Damned neocons never stop

Michael Ledeen is, without question, the biggest liar in the US political commentariat.
Ledeen told Pollock that “It’s not just radical Islam. It’s radical Islam, plus their radical, secular allies North Korea, Russia, China, Cuba. So we’re fighting a global alliance which is coming after us. We should stand up for our own values and waging political war against them as we did against the communism and fascism in the last century.”
I'm only surprised that Mr. "Faster Please" didn't try to claim Iran was behind the Nice attack. What a fucking globalist liar.

As for his co-author Flynn, the fact that he was "PRESIDENT OBAMA’S DEFENSE INTEL CHIEF from 2012 to 2014" is sufficient evidence to prove he has no idea how to defeat ISIS.

It is unlikely that someone isnt pulling the strings ... someone is always pulling the strings.. thats the nature of war, politics, human interactions...but how really is this different than what being said here on VP..neocon vs alt right... both you and him see a pending, unavoidable conflict, a clash of cultures that will end in war... you want stop its by removing those that would be the soldiers from where you live (with force if required), he wants to remove the soldiers from where they live (with force as well) .... both views will probably end up at the same place ... bunch of innocents that just want to live are going to die for no other reason than being alive in the wrong place.

Its all theoretical, all fun ..until someone dies....

God.. if you really exist, and if you are reading this, and if you really love your creation, now would be a great time to show up because only you with your infinite power can change this path that humanity is on...

God exists. And He warned us that this would be coming, and that men's hearts would fail from fear. It will be a real global war.

But ultimately, it will come down to a spiritual matter, because Satan wants worship, and the ugly spirits will unite the world in seeking to crush the last remnants of those that truly worship Jesus. And THEN He will return, just in time.

But it isn't going to be an easy ride. Satan's true colors will be fully and completely displayed for the entire universe to see.

What this means? In order for Americans and others who love freedom to willingly surrender their Bill of Rights, and freedom of conscience, it will require a terrible war.

And economic ruin. Worldwide. Deep desperation.

But these neocons are the war fools who desire a worldwide conflagration. They are the other side of the leftist bloodthirsty coin. Who want a strong state who can crush the enemies. Who would have been right at home in 1938 Germany.

He gets off on imagining our (really his) opponents bleeding out in a ditch. He gets off on the humiliation of those who oppose him.
Problem is, normal junkies just burgle apartments and rob liquor stores. Fuckers like Ledeen destroy whole families, tribes, nations. And there's no law against it.

OT, if you want another argument against free trade

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-07-14/asbestos-tainted-firm-yuanda-australian-projects-investigation/7630552?WT.ac=localnews_perth

Asbestos is illegal in Australia. It was used heavily in construction many years ago and thousands of Australian workers ended with bad lungs and ended their lives on oxygen bottles. Exposure to any asbestos now requires specialist training and hazmat suits.

China has a free trade agreement Australia but does not have Australia's laws that protect workers, customers and the environment. When the tender for construction of the new Perth hospital went out a Chinese company underbid all Aussie companies to supply the roof panels. Turns out they are made of asbestos. However, can't prosecute or a chinese company in china for breaching australian laws.

This is the third incident I am aware of. Chinese milk was found to contain melamine and chinese berries contained hepatitis A. China does not have the same quality assurance standards as Australia, nor are their health laws as stringent. This makes it cheaper for China to create products but means we have no recourse, criminal or civil, when shit like this happens.

His comments do echo Ledeen's quote above. Just another battleship man looking to use his battleship in a carrier war. The idea of 4GW hasn't permeated modern establishment military thinking very deeply.

I have to give Flynn a bit of a pass. Obama listens to nobody and nothing, except his own arrogance.

Blogger Rantor July 16, 2016 6:33 AM

Flynn was opposed to US actions (arming rebel groups in Syria) against the Assad regime. He was eventually fired. He also opposes US antagonisation of Putin and has taken a lot of heat in the DC community for actually meeting with Putin. There were and are far worse in the department.

He is a moderate Dem and reportedly pro abortion, so I am not supporting him politically, but he was not one of the administration's favorites, because he opposed the crap they were and are doing in the Middle East.

Of course I have no idea why he is aligned with Ledeen. Ledeen's statement is a complete lie.

Ledeen is (in)famous for the Ledeen Doctrine:

"Every now and again the United States has to pick up some crappy little country and throw it against the wall, just to show the rest of the world we mean business."

