Trump shows loyalty again

This is one reason why Trump is laying waste to the US political scene. Disloyal, treacherous politicians have never encountered anyone like him.

In other words, a friend and employee screwed up, created a problem, and yet neither of the Trumps threw her under the bus. They had to know from the beginning whose mistake it was, but they refused to identify her. And then they wouldn't permit her to fall on her sword in her attempt to take full responsibility for her error.

That is more than a leader, that is a teacher.

That being said, I would still look hard into whoever wrote the rick-rolling into the speech. That tends to smack of intentional mischief, perhaps even malice.

But Trump gets it. He's a decent guy and has proven it many times over.

There is indeed much to learn from Trump. He is both the most transformational American political figure since Jackson as well as an educator on what a true man does best: loyalty. The communists cannot even understand the concept.

I thought the rick-roll was just funny when I heard it, kind of an inside-internet-joke, similar to if someone had worked the word "centipede" into a speech. But, if Mrs Trump isn't aware of the rick-roll.... then, yeah, I could see how someone would think it was mischief instead of somewhat immature humor.

I just assumed that it was all intention 4D politicking. Media makes a big deal about a speech given by a non-politician that, frankly, most Americans aren't going to give a damn about because a) it's a nice speech b) Melania appears like a nice c) looks positively juvenile compared to the scandals Clinton is suffering through right now.

In the end it is going to look like a vindictive media is singling out Trump and his family for the most minor mistakes. It also highlights the hypocrisy of the democrats, after all Vice President Biden is a proven plagiarist. Lastly the media is going to show Melania's speech over and over again further exposing the American people to Trumps message.

I really think the media got played here.

Blogger Servant of the Chief July 20, 2016 2:45 PM

The press will try to spin this as a cynical move on Trump's part.

Yes, a cynical move... that makes him look like the bigger man. Which is not hard to do given his competition, but still.

Blogger Jim Carroll July 20, 2016 2:50 PM

Come on. Bush's biggest problem was that his loyalty overwhelmed every other basis for decision making. It's not like there haven't been Presidents recently that weren't loyal and didn't honor it. I think that's part of the problem (misplaced loyalty).

Blogger lowercaseb July 20, 2016 2:50 PM

this is a different Trump than I have seen and I am VERY plesently surprised. I was used to the all business, "You're Fired" persona. Not exactly my favorite, but something that is needed nowadays.

to see this level of empathy, understanding, forgiveness and loyalty just inspires me.

This is a man I will follow. I have no qualms about being a middle of the road Delta. Give me a leader that cares about me, and I will pay back that loyalty 100x

...and I think the majority of the country is with me as well.

Speaking for the Deltas of America...Lead, and we will build.

Ok so Trump arranged the rick-roll and he already had someone lined up to take the fall. But the Trumps never intended to fire anyone in order to reinforce how generous and loyal and compassionate they are. And Merideth will eventually get an ambassadorship to a country of her choice.

Blogger Robert Divinity July 20, 2016 3:02 PM

Bush's biggest problem was that his loyalty overwhelmed every other basis for decision making.

Bush had no loyalty outside the family business/circle; he and the cucks sent American troops to die and then abandoned them rhetorically, for example. Only a true man such as Trump can be loyal to those who are under the radar.

Blogger Jourdan July 20, 2016 3:03 PM

This speaks very highly of Trump as a man.

And we haven't had a *man* in the Oval Office in quite a long time.

Anonymous Elipe July 20, 2016 3:05 PM

I hope at Trump's inauguration, he'll suddenly sprout golden, flowing rock star hair and an armor assembles itself together on him Iron-Man-style. And then a staff slides out of his oversized metal gauntlet.

Then as he fixates his gaze on the C-Span camera, an eyepiece slides over his right eye and he pounds the staff on the ground, the light dancing off it, and says:

"AMERICA - LET'S MAKE IT GREAT AGAIN."

