Dr. Who converged

In a rare and totally not-at-all expected twist, the Thirteenth Doctor is a gay black woman!
Broadchurch star Jodie Whittaker is to be the first ever woman to play Doctor Who, it has been announced. The identity of the new Doctor was revealed on BBC One and on social media around the world after the Men's Wimbledon Final today.

She will be the Thirteenth Time Lord and take over from Peter Capaldi who leaves the global hit show at Christmas.

New head writer and executive producer Chris Chibnall who takes over from Steven Moffat on the next series made the decision to cast the first ever woman in the iconic role.

Jodie Whittaker says: 'I'm beyond excited to begin this epic journey - with Chris and with every Whovian on this planet. It's more than an honour to play the Doctor.  'It means remembering everyone I used to be, while stepping forward to embrace everything the Doctor stands for: hope. I can't wait.'

Chris Chibnall, New Head Writer and Executive Producer said: 'After months of lists, conversations, auditions, recalls, and a lot of secret-keeping, we're excited to welcome Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor. I always knew I wanted the Thirteenth Doctor to be a woman and we're thrilled to have secured our number one choice.
It's got to be a little difficult to fake much enthusiasm for doing what every other SJW in entertainment has already been doing for the last 10 years. Personally, I look forward to the inevitable reboot when the initial fake audience generated by the SJW attention  inevitably drifts away and everyone realizes that the traditional viewership has declined.

Now, personally, I don't give a damn about Doctor Who. I haven't watched it since I was in junior high and Tom Baker was the Doctor, and even then I thought it was pretty lame. And the actress is attractive, considerably more attractive than most of the past companions. But that's all irrelevant, and the casting decision is chiefly noteworthy in that it signifies that absolutely nothing, no matter how classic or beloved, is safe from SJWs. We know we have reached Peak SJW when Heidi is remade, with the blonde Swiss girl played by a gay black transgendered Muslim.

@2 Because in the 1970's/1980's it was cool, innovative, unique. It had an intellectual fantasy hero who always won and didn't use guns and only a little punching at times. But now they've ground everything of that fun away and it's paint by numbers if that.

C'mon guys give it a chance. John of Arc worked well in France.

Idris Elba should be the next James Bond. My television set keeps telling me he is so sexy.

I wonder if they'll get Mickey or Danny Pink back as the companion. It can still get worse on Doctor Mary Sue!

@2

At one point, he was a morally-ambiguous demigod, so it was interesting to see how he interacted with the humans.

In the 2006-ish relaunch, one cannot underestimate the humor angle that was Billy Piper's character. She was trampy but she also was comedically incomprehensible. The first season was pretty good as a continuation of what aired on PBS in the US in the 1970s and 1980s.

Beyond that first season on the reboot, you can tell that they hired a gaggle of gay writers, so that the Irish girl forces her husband to publically take her name and declare her to be in charge of the relationship at their wedding, and then the Doctor became their definition of a god, worshipped by all peoples, everywhere. They also began lionizing female fecundity in a way that only gay men who want to be women can.

It went off the wagon pretty fast because the Doctor stopped being fallible, and then, there was all the odd yearnings of gay men to be women and actually bring forth children. They had a Christmas special which culminated with the Doctor declaring that "men are weak because they can't have children".

@2 Kreator

The old stuff is classic and, for a good chunk, pretty good. "New Who" was the BBC's first really big hit in a while that wasn't a comedy. It also was about the only decent Sci-Fi consistently on TV. The Internet age (i.e. Torrents) meant pretty much everyone could watch it.

The problem is that the stories are self-contained, so a season can be really hit or miss. And the Doctor is a compelling character when you have him with good writers.

There is an important, related aspect though: Dr. Who has been a big pusher of whatever Progressive line is common since at least the 2nd Doctor. I still don't know why they decided to make the Doctor a Woman, as any male companions are going to have to be beaten down to not show her up.

