@1 Thank you for explaining that so I didn't have to ;) How 'bout this one, Redskins clinch if: 1) WAS win + GB-DET game does not end in a tie I'm not surprised the GB-DET game got ''flexed'' to SNF, it's pretty much a playoff game now. If the Redskins win (and see above) the winner is NFC North champ - and the loser is out completely. The Vikes finish off with the Teddy Bears - and they're beating the stuffing out of them. Which means they at least end 8-8. All together now: ''maybe next season!'' I'm actually gonna say it: I feel sorry for the Raiders, that Derek Carr broken leg really hurt. If they lose to the Broncos and the Chiefs beat the Chargers (both quite possible) they lose their first round bye - and likely their first playoff game in years as well.
I love the tie scenario for Lions-GB from a pure game theory scenario. OT is sudden death on a TD...so...the mutual benefit of secured playoffs (tie) is outweighed by the lack of trust that the other team would honor the bargain.

My Steelers won in OT. Whew. It's been a hell of a season, one of the most interesting in recent memory. Here's hoping the playoffs are equally interesting.
The good news for the Redskins is that they'll finish 8-7-1. Which is a hell of a lot better than the 6-10 they normally have delivered the last 25 years. They're getting well as a franchise...finally.
Nate, congrats on the Tide winning. Looked like the Dawgs were going to make a game of it for a while, but, no dice. Couldn't stop that kid with the name that sounds like a city Springsteen would write a song about.

Can't hang this one on Cousins. I think the coaches were more of a problem today than he was. Stuff happens when you try to extend the play, and sometimes it's bad.

Now we'll see if they screw it up in the off-season by trying to play hardball with Cousins. A large part of their fan base would like them to, because RGIII.
I'm starting to get genuinely excited about the Chiefs. The defense has looked weak at times, but they're very opportunistic, #1 in takeaways in the league. Kelce has been excellent this year, Hill is a threat to score every time he touches it, and if they protect Smith, he hits his guys and has been going deeper than ever before.
#20 [with a nod to Nate] I watched both the Alabama game and the Clemson game. Alabama started sputtering half thru the second quarter and never stopped. They did win. It was not pretty. Their freshman QB is allowed to run too much and has not got enough passing experience. Or, experience in general. Get me wrong, not. I see him as a great QB by his junior year and a very good pro prospect. Time will tell. Now: Clemson. They handed Ohio its butt. 31 to nothing, I remember. They looked very sharp and their QB was passing very well. If they can keep this level up against Alabama and Sabin isn't able to get the Tide in gear, I would say Clemson wins it all.
Falcons were very sharp first half and part of second, then got a bit stale. Falcons. First 5 plays, 5 first downs, 143 yards, 2 TD's. Hard to get much better.
@38: I hope not. Cousins is the first decent QB the Redskins have had in decades.
Pro tip: NEVER draft a Heisman winner. They never deliver the play you pay them for. The NFL doesn't have the wide spread in player talent that allows a run-and-throw college QB to survive.

Y'all know a little something about blowing out Clemson in a bowl game, too. *sighs*
You're right, though, The Big10, as a conference and Ohio State as a program, are consistently overrated. Clemson beats Bama anyway. This time last year, Clemson was as good as, if not slightly better than Bama. (It took a trick play to beat us.) We're better this year and Bama has slipped a bit on offense.

The Raider's 3rd string QB (Cook? Coop?) is giving me hope. He didn't suk. The D sure got exposed by the Bronco's tho' and O-Line 2nd stringers are hanging on for dear life.
The stars seem to have aligned for a Cowboys/Patriots SB, but playoffs have produced many surprises in the almost 50 years I've been paying attention to them. For examply, the 15-1 98 Vikings loosing in the first round of the playoffs, or the Wild Card 80' Raiders winning the SB.

Rooting for the Lions tonight - spite is all that is left....
@1 you left out one scenario: Packers & Lions cannot end in a tie.
If the Packers/Lions end in a tie they make the playoffs and the Redskins/Bucs are both out.
Now if they could get away with it, the smart play would be for the Packers and Lions to play for the tie.
@1 Thank you for explaining that so I didn't have to ;)

Of course they flexed Packers/Lions. It's the only game that decides a division; the loser goes home (assuming no tie) and it's a division rivalry.
It's exactly the scenario the league hoped for when they made all the matchups interdivisional in the last week (or two weeks?) schedule.
YIH, no offense, but fuck the Raiders. They have enough bad karma around organization to doom them for another ten years.

TB's loss to the Saints a week ago was atrocious and that 1-3 start was a deep hole to dig out of.
Three years ago the Eagles went 10-6 and didn't make the playoffs.
All the Redskins have to do is win and get in and they're losing at home by 10 to the Giants.
Look out for the Steelers they've quietly won 7 in row.
Steelers are a quality club. They play the game like men, not boys.

Kirk Cousins is the anti-Aaron Rodgers.
Instead of keeping the play alive until he can make a spectacular play, Cousins keeps the play alive in order to screw up spectacularly.
