Mind. Blown.

Now, you all know that I love Babymetal, and I thought it was pretty cool that they were playing "Breaking the Law" with Rob Halford of Judas Priest at the Alternative Press Music Awards. So, naturally, I had to check it out. But the last thing I expected was who was going to start playing guitar on stage....

Yui is only strumming along, but Moa can actually play, even though their guitars weren't mixed very loud, if it all. And Su is obviously having a great time being on stage with Rob Halford.

There are no words. I keep telling myself "At least he likes David Sylvian" ...

Very well. We are entertained.

For being the "intelligent elite" not many of them understand how to remove the "sent from my iPhone" auto signature. Makes me cringe every time I see that.

You are right, our concerns are not the same. But I won't take a big old dump on your doorstep

That looked like fun.

It's getting to where a guy can't follow an obscure band in peace anymore without them going mainstream all the sudden. Soon everyone will want Babymetal tickets and you will have to fight hippies for tickets.

OK, so I watched the video and then clicked the recommended link on YouTube's sidebar for "babymeteal Death Live Crucifixion"

I don't know whether to be impressed or appalled (why not both), but it did sound better than 95% of the black/death metal tracks I heard in my youth.

Guuud morning little schoolgirl!

Halford another Keith Richards. As in he's still alive?!
He even looks and sounds pretty healthy for (Whackopedia is not worthless) 64. Old enough to be those girls grandfather.
Was surprised to find out Priest dates back to '69.

You piqued my curiosity, so I watched it.
Great theatrics, not overdone. I've seen more than a few metal shows where it's all about the very cheesy theatrics.

Gave a proper listen to some of their other songs too. Had tried after Vox mentioned them previously but was put-off by the weirdness, the age of the girls, and what I perceived to be their shrill voices mis-matching the death metal backing. But I see now that Su has an amazing voice and the matchup isn't a whole lot different than some of the Goth Metal I've enjoyed (Tristania and Within Temptation for starters).

Some of Su's notes on "Karate" sounded very familiar, and then I remembered from where- they're similar to Epica's exceptionally good live recording of "Cry for the Moon"

I didn't know Walter White could sing?

Yui is hilariously delirious in most interviews...she is pop-Zen.

My first thought was "didn't know @monsterhunter45 did metal" but then it struck me - Lob Harford is MOSH!

Truly, mind blown.

I didn't really like this performance that much.

Obviously I have no idea how to make this formula more successful, but imo they need to work on their singing. More techniques, more range, more diaphragm, do some more of the hip hop style.

but was put-off by ... the age of the girls

Feature, not bug.

Epica/ Cry For The Moon should be used at a Trump rally...

Rob is sounding good lately. There was a period where he just sucked live.

It may have been his back problems, which he must have fixed. He's moving around a lot more as well.
