Nobody cares anymore

Much to its horror, the GOP establishment has realized that the American people no longer give a quantum of a damn about the conventional political narratives:
In a shocking moment of clarity, that should also send shivers up the spine of the Democratic party, Republican chairman (and implicity voice of 'the establishment') Reince Priebus admitted on various Sunday talk-shows that campaign traditions don't apply to the so-called Teflon Don noting that "the public just wasn't interested" in his taxes or the various 'stories' that the Deep State is throwing at him. "I don't think the traditional playbook applies.. We've been down this road for a year. And it doesn't apply," Priebus exclaimed, and why the Clinton campaign is likely scrambling, "He's rewritten the playbook."

Summing up the reality of the current situation - with attacks coming at presumotive GOP nominee Trump from all sides - NBC News reports that Priebus said...

"I've got to tell you, I think that all these stories that come out - and they come out every couple weeks - people just don't care."
TL;DR: Trump, because fuck you!

We really don't care about his myriad flaws. If Trump stripped naked in front of television cameras at the Washington monument, did a little pole dance, confessed to a daily cocaine-and-call-girl habit, then promised to put every Congressman and Senator on trial, he'd gain five points in the polls. Maybe ten.

We have watched the twin establishments of the bifactional ruling party methodically dismantle everything that the United States of America used to be for the last 24 years or more. They gave us Clinton, then Bush the Younger, and then the parody that is Soetoro/Obama. They could be selling the cure for cancer with one free Victoria's Secret model in every box and the American public still wouldn't buy it.

If all Donald Trump does is build a big beautiful wall and start sending Mexicans and Muslims back home, we don't care if he gilds the White House, puts his logo on it, and turns it into a combination strip joint and head shop.

From commenter Cinco Jotas at MPC...

"To expand upon my previous thought, Trump has entered the populist golden zone, where every media attack, especially the petty ones, strengthen his electoral position. [...]

What's going to be hilarious, and I mean really hilarious, is watching this dynamic play out. Every one of the usual Ivy League, Columbia J-school f****ts are used to having picayune bullshit derail Republican campaigns. Mitt Romney could not have been a more upright and honest man, yet he was forced to scramble around responding to ridiculous charges about his tax returns.

Nothing like that will stick to Trump. There will be plenty of really grotesque things come out about Trump -- bribery of officials, adultery, Marla Maples, payoffs to thuggish NY union goons-- but none of it will stick, and it will drive the media elites insane, just insane, because every time they drop a bomb, Trump will get stronger.

That's what a populist campaign does, it flips everything upside down.
[...]

[...]There's no happy ending here for the media. This is evolution in action. Our oppressive shitlib media has produced the ultimate media killer. Trump isn't a centipede. He's one of those giant Japanese hornets that kills an entire hive full of bees. He's immune to their stings, and until they evolve a new strategy, which will take a generation or more, it'll just be carnage. I predict that entire newsrooms will be cleaned out by Trump. I'm serious. Look for shitlib reporters who become disillusioned with the occupation. The loss of cultural power and the incessant mockery on twitter and in the comments section will be too much for many of them. They'll retire and quit in droves, and J-schools will disappear as students decide on other careers.

In conclusion, to summarize what the New York Times and Washington Post learned this week: Trump isn't locked in here with the media, the media is locked in here with Trump.

They just don't understand that people have realized this is an EXISTENTIAL election. I've got plenty of moral objections to Donald's personal behavior, but the President has one job, and it isn't to be our moral leader.

It is to preserve and protect the UNITED STATES! (Constitution, smonstitution, it is the nation we really want to see saved as best as it can be...)

Blogger Steve Sky May 15, 2016 7:50 PM

The GOPe seems to think that if they come up with the perfect "he's not conservative" strawnman, we'll react in a Pavlovian manner, recoil, and support the GOPe's picked candidate.
But over the years, I've become less and less interested in playing a voter Charlie Brown, to the GOPe's Lucy, where, this time, we'll nominate a candidate you can vote for, vs having to hold your nose to vote against the Democrat candidate. And I've noticed how "holding your nose" only goes one way. The GOPe & it's sycophants don't seem able to hold their nose, indeed, they usually vote for the opposition. See: GOPe incumbents primaried out by Tea Party candidates.
I can't predict what Trump will do, but I had a fair guess what ¡Jeb!, Rubio, & Cruz would do, and wouldn't vote for them.
So I'm voting for Trump, because this time, I have an alternative to the GOPe's selected candidate.