In other words, although the quote is not openly acknowledged as far as I know, he's your standard American establishment arsehole who thinks that might makes right.

Slightly off topic but not too far afield since this post is on globalist insanity -- An amazing (I think) thought about borders I have been bouncing around in my head for a while, wanted to share with the great minds here:

There is a non-selfish case for strong borders, which is the argument from ecology. I have never heard this argument made, but consider ocean ecology.

The open ocean is, relatively speaking, uniform, bland and mostly barren. If you take a square km of open ocean, there will be some life but it will not be very pretty or diverse.

Contrast this with a reef (whether natural or man-made). It is teeming with colorful life of all kinds, with incredible variety and beauty. One square km of reef contains orders of magnitude more life and much more diversity than the open ocean ever could. This is naturally achieved with coral but you can achieve the same effect by sinking a ship or even dropping a rusty city bus in the ocean.

What achieves this? Simply, borders, walls, barriers. If you suddenly made all the walls vanish in a reef ecosystem, surely 99% of all its life would be dead within a week, even though the climate would be the same in all other respects.

Barriers are the stuff that ecosystems are made of, and this is just as true of humans as it is of marine life. Globalists who seek a borderless 'open ocean' are dissolving cultures and reducing human thriving (for most) and reducing diversity.

@13: The berries were a part of a brand that sells frozen food and they are not Chinese but they were sourcing they started berries from China and did not tell anyone. Unless someone looked at the labelling every time they would not have found it. Do you check the label every time you buy an item that you have bought a hundred times before? Are you realistically going to check the label of every item every time you shop to make sure its still not imported from China?

>tools
You don't eat tools so no worries right? You don't eat roof panels either but little do you know the cheap roof panels your company just purchased for your office are made of a completely illegal material that through prolonged exposure destroys your lungs. Is the extra few dollars the you or company saved worth a decade on an oxygen bottle and a premature death?

What other corners are companies not answerable to your local laws going to cut if they know they won't ever be gaoled or sued for it? Lead paint on toys?

Irregardless, when production of quality tools ceases because your local industry cannot compete with cheap and inferior imports and all that is left is crappy tools that you have to keep replacing and which barely do the job, will the few dollars be worth it?

A good quality tool lasts a lifetime and is an investment that pays off in the long run. Continually replacing your cheap and broken tools costs you more over time.

I remember Ledeen 35 years ago insisting that the vast majority of Iranians are pro-American, pro-freedom prisoners of a tiny clique of Islamic fanatics. That with the tiniest encouragement, they would throw off their shackles and leap to be our partners in peace and freedom. An *entire generation* of Iranians has been born and grown to maturity while he continued to babble this line, and things have just gotten worse and worse. There is absolutely NO sign that people in Iran are anything but what they appear to be: Muslim barbarians.

Ledeen is a perfect example of why Conservatism, Inc is bankrupt today. They adopted their attitudes and talking points back in the 80s, spent the succeeding decades repeating them, and figured that that counted as a "movement". They've never aspired to do anything more than toss a snappy retort to the power-holders of the Left, then enjoy the applause for being daring and original.

Maybe that argument will fly with the Mother Gaia folks, but it seems like such a awkward analogy anyone would ... Maybe... Be able to see that human beings are not like maritime ecosystem and say that the argjment fails because of that.

But it was a strike of genius I must say.

Except for the fact that most 'no borders' believers are interested in depopulating the planet, sure.

Hit them where it really hurts; right in the kebab stand.

Given you consider an isolated breeding population a species.
Allowing two previously isolated species to interbreed destroys the genetic diversity.

Human culture simlarly needs to be isolated to remain distinct.
Borders isolate the cultures.
Remove the borders and allow the cultures to mix; then cultural diversity is destroyed and everyone loses the blessed distinctness of the kebab stand.

@13: Forgot to add: If you ever eat out how do you know the food you are eating is not imported from China?

Free market libertarians don't seem to understand that a free market can only work in a very high trust environment. Unless I can trust the berry seller not to give me hep A or the building supplier not to sell me products riddled with asbestos I would be forced to rigorously test everything pre purchase which would be an impossible task. That is why government standards and bodies and laws and investigators and certifying authorities are needed. They are the middlemen necessary to create the trust enough for the free market to function. If some participants in the market are not bound by the same laws as others then how can their be trust because the other is not one of those who has this 'market trust' granted to him.

