Best. Timeline. Ever.

I suddenly have an image of the God-Emperor and his new Voice raising kitsune while rocking out to Akatsuki in the Oval Office. Glorious doesn't even begin to describe it.

I'd much rather have my leaders in charge have questionable taste in music than corruption and inappropriate contact with children.

And Babymetal isn't questionable taste. It's just not vanilla.

The real best timeline is still the one with a cooperative Congress, Hillary has to wear a colostomy bag, and the Wall is 35% complete. We had to close the portals to the worst timelines where she won due to dangerous levels of radiation.

Mooch likes Baby Metal?

Uhhhhhh

Blogger Nate July 31, 2017 11:27 AM

Mooch likes babymetal.

Yankee Gun Grabbing Heroine Addicts appreciate great music.

I did not know that. Now I do.

You like Baby Metal??

I feel like Kevin McCarthy now.

I don't know which to be more alarmed over.
That Scaramucci follows Babymetal
or that Babymetal follows Scaramucci AND Vox.

USA Babymetal tour for the 2020 campaign?

Can't speak about Mooch... but I am not even remotely surprised that the japanese appreciate those who appreciate nationalism.

I wouldn't say I'm surprised. Just alarmed.

Being somewhat proud of my European heritage, I always considered that the music of Bach, Beethoven, and all those dead white guys was the best music humanity could aspire to.

But all of that will be shattered when they release the hit single "Sinku The Boatsu."

Babymetal is alright, but, speaking of dead white guys, they don't stack up to American cool with feeling.

Slightly OT: According to the NYT, Mooch now out as communications director, per GEN Kelly's request.

Not for nothing, the last thing you want to do is piss off a Marine general, even if he is retired. Marines go for the kill without hesitation, regardless of whether it's a grunt or a general officer. Mooch would have been hung outside the windows of the Brady room...as a warning.

Something tells me that Mooch was just a smokescreen. And he played his part beautifully.

I just made almost this exact comment to a coworker. I think he was brought in just to bring down Priebus. I'm willing to bet money that neither Mooch nor Trump ever expected him to be there more than two weeks.

If so, there'll be something in it for him. He's not one of Bane's henchmen, he'll be expecting some sort of parachute.

Alternatively President Trump just didn't like the cut of his jib after he took the job. Before becoming Charlemagne Redux, the GE was best known for firing people who didn't perform.

Blogger Were-Puppy July 31, 2017 8:17 PM

He performed pretty decent taking out Spicer and Rinse Pubis, plus some other lesser whiner that I can't remember the name of.

That he was, Mooch was brought in to rinse the Priebus and get no dirt on the GE doing it. Performed it perfectly. The Bannon thing was just for show, obviously. Still Deep State doesn't even realize they got outsmarted. Don't leak on the GE.

Blogger Ken Prescott July 31, 2017 8:52 PM

Apparently he lied on his resume about doing the fandango.

Blogger peter blandings July 31, 2017 9:53 PM

sycophants make the best pallbearers. just keep spinning screw ups as brilliant 4Dchess moves and you'll be hoist upon your own petard. you're not doing trump any favors by grovelling. bubble boys always pick out the emperor's new close. good luck with that.

Anonymous Pitcrew July 31, 2017 10:04 PM

Why do you think it was a screw up hiring Scaramucci? If somebody is leaking or wiretapping or bugging the WH and deep state-corporate and Preibus are doing it or covering for it you don't think that doesn't require some high-IQ roundabout moves? I think Bannon had to play Priebus- and needed cover doing it. Either way, mooch is gone, and the important people (GE, Kelly, Bannon) have no Priebus on them. Mooch was a cleaner, and the deep state has been warned not to f*** with the administrations plans.

the God Emperor says crazy crap all the time. he's somewhat notorious for it.

you could say that Scaramucci was just trying to live up to Trump's example.

the critical difference is this:
it's the responsibility of the underling to defend the Big Boss's actions and statements.

when the Big Boss has to start spending time defending the actions and statements of his underling?

yeah, that's typically not going to go on very long unless you're talking about a Superlative Performer.

i do like the reports that Pubis is supposed to have resigned, that's hilarious.

Mooch is brought in to eject Rancid ... and Rancid is such a cowardly little bitch that he cut his OWN throat rather than deal with an entire week of Mooch scowling at him?

hilarious.

typical boardroom maneuvering, too. you've got a highly placed exec that would be difficult to get rid of for political reasons, make the work environment so uncomfortable he doesn't want to stay.

voila. it's like magic.

Marty Friedmans take on the Japanese music scene. He didn't mention BabyMetal but this was from 2013.

Considering that you’ve now had an extensive career both in the U.S. and Japan, I was wondering if you could describe the differences between the U.S. and Japanese music scenes. — Mathias Togsverd

The biggest one is the absence of gangster rap here in Japan. When rap happens here the lyrical messages are very positive and uplifting. Another thing is that music here is a whole lot more melody based than that in America. America seems to be really focused on the American Idol way of singing, which is singing half the song regularly, and then singing the rest like Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey or Kelly Clarkson. It’s all about strong women screaming. In Japan, it’s more like, “You can never be too cute or happy.” It’s so sickeningly sweet that it can give you a toothache, but if you can dig that, then you’ll be in paradise.

One last difference is that in Japan you can have sickeningly sweet pop music chock full of very cool guitar. I love that. In America, if there’s ever guitar in pop music it’s usually throwaway bullshit guitar. But over here, people tend to like the sound of a distorted guitar even if they’re not a heavy metal or rock fan. In Japan, a distorted guitar fits in adult-oriented traditional music, dance music and even pop songs. It’s really a trip.

What artists would you suggest for someone who's just getting into J-Pop. — Anna McPherson

There are too many to list, but I'll give suggestions on both ends of the spectrum. If you like amazing pop music I would start with the girl groups Perfume and AKB48. Or better yet check out Momoiro Clover Zl I played guitar on their most recent single. None of those are heavy rock music, but if you're indo that, I'd suggest Maximum the Hormone. They're an awesome band and will totally blow your mind.
