The free-fall of the West

Amerika considers the demoralization of the West:
At 120 IQ points, there is a threshold which determines the ability of people to understand complex political issues, and another exists at 125 IQ points. But to see these issues clearly also depends on having a certain spirit that is capable of leadership. This is a warlike spirit, a gut instinct of what is right and the knowledge that without being forced to do otherwise, people drift back into the usual narcissistic oblivion and produce degenerative stupidity where they could have a truly great civilization.

People with this spirit tend to, when put in power, beat back the foolishness and leave everyone else alone. This terrifies your average person, who wants to face no consequences for his own bad behavior. If given the choice, he will select anti-leaders: people who herd together the group and make sure they all get along, at the high but long-term cost of ignoring the need for united action to constantly improve society, or it will be absorbed by stagnation and begin to crumble.

We are now seeing the full face of the crumbling in the West. With birth rates in free-fall, people miserable in jobs and broken marriages, the average person neurotic like a cat on meth, enemies both inside and outside our borders, record-breaking national debts and industries that are paper tigers, our elites — politicians, media, academia and other enfranchised “successful” people — are fiddling while Rome burns (or at least, the tinder is ready and soaked in kerosene).
This is why I no longer permit doomsayers and demoralizers to comment at VP. While we do need to know the facts and accept the serious reality of the situation, we also need to face the current situation with courage and hope.

Despair is defeatist. Despair is of the Devil. Despair is exactly what the enemy wants you to feel. So, I will not countenance those who counsel it, whether they are genuinely on our side or not.

If you despair, that understandable and that is your right. Go ahead and quit. Go your own way. Go kill yourself. It's up to you. But you will not hang a millstone around any of my readers' necks; I do not buy it and I will not permit it.

We don't need numbers. Gideon only needed 300 followers. Jesus only required 12. I alone have more than 500 VFM and more than 5,000 Dread Ilk, and I am but one of many.

The night is dark and cold. But we not only do not despair, we smile, in some cases grimly, in some cases crazily, and in others anticipatorily, at the foolishness of those who think us beaten.

Because we already know how the story ends. And even those who don't believe are still able to hope.

I'm glad to read this. Morale is everything. Avoiding an echo chamber is one thing, but there are times and places which people should be able to count on for encouragement and reinforcement.

If he can stick to the facts, fine. But I'm not interested in predictions from people who have been repeatedly wrong, and who always predict the same thing.

If you genuinely believe there is no hope, then so be it, go kill yourself. But if you're desperately trying to convince everyone else that there is no hope, you clearly have an ulterior motive of one sort or another and you are not being honest.

Please oh please Voxman, another man, perhaps well-known has spoken very elonquently about such state of affairs:

This is good. My study of the Communist and Nazi regimes a that they were very good at removing hope. They isolated and controlled information, removed any path for advancement except at their unpredictable will. Those who managed to stand up to them didn't fear, had an external source of emotional and spiritual sustenance. But the lack of fear was the key and indeed the most potent threat to the seemingly all powerful regime.

Solzhenitsyn wrote a book called the oak and the calf that describes the fight he had with the powers in the USSR. Not unlike sjw warriors, their power is smothering like a sheet but easy to tear if you dare.

Despair is the council of Wormtongue. Despair guarantees defeat. Yet, while Men live, hope remains.

Then suddenly Merry felt it at last, beyond doubt: a change. Wind was in his face! Light was glimmering. Far, far away, in the South the clouds could be dimly seen as remote grey shapes, rolling up, drifting: morning lay beyond them.

But at that same moment there was a flash, as if lightning had sprung from the earth beneath the City. For a searing second it stood dazzling far off in black and white, its topmost tower like a glittering needle; and then as the darkness closed there came rolling over the fields a great boom.

At that sound the bent shape of the king sprang suddenly erect. Tall and proud he seemed again; and rising in his stirrups he cried in a loud voice, more clear than any there had ever heard a mortal man achieve before,

Arise,arise, Riders of Theoden!
Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter!
spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered,
a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!

With that he seized a great horn from Guthlaf his banner-bearer and he blew such a blast upon it that it burst asunder. And straightway all horns in the host were lifted up in music, and the blowing of the horns of Rohan in that hour was like a storm upon the plain and a thunder in the mountains.

Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!