I believe the most recent season has had pretty bad ratings, as well. So this should go poorly.

I knew this would happen, after they had the Master return as Missy. Ugh, not content with destroying Star Wars, they've now destroyed Dr. Who. I hate these people for what they've done and continue to do. Ever since Russel Turd Davis took control and was pushing the gay crap, I've hated the show more and more as the years went by. I actually watched the 50th anniversary, and found it galling that other than Tom Baker, they couldn't be bothered to include any of the other classic Doctors, even in a cameo in the background. As far as I'm concerned, Dr. Who ended in 1989 with Sylvester McCoy in the role. May it all burn down to ashes.

Blogger Leandro Novaes July 16, 2017 12:12 PM

Dr. Who must be watched to be understood. However, I strongly suggest that you don't start by watching Peter Capaldi's Doctor.

You should start with the reboot and Chris Eccleston. It's actually pretty decent.

Dr. Who is important for the same reasons most things from the 60's that are still around today are. They were groundbreaking at the time and became an influence on almost everything related to them.

Well, a woman taking the role won't necessarily be bad. Just as it won't necessarily be GOOD. Given that I don't know anything about this specific actress, no idea if she'll be good in the role either.

Though technically she's not the first female doctor. There was the one in the comedy sketch.

I wonder if the 13th Doctor will end up being unlucky.

Doctor who is the wizard, not the superhero, warrior or boyfriend. If I wanted James Bond, John McClain or the sparkly vampire from twilight I'd watch those shows.

It's gone off the rails for years. Not even suitable for watching with my grandkids. "Married" lesbian human dinosaur couple, how does that even remotely sound wholesome or decent? That doesn't even scratch the surface of the depravity or the dysfunction of the series. I haven't watched it in long years but occasionally I'll catch up when friends are over around the holidays. Next they'll remake Camelot with a black Guinevere.

The writing has definitely gotten bad to the point of obnoxiously unwatchable in its latest, lensflarey, overly CGI'ed, super gay incarnation but it was never good.

Star Trek rightly gets criticised for its spacial anomaly of the week stories and technobabble solutions, but at least it pays lip service to actual science and logic.

A typical Doctor Who story is just lazily written nonsense with lots of mugging at the camera and a deus ex machina ending that would embarrass a monkey at a typewriter.

I wonder if American audiences are slightly slower to notice its retardation because the British accents throw them off.

It's always been a converged virtue signal fest. I liked some of the first couple years of the reboot but in the Matt Smith era they seemed to just push social agenda at every turn. Had to stop watching with the kids at that point, never looked back because as an adult, it's pretty poorly done and not that interesting. There's more to it beyond that, but it's beyond over now.

A rant about this I put up elsewhere....

I see a few perfectly understandable reactions here as to why anyone would care about the selection of the new Dr. Unfortunately it's part of a wider culture war that we are - or will be - all subject to. If it hasn't happened already, sooner or later it will - the SJWs will arrive and put the boot into something you actually love.

Dr. Who in it's original run (pre the full SJW takeover of the BBC) was often dark, challenging sci-fi. The latter a crucial component in much of the best sci-fi ever written or filmed.

Dr. Diversity Quota by contrast is a vehicle for SJW style neuroses and visions of how the world is and how it should be. It's neither challenging or dark. It can't be either because it would "offend" too many people and the only dark aspect of it is that it, for sometime, has been part of the SJW culture mainstream that is perpetually forced on us day in, day out.

The fact is that, as many have argued, politics is downstream from culture. If we lose the culture war, the politics inevitably follows.

For me as a sci-fi/fantasy, comic, gaming and general geek culture fan since childhood it is tremendously embittering. So many of us just wanted to be left alone to play our games and engage in wonderful escapisim with sci-fi and fantasy stories.

But they wouldn't leave us alone.

Escapism is no longer allowed. You must consume the mores of the SJWs orcs if you are to consume at all. Most of all, if you're straight, white, and male, you're no longer permitted to enjoy characters and milieus that appeal directly to you and inspire you.