The flip side to this trust is that there are costs from the authorities who grant and maintain it. Suppliers pay those costs for the goodwill guaranteed to the customer by the authority on the supplier's behalf.
Those who are not under the jurisdiction of those authorities but are allowed to participate in that market are granted an unfair advantage by not having to pay those costs.

Those costs include things beyond quality assurance and health and safety and encompass workers rights, animal welfare, environmental protection and so on.

The advantage of not paying those costs gives them the ability to slowly dominate the market against a hamstrung competition.

Quality testing of imports may catch diseased fruits but it can never make up for the difference in costs between the local farmer who pays a decent wage and has to meet worker safety standards and the foreign worker paid a dollar a day with no bathroom breaks and workplace safety.

The problem in the long term, aside from destroying local production* and driving the standard of living down to the lowest common denominator of countries with whom we share free trade and thus compete, is that the trust required for the free market is goint to disappear as shopping becomes russian roulette,

*Quite a few farmers, unable to compete with cheap imports from third world countries (where the government subsidises ag) have committed suicide, bulldozed in their crops, or walked off their farms and let the banks have them,

Three other points:

First, a lot of people are very eager to deploy large numbers of troops for another land campaign. Very Bad Idea. Historically, the American electorate has been willing to support a shooting war for three years...and then will demand either victory in sight of a withdrawl being attempted. We need to be fighting this with airpower, seapower, and allies.

Second, we need to have realistic victory goals. Bush got into trouble partly because he wanted to remake Iraq, not simply destroy the Baathist regime.

Third, we must not neglect the propaganda end...which may lead to a very unpleasant place. The ringleaders of the jihadis are not poor, not unfamiliar with the West. They're educated men who have rejected the West and its ways. It's time to take pride in our civilization again, promote it...and also look at why it was ejected and correct those problems.

Pushing Isis from land it holds in Iraq will happen in earnest later this year. However, there is going to have to be a large scale and long term occupation of Iraq after in order to keep the land.

Blogger Thucydides July 16, 2016 9:55 AM

Ledeen is right, but in the wrong way.

Consider that WWI and WWII essentially became global because there were several separate regional wars which blended together because of overlapping regional alliances and structures.

WWI started with the Austro Hungarians intervening in the Balkans, drawing in the various other regional powers (the British Empire's fatal mistake was to enter the war; they were considering sitting it out right to the last minute).

WWII is more clear cut; The British Empire vs Fascist Italy in the Mediterranean Sea, Germany vs France on the continent, Russia vs Japan in the far East, Japan vs China and eventually Japan vs the Western Empires in SE Asia.

So while the various powers named by Ledeen don't have a lot in common (the Chinese would gladly go against Islamic radicals if no one else were doing so, and Russia and China are only allies against the West out of mutual convenience rather than shared interests), the common factor is they are working against the West, and will continue to succeed so long as we are weak and irresolute.

And because they cover so many overlapping areas, one we do get into a regional conflict, it is almost inevitable that other powers will become involved, one way or another....

I've looked long and with thoroughness: there is no evidence that Russia is a threat to Europe or the US. This is true of both capabilities and intentions. NATO diplomacy forced Russia into alliance with China, and all the while Russia was publicly begging the West to sensibly respect the interests of all involved. Russia would have been an extremely valuable ally of the US against radical Islam. These lies have sad consequences. Many people will needlessly die for lack of entente with Russia.

90 day intense land campaign against ISIS could be sufficient. But you must destroy your enemy, not worry about collateral damage, and leave a strong man like Assad or Hussein in charge of pacifying the remnants.

15 years of whack-a-mole against terror leaders has not gained victory nor brought us any closer to the end.

Kill the enemy, destroy their villages, leave a ruthless strong man in power. AND GO HOME. Then use the police and infantry to round up all illegal aliens, Islamic refugees, and criminal aliens and send them to the country of their birth, their parents birth, or their grandparents birth.

The only war we have won since WWII was Grenada because we stopped caring about victory and worried too much about tertiary matters.

There's a principle that governs all physical systems: the higher the degree of contact between them, the faster they equalise, i.e. become the same.

So yes, barriers are essential.

People being highly complex physical systems, we can try to escape the governance of this principle, because some of us don't like reality (i.e. are crazy) but we cannot actually do so.

Hence long ago people came up with the analogous rule for human affairs:

"Good fences make for good neighbours."

Don't pay any attention to the arsehole above who sniped but offered no counter-argument; your instincts are sound in this case.
