colorado, Shirley Curry of Tennessee, and Carolyn McLarty of Oklahoma.

"This kind of conduct will not stand and I will fight for Eagle Forum and I ask all men and women of good will to join me in this fight."
Always be wary of those who are eager to help. And don't give them power simply because they are useful. Entryism takes places in various forms and in every organization, from the children's church to the Catholic hierarchy. SJWs are the worst entryists, but they are not the only ones.

It is interesting to observe that the Eagle Forum entryists are all female.

Trump's impact on American society continues to be felt. We've seen the first wave of so-called conservatives revealed as party hacks in talk radio and in the blogosphere. Organizations on the right that aren't already pro-establishment are going to face marginalization and attacks, if not more hostile takeover attempts like these.

So, the Cruz Cultists are stacking up pages out of the SJW playbook,.

So far i've seen entryism, blatant power abuse, gaslighting, and blacklisting on the tactics side and complete lack of rationality, immunity to evidence, and lacking self-awareness on the psychological side. (seriously, interact with cruzers on twitter if you have enough migraine pills stocked up)

If the organization has bylaws that are legally binding, then she hopefully has a large legal fund available to sue them. Hit them in the pocketbook and deter others.

Yup. My votes for Trump are the middle finger the RINO earned stabbing Ron Paul in the back, rather than letting the cards fall where they may have.

I don't think the country was ready for Ron Paul. I do not think he could have even won the nomination. But the RINOs would let the game play out. They mocked him and they mocked me.

Trump is the only vote they'll get from me. I might actually go vote for Hillary or Bernie and record the whole thing just as a final F.U. to the Gay Old Party.

Blogger Lobo Util April 12, 2016 6:41 AM

Can we be honest about Ron Paul? He did well in several states by using arcane process rules to sneak into the delegate lead without the votes required to get there in straightforward vote.

Ron Pauls fans, like me, don't want a fair fight. They want to win in any underhanded they they can. It is about the power, not the "fairness" of the process.

Trump, Clinton, Sanders, Kasich, Cruz, and Ron Paul are like the thief who complains that someone broke into his house and took his gold. The gold he first rightfully stole from other people.

Cruz victory in CO is like Bohenor being replaced by Ryan instead of someone fair, much less conservative.

Trump is forcing people to take sides. I said earlier there were right wing rabbit warrens (cucks), but even libertarian ones. Vhristian and atheist ones. And there are the free thinkers.

They are all inner rings and Trump is Frodo on his way to Mt. Doom. Cruz has become Saruman.

Blogger rumpole5 April 12, 2016 8:36 AM

I listen to Limbaugh consistently. I think that his focus is where all if our focus should be, viz: defeating leftists. Limbaugh has taken a lot of heat because he has failed to condemn Trump, and that is because he realizes that we would be far better off with Trump than with a RINO or Democrat. What Trumpster fanatics don't seem to realize is that they would also be far better off with Cruz than with a Cuckservative or Democrat. Trump has done us a great favor by articulating America First concepts. Trump has moved the debate to include those ideas, and they will remain in play if Trumpster butthurt crybabies do not take their little balls and go home.

A bit of overheated rhetoric that makes its rounds amongst the mental and emotional defectives on the left is "Christian Fascists."

Cruz's ardent supporters might just might fit this description, but the joke is on us because these so called "Fascists" will only play Mrs. Jellaby to the morons of the Left and the only scolding they will do is politically and socially Rightward.

The Eagle Forum is Phyllis Schlafly. The rest of them are not worth the dust in the balance, and they will continue flogging her books and name for as long as they can - whether she's dead or pushed out.

It's interesting that the conservative group that has existed the longest to oppose the federal Department of Education is under this attack at the same time the Washington Cartel and the Cruzbots are mocking Trump for being so stupid as to uphold that old plank of the GOP platform of making education local again. I suppose it's obvious on what side the bread is buttered when there are conservative education policy consultants in Washington DC.

@5 Lovekraft asked if she had the legal financial resources to fight this; I have no doubt she'll get all she needs if she asks, and she's a lawyer. Unless she's seriously fading, not one you want to tangle with, and her current opponents will accrue no glory in their efforts.

Twenty, thirty, forty years ago, the Eagle Forum was set up to say - if we don't teach the children, we will lose the country.

Roger Hedgecock and Rush Limbaugh famously mocked the Eagle Forum. Did you ever hear his remarks about the "Keepers Of Odd Knowledge Society"? Yes, one of those times Rush was drying out, Hedgecock explained that the Eagle Forum members are the real kooks. Look at textbooks? Make sure they represent our values? Root out communism, atheism, and anti-Americanism in the schools? What kookery! The kids are all right!

Everyone on this page owes a huge debt to Phyllis Schlafly. Stopping the ERA Amendment in the 1970's was bigger than you could imagine. Look it up if you haven't already. The ERA was the feminist version of Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined. She is a strident and successful enemy of feminism. Furthermore, Cathie Adams' involvement here doesn't surprise me at all. She is the former head of the Texas Republican party, and presided over the worst of the backstabbing and blatant rule breaking in 2008 against Ron Paul. If someone opposes and works against Phyllis Schlafly, Ron Paul and Donald Trump, traitor is too kind a word.

It has been fun to watch Limbaugh's high wire act this election cycle. He ever so carefully dances around, doing his best not to forever alienate Trump or Cruz supporters. He knows that he's going to need an audience long after the election is over.