You may sit there and shrug and say you don't care. But it's another fence-post put up that will help to constrain and control our - and eventually your - free expression.

I suppose that I am the only person reading here who saw the first episode which was repeated the following week the reason for that being that your President had been shot dead on the day of the launch. In those days Bill Hartnell played the grumpy and slightly creepy Doctor, the lovely Carol Ann Ford his niece (or so the Doctor said for he seemed to have imprisoned her inside a disused Police Box situate in a Junk-yard) and two teachers from the local Secondary Mod also got involved.

Turning the Doctor into a black lesbian comes from the same school of revisionism that removes the busts of the founding fathers from the entrance to King's College University of London.

I dream of taking the BBC Governors outside along with all their Producers and lining them up against Broadcasting House and shooting them one-by-one for crimes against Great Britain. Meanwhile I laugh at their anti-white, anti-male anti-hetero posing for they do it all the time on their only channel that I imbibe - The Third Programme.

Dr Who went downhill long ago. The slide started in the Tom Baker years, and was confirmed when the replaced the Doctor with a Vet. It went from the series where one went in search of a TV on a Saturday afternoon (especially in the days of rolling blackouts) to not missed in the slightest, with poor writing, and irritating anti-Thatcher elements.

I'm surprised she's not also gay and black. Give them time, I guess.

There was some good stuff in the first season of the reboot. But I couldn't get into it, because there were also heavy indications of the politics that would emerge as the show continued. The new companion, a white British girl, had to have a black boyfriend, of course, and they had to drag him back into the show later. A new character halfway through the season, who at first seems like a Han Solo type, had to be gay/bi, of course -- and the fan base squeeed predictably. (All fan bases are bad about that, but the Dr. Who fans just luuuuurve them some faggotry.) So I bailed, and it looks like that was the right call.

Makes me think of Firefly. Firefly was excellent, but it's probably a good thing it was cancelled early rather than late. Whedon did a pretty good job of keeping his SJWness out of the show for one season and a movie, but it peeked through here and there. Since I didn't watch it until years later, I was able roll my eyes and let those glimpses go, knowing they wouldn't have a chance to get worse in future seasons. If the show had been successful and gone on for years, you can bet it would have gotten worse.

You should see the TV version, also from Disney. It's painfully bad, like Phantom Menace bad. One of the incomprehensible decisions they made was to portray the Happy Medium -- who in the book was an actual medium, a woman who liked to look at happy things in her crystal ball -- as a hermaphrodite or something. "Medium" between male and female, it's a pun, get it? But the actor was obviously a man, and about as convincingly androgonous as Dennis Rodman in a wedding dress, so it was just creepy.

Sounds like they're trying to replicate that; maybe they're using the same script.

Unlike fantasy offerings like Dr Who and Merlin, period pieces can justifiably cast only white actors. That's one reason they're so popular!

Even so, producers often can't help themselves. On Downton Abbey, a black jazz singer showed up and fell into a romance with Lady Rose.

"Oh, gawd ..." my wife said, when the black character appeared. "We're gonna get a lecture."

We suffered through the next few episodes, the black character was written out, and the show became good again.

@58, @44 Michael Maier: "The original book was downright painful to re-read as an adult."

Man, I thought there was something wrong with me! I dimly remembered reading it as a child, but it left very little impression on me. I clearly remembered all the hoopla surrounding it, though, and how often it showed up on lists of good Christian books recommended for children. When I read it again, I felt bored and faintly insulted that this was supposed to be some doorway to Christianity for children. Ugly characters passed off as eccentrics, eye-rolling scientifictional gobbledygook - I couldn't put it down (fast enough).

I would have been happy for it to die off after Tom Baker.

Nobody is surprised dr who is now female. The reboot was continually pushing the progressive agenda.
Even one doctor helping a gay character pick up a stranger in a bar. In a kids show.