And with that, the jets on his back blaze to life and he punches a hole through the roof of the White House on his way up into the air. After ascending a couple hundreds of feet into the air, he lifts his free hand, palm facing the White House, and lets loose a stream of liquid gold that splashes all over the walls, ceilings, and even the news cameramen and staff. He then lands with a loud THUD, shattering the golden sculptures that were moments ago the MSM people into a million, tiny pieces, decorating the floor of the newly christened Golden House.

That's how good of a man I see Trump being.

And this is a comment by me from back in January:

All this stuff about how President Trump can't touch the permanent government because blah, blah, blah. Trump is changing all the rules. Paying attention to the campaign at all? If he needs to he'll persuade Congress to pass a law giving him plenary authority to hire and fire whomever he chooses throughout the entire federal bureaucracy. On Bushes loyalty/view of same:

Bush the younger was a strange man. He wanted to do good, but lacked the reflection to make good decisions. I think he was loyal to those he saw a responsibility to, but in the wider respect he was not loyal to the nation or those outside of a very narrow sphere. Recall how scouter Libby was treated, a loyal assistant he hung out to dry, it says a lot about the man.

As far as his family and their loyalty to the nation that gave them so much, his daughters never joined any military organization while they father sent folks to war. Far from it they partied in school. One could excuse it because they were chicks, but what did they do in any way to support those who had to bear the price for their fathers decision? The never made any effort to help vets. Later on of the daughters made her pet project gay rights, which tends to indicate she is gay (still not married, going looking chick). That also explains her mother and grandparents slide in that direction of gay rights. So they feel no real need to sacrifice with the citizenry, but great need to support their own daughter. Hmmmm........

Now Jeb. He really did say we needed to import Hispanics because they were more fertile then Anglos. He has no loyalty to the American citizens. His family was trusted with a great deal of power by the republican party voters but when he is rebuked in this campaign, he does not feel any sense of loyalty back, notice his failure to support Trump. A very small minded man.

Altogether I take it the family sees themselves as some kind of royalty, not subject to the same rules as the peasant class.

Trump does not seem that way he seems to be a bit more down to earth, as are his sons. We will see in time if that is the case of if Hubris seeks out the Trump clan, as it did the Bushes, Clintons, and Kennedys.

Blogger Lovekraft July 20, 2016 3:25 PM

The average worker has to grovel because of the raping of our economies by globalists, over-reaching bureaucracies, PC speech/behavior restrictions.

The average worker should feel pride in his work, knowing that his effort is appreciated and if he makes mistakes, owns up to them and carries on.

For some reason, addressing the struggles of the average man gets drowned out by feminist harpies, race baiters like BLM and (((other))) agendas.

In the SJW world, software developers can make six figure mistake and not get fired, bit one rude private account tweet will if someone objects. Virtue signaling is the only job.

In the AltR world, an error causing embarrassment is not a crime. Trump cares about doing the job. Not credentials, feelings, or any virtue signaling.

Bill Clinton had an error where he quoted at length his healthcare speech in the state of the union (1994) because of a laptop confusion.

Not everything is an inside job, not everything is a false flag, and not everything is a 7-dimensional chess play move. Haven't you all had real jobs? Haven't you seen people make errors they really shouldn't have before? Haven't you made errors you really shouldn't have before?

I'm not seeing a hugely compelling reason to assume this is some pre-planned masterstroke. I think it's mostly adequately explained by a fairly normal cock-up, followed by Trump taking modest advantage of a bad situation to show his loyalty.

Besides, in a way, that's better anyhow. We don't need a master media Xanatos puppeteer, we need someone who can react to the United State's advantage to situations that arise out in the field.

The only reason to believe otherwise is the rickroll aspect, but, meh. I don't think that raises the probability of this being some master plan above the pre-existing chances of this just being a cock-up. Cock-ups happen. And I say this even being fully aware that Trump does have a track record of doing this sort of thing for months. But when he does it, it's more graceful than this, and doesn't involve dragging anybody else into it. I think if something was pre-planned, it wouldn't have looked like this and involved anyone else.