Suddenly the king cried to Snowmane and the horse sprang away. Behind him his banner blew in the wind, white horse upon a field of green, but he outpaced it. After him thundered the knights of his house, but he was ever before them. Eomer roder there, the white horsetail on his helm floating in his speed, and the front of the first eored roared like a breaker foaming to the shore, but Theoden could not be outpaced. Fey he seemed, or the battle-fury of his fathers ran like new fire in his veins, and he was borne up on Snowmane like a god of old, even as Orome the Great in the bttle of the Valar when the world was young. His golden shield was uncovered, and lo! it shone like an image of the Sun, and the grass flamed into green about the white feet of his steed. For morning came, morning and a wind from the sea; and darkness was removed, and the hosts of Mordor wailed, and terror took them, and they fled, and died, and the hoofs of wrath rode over them. And then all the host of Rohan burst into song, and the sang as they slew, for the joy of battle was on them, and the sound of their singing that was fair and terrible came even to the City.

Hmm? *gulp* Lulz! Never mind.

Then again, I like to think I keep my Doomspeak actionable. For example, not believing Trump will do a quarter of what is promised, and at a high cost, though that being far better than nothing that would happen without him, is... just practical. I won't be taken, but I will support the lesser of two evils... or four, eight, thirty. He is it, as I see it.

All there is IS doom. On the good side, that means there is something to be done for the hopeful. Store food, ammo, seed, tools, guns, etc... but don't bury faith, hope, or charity while at it. Those who have lost hope are dead. War and hope, even if lost from the outset, are worth the fight... if it's a righteous fight. Still, that is doom. With hope and prayer but without a chance is better than surrender is all. It's a "long enough time interval" thing. Most stop counting at death. It seems that is where I begin. Began? Yeah, the latter.

Only falsehood is in need of many supporters.

And, of course, Vox is right. Victory has already been assured and secured. We just need to remain strong and faithful so that we will be around to enjoy, celebrate, and share in it on the Day it is fully realized. The crown goes to those who are in the race to win. Eyes on the prize.

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders . . . and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us . . . consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." One of the best things to come out of Gamergate and the Puppies and Trump defeating 18 opponents 19 times is how utterly worthless the opposition is when forced to actually fight.

The most despairing aspect is that in retrospect, our side refused to fight and instead cowered in front of such an enemy. But the future, if one is willing to show up for it, is glorious.

"We are now seeing the full face of the crumbling in the West. "

There is a silver lining to this. The first step in solving a problem is admitting that there is a problem. Its all out in the open now and people are starting to get angry about it. This is a good development.

THE WRATH OF THE AWAKENED SAXON
by Rudyard Kipling

It was not part of their blood,
It came to them very late,
With long arrears to make good,
When the Saxon began to hate.

They were not easily moved,
They were icy -- willing to wait
Till every count should be proved,
Ere the Saxon began to hate.

Their voices were even and low.
Their eyes were level and straight.
There was neither sign nor show
When the Saxon began to hate.

It was not preached to the crowd.
It was not taught by the state.
No man spoke it aloud
When the Saxon began to hate.

It was not suddently bred.
It will not swiftly abate.
Through the chilled years ahead,
When Time shall count from the date
That the Saxon began to hate.

The decline of white birth rates are a real problem. Funny how white despair cannot compare with Arab optimism even though they are killing their own and many others. When the Venezuelans are surviving by dumpster diving, we can be much happier at the thought. Now, Hugh Hewitt wants to dump Trump as if he can. Trump is optimistic although he can seem to keep staying in the PC storm despite everyone knows he is telling the truth.

Clear path? There is no path. The life of a VFM is eternal servitude to the will of the Dark Lord. There is no advancement, there is no reward, there is no glory. There is merely the fact that the Dark Lord's will is done. That alone is enough.

There is always glory in victory over your opponents, but as you said it's fleeting. And there are always more to replace them. And it's not like the Dark Lord is concerned with the details of the victories. He expects them, and that they are done is all that matters. If the victory is especially decisive, he may, on rare occasions, pause to voice a word of approval. It is for such that the VFM live.

This is just a crazy theory, and I'm not subscribing to it, but since we're talking about Hope and attempts to demoralize people I wanted to entertain the following what if scenario.

What if Donald Trump is setting his supporters up for a November as a way to demoralize them? I mean a Trump presidency and all of its consequences gives cause for a whole lot of hope, and a loss in November could be devastating to the collective consciousness of Trump's supporters.

Also, is just it me, or does every picture of Hillary Clinton on virtually every news site during the latest news cycle make her look like a raving lunatic? Is it just me? Or could these images be a part of the psyop?

Whatever the case, it IS crucial that we remain hopeful but not get our hopes up, so that when dispointed comes we still have that fighting spirit in us to continue our work.

Maybe it's just me, but I get the impression that the majority of Trump supporters remain skeptical that he will do or will be able to do the things he is claiming. But there is no other candidate even remotely believable.