But the rot goes further back. Through the eighties it became completely unwatchable. with minimal budgets and camp acting of no talent guest stars.

The man steering the franchise into the ground was John Nathan turner. He and his gay partner spent their time trawling sci fi conventions looking for fresh meat. "Doable barkers" they referred to them as.
I hope mr Nathan turner could get a mention in any updates of "safe space as rape room"

Doctor Who is the perfect example of the self destructive nature of SJWism.

They had a reasonably winning formula and they pissed it away.

It was a chick show. Young. Hot. Sexy English Doctor Who is what made them major bank.

The lonely, noble hero who is the last of his kind, drove emo chicks nuts.

It was also a romance show. The forbidden love between the Doctor and Rose worked for them because the chicks watching the show identified with Rose.

They started to try that again with the Doctor and Amy but then very wisely switched her affections to Rory. And that also worked.

And then Steven Moffat completely lost his fast ball as a show runner. Young, sexy English Doctor Who was replaced with a middle aged Scottish Doctor who becaaaause...Moffat is middle aged and Scottish.

The ratings absolutely crashed.

Then they went hardcore SJW. This year's companion WAS a black lesbian. Bill the Black Lesbian. She made friends with a Black Victorian English Solider aaaand a Black Gay Roman Legionnaire.

And the funny part is that it does work as entertainment for an Alt Righter. Pop a couple of beers with friends and start riffing the hell out of it.

It's like watching MST3k with your friends again because it's that freaking bad.

Anonymous Alice De Goon July 16, 2017 3:51 PM

Tom Baker is still my favorite version of Doctor Who, mainly because he acts like an actual alien, - someone whose intellect and powers place a barrier between him and the humans he interacts with. In true Gamma fashion, the Doctor of that era spent most of his time taking down galactic bullies, but unlike most human gammas, at least he had the goods and could deliver on his promises to save people. The series took a misstep when it cast a couple of younger, conventionally handsome actors for the role, but it seemed to be getting back into the "The Doctor is a weird alien whose actions are sometimes incomprehensible to us" mode when Sylvester McCoy took the role.

I refused to watch any of the Doctor Who reboot once I learned how pozzed it was. The Doctor went from being a weird quirky nerd hero to every fangirl's sparkly, angsty husbando - an object of distinctly sexual fantasy whom every girl could imagine entering her life and sweeping her off of her feet, taking her on magical adventures. He was just so dreeeeamy and perfect!

I think the creators of Doctor Who are going to be in for a rude awakening when they realize that their primarily feminine fanbase doesn't want their beloved Doctor-sempai to become a trans-lesbian. Oh sure, they'll celebrate and cheer for him/her/it like they do for any other shoehorned-in lesbian character, but soon their vaginas will start tingling and they'll have to turn elsewhere for satisfaction.

I never did "get" Doctor Who, in spite of the SF fans I knew (inevitably women) who squeeed over Tom Baker (with his very long scarf). The production values were low, the story lines didn't seem compelling, and I could never suspend enough disbelief to think that the Daleks (for example) were menacing enough to take over anything.
I thought the Eccleston Reboot was well done, as he brought a certain manic energy that drove the show, but there was still nothing there to attract non-fan-persons, even Anglophiles such as myself. The current attraction seems to be the franchise, as the 21st century "reboot" is post-modern referencing to the older Whos-- it's merely referential, rather than a continuation.
Much the same with Star Trek, Star Wars, yadda yadda...
And I don't like post-modernism, nor even post-post-modernism. Now you kids get away from that old antique phone booth!

It will of course be different for Americans but thinking on it - The Doctor being one of the two, British fictional Icons of the 1960s, the other being Bond - to do what is now being proposed is really putting two fingers up to men, wilful cultural vandelism by the BBC as they piss all over their property.