Blogger Teri July 20, 2016 3:41 PM

I think that loyalty is a quality greatly lacking these days. There was a time when there was a two way loyalty in the work place. Workers stayed with a company and the company felt an obligation to protect those jobs. (And I am not naive enough to think this was true everywhere, but it did exist.) I believe a lot of divorces are caused by lack of loyalty.

It is refreshing to see it in a Presidential candidate, that's for sure.

Blogger Leo Little Book in Shenzhen July 20, 2016 3:41 PM

@37 That's the imagery I wanted to evoke. Although I mean, the man is rich enough for it...

But in seriousness, this move by Trump looks like yet another one of his infamous 4D chess moves. Someone over at CH commented that the media has been doing split screen reruns of Moochelle and Melania giving their speeches. Guess who looks better in their dress, and got free publicity.

Then you have this act of loyalty, which will have a very strong effect on voters in his favor. It's such an incredibly rare situation when a boss shows loyalty to his underlings that it's amazing.

In fact... this is probably a good time to signal boost the stories of how Hillary abuses her underlings. Didn't a Secret Service guy write a book?

I love that mea culpa. Very well written. She essentially took advantage of the publicity surrounding the controversy to say this:

"Mr. Trump's campaign is historic, Melania's message and presentation are beautiful, I made a mistake, the mass media & political press are confused, and Hillary & her campaign are hysterical."

If you don't see it, look at the consonance pattern connecting the last two paragraphs, an elegant h-c-p-m-m-p-c-h. The kind of people that will read that apology -- people like us -- will subconsciously fill in the appropriate places with media/press and Hillary campaign.

Brilliantly well done. A great example of how to take a misstep in stride, and look for the opportunities that were accidentally created. I assume she learned it from Trump.

Mr. and Mrs. Trump are documented class acts, they are simply lovely and have a history of such.

Its why I adore his adult kids and it was so great when Trump referred to his youngest boy with our FLOTUS, Barron about maturity and Kasich!

I wish Trump Juniors would be VPs or even Ivanka, they are fine young people - they would or could turn around this counter culture of young pple not acting right or presenting themselves improperly. However, reality states Pence.

This is what leadership is, to teach, to help, to embrace and work past from 3D into 4D allegiances. Go beyond norms.

This is why I never really bought the tough Trump saying, 'your fired,' because its TV yet when in reality Donald and Melania are kind, whom I adore. Like I adore SB; beautiful, filled with light, blessed womb, she too loves Jesus, they love life, they love and support their husbands, its just a beautiful - and epic example of leadership and the dear lovely women whom their husbands love and in turn the wives support their husbands, its a family unit at work!!

Our men love God, Our men love their wives and children and they are leaders.

Mr. Trump would never shun or discard Meredith, its a beautiful example of taking a blunder and making it into a blessing and the error overall was minor.

Melania to Michelle to whomever, all share common themes, moms want their dads/husbands their patriarch to succeed. The speech was overall what women are supposed to say, they want a future for America, we all promote the overall message of our new glamours FLOTUS.

Meredith is one of my fave names, she did well, it was a mistake, and she appears to be of such good character in fact great character the Trumps did not mistreat her but embrace and love her and in turn the loyalty is deepened. Awesome.

When we make mistakes here we are or I am gently helped and sometimes when I was very irresponsible and stupid I was pulled aside but never hurt. I was taught and helped not harmed into why my words were absurd or incorrect, meaning I learned I was wrong and made a blunder but in taking basic responsibility for errors I was never shunned. I merely changed my wrong thinking into the right thinking, the talks on the dialectic not rhetoric saved me from sjw henhouse moms side of the family.

All I had to do was utilize the dialectic, no emotions, no rhetoric but be clear, firm and let the problematic family mem's react with fits of nullsense. Thank you to all here, Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Day for helping me along.

That is why I link to books, support where ever I can and continue to learn and learn well. This outlet and the allies here have my full support, please accept my Thank You.

I still offer my money earned with a couple jobs to re pay those here who saved my life over winter and mid spring, please accept my deepest gratitude.