Whether he will be successful or not is up for debate, but his strategy is a whole lot more rational than Levin or Beck, who seem determined to wreck their Arbitron numbers for all eternity.

Blogger Sheila4g April 12, 2016 10:08 AM

I was still a loony liberal in college when Phyllis Schlafly was fighting against the Equal Rights Amendment. I remember joining in mocking her assertion it would end up authorizing unisex bathrooms. Not only was she obviously proven right about the unisex bathrooms (although achieved via a different route) but she was right about everything else.

I ALWAYS demanded copies of the textbooks my kids were using - in both public and private schools. The "Christian" reading book the new 6th-grade teachers wanted to use in my younger son's Christian school was filled with girls beating older brothers at games, being smarter and more clever at any task. There was a WWII story about the pious Christian Japanese American (in actual fact, how many of them were truly Christian?) being discriminated against by the racist, blond-haired, blue-eyed White boy. On and on, and the principal really had no defense. Add in the history and public-school math text, and we decided to stop wasting thousands of dollars and teach him at home.

Even if I weren't totally creeped out by Cruz's oleaginous manner and Christian Dominionism, I would be utterly alienated by the SJW tactics his supporters employ. I'm hardly a "Trump-bot" who believes he's the second coming - but then almost no one here is. He's just the best bet at this time, and a wonderful FU to the GOPe, cucks, and churchians. I will never support Ted Cruz. And I, too am familiar with Cathy Adams here in Texas. Vile woman.

TPP is immigration. TPP gives corporations full authority to bring in as many workers as they need from wherever they want and pay them what they can get away with. And the government can't stop them. They've already outsourced production and this will allow the globalists to insource the labor for the service jobs that can't be outsourced.

@33. Sheila4g

I remember joining in mocking her assertion it would end up authorizing unisex bathrooms....

In 1995 I saw a PBS program celebrating the 75th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, wherein opponents at the time were mocked for the claim that female suffrage would result in alcohol prohibition. Strictly speaking, I suppose this claim could be denied, since the 18th Amendment was passed just before the 19th, but it was actually one of the first great victories of feminism. (The 19th Amendment was just the capstone on a process that had been working for some time; most states by then had already given the vote to women.) I was somewhat astonished that the producers of the program did not see this obvious gaffe. Indoctrination is a wonderful thing.

Prohibition's great gifts to America included, among others: (1) organized crime (the Mob), which had barely existed previously; (2) the FBI, which was set up to "fight" organized crime; (3) the concomitant great expansion of Federal power into local affairs which followed, and set the stage for Roosevelt's socialist/fascist programs of the 1930s; (4) the wealth and power of the Bronfman and other (((families))) who made their fortunes bootlegging whiskey over the Great Lakes.

Feminism has done so much for America!

After all the energy they spent against Trump, that they somehow couldn't muster when it came to Obama, I'm done. If the GOP wants my vote for anything they pick Trump. I haven't paid close attention to Cruz but I have heard criticizms from multiple republicans that there is a -pattern-of-behavior- of him going against fellow republicans

@71
If you swapped Cruz with Zoe Quinn you wouldn't be able to tell the difference in their behavior.

They have friends coopt power in high places, engage in dirty tactics, then, when called on it by those they disenfranchise, they gaslight.

***Limbaugh outed himself as a party hack way back in 2006. His "liberation" didn't last too long.

"I feel liberated, and I’m going to tell you as plainly as I can why. I no longer am going to have to carry the water for people who I don’t think deserve having their water carried." Rush Limbaugh Nov 8, 2006***

Rush was obviously a party hack as far back as 1988 and 1992 when he was shilling for the senior Bush after visits to the Lincoln Bedroom. Clinton wasn't the only one to use that particular room for political purposes.

I have been following Rush off and on since he was a local radio station talk show host in Sacramento in the 1980s.

Even then I could tell he was being groomed for a purpose by interested parties.

Rush would say something a bit too conservative for those unnamed interested parties and Rush would be taken to the woodshed (off air) and come back on air the next day and reverse himself.

This pattern continued when he went to NYC and became a nationally syndicated radio talk show host.

Rush is a paid shill on a short leash; always has been.

He's got some issues in his closet which are used to control him, I surmise.

***I was still a loony liberal in college when Phyllis Schlafly was fighting against the Equal Rights Amendment. I remember joining in mocking her assertion it would end up authorizing unisex bathrooms. Not only was she obviously proven right about the unisex bathrooms (although achieved via a different route) but she was right about everything else.***

Odd how few people notice or comment on this irony today (re: bathroom politics).

Of course back in the 1970s no one had even imagined the whole World War T thing yet.

The future turned out to be even stranger and more insane than we were capable of imagining.

I dislike Tundra Ted also, but what evidence is there his campaign or supporters were involved in this?

This sounds like something been brewing a long time.

Because she said the reason was her endorsement of Trump. All the board members who voted to oust her are Cruz supporters. I agree with Nate that it's probably also girl crap that could have been brewing for a long time, given her sons on the board are supporting her while her daughter is part of the takeover attempt. They aren't SJWs, they are women who are Cruz fangirlz is my take.

So not his campaign at all, but die hard Cruz people on the board none the less. Are they using it as an excuse or a reason is anyone's guess.

@54

This is a reflection of your own poor knowledge of scripture and dispensational eschatology. You may think it's a serious criticism, but all it does is show your ignorance. Simple disagreement does not make someone a wack job."

You're right; I missed the part in the Bible where it said Ted Cruz was destined to save America. Is that the book of Cruz Sr. or the Book of Glenn Beck?
