Another day, another bomb

We're beginning to learn what life was like during the anarchist bombings of the late 19th and early 20th century:
Turkish newspaper Hurriyet is reporting that two explosions have occurred at Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport. The mayor of Istanbul has confirmed 28 deaths and 50 injuries.

Officials have confirmed that three attackers orchestrated the attack. At least one opened fire with an AK-47 firearm before detonating a suicide bomb he was wearing. Two other attackers committed suicide attacks on other areas of the airport.

Update 6:25PM EST: Authorities are now placing the death toll at closer to 50, according to the Associated Press. The AP also notes that senior Turkish officials are leaning toward the Islamic State as the possible culprits of the attack.
Imagine what it will be like if the EU grants the free movement of peoples to Turkey. Britain was wise to vote out when they did.

If this is not the PKK, then Erdogan has made a pact with ISIS he will now regret. Or...he may take advantage of this and use it as a means to claim more police powers.

ISIS cf USA-blackops budgeting, what's the difference? The day the USA started funding Islam in Afghanistan to liberate it from the Soviet Union they did a deal funding not just the Soviet Union's enemies but God's. American money went directly to Americans' own enemies' pockets.

the irony and I really mean this as true irony is a President has more executive power than any King or Queen has exercised in the last 300 years. No king or queen would stroll their garden joking outloud in microphone range "do anything I want" or call their nations constitution a "goddamned piece of paper" [even if it didn't happen most people believe that's how they now act]

Vote Trump King. Presidents are too much like loose canons taking down their own crew.

Mark Steyn predicted this a while back:

"The second thought that strikes you is that the ever-longer lines to get into the "secure" area are now the least secure area in America. Why not blow up the security line? You could kill as many people as on an airplane, and inflict more long-term economic damage. But don't worry. The TSA has plans to expand the "secure" area, so the insecure perimeter will be somewhere else, with even more vulnerable people standing around waiting to get into it.

Clearly we need a secure zone outside the secure zone - maybe, say, outside the concourse. So everyone has to crowd on the sidewalk. And then when they blow that up we can move it back to the perimeter of the airport. And then..."

Steyn went on to suggest that we ought to push back that security perimeter until it circles the entire country.

Rev. Wright played that out with far better flourish post 9/11... "America'ssss chickenzzzzzzzzssa have come home to roossss-tah!"

But that's bullshit. The U.S. did have its indirect and then-unknown chance circa 1948-1950 to impress upon Qutb the difference between Western Democracy and Communist Soviets. His take was that the depravity he experienced in New York City upon arrival from Egypt and idiocy he experienced in Colorado proved that the anything-goes-for-a-buck money-worshipping Americans were no better than the Godless Communists. He then went back and began laying the groundwork for what would inspire Al Qaeda.

It wasn't CIA black funding of the mujahideen against the Russians that did us in. It was the full glory of riding the 7 Train in 1949 at the dawn of cultural boundary pushing by the spiritual mentor of Ayman Zawahiri who was the literal mentor to Osama bin Laden.

Turkey is just reverting to the mean. Three generations has been a significant factor in the Islamic part of the world over and over again. Any time Islam loots a country, there’s a bloom of some sort for three generations that then quits. Persia, parts of Byzantium, Spain, India - 3 generations of innovation then rot.

Ataturk put a lot of secularist policies into place, including making the Army the ultimate guardian of the nation, as well as tying a choke chain on the mosques. All of that has fallen away in the third generation, as men can’t recall the “why” of those policies.

Tempting to blame Erdogan, but there is a much larger force at work: the cultural dead hand of Islam, which drags civilizations down to the lowest common denominator over and over again.

There is a very good reason why people don't have a crocodile petting zoo. Why you don't train them to clap like seals, or sing like dolphins. Crocodiles don't do loyalty. You don't do selfies next to a 4 metre salt water crocodile. Sharks leave them very well alone.

So if you intend to rumble with groups called the sharks and the crocodiles don't do an alliance - no matter how convenient it might seem, it isn't. By even talking you lose time and ground.

Yes. They hated us long before the day the USA started funding Islam in Afghanistan to liberate it from the Soviet Union; they determined we were not to be trusted but enemies of Islam to be used decades prior.

Because of liberal education programs which allowed study abroad as a cultural solution to global problems. Except instead of learning about how great democracy and capitalism was, arguably the most significant figure in Islamic terrorism was instead propositioned nightly by prostitutes willing to do anything on his way back to flea ridden flat. I guess we do reap what we sow, but that's a very circuitous route of blame of a whole people.

Closing ranks, forming a circle? What about missiles? Vox sounded like he thought some obvious tactics would have helped a lot, but a midwit like me can't reason out the right approach.
---

The tactics will have to be considered upon the group you are with.

If you are solo, then you are both more free, but in more danger.

If there are a quite a few of you, better if you mess around some ahead of time. We used to drill all the time in group defense and attacks. It's surprising how quickly you can wipe out your own team if you're not careful :P

If you are solo, one of the best things you can apply is keeping the multiple attackers in each others way. Always keep the one closest between you and the others. Do NOT let them surround you. It is exhausting, but it works.

In a wild skirmish type atmosphere like we saw in California, you've got to learn to be super aware of your surroundings.

If people are pulling out knives, run. Sticks, run. poles, run. If you can't run, then get inside their arms reach fast as you can so they can't hurt you with those items.

Blogger Were-Puppy June 29, 2016 12:26 AM

That all makes sense, but I'm still not sure what the ideal group tactics are here for a defensive group. They don't have shields or long weapons and sitting still and getting surrounded by rock-throwing antifa seems dumb. A retreat and then having help collapse on the flanks would be one obvious way to wipe out disorganized morons, but the goal here isn't that: it is to not get stabbed/batted and win the public relations/moral level of the conflict.

At that level, it seems like what the guys actually did was actually pretty effective. Liberals I know around here were pretty sickened by the antifa behavior.

Blogger Snidely Whiplash June 29, 2016 12:43 AM

Identify the instigators and co-ordinators. This can sometimes be done ahead of time. These people have no idea of operation security. If you can identify them, get pictures and make sure everyone knows who to target.

They will be in a safe space behind the lines, directing traffic. Take away their safe space. Make them pay a personal price.

While your protesters are very important, you should have some people on the other side to observe chains of command, to identify targets, to exploit opportunities. Have some people roaming the backfield.

Intelligence is your most important asset in a dirty war.

One of those rigid plastic 1'x2' yard signs would make a servicable shield and a 1"x2"×3' stick would work for a bokken.

You'll need to have a loop in the middle of the shield to hold it.

If you are planning on being around stupid people a lot make your own shield that you can attach signs to like cheap black and white poster printouts from staples. Kuba kicks are only worth wile if you are going to be surrounded. If you are not going somewhere where you can CCW take a tactical pen & whatever else is legal. Having self defense insurance coverage like US concealed carry association offers will be important if the cops ignore attacks on you but decide to take action if you hurt a nigglet. If possible toss some light enemy onto another's knife, don't be afraid to take out their bitches that way(far safer than defanging the snake moves). You can also buy slash resistant shirts that don't look like body armor. If you are posting here you can afford a $200 sweat top. You can buy actual body armor from Infidel Armor for not much more. Wear safety glasses in stead of contacts if there will be tear gas and have spare glasses in car.
