AIPAC vs 1st Amendment

In case you didn't believe that immigrants have never, ever, understood literally the first goddamn thing about the Rights of Englishmen or the U.S. Constitution. Note that limiting the 1st Amendment rights of Americans is AIPAC's top legislative priority for 2017. Everything below is straight from Congress.gov.

S.720 - Israel Anti-Boycott Act
115th Congress (2017-2018)

Sponsor: Sen. Cardin, Benjamin L. [D-MD] (Introduced 03/23/2017)
Committees: Senate - Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs
Latest Action: 03/23/2017 Read twice and referred to the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs.

This bill declares that Congress: (1) opposes the United Nations Human Rights Council resolution of March 24, 2016, which urges countries to pressure companies to divest from, or break contracts with, Israel; and (2) encourages full implementation of the United States-Israel Strategic Partnership Act of 2014 through enhanced, governmentwide, coordinated U.S.-Israel scientific and technological cooperation in civilian areas.

The bill amends the Export Administration Act of 1979 to declare that it shall be U.S. policy to oppose:
  • requests by foreign countries to impose restrictive practices or boycotts against other countries friendly to the United States or against U.S. persons; and
  • restrictive trade practices or boycotts fostered or imposed by an international governmental organization, or requests to impose such practices or boycotts, against Israel.
The bill prohibits U.S. persons engaged in interstate or foreign commerce from:
  • requesting the imposition of any boycott by a foreign country against a country which is friendly to the United States; or
  • supporting any boycott fostered or imposed by an international organization, or requesting imposition of any such boycott, against Israel.
The bill amends the Export-Import Bank Act of 1945 to include as a reason for the Export-Import Bank to deny credit applications for the export of goods and services between the United States and foreign countries, opposition to policies and actions that are politically motivated and are intended to penalize or otherwise limit commercial relations specifically with citizens or residents of Israel, entities organized under the laws of Israel, or the Government of Israel.

Blogger Cloudbuster July 22, 2017 9:22 PM

Sen. Portman, I am very disappointed in your sponsorship of this act.

Regardless of how one feels about boycotts of Israel or anyone, this act is clearly unconstitutional. Particularly this section:

"The bill prohibits U.S. persons engaged in interstate or foreign commerce from:
requesting the imposition of any boycott by a foreign country against a country which is friendly to the United States; or
supporting any boycott fostered or imposed by an international organization, or requesting imposition of any such boycott, against Israel."

The federal government does not have any grant of power that authorizes it to violate my free speech and free association rights to request, support or engage in any boycott, for any reason.

It is a clear misreading of the commerce clause to suppose that it can be used to force me to engage in commerce, or to speak against engaging in any type of commerce.

Blogger Vikki Wilson July 22, 2017 9:30 PM

I certainly loath the BDS Islamist-Left front. I have seen how young Jews at university have to make it very clear they are leading lights in the movement to destroy Israel in order to be left alone by the bullies.
But legislating political opinions is no reason to overturn the foundational liberties of the West.

Grotesque and counter-productive activity by self-appointed Official Jews that will simply benefit their civilizational enemies...as has been demonstrated multiple times in Europe where they have achieved these aims.

I'm sure they are quite happy to argue that since no-one is forced (by law or absolute necessity) to engage in international or interstate commerce*, the ability to do so is a privilege, in exchange for which it is reasonable to require that those granted that privilege refrain from exercising their rights in an unapproved manner.

Just as the argument is made that those who choose to fly (or choose to work for an employer who requires them to fly) relinquish their right not to be searched.

* Whether, as a practical matter, a person is actually able to avoid all interstate commerce without (a) breaking some other law or (b) starving or freezing to death in short order, I leave as an exercise for the reader.

War is not a legal requirement for treasonous involvement or action.

see: Ethel Rosenberg

not that i'm against declaring War on Israel, mind you. that would be a great way force all the dual nationals out of Congress and the government and the Federal Reserve.

it would end US jizya payments to Israel.

and it would give us the chance to seize all Jewish owned property in the United States.

i mean, hey, what's good for the US to do to German companies ( Bayer, as a fer instance ) has to be good for the Jew, right?