Before the campaign, I wouldn't have said I liked Trump, but I thought I understood him pretty well, and respected some things about him. One of those was his loyalty and the loyalty he inspires in response.

I've been telling people since the beginning that if they want to understand him -- rather than rant aimlessly at tabloid caricatures -- they should watch the first few seasons of The Apprentice. Loyalty was critical there many times. The clearest example I can remember was in the first season, where a woman on one team said something which everyone knew was true -- Trump even said it was true -- but which undermined and embarrassed her team leader. She wasn't at all the person responsible for the loss, but Trump hammered on her disloyalty and ended up firing her, in kind of a disgusted way.

I know: reality TV, cameras, editing to make him look good, blah blah blah. The point is, this is a guy who values loyalty more like a Mafia don than like a typical politician.

Ivanka, or someone posing as Ivanka, is in the BB comments sometimes posting. She has been posting a little bit during the convention. Might not really be her though.

For instance, right after the Melania speech, maybe 10 minutes later she posted CNN was already bringing out the hatchets against Melania.

First, the media loves this. They love an excuse to show a beautiful woman on the front page.

Mrs Obama does a fine job as first lady. One can question her choice of husband, but she is loyal, supports him, looks after the children and is fiercely protective of them. If Melania manages to get some of the goodwill held by Mrs Obama then it was a brilliant move.

Interestingly the effect of this will be deeper. This was a classic media storm, a ganging up, mob action. Even Vox is still baying for blood. These things can not only be survived, but in fact are to your advantage.

I've only begun to read "Mein Kampf" for the first time because I was afraid of any association with Adolf Hitler. I just read this today and it seems relevant. Volume 1 Chapter 3

"By far the greatest share in their political 'education,' which in this case is most aptly designated by the word 'propaganda,' falls to the account of the press. It is foremost in performing this 'work of enlightenment' and thus represents a sort of school for grown-ups. This instruction, however, is not in the hands of the state, but in the claws of forces which are in part very inferior. In Vienna as a very young man I had the best opportunity to become acquainted with the owners and spiritual manufacturers of this machine for educating the masses. At first I could not help but be amazed at how short a time it took this great evil power within the state to create a certain opinion even where it meant totally falsifying profound desires and views which surely existed among the public. In a few days a ridiculous episode had become a significant state action, while, conversely, at the same time, vital problems fell a prey to public oblivion, or rather were simply filched from the memory and consciousness of the masses.

Thus, in the course of a few weeks it was possible to conjure up names out of the void, to associate them with incredible hopes on the part of the broad public, even to give them a popularity which the really great man often does not obtain his whole life long; names which a month before no one had even seen or heard of, while at the same time old and proved figures of political or other public life, though in the best of health, simply died as far as their fellow men were concerned, or were heaped with such vile insults that their names soon threatened to become the symbol of some definite act of infamy or villainy. We must study this vile Jewish technique of emptying garbage pails full of the vilest slanders and defamations from hundreds and hundreds of sources at once, suddenly and as if by magic, on the clean garments of honorable men, if we are fully to appreciate the entire menace represented by these scoundrels of the press.
There is absolutely nothing one of these spiritual robber-barons will not do to achieve his savory aims.

Blogger LES July 20, 2016 5:08 PM

He will poke into the most secret family affairs and not rest until his truffle-searching instinct digs up some miserable incident which is calculated to finish off the unfortunate victim. But if, after the most careful sniffing, absolutely nothing is found, either in the man's public or private life, one of these scoundrels simply seizes on slander, in the firm conviction that despite a thousand refutations something always sticks and, moreover, through the immediate and hundredfold repetition of his defamations by all his accomplices, any resistance on the part of the victim is in most cases utterly impossible; and it must be borne in mind that this rabble never acts out of motives which might seem credible or even understandable to the rest of humanity. God forbid! While one of these scum is attacking his beloved fellow men in the most contemptible fashion, the octopus covers himself with a veritable cloud of respectability and unctuous phrases, prates about ' journalistic duty ' and suchlike lies, and even goes so far as to shoot off his mouth at committee meetings and congresses - that is, occasions where these pests are present in large numbers - about a very special variety of 'honor,' to wit, the journalistic variety, which the assembled rabble gravely and mutually confirm.
These scum manufacture more than three quarters of the so-called 'public opinion,' from whose foam the parliamentarian Aphrodite arises. To give an accurate description of this process and depict it in all its falsehood and improbability, one would have to write volumes. But even if we disregard all this and examine only the given product along with its activity, this seems to me enough to make the objective lunacy of this institution dawn on even the naïvest mind."

