The prophetic vision of Frank Frazetta

That's pretty remarkable considering that it was painted back in 1968. Of course, the larger question is: did Frank Frazetta predict the results of the 2016 US presidential election in the painting entitled "Rogue Roman". Think about it. Who was the roguest Roman of them all? Was it not... Gaius Julius Caesar?

The Frazetta Code. It could be Castalia's first national bestseller.

Honestly I'd have to hand the Roman Roguish Crown to Marcus Antonius, who would look a lot more at home in that painting.

And would a lot more fun at any party.

Blogger Scott6584 July 24, 2016 9:23 AM

So, yesterday I went over to my brother's house to hang out, and among the topics we talked about was Ted Cruz, and his career suicide this past week. I realize many outside of Texas don't understand the attraction, but Hispanics have been part of the fabric of Texas since the very beginning, so his Cuban origins were not disqualifying for many of us. What we liked about Cruz was his obstinate determination to stick his finger in the eyes of leadership in Washington, and his disagreeableness was actually an asset.

But there is a limit. My brother shared that his mother-in-law watched Ted Cruz give his speech, and then immediately after turned to her husband and said, "I've been a Cruz girl, but now I am a Trumpy." That was her immediate reaction to the speech, before any pundits had time to comment. Also, both my brother and his wife adamantly agreed that Cruz was finished. So it doesn't surprise me that many of Cruz's most steadfast supporters in Texas are angry, and are abandoning him in droves.

What I don't understand is why Trump doesn't just allow him to commit suicide unassisted. Why doesn't Trump just let him die on the vine, and turn his full attention to Hillary? It seems counterproductive to me for Trump to spend any more time wasted on Ted Cruz, when even some of his most staunch supporter like myself, and those in my family are abandoning him based on his own conduct, without need of encouragement by Trump.

Also, both my brother and his wife commented on how much Trump's family helped him this past week.

Just thought I'd let you guys know...

What I don't understand is why Trump doesn't just allow him to commit suicide unassisted. Why doesn't Trump just let him die on the vine, and turn his full attention to Hillary?

Because Trump is a vanquisher. As long as Cruz is going to keep challenging him, Trump is going to keep kicking him as an example to every other would-be challenger. That is who he is. To expect him to do otherwise is rather like asking me to stop kicking Scalzi. It's just not realistic.

Besides, what can he say about Hillary that is more effective than letting #DNCleaks take its toll?

As contrasted with Romney, who lacked the killer instinct. He tops Obama in the first debate, goes easy on him in the second.

That is Napoleon's credo. He was a very different personality type than Trump. Trump would never abase himself before women the way Napoleon did, for one thing.

Letting the enemy destroy himself: Trump did let him speak at the convention after he read the draft of Cruz's speech.

Finishing the job: kicking the enemy while he's down.

This is about destroying Cruz's re-election chances in the Senate. Like Vox said, Trump is vanquisher.

Speaking of the DNC email hacks from Wikileaks, it just gets better for Cruz since "Mr Principle" is being shown to have slithered to the DNC and Hillary for money and help w smearing Trump.

Cruz is done. Wasted time on him. Let Cruz self-destruct. Cruz is a worthless distraction now, unless it turns out that Cruz really did reach out to the Democrat Party. Then, all Cruz's support, especially in Texas, will be gone.
Trump needs to stop with the "I know the system better than anyone" and that Trump is the "only one that can fix it" BS.
Trump has only one thing to follow through ... immigration. Next, undoing/redoing "trade" deals.
All the rest, I expect no difference than with any other Democrat or eGOP.

What I don't understand is why Trump doesn't just allow him to commit suicide unassisted.

That wouldn't be as much fun, and Cruz showed what happened when you let him think he's not beaten.

Trump was magnamimous in victory and extended an olive branch after Indiana, and moved on despite Cruz's pissy reaction. Then Cruz came to the convention and tried to screw Trump in a passive-aggressive way that no one could exactly pin on him. So now Trump's going to make an object lesson of him, as a fun break now and then from dismantling Hillary. Everyone needs a hobby.

Also, the globalists will need a leader in Congress to rally around when Trump is in the White House. It won't be Hillary. Is there a better candidate than Cruz? Take him out now.

Anonymous Sazerac July 24, 2016 11:32 AM

I always liked Marcus Aurelius. Googling him I came across some quotes which seem fitting for this day and age.

"Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth."

There must have been SJWs in the Roman days.

"Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking."

Some good advice for gammas and women with blue hair.

"Never let the future disturb you. You will meet it, if you have to, with the same weapons of reason which today arm you against the present."

It's time to start making Western Civilisation Great Again

Most people can't. But it's more common among high-performing people because it is part of what makes them successful. Michael Jordan had the most extreme case of anyone I've seen, hammering his high school competitor DURING HIS HALL OF FAME ACCEPTANCE SPEECH.

That is off-the-charts competitive psychosis. Trump isn't anywhere nearly that bad; in his case, I suspect it's more because Cruz didn't stay down after Indiana.

Blogger Snidely Whiplash July 24, 2016 12:57 PM

Trump offered Cruz peace after Indiana.
"I've won, Ted. Jump on the train, let's work together to make America great again!"

"I will fight you on the beaches ! I will fight you in the streets! I will never give up! I will NEVER surrender!!!!"

"Okay, your choice."

What was great was Trump didn't have to do anything to destroy Cruz, but get out of the way. Cruz actually thinks neo-cons are some kind of majority the GOP.

It boggles the mind how many books are filled with long tedious analysis of otherwise mediocre fine artists out there... and Frazetta was a giant.

An alpha is surrounded by fanboys swimming in a lake of envy, all grins when you're there, and gossip when you're not. Self-deprecating humor is fine, until one of them pipes up, and then you have to swat them down hard. It's just easier. (And it can be fun.) Otherwise the rest get brave.

Somewhat OT: In line with Castalia's mission, I'd like to inform the Ilk of a unintentionally hilarious "pink" story I just read spoilers on.

The spoilers were for the eighth Harry Potter story, the theater play. Needless to say I'm very glad I didn't wait to buy and read the book.

An old character and his gamma ways returns, and there's actually an unintentional full-on SJW character.

Also, let's just say you won't be able to take these 2 quotes from books 4 & 5 at face value ever again...

"The Lestranges were faithful, when Azkaban is broken open they will be rewarded beyond their dreams."

"and he wondered, with a feeling of great trepidation, what had happened to make Lord Voldemort the happiest he had been in fourteen years."

Just google the title+spoilers+reddit if you want the details...

Splains the incessant Scalzi kicking to a degree, but Trump is a fricking historical liberal sympathetic nightmare, but then Islam and body counts. Reframe the narrative.

Lizard Queen has taken 30 years of public oaths in proxy for "her" people and violated every one of them. Her recent seizure moment makes me think she is getting played like King Herod at worst or Nebucanezzar at best. Either way, Trump has never violated any public governmental oaths, therefore, she may a have a public Herodian episode destroy the Clinton worship cult. I say, bring it on.