The show's thirty minute segments would be aired usually about 05.15pm on a Saturday afternoon and was most popular with young or pre-teenagers who would hide behind the sofa when Daleks and the like came on screen. If one found that too silly one did have the pleasure of eyeing the parade of mini-skirted companions. The Doctor had authority, and a zest for exploring, quick-witted - naturally male characteristics and never a hint of sexuality. The last Doctor - and I thought him rather good - that I saw was Sylvester McCoy. The 21st Century reboot seemed all wrong - from what I heard.

One day a few years ago on entering my local public library I observed to my surprise Tom Baker sitting in an armchair - he lived close-by. No scarf and looking much older. Actors love to be recognised. The new Doctor-ess is a symbolic example of the accelerating decline of The West.

I still have non-leftist friends who don't think this kind of thing is a clear sign of hatred for white males.

I think the normal person's thought process goes like this: "Well, there are surely girls out there who love the show and wish they could be the Doctor, so why not let them have a character who looks like them for a while? After all, boys have had it all this time, so it's only fair." Same thing with, "There are surely black boys who play-act at being James Bond."

It's the same thinking they use to justify girls in boys' sports, girls serving at the altar, and so on. Their mind goes to some child whose interests are unconventional, and they feel bad that that child might feel left out, so it's okay to inconvenience everyone else in a small way (they think) to prevent that.

It wasn't so bad when it was something they just mixed in now and then. But we know how it goes: the diversity quota is never satisfied until it reaches 100%. That's why virtually all IT guys in TV commercials are now black; it wasn't enough to throw one in 10% of the time (which would probably be ten times the real percentage already). So it won't be enough to give the girls this character for a couple seasons and then go back to a white man. They'll have to give a black guy a turn (maybe an "Asian," considering it's the UK), and then a transsexual, and they'll just pass it around between victim groups, never casting a white man again. Or they would, if the show survived long enough to find out, which it won't.

I enjoyed some of the reboot (I've never seen the original series) through the second doctor. After that it was obvious they were going to get worse and worse in promoting progressive politics over everything else. Say, the lesbian lizard married to a human woman in Victorian London for example.

Really, there are two reasons to enjoy the reboot years, Billie Piper as Rose and the gal who played Clara. Yet, both of their characters were mostly annoying.

She will be the Thirteenth Time Lord and take over from Peter Capaldi who leaves the global hit show at Christmas.

If the show tanks with her they will just say they kept it true to cannon of only 13 regenerations. I wonder if Dr Pussy will still have the niggerette dyke companion? How many cats can fit inside the little blue box? The master became a woman the season before so maybe they will become a catty old dyke couple, . Its a good thing they regenerate given the rate of lesbian domestic violence

I believe the most recent season has had pretty bad ratings, as well. So

I couldn't really bring myself to watch this season or beyond the first episode of the teen DR WHO spin off CLASS that had an alien gay secrete prince with an anti gun message.
It had an intellectual fantasy hero who always won and didn't use guns and only a little punching at times.

I recall an episode where the Doctor was teaching school children how to fire automatic weapons to help him fight a scarecrow type enemy.

Next they'll remake Camelot with a black Guinevere.

Worse a nigdyke Lancealot

Makes me think of Firefly. Firefly was excellent, but it's probably a good thing it was cancelled early rather than late.

Like duck dynasty they realized people liked firefly for all the wrong reasons. "What we had a gun fight at a whore house and people thought it was a message about smaller government" "We had a sacrilegious preacher & people just wrote it off because he was black+ corrupt"

Phase 1: The Initial Media storm (we are here) The show announces the female Doctor & the idea is immediately touted as stunning & brave.

Phase 2: The Manufactured Backlash The same 3 or 4 Tweets from anonymous accounts are used as evidence of a "wide-ranging misogyny problem"

Phase 3: The Virtue Signal The shows creators and BBC will come out in support of the show's new star after the "Horrible online harassment"

Phase 4: The Finger Wagging Online media will feature stories shaming people who argue backlash was manufactured, double down on narrative.