Does this sequence of events sound logical?

1. Melania Trump liked Michelle Obama's speech so much that she read passages to a professional writer.

2. Somehow, the professional writer added those passages practically verbatim to the speech, even though Mrs. Trump had told the writer that the words came from Michelle Obama's speech.

3. When Melania Trump read the speech, she didn't recognize Michelle's Obama's words, even though Melania had admired those words so much.

Neither #2 nor #3 makes logical sense.

Reparations? You done got your reparations already. In the blood of a half million young, White, American men. In the mutilation of millions more, including my great uncle. In the political and economic devastation of the South for 50 years. In the purposeful starvation of innocent White women and children. In the subjection, outside the recourse to Law, of tens of thousands of Southern White women to rape and assault at hands both black and White.

And you got your damn reparations in the form of trillions of dollars in free money, free food, free housing, free medical care, free phones, free internet, free booze, free drugs, free everything, paid for by millions of Whites who never themselves owned a slave, most of whom weren't even descended from anyone who had ever owned a slave.

When those debts are paid, you can ask about reparations.

The Apprentice should be required viewing for anybody wanting to understand Trumpology.

Indeed, it's 'reality' TV etc. etc. but I don't believe you can play yourself on television for hundreds of hours without *something* of your real personality showing through.

Trump's razor sharp, has a mischievous sense of humour, and hates bullshit.

He's also one of the most American people I've ever seen. Like John Wayne or Ronald Reagan, you couldn't imagine him as anything other than an American. Just as Nigel Farage couldn't be anything other than English. The essence would be lost in translation.

I get the sense that elite Americans secretly (or not so secretly) despise their own countrymen. The gun-toting bitter clingers or the 47% Obama and Romney spoke of.

Trump is, I think, a genuine patriot. Though he's a master of bombastic bullshit, there's a simple sincerity to his Americanism that would be impossible to fake. He wouldn't be out of place enjoying a hot dog at a baseball game or cheering at a monster truck rally.

I don't think the same applies to Hillary Clinton, Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, Barack Obama etc. It'd be awkward and phony.

My theory of politics is that people vote for people. That's why I've been convinced for a while now that Trump will win.

Unfortunately, that's incorrect. Congress has made certain agencies independent of any branch such that those agents cannot be fired by the President without an act of Congress.

See http://www.casebriefsummary.com/humphreys-executor-v-united-states/ for the overview and the article linked in https://www.ftc.gov/public-statements/2009/09/thoughts-ftcs-relationship-constitutional-and-otherwise-legislative for more thorough information on the FTC challenges.

Most interestingly, Scalia referred to the problem as creating a "headless fourth branch." I hope that Trump addresses these kinds of agencies with Congress after he takes care of the more important immigration and borders problems.

In the spring of 1863, John N. Williams of the 7th Tennessee Regiment wrote in his diary, “Heard from home. The Yankees has been through there. Seem to be their object to commit rape on every Negro woman they can find.” Many times, troops and ruffians raped black women while forcing white women to watch, a horrifying experience for all, and a proxy rape of white women. B. E. Harrison of Leesburg, Va., wrote a letter to President Abraham Lincoln complaining that federal troops had raped his “servant girl” in the presence of his wife. Gen. William Dwight reported, “Negro women were ravished in the presence of white women and children.”

