So Trump is the nominee. The rest is just window dressing. Now we see Trump turn his guns on Hillary and consolidate support in the GOP, if there is any to be had that isn't already on board.

But the #NeverTrump ers will still say vote for - which one now? - so they can deny Trump the 1237 and broker Ryan as the nominee.

Kasich was conspicuous by his absence in ANY of the coverage last night and this morning until the "I'm out of here" pre-announcement

If the GOPe had been serious about stopping Trump, Kasich would have had the plug pulled on him two months ago.

Pat Caddell had it right when he spoke at CPAC in 2013. The GOP establishment and political consultant class is just plain incompetent, too concerned with their own perks and paychecks to bother with winning.

Kasick is out? But he had Rubio dead in his sights!

This Idaho senator is as noble as the tall corn for which his province is famous. His honor in playing the game without playing games, asking for votes without actually receiving any, falling off a stage with Fiorinesque dignity without having an actual stage or actual dignity is remarkable. He's like the Red Baron vs. Snoopy, on Christmas morning.

Someone on 8chan /pol/ suggested that it is mathematically for Trump to get to the convention with 1488 delegates.

I think part of the problem, (since I've seen the ads he was running in OR), is that Kasich was running against Cruz. Once Cruz dropped out, he would have needed a new set of ads. And frankly, he wouldn't win in OR anyway.

The Cucks are just rage-quitting and throwing their chairs around in the office today. Give them a month and the majority will be back on board after Trump's win in California.

Since most are Gammas remember the pattern which is rage-quitting and then showing back up like nothing happened. A few will hold a grudge and never support him, but only a vocal few.

I think we all know the answer to that one don't we?
Buuuuttttt...
But the main reason Trump could win is because he’s the only candidate hard enough to call Hillary’s bluff. Republicans will say almost anything about Hillary, but almost none challenge her basic competence. She may be evil, but she’s tough and accomplished. This we know, all of us.

But do we? Or is this understanding of Hillary just another piety we repeat out of unthinking habit, the political equivalent of, “you can be whatever you want to be,” or “breakfast is the most important meal of the day”? Trump doesn’t think Hillary is impressive and strong. He sees her as brittle and afraid.

For some it will be tomorrow for some next month, but we'll see the Cucks writing articles about how they came around, or that Trump really isn't who they thought he was, or Hillary is far worse. Just wait.

From what I understand, big L Libertarians are in favor of open borders and etc, so they'll probably be more than happy to welcome them. They don't see the point in strong borders nationally, so I can't help but see the Libertarian party getting coopted due to weak borders internally if it goes down that route.

yes, this is a data point that should be filed under the "Donald Trump is super deep kayfabe" hypothesis.

but, as i noted before, if 'they' have this much control ( which would virtually necessitate utterly falsified voting results ), then there are NO options in this ( or pretty much any other ) election cycle. it also means that ALL of the upper level Republican #NeverTrump people are in on the game and are working FOR his election.

Pick some PC Mexican or Asian, black, or Jew as his running mate and try to get him back on the reservation.

They will be whispering in his ear how he needs to go along to get along and how all of the Washington Establishment is really pro-Trump and has been all along... secretly. How he needs them as much as they need him. Just be nice from now on, OK Donald?

Then again, maybe it's a set up to get Trump into Mexico where he will get the Scalia treatment?

Blogger Jourdan May 04, 2016 7:46 PM

Guys, I live in Mexico, that is not what Fox is doing. Fox is saying, in effect, "yes, I got pissed and said some bad words, but I think if Trump came down here and saw the reality on the ground, learned what Mexico is doing, how we work with the U.S. every day, he would see that it's not black and white."

Now, I don't fully agree with that. As a member of the Mexican elite he is complicit in underserving his people knowing full well they will self-deport to El Norte for the health care, social welfare and work they were denied in Mexico.

But, part of it is true. 1.2 billion in goods, both ways, crosses that border every day, including electricity for San Diego county.

I want a wall and I want illegals repatriated, and we have some legitimate beefs with Mexico and its rulers, but we also can be good and mutually prosperous neighbors if we play our cards right.

Anonymous Philalethes May 04, 2016 7:55 PM

Got nothing against Mexico, the U.S. has treated them like sh*t for over 150 years, it'd be great to be good neighbors with them. One of the first ways to make that happen would be to decriminalize the drugs in the U.S., which would take the money and power away from the cartels in Mexico, so they might have a ghost of a chance of straightening out their country.

Edward Abbey, long-time resident of southern Arizona, proposed a solution to the immigrant problem some 40 years ago: Give every man a rifle and fifty rounds, and send him home. He really got hell from the liberals for that.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Note that Kasich is basically opposed to everything that Trump has expressed as his main issues in this campaign. He's for open borders, more immigration, strongly supports TPP and NAFTA and even said in one of the debates he wanted to start a war with Russia. Plus he's a mangina. He's sort of the antithesis of Trump's public image.

I don't trust this process. The GOP has not admitted Trump is the candidate. They've been making statements that the Party makes the rules, and the rules aren't made yet. This idea that Trump has won may not be true. The Democrats have that looney superdelegate rule that ignores the voters completely. The GOP could replace the delegates pledged to trump with other delegates or use the superdelegate stuff the Democrats are using to ignore the votes. This is why the Founding Fathers opposed political parties as a rule, because the party can overrule the voters and destroy the process. The Electoral College already prevents total democracy and the political parties are just a contraption used by Big Money to squeeze their guy through.
This whole election process is fraudulent anyway. I do not trust those electronic tallies. When you see guys like Lindsey Graham elected and re-elected in the South and clowns like McCain re-elected in Arizona, there is massive fraud involved here. Voting has no place anymore, at least not this way. Heinlein's idea of only allowing Veterans to vote is the kind of limitation the Founders put in by having only landowners with a direct stake involved in the process. Extending the franchise to women was a fatal error. The very idea that blacks who cannot read are casting informed votes has made the process a bad joke.

I've noted the same, it puts a grin on face thinking about how Cruz would be enough of a dick to actually show up for the job. (And he's devious enough to find ways to use the power of the gavel to influence the flow of legislation.)

The VP is also an adviser with different knowledge, a delegatee with different skills, the highest possible proxy for diplomatic events that the President just can't make himself, and -- of course -- the President-in-waiting if anything happens to Trump. I don't even believe in heavy drug regulation but the stuff that adds no value like heroin

god DAMN, but you are stupid.

heroin is an opioid. there are dozens of prescription opioids, many of which are abused as heroin substitutes. and, aside from dosing level, there isn't any significant difference between the heroin and the prescription drugs. for instance, it appears that Prince died from them.

They were using Cruz to stop Trump. They never intended to give him the nomination. Cruz is ambitious but not very good. Outside of his Jimmy Swaggert Evangelical act, he's strictly declasse. You know, Canadians really don't go over well here in the lower 48.

> So, two days ago, Cruz was the GOPe incarnate. Today, "The GOP hates this guy." ... Which one is true?

The fact that you can't understand that the GOPe was using Cruz as a tool even though they hate him is your problem, not ours.
