Book Bomb: Nethereal

Larry Correia has announced his latest Book Bomb in support of 2016 Campbell Nominee Brian Niemeir. Brian is a friend of the blog, and of Castalia House, and so I'm quite happy to support Larry in his efforts.

Nethereal is the first book in the Soul Cycle series. It's $3.99 and is currently at #43,662 in Kindle. Larry describes it as "Space Pirates Go To Hell."

Bought it a while back, started reading it past weekend. I’m about 1/3 through, can recommend.

Wasn’t it pushed here earlier?

Event Horizon?

That movie freaked my mom out pretty good.

Too late for me. Have already bought and read it. As for a recommendation, it depends on your taste. The book is well written, the plot is intriguing and the main characters are compelling and believable. There were some minor characters that I couldn't wrap my head around their motivations, but I won't elaborate so as not to spoil.

The book blends technology and magic (sorry, "Working") which I am less fond of than straight science fiction. Unlike Star Wars, the magic is necessary for the technology, so the author ends up writing pseudo-technical explanations to make it stick (the equivalent of the hated midichlorians from Star Wars).

Still, despite this, it's a very enjoyable book. Definitely worth the money.

Bought. Look forward to reading on my new paper-white (and somehow the old kindle started working again so now I can get my husband some Castalia House military stuff).

Use Kindle for PC and Calibre to convert it. Directions are easily found with a Google search on drm and Kindle. The second result was appropriate when I ran the search.

Oh, SNAPped it up!

Blogger Brian Niemeier May 18, 2016 5:34 PM

@FrankNorman

There's no DRM, so James' advice will work. Or just email me via the contact button on my blog, and I'll send you the epub.

Blogger James Dixon May 18, 2016 7:05 PM

> There's no DRM...

I hope I speak for the vast majority of readers when I say: Thank you, Brian.

You had me at $3.99. That's pretty damn good for 600 pages of demonic space piracy.