It amazes me still at the arrogance of the regressive left at the damage they have done, and continue to do, in society. By focusing on Trump's alleged failings, all they do is demonstrate (to the learned) how utterly contemptible they are.

Other groups fall into this camp - media shills, lawyer parasites, Israel-firsters, BLM, but they can fall under the umbrella of anti-western.

I've often mused that many GOPers seem to be perfectly willing to LITERALLY summon a demon - draw the pentagram, say the spell - to do certain things like be safe from the terrorists. It explains Bush.

Trump is the result of the Faustian bargain of the GOP elites, the last step in removing Ron Paul as exorcist. Payback in this case is hell, literally.

...bringing back a 1 Try Oz. dollar with Trump on it, and a walking Milania Liberty Gold....

Not likely. Instead, they're going to remove Andrew Jackson from the $20 bill, replacing him with Harriet Tubman. Given that Trump is often characterized as a "reincarnation" of Jackson, the timing is interesting. As well as that the $20 is perhaps the most common bill in use – what do you make sure you have at least in your wallet when you go out?

Unlike the Sacagawea dollar, there's no practical alternative, so everyone will be forced to use it. I figured I'd have to put in a supply of $10 bills, but the picture on that one does not inspire fondness, despite current efforts to beatify Hamilton – also, it seems, rather timely for the Patron Saint of American Total Government.

I do have a packet of $2 bills, with Jefferson on them, but what can you buy with $2 these days? And Franklin's okay, but of course then you'll get Grant, Tubman and Hamilton in change. It's like being forced to paint a political ad on your car for a candidate you despise.

if the demographically gutted American public can still muster this level of enthusiasm for a constantly demonized candidate who merely suggests he will pursue right leaning policies, how dominant could the GOP have been if it had actually been a party explicitly committed to a right wing agenda (isolationism + closed borders) for the last 20+ years?

@2 I see that Sheldon Adelson has gotten on board the Trump Train. That's a major tell that GOPe is moving beyond the grief and anger stage, and towards acceptance.

Maybe. But who's going to be doing the accepting? I'm sure Adelson thinks he's buying the train, not just getting on it.

Trump's facing a whole other challenge now: will they play him, or can he play them? So far, as Scott Adams has been reporting play-by-play, Trump seems to have overcome every obstacle, often surprising everybody. I hope he can do it again.

And again. And again. 'Cause that's what he's gonna hafta do.

On another hand, both David Icke and Brother Nathanael will tell you Trump's just another shill for the Establishment; after all, he may be "self-funded", but those funds are all in banks, and guess who could stop him in his tracks if they wanted?

In those observers' view, Trump was put into the mix because the American people were getting so bored with the whole political circus that it was losing what little illusion of legitimacy it has. Trump's job then – which he has accomplished in spades – was to get the American people interested in the Process again, even excited.

If so, of course, the Establishment is playing a dangerous game, for if Trump turns out a disappointment, things may get really nasty. But then, that may be what they have in mind – so they could trot out a real Strongman to take charge and make everybody feel safe.

No way of knowing now; we can only watch and wait.

Sarah Palin... The rest are all former 2016 GOP presidential candidates: Trump’s closest competitor Sen. Ted Cruz, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Sen. Marco Rubio, and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

Right. Any of these would put Trump right in the sights for the Reagan treatment. I find it difficult to believe he doesn't know that. Trump is NOT going to let her play that game. He's not going to give her a pass just because, ya know, vagina or tits (such as they are...or aren't).

I will be shocked, shocked, I say, if he doesn't, sometime in the course of the campaign, say something to the effect of: "C'mon, cut Bill a break. Who wouldn't have taken the blowjobs from the plump but cooperative Jewish girl if the alternative were _her_?"

Donald Trump is playing Dangerfield's part in Caddyshack.

Blogger Jourdan May 15, 2016 11:28 PM

As usual, "Reince" is wrong. Trump is writing a "new playbook." He's simply a relatively normal American who is speaking plain, simple English.

Take today's latest "outrage" that won't hurt Trump.

The Hill asked Trump if he was going to continue the insult war with Sen. Warren. He said "What, Pocahontas?"

That this won't hurt his is not due to some amazing new rulebook. Normal Americans think that Warren is ridiculous on her face and no one is under any obligation to treat someone who faked being an Indian to get a job seriously. In real America, that's laughable.

The Beltway is so insulated, they simply don't realize that someone laughing at them because they are laughable isn't some amazing new turn in our politics.

It's not just the Republicans having a crack-up. The Democratic Elite are starting to get nervous as the Bernie Sanders supporters start realizing they are getting screwed over. Look at what happened in Nevada. I don't think they will "fall in line and vote for Hillary" in the spirit of party unity.