Phase 5: "Mission accomplished" New series will launch with slightly higher ratings than the last one & be hailed as an unrivalled success.

Phase 6: The Slide Doctor Who will continue being as poor as the last series & people's curiosity will ware off. Ratings will decline.

Phase 7: The Denial The BBC & online media will continue to hail the series as the best ever, & smear anyone who dares criticise it openly.

Phase 8: The Cringe The series will make a painful reference to the supposed online harassment & paint its critics as cartoon villains.

Phase 9: Woker than thou The series failure will be blamed on The Doctor being White, or straight, or the series not being political enough.

I don't know if he wants to be a woman, but this sort of uterine worship was screamingly obvious in the work of Clive Barker, and I for one wasn't even slightly surprised to find out he was gay.

Dr. Who has been a big pusher of whatever Progressive line is common since at least the 2nd Doctor.

During the Tom Baker era, they noticed a lot of college students were watching the show, so the production team made a conscious decision to cater to that crowd, and we all know the vapid, socialist proggy idiocy most college students espouse.

What they don't seem to get about that young female audience is that said audience doesn't want to be LIKE the Doctor; they want to be WITH the Doctor. And I doubt the lesbian fanbase is more than 2 or 3 heifers worth.

The problem isn't that there is a female lead character. It is that these people don't create new/original female characters and instead turn iconic and popular male characters into female.

Plus, a strong female doctor who leading around a male sidekick won't be very appealing, imo, compared to the opposite dynamic which works fine.

Blogger seeingsights July 16, 2017 9:15 PM

I agree. Most of the the young female Doctor Who fans I've met are big fans of David Tennant. They generally have a positive attitude toward the two Doctors that came after David Tennant. It is a fantasy of straight women to have an adventurous time with a handsome man. I don't see these female Doctor Who fans having a similar attitude toward a female Doctor Who.

Anonymous Pax_Romana July 16, 2017 9:27 PM

I was introduced to Doctor Who through the David Tennant episode with the creepy demon-possessing alien thingy (I only watched it through once, so I don't remember the name). I was never a "big fan," because it was generally too weird for me, but I thought it was ok. Hated Matt Smith's portrayal; found him annoying. Enjoyed Capaldi because he was an Angry Scotsman, and then stopped watching when The Master became The Mistress.

What had been in the corner of my eye the whole time was suddenly put into the foreground, and I could not avoid how blatantly converged the whole mess had become.

So, yeah, I guess the real surprise isn't that the Doctor is now a tranny, but that it took him this long.

I'd add on another element from the SJW Revisionist playbook, that one of the season finales retconned the entire series, all the way back from the 60s, to say that their rendition of the doctor's female companion was a demigoddess sustainer of his existence. Complete with edited original footage.

@119 This is the second try by Disney to make a film out of the book. The first one was pretty bad. It's almost bad enough that it makes you think they made it to maintain rights to the property.

This one really doesn't look much better. The funny thing is that all of the minorities are get fed up with the inter-racial posturing too. Instapundit keeps posting all of these items about blacks and other minorities talking about how they don't like brown men dating white women, dealing with white people, etc. Supposedly it is to show how racist they are. In actuality, it's simply a normal human reaction.

Maybe now, the Chinese film industry will help out and do a remake of Porgy and Bess, with an All-Chinese cast in blackface. They may need some coaching with the lingo, but the rest of the parts should work fine.
The Chinese could do the singing parts with real conviction...."I Got Plenty of Nothing". Must be Oscar material for the best foreign film, before it is even produced.

Hollywood was a free-wheeling, anti-PC place back in the 70s (or 1968 if you're counting Night of the Living Dead), which was also the greatest decade for film there and around the world. Much as I love Romero, he didn't "break the rules" any more than literally hundreds of movies did that decade.

What really killed that era of freedom and creativity were two things;

1. The disastrous failure of Michael Cimino's Heaven's Gate bankrupting the legendary United Artists, making producers think "Hey, maybe giving talented directors tremendous freedom to make the pictures they want isn't ALWAYS a good idea..."