Best case: he wins and is able to reverse the decline and restore the country to its former glory.

Good case: he wins and is able to at least delay the decline or even make some small reverses, giving us more time to prepare for the eventual fall.

Worst case: he wins and betrays us, or Crooked Hillary or the Socialist wins, and we get to the war and eventual rebuilding more quickly.

But note that the Women have been taken captive - I'd say "our women" but I'm not sure if would be correct or not. They enter schools and go to college and then on to careers where they lose their morality, sanity, and virginity.

They've been captured by barbarians, but the chains are all the worse for their invisibility. And it is not a painful captivity, but a trade of material wealth for spiritual poverty.

I've said it before.

The Left is fragile. To certain pressures, it resists very well, but like cast iron, too other pressures it breaks readily.

I stand atop a thirty year long tsunami of Conservatism, ready to take it too the next level. The Tea Party came and it was broken and tamed because the next iteration would have been perhaps enough to force reform. The Libertarians, lapdogs of the Establishment, fought the hated Socons. The Establishment took over. As in 'Braveheart' the Scottish nobles were more interested in appeasing King Edward than freeing their land.

And now come at last is the next iteration of the Tea Party. The Alt-Right seeks to convert the Real Conservatives, destroy the cucks, and murderize the Left.

I do not drink their Kool-Aid, but as Lincoln said of Grant...get my other generals a case of what that man drinks. He fights!

About 10 years ago, I became aware that much of what I had learned and come to believe regarding politics and Christian theology were a myth. Both seemed to accept a general attitude of defeatism, which effectively neutered any effort on our part as individuals to affect the culture around us.
This is an excerpt from my website I started last year: " No, don’t hide in a cave – ‘simply start building something better’ – right within your own family, friends and community. Become informed – read and analyze – challenge your own long held beliefs. Do they hold up to careful scrutiny? Are you stuck with pre-suppositions that cloud every interpretation of new information? We will get into some serious confrontations here with our long held opinions that we consider to be factual. “Prove all things and hold on to what is good” will be our motto, just as the bible requires. I didn’t say ‘suggests’. If we are unwilling to challenge our own opinions, we are unwilling to learn and eventually become delusional, believing that which does not exist. No one has ‘100% of the gospel’, as Justice Thomas wrote. No One!
Expect to meet resistance and ridicule, often from your family and friends. It comes with the territory.
The status quo does not like change – especially those now in charge. Their disciples are often the most vocal, because they can’t refute your argument, but they can be loud and obnoxious. Ignore them – they’re followers who will change when the cultural winds begin to reverse, as they are now."
Do I have all the answers? Of course not - but dang it, we will find them as necessary! My website links to a blog archive on Government/Religion/Politics/Culture - over 600 articles now by a variety of authors, including a heavy dose of VD.
We have only begun to fight - and fight we will!

I dislike the anti-doomsayer policy. The Bible has a lot of it.

I believe Vox is hardwired to equate doomsaying with surrender. Fellow Christian badass Bear Grylls is all about enforcing the positive thermogenic attitude (see his Celebrity Island show). Both men have widespaced eyes (as measured from caruncula to caruncula).

This widespace ethos is fine, but not everyone is hardwired that way. Some are hardwired to find doomspeech inherently motivating, simplifying and freeing. The variance in affect processing produces a divide of mutual incomprehensibility.

What I don't know is the genpop ratio of doomphobic to doomphilic. I suspect it's quite high. Thus the policy may be rational, even though it doesn't work for me.

Fortunately, I have the prophets, and need not speak:

"As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them."

"Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:

Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts."

Dunno, could be post-concussion syndrome I guess.

Whatever the case, it IS crucial that we remain hopeful but not get our hopes up, so that when dispointed comes we still have that fighting spirit in us to continue our work.

A dove fluttered at the end of a very long ribbon as the first of three archers readied his bow. The arrow flew close but low, and severed the ribbon. Not to be robbed of their chances, the second and third contestants loosed their arrows in quick succession, both missing.

The judge asked each archer what he was aiming at. The first said the body and the second said the head. The last said that he was aiming for an eye, and to him the judge gave the +3 CHA laurel wreath, which improved his confidence so much that he bagged an HB 8 that night.

Or something like that. I read The Aeneid a long time ago, and my memories are hazy. Anyway, aim high.

More appropriate to subject Kipling:

"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son."

The "Only Individualism is Conservative" argument is only ever made by people with no idea of what the Right is, what Conservatism means, or how human societies work. Too many young people have been poisoned by Objectivism or Libertarianism, and think that either one is somehow Conservative or Right-wing.