It's nice that they define the Republican Party as ‘the Party of Lincoln’. They really make it clear that the Republican Party was founded on a fixed core set of principles, and has never ever ever been defined by loyalty to one man.

People don't understand the U.S. relationship with Israel and constantly mistake it as religious. For two thousand years Israel ceased to exist. The the West has an industrial revolution, followed by the discovery of mid-east oil. This is why Israel returned from the dead. Israel is the bouncer for Western oil interests. The day after mid-east oil runs dry, Israel will be cut loose and left to defend against her enemies alone.

@74 Barnhardt's latest does a pretty good job of explaining how the squid yanks the chain. The podcast also explains how the (((banksteins))) who issue orders to step-n-fetchits like Merkel and the others in Brussels will be forcing the Italians to quarter the invasion force in their own homes if push comes to shove.

She makes all the good points again. Being in debt is synonymous with being owned. All of the Western nations are in huge debt... hence they're all owned. And owned by who?

Just as the bank who owns your mortgage has you on a leash (lest you face financial ruin), the West answers to the global central bankers. None of these prime ministers or presidents in Europe actually want to bring in this invading force of savages to rape their women and ruin their nations, but they're being forced to. Leftism is not driving this.

The only remaining question is why the (((central banks))) want this violent mob of Africans and Arabs imported into Europe. And I don't think it's just White Genocide, or wanting a controllable, low-IQ population. There is something else they're preparing for. It's leverage for something.

Nobody in the West is a free person.

@125 johnc

There's a few things going on, some of them are opaque enough to even the people involved that it's hard to nail it all down.

1) Elites aren't monolith. They've been in a rolling influence "war" since 2008 GFC. (Bankers screwed over other Elites pretty hard.)
2) The actual European & American parts of the Global Elites are all dyed-in-the-wool Leftists.
3) They've also had children late in life (or none) and most of them aren't that good at the Game.
4) They've brought in Arabs & Indians into the Elite Club. They aren't as smart and their interests don't align as well.

Pretty much we have a set of elites that are full-scale Leftists and getting less competent day by day. That's the real rub. So the support of the invasion of Europe is really about specific interests wanting it for "religious" reasons. The Kalergi Plan is as much a religious item as an ideological goal. These people have rejected any pretense of Christianity, so I've had to place something else as their religion.

The other rub is the Federal Reserve. Not only is it central within the CB network, but it now outright controls the rest of the banks. Oh, and look who's going to get to appoint a new Fed Chair soon? :) That's dictating a lot of their actions, as their Grand Strategists are all dead and they'd never listen to anyone that isn't a religious zealot like they are. At the same time, they don't want to lose power or control.

They're blind to their own weaknesses and it's being exploited against them. They're attempting to buy influence & power by a lot of their actions, but they've killed off their own JV teams in the process. The Elites are *not* as smart as people make them out to be. They just simply understand the Power Games with far more experience.

Treason is the one crime that is explicitly defined in the Constitution, and it is the one crime that has the prosecutorial standard explicitly defined in the Constitution. It requires either confession in open court, or two witnesses to the same overt act.

In cases of espionage, that is well-nigh impossible to achieve. Espionage, by its nature, is a very solitary crime. So, no, Pollard would not have been

The point is, getting all huffy and puffy about espionage is, at best, silly. We spy on everybody, including our allies. All of our allies spy on everybody, including us. The intelligence officer's motto: "In God We Trust, Everyone Else We Watch--well, actually, we don't trust God, either, so we're keeping an eye on Him, too."

Oil is cheaper, and America no longer depends on the Middle East for its supply

That is true, but then securing American oil supply was not the issue. The real reason is support for the US Petrodollar. If everyone has to purchase mideast oil in US dollars, it creates a demand for US Dollars that the treasury can just print. If a middle east country or ruler decides it wants to accept other currencies for its oil, well . . . nice cushy dictatorship you got there, sure would be a shame if something were to happen to it.