2. The insane success of Lucas' Star Wars series and Spielberg's Jaws.

Executives realized making popcorn films for teens was massively more profitable than making serious, mature art for adults, a la Friedkin's The French Connection, to use a random example.

We still have the book, Thank God. Funny they waited for L'Engle's death to do this. Wonder why...

I agree, Jed. This "re-imagining" of the classic book broke my heart. L'Engle hated the TV version adaptation and I'm fairly certain she wouldn't be happy with this one, either.

It's become a vehicle for a bi-racial girl's "awakening" to counter her confused identity, putting a spin on the character that was never meant to be.

Some here may not like L'Engle's book, but for many of us, it was our first introduction to sci-fi fiction. I remember reading it as a young girl and being absolutely captivated by it.

But like Dr. Who being "re-imagined" as a woman, I'd like to know why Disney stopped with making Meg a bi-racial girl. Why didn't they switch out her father for a gay black mother?

Oh, but they couldn't do that. They still had to get a token white male actor who has a proven track record at the box office... Of course.

The actress Michelle Rodriguez got in trouble when she said minorities should stop stealing white superheroes. Of course she was attacked for saying something so sacrilegious. Because destroying white superheroes is a religion for these SJW fanatics.

I wish Hollywood would follow the Star Trek model. For Gene Roddenberry's vision, they didn't make another ST series with a woman playing Kirk. Or a black man playing Kirk.

Instead they created "Voyager" and "Deep Space Nine," which had it's own group of fans for each series.

Marvel created "Luke Cage" and I had to admit I enjoyed that series a heckuva lot more than the whinefest "Jessica Jones."

There is so much creativity around us and more opportunities than ever to do something new. But Hollywood insists on trying to "colorwash" books written in 1963 just to validate their SJW fantasy world.

I figure characters like Clytemnestra and Helen are a big part of the reason schools don't teach the classics anymore. The portrayals of women are far too realistic, especially when they're given power.

Anonymous Ham Salad July 17, 2017 9:57 AM

Since only SJW social signalling is now what matters to the show runners, and not the story anymore.

My Prediction: The first companion will be a comic relief character who is a flaming effeminate homo asian guy who always runs around dressed like Elton John, throwing a feather boa in everyone's face, and constantly telling the doctor "you go girlfriend", while every time a man says something saucy to the doctor he makes tiger purring sounds.

Anonymous CarpeOro July 17, 2017 10:23 AM

Who'd of thought that a Rowan Atkinson parody would be turned into the Dr. Who story line? Of course in the parody she goes off with the rejuvenated Master (who was still male). In the parody, the Doctor starts off as a male who had finally slept with a female side kick. In the end the new "Doctor" holds her breasts and says "I've been dying to get my hands on a pair of these". The erstwhile romantic companion says "I haven't". I see the audience giving much the same reaction.

Reboot "Pretty Woman" but change the ending where she betrays his trust, robs him and he ends up learning he contracted multiple venereal diseases while sorting through the wreckage. Reboot "Sex and the City" where the women's lives are shown as miserable and the "vibrant and hip" scenes are shown for the empty hellholes they are. Basically, take every "feel good" leftist fantasy world and give it a gritty demoralizing and accurate portrayal. You get the idea.

Has anyone ever considered taking the piss on their stupid shows that glorify leftist bullshit?

@177

Jed, I understand. The integrity of storylines has been sacrificed upon the altar of diversity. Most of the TV shows make me fume, which is why I'm re-watching old episodes of various series and ignoring the slop that Hollywood is dishing out.

I did watch the first season of Supergirl. Aggravating. Of course they had to pull in a romantic interest for Kara (Supergirl) and to have it be Jimmy Olsen was ridiculous. I mean... James. But then, James is black so that makes it good... Not to mention Lucy Lane (Lois' sister) is black. As the kids say, whatevs.