Individualism is an inherently Leftist philosophy. The idea is to leave the individual completely naked and alone before the power of the State. A "rugged individual" cannot seek or give the protection of a family or tribe, the sanctuary of a Church, or, most importantly to the Left, the ferocious response of an army when he is threatened or wronged. He may have Faith, and right, and God on his side, but those things matter very little in the conduct of the world. He will be destroyed, and few will even hear of his destruction.

There are no individualists on the front line of a war.

I was on a nightmare ferry ride from Tallinn Estonia to Stockholm two days ago. It was heavily populated by Africans (50%+) who liked to play their music loudly in the hallways with their doors open. I asked them politely if they wouldn't mind turning it down, since I needed rest. Got icy stares in return, but no words. So I reached in and pulled the door closed for them.
Next couple hours I was surrounded by angry Africans who did their best to make sense. I just laughed at them and refused to yield an inch, eventually the mob dispersed. Three die-hards remained, softened up a bit after a while when they realized they were getting zero white guilt out of me. Then some other folks in the corridor got the idea to play Slayer. Really loud. Then they disappeared completely.
See - happy endings are indeed possible.

Events result from series of many small acts - every trip to the gym, every vegetable planted in the garden, every new skill learned at work, every round fired at the range, every moment spent educating your children/family about their culture contributes to the cause and breaks the feeling of helplessness. When engaged in these acts, the next acts required present themselves."

Since we are the barbarians now, perhaps we can learn from this guy:
.
* RULE 1: “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.” Power is derived from 2 main sources – money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood. (These are two things of which there is a plentiful supply. Government and corporations always have a difficult time appealing to people, and usually do so almost exclusively with economic arguments.)
* RULE 2: “Never go outside the expertise of your people.” It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone. (Organizations under attack wonder why radicals don’t address the “real” issues. This is why. They avoid things with which they have no knowledge.)
* RULE 3: “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.” Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty. (This happens all the time. Watch how many organizations under attack are blind-sided by seemingly irrelevant arguments that they are then forced to address.)
* RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity’s very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.)
* RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. (Pretty crude, rude and mean, huh? They want to create anger and fear.)
* RULE 6: “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.” They’ll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They’re doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones. (Radical activists, in this sense, are no different that any other human being. We all avoid “un-fun” activities, and but we revel at and enjoy the ones that work and bring results.)

Blogger GFR June 08, 2016 7:10 PM

* RULE 7: “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.” Don’t become old news. (Even radical activists get bored. So to keep them excited and involved, organizers are constantly coming up with new tactics.)
* RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.)
* RULE 9: “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist. (Perception is reality. Large organizations always prepare a worst-case scenario, something that may be furthest from the activists’ minds. The upshot is that the organization will expend enormous time and energy, creating in its own collective mind the direst of conclusions. The possibilities can easily poison the mind and result in demoralization.)
* RULE 10: “If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.” Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog. (Unions used this tactic. Peaceful [albeit loud] demonstrations during the heyday of unions in the early to mid-20th Century incurred management’s wrath, often in the form of violence that eventually brought public sympathy to their side.)
* RULE 11: “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.” Never let the enemy score points because you’re caught without a solution to the problem. (Old saw: If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. Activist organizations have an agenda, and their strategy is to hold a place at the table, to be given a forum to wield their power. So, they have to have a compromise solution.)
* RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)

The fall of the West is not a "free fall" - it involves debt. (especially college debt which I forgot to add to my "Momma's don't let your babies grow up to be Career Girls" comment).

@146 - similar. I actually find the moves by modern day Lot's to the Redoubt scary not in the sense of fear, but that God is all but summoning people to his version of a "safe space" where Satan barely rules (and would be ejected if there were 10% more testosterone).

@135 - "The Art of the Deal" - but the dealer deals the cards face down.

X- We know how the story ends, but we don't know which chapter we are participating in.

@115 Saint James the Moor-slayer, pray for us. We need more slayers, and faster, please! Our Lady of Victory (aka OLo the Holy Rosary) and the battle of LaPonto are also models, but OLo Guadaloupe ended the slaughter of innocents here.

X- The Boomers aren't Doomers, but ought to be. Probably too much chemical youthful indiscretion.

@106 - agreed. Each cold cup of water offered in his name builds the kingdom of God, as does each act of training, prepping, work. Conversely, each sin, each compromise, each fall weakens the kingdom

@101 - either be a leader, or find one to follow, even knowing they will be unworthy. "I don't know" might be the best advice if you are really clueless, but it is better to voice both your opinion and knowledge of the subject than to remain silent. The fear of being wrong is no reason to censor yourself if you are likely to be right.