True. I was reading a book of slave narratives recently, interesting historical perspective. And almost universally the slaves talk about the arrival of the union army with being met by some measure of distrust. Even the ones who were quite unhappy in their situation were still pretty unsure if that was necessarily a good thing, or just another white man to be concerned about. Hell many who were happy with their master's seemed to note with distaste how the yankees made sure to humble the masters, making them serve at the table etc. Several told of being treated with basically indifference by the Army once they were freed by them, like they didn't particularly care where they went from there.

I sorta wondered if the ones that spoke glowingly of their master's kindness were engaging in nostalgia, but several seemed generally sad to see their master's misfortune after the war.

That's a good boy, Teddy. Well done.

@159 - yeah but I meant today, when blacks are whining about slavery, Lincoln gets some credit but never the Union soldier. prob because it easier to pretend only one white man ever did anything for them, instead of half a million.

You're joking right? After demonstrating and saying the Trump is unqualified and unfit to be president, after being called "lying ted", only an unprincipled fool would endorse Trump.

So, either they didn't vet Cruz's speech, Cruz said something else, or they did vet it and decided to let the spotlight and news cycle go to cruz.

If it's the first or last, then the Trump campaign demonstrated again that they are incompetent losers.

Cruz was in a no-win situation. Things got so personal between him and Trump -- or more accurately, between their supporters -- that endorsing Trump would have really angered his supporters. They're already disappointed that he didn't lead the revolt they were hoping for. On the other hand, he needs to speak at the convention to stay relevant for next time. So he tried to thread the needle by speaking but not endorsing.

I think it's another miscalculation, and will be seen as a cheap jerk move, but we'll see.

And? Cruz is unprincipled. He's born in Canada, knows he's ineligible for POTUS and still went forward with his stupid farce of a candidacy.

Anyway, so now his political career is over.

Not even. They pretended to. Mostly they were titillated by stories of rape, interracial sex (D/s or Mandingo style), and intoxicated with their own moral superiority. The Blacks were a prop to their fantasies.

Not everybody, of course. My relatives in the war were veterans of the various rebellions in Ireland. They were fighting for freedom. Then, they had never really had to deal with Blacks. And after the war, they were able to go back to Michigan and Nebraska. You will note that both were mostly howling wildernesses at the time, which tended to discourage Black settlement.

So for them, it wasn't hard to make believe about Blacks. Nobody has that excuse now.

And the Union soldiers only raped the Blacks because for most of the war rape of White women was strictly outlawed and severely punished. Blacks? Well, not many from the North cared one way or the other.

Actually, Donald Trump showed he didn't know how to throw a punch when he needs to. He should have shut Cruz out of the convention. Another in a long line of Trump throwing up is hands and declaring bankruptsy.

And it was brilliant needle threading by Cruz. The "vote your conscience" line without endorse served those that still support him and those who want to support the candidate.

Have you seen the polls in the swing states?

Trump is the guy who go the smallest percent of GOP Votes for a winner of any candidate since the 60s. He's the candidate who's opponents got more votes at the convention in decades. He can't get GOP governors, senators and House members to endorse him. He polls at zero with blacks. He'll get far fewer hispanic votes. He's the least likeable presidential candidate in decades. He's going to lose the white woman vote.

Please don't shovel shit and call it daisies.

Jesus, no wonder the cucks are clueless. They are literally incapable of seeing past their pet ideologies to what's going on in the actual world. Trumpist Americanism is the Republican party now. Ingot9455 is right. Cruz could have had a massive standing ovation and an important seat at the table once President Trump takes office. But he couldn't get passed his own ego. So now he's finished. Story of the cucks.

Blogger LurkingPuppy July 21, 2016 12:21 AM

And since this is now unofficially the official RNC discussion thread for tonight, Cruz paid lip service to freedom of religion, but in the next sentence embraced freedom of buggery too. He never made his position on freedom of bakery and non-bakery explicit. I wonder why.

In a general election, the one former opponent Trump would want to disrespect him openly would be Cruz because he's universally hated. The media will bang this story because they think it distracts from the convention's message, but it really is a message in its own right. As far as Cruz's future, he probably didn't have one anyhow so he rolled the dice. Adios.