The Trump Effect is spreading into both sides of the Aisle.

The Harriet Tubman issue seems ripe for agree and amplify.

Her primary claim to fame is shipping Africans out of the US and into Canada, and that seems to be a great goal for the bus fleets once the illegals are repatriated to Mexico.

Start cutting benefits, and advertise the wonderful benefits available in Canada and they will willingly get on the bus to migrate to the northern land of promised gimmee dats. They will be free from the horribly racists Americans. They will no longer be subjected to unending microagressions. In the promised land of Canada they will be completely free from confederate flags and the heritage of slavery.

Complete Harriet Tubman's legacy, and ship all the descendents of the slaves she couldn't save to where they belong, Canada.

"the public just wasn't interested" in his taxes
No, not really. What is known of his finances and assets is pretty much public already.
I have no interest in seeing (or deciphering) his tax forms. At his level I'm sure he has multiple accountants and at least one tax attorney as staff. Their job is to pick through the tax code(s) and keep what he has to pay as low as possible - if nothing else, to justify their own salaries.
Much of his assets are in Real Estate, which is public, researchable, and documented.
If Rinse Pubis and friends were really that interested, they could probably hire a forensic accountant and Real Estate attorneys to reconstruct a reasonable facsimile of his taxes for any given year likely dating back to the 70's.
If anything, Trump's finances/assets are more transparent than any other candidate for President now or dating as far back as Jimmy Carter.
Shouldn't Rinse Pubis be picking through the Lizard Queen's finances? There's quite likely as many financial ''skeletons in the closet'' there as there are literal ''skeletons in the closet''.
I'm more interested in this story, it's the first I've heard of Billy going after the jailbait.
Of course, considering (((some of the names))) involved...

So. Anyhow, it's not about the real John Mosby's unit being known as Mosby's Rangers, or Mosby's Raiders, is it.

It's about a child crying "he touched me" because someone dared to use a handle that contained the word "Mosby", who cried that everyone might confuse Ranger Mosby, with jOHN MOSBY. Is that possible?

And of course he is trolling for attention. I just think it is funny. It certainly doesn't make any sense. Which is why it is so damn funny.

Trump is a walking talking meme all unto himself. The left can't even begin to comprehend it, let alone combat it. Those who support Trump are completely inured to leftists ploys including the shitlib lying media whores. Trump supporters see him attacking the left and not giving an inch, while finally proposing a reality-based set of American policies that have absolutely nothing to do with amorphous pie-in-the-sky idealistic globalized insanity that has done nothing but bring disaster to people who comprise the backbone of this nation.

And speaking of memes....

White Privilege means it's our privilege as to how we dispense with what we have. Generations of Anglo-Americans created it, built it, and it is their current generation's right to keep it or give it away as they see fit. Whatever contributions other races may have made were miniscule in comparison. As a final note, we're no longer letting others appropriate it because our forefather's didn't bequeath it to us to squander, but instead to pass it along to our next generation.

Deflect this evil meme, twist its meaning around so that it's now an issue of pride....

#whiteprivilege... our privilige to keep our culture, our heritage, and our nation.

Remember that SJWs always lie book?

The problem is that the congressmen who want to do something about it won't, because they fear the Alinsky tactics the media will pull on them.

Oh noes, you're a conservative, that means you want children to starve and gays to be second-class citizens!

What made me mad was the whole government shutdown thing. Most people are totally cool with the idea of the government taking a break from wasting our money. If the guys in congress would learn to say "screw the media", and own the issue instead of running from it, they could win a lot of support. But they hide under the bed every time a TV camera is pointed at them. And because they won't defend themselves properly, they end up with the blame they fear so much.

This doesn't take into account obvious corruption, and there's plenty of that to go around.

Trump is winning because he doesn't run away from this crap. He owns it, even laughs at it. He may not be perfect, but to many people, he's a big step in the right direction. He shows people you can throw off the crap and people will admire you for doing it. Personally I hope it is a sign of change for American politics, and that others follow his example.

Frank Norman,
Sorta yes. In the Future, we will have abundant data. Problem is, much of that data will be false. "Synners" talked about a guy who created a false history of a Jazz Age with rock and roll never existing.

Imagine historians arguing about whether the Second American Revolution was led by John Spartan (Demolition Man) or Rick Grimes or John Connor. Now imagine some of them going even further and more complicated...

The ease of creating is going to allow folks to make artifacts and false histories. Some will do it for politics, some for lies, and some because its amusing.