@95 You would know all about women's lamentations if the Huns were lining up to rape your dughters [sic] and your wife, while making you watch, and slicing your jugulars once they're finished slicing theirs. I still don't understand, if they lined up, they would be easy targets for my women-folk who would benefit from the practice. Of course the men-folk would have their backs, but the attitude here is "forget it, Hun". The probable result of a man using the ladies' room would be two loud indications of "gender reassignment". Even the cowgirls are employed when bulls need to be steered.

@93, add the Gods' of the Copybook headings...

@90 - Implants, 3d printed "lost plastic" casting Titanium maybe with some CNC (the local robotics team did something after melting aluminum soda cans). The rise of the VFMpire. (Literally, considering my dental situation). Jaws didn't have interchangeable fangs but that was last century.

@87, in my state, the average family size is 5 children. Somehow the culture of death hasn't reached here as much as other areas.

Blogger Wanda Sherratt June 08, 2016 8:18 PM

80 - Maybe you were thinking of the scene in the Mahabharata, where the master of weaponry, Drona, is giving his students a lesson in archery.

He fixes a straw replica of a bird high in a tree, then has the students aim their arrows at the target. As they stand with their bows taut, he asks them, "What do you see?" They each answer, "I see the bird." "Do you see the tree?" "Yes, I see the tree." And they go on: I see the sky. I see the leaves. I see a small cloud. He sends them all back to their places. Then he calls his star pupil, Arjuna. "What do you see?" "I see the bird." "Describe it." "I can't. All I can see is its eye." "Release your arrow!" And the arrow strikes the bird right through the eye.

@163 - Pessimism is about the future, thus the childlessness. Children represent hope for the future. Something that will continue after you are dead.

Molyneux acknowledges the burden placed on women - they have to carry and feed the infants. Yet only women can do it. The demonic deception is to have them compete for things they can only achieve a limited success instead of doing things they were biologically designed to do. A Homeschooling Mother does more to restore Christendom than dozens of men.

Blogger Revelation means hope June 08, 2016 9:07 PM

When people read the book of Revelation, they somehow skip over the first verse, where it is firmly declared that it is the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Jesus brings hope to all who claim His gift.

Instead, many focus on the plagues and deaths and destruction prophesied in the book, completely forgetting that the whole book clearly shows the love that our Lord has for humankind. Justice is being prepared, and will be served. We have many promises of the One who cannot lie to rely upon about that.

Does that mean that we resign ourselves on this earth to the fact that the Beast and the Dragon will seem to be winning more and more as the end of it all draws clearer? No. We are stewards of the gifts that He has given us, freedom of religion, freedom from the tyranny of a king (sorry Wheeler), good water, knowledge found in the scriptures and in good science. The simple joys that He has given to all.

Take hope in the victories you achieve, in educating your children, your friends, your loved ones, your coworkers about the truth of reality. NO ONE likes a doom-sayer, a whiner, a complainer who always sees the dark side of things and misses the ray of sunshine.

Joining in groups to turn back the tide of corruption and progressive doctrine and evil is to be celebrated. Stand firm. Take your place under the banner of justice.

Oh, and Love wins. But not their perverted version of love. Real Love as seen at the Cross.

I have no predictions of doom to make, since the Internet is Seldon's Mule. Morever, the Bible has already made all necessary predictions.

My autonomous reactions to doom, in order of increasing intensity: smirk, chuckle, adrenaline, aggression, tunnel vision. At the low end, I predicted Pablo Escobar's assassination at age 7 with a smirk.

I suppose I can understand most people's sensitivity to it by relating it to inputs that affect me, such as interpersonal conflict or duty failure. Must be a toxic ambience.

Anyhow, Christians are immortal guild prospects with max scores soft-capped by zone level, playing on a server scheduled for reformatting. Fearing scripted regional events does not make sense. They drop the best loot.

Rather, we should fear strife's absence. The ultimate gloomster was Solomon.

Back to Isaiah: Vibrant youfs oppress us, and women rule over us. When has that scripture been more true? If one subscribes to the "fulfillment of weird isolated snippets" theory, it probably counts. Certainly there has never been a more thorough exposure of privates.

There's always hope because when history starts to happen it tends to happen very quickly. Regimes that seemed destined to endure for centuries collapse in a few years (France of the ancien regime, the Soviet Union). Nations that seemed destined for self-destruction survive because they quite unexpectedly find the leader they need at the right time (Rome found Augustus, Spain found Franco).

And when history starts to happen quickly it almost always catches observers (and especially experts) by surprise.