Dr. Who already has gone into this area from the very first re-boot in 2005. The Doctor's companion, Rose (who was white), had a black boyfriend. I think shows in the U.K. have been more converged than those in the U.S. but I could be wrong.

Another annoying aspect of Dr. Who was the character Captain Jack, who was bi-sexual. Vox was right when he talked about this in his Darkstream yesterday. Everything regressess to the mean for gays and bi-sexuals -- which is sex. Captain Jack flirted with anything that moved, enough to make The Doctor go, "Quit flirting!"

Then there's this.

From the article: One user applauded the move saying: "The lack of women, and lead women, in sci fi is embarrassing. Doctor Who just made a step in the right direction".

Holy Cats... you'd think they never heard of Alien's Ripley. From 1979.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. That goddamned anti-white Commie and his "serious, mature art for adults" can rot in Hell where they belong.

Anonymous Opus July 17, 2017 3:38 PM

I am still fuming and have just watched Vox Day's Darkstream on the matter, which I much appreciated. Although I do not think it quite accurate to suggest that the BBC is funded by the British Government (the funding comes from the licence fee payers of which i am not one as I do not have a television set nor watch the iPlayer) nor that the programme has continued without popular support (it has always been wildly popular - less popular shows bite the dust) Vox makes the most excellent point that it is an attack on white males and thus an attack on the symbols of Western (and thus white though there is no other material type) Civilization.

That the Doctor is supposed to be a Time Lord with all that goes with that is on a certain level irrelevant: the Doctor is recognisable as that sort of middle-aged to elderly Englishman, eccentric and curious about everything but sufficiently old that the young women he befriends are never for him objects of sexual desire. Thus William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton are the model for the role (Peter Cushing an otherwise great actor played the part far too doddery - the Doctor still has his physical body as much as his mind in tact) - not as I take it the forthcoming female will be, some smart-arsed, sassy, in your face condescending bitch. Her companion will perforce be some friend-zoned Mangina but if female will be part of an all-female mutual appreciation society. In short, The Doctor has to be male and does not make sense as female. If female then he has to be a very different character. Tennant (like Cumberbach is as Holmes) was far too young and as such the lack of interest in the women only comes across as Gay. Tom Baker was also essentially too young - in real life he was married to his assistant the Honourable Lalla Ward (now the Honourable Mrs Dawkins).

I also much appreciate Vox's very accurate portrayal of Homosexuals being as far removed from the Media's fawning view of them as can be - at least, I - from the age of thirteen - always found Homosexuals predatory and without self-control.

@184 I'm not trying to defend the queen of evil, but the text in the article says she "strongly implied the new Doctor must be intersectional–a transgender woman of color." She didn't necessarily mean all three attributes must be exhibited in one character. The idea of every "oppressed" category existing in one person or a multitude of people just coincidentally each having one member of every "oppressed" category (think Glee where every oppressed category had one member in the cast). Whether you load one person into five "oppressed" categories or you write five characters, each of a different "oppressed" category, the end result is roughly equally retarded. Whether you have a genderqueer, Wiccan, mixed-race, omnisexual, physically handicapped character or a member of each of the previous all coincidentally comprising a different character in the team, the result is equally nauseating. Anita might wish for a black companion and a transgender companion instead.

Blogger seeingsights July 17, 2017 7:47 PM

Opus, I think you're incorrect about the Doctor played by David Tennant. His character and his companion Rose Tyler had romantic feelings for each other.
And every female Doctor Who fan under the age of 35 that I know are big fans of David Tennant.
Some folks on this blog are not fans of Doctor Who. Fine, that is a matter of taste. But a tv show that has been going on since 1963--with a roughly decade long hiatus--proves that it has mass appeal.
There is a certain type of character in science fiction--a character who uses his high intelligence for the betterment of all--which is highly appealing. Hari Selden is one. Doctor Who is another.
