Preibus is out

Cernovich, Jack Posobiec, and others have reported that the God-Emperor has finally axed the GOP Establishment Chief of Staff. He'll be replaced by General John Kelly.

Let the games begin....

Was Kelly G-whatsherface actually right? That Priebus was the source of several leaks to the press?

Fascinating turn of events. Best timeline indeed.

Reince deserved a break and a chance, he played the RNC election process by the book and fair, unlike his counterparts on the other side of the party (the DNC) who did not play it fair for Bernie.

That said, 6 months was probably double what he deserved.

I see this as TGE tried through Priebus to work with Congress. He reached out and gave them an opportunity to share the success. They rebuffed him. This is the future they chose. We'll also see if the leaks stop now.

I always suspected that Priebus stood by Trump during the primaries because he simply didn't have a reasonable other option.

Then, as chief of staff he showed his true colors.

Good riddance.

Prosecute Preibus for leaking and send him to prison Scooty Libby style.

Maybe the GOP cucks will get in line. If not, at least it'll be entertaining.

I still think TGE should declare a national emergency and assume the endless FEMA powers and just be a dictator. Again, more LARPing.

This whole shitshow has been depressing.

It seems no matter who they replace no matter what charges eventually appear there will be absolutely zero consequence. In today’s government you can be a pedophile (like the Podesta Brothers, Wiener, and probably Schultz) have your enemies and people who have become inconvenient assassinated (Like the Clinton Crime Family) And leak and lie your ass off (like Lynch, Comey, the Busch family etc) and you will not ever be prosecuted much less serve one day in Prison. You can fail multiple cognitive test 9like waters and McCain) and still keep your power .

Interesting that Trump is turning to the military for a chief of staff. Which I suspect is not accidental. Not only do the military men know how to keep their mouths shut, they also know how to implement policies they don't particularly agree with.

Although after eight year of Obama, Trump is a breath of fresh air.

Reminds me of that time some show or another had Priebus and Bannon on together as a sort of odd-couple kind of thing. And the trick question was, "Say something good about the other guy."

Priebus was kind of shell-shocked by the question while Bannon stepped into the silence and said something like, "This guy is indefatigable. He never stops. I can get in at 6 am and he's already there working the phones, getting the donations, shoring up the support. And when I'm getting ready to leave at 7 pm, he's still there."

I forget what Priebus said, fairly lame by comparison.

Generals know how to obey, without questioning. Good quality and needed. In calmer times, more educated and intelligent people can lead, but now, in turmoil, a general is a good choice.

I agree. Both parties are full of politicians and that means both parties are simply crooks who don't give a damn about the people nor the country. They are in it for themselves.

Alexis De Tocqueville predicted this:

" It is indeed difficult to conceive how men who have entirely given up the habit of self-government should succeed in making a proper choice of those by whom they are to be governed; and no one will ever believe that a liberal, wise, and energetic government can spring from the suffrages of a subservient people.

A constitution republican in its head and ultra-monarchical in all its other parts has always appeared to me to be a short-lived monster. The vices of rulers and the ineptitude of the people would speedily bring about its ruin; and the nation, weary of its representatives and of itself, would create freer institutions or soon return to stretch itself at the feet of a single master. "

I see this as TGE tried through Priebus to work with Congress.

Yes. Six months to try doing it their way. And he did get a surprising amount done, but last night's repeal debacle put an end to that experiment, if he hadn't already made up his mind. It's not just that it didn't pass, but that they let a literally brain-damaged old creep make them look like fools.

WSJ is reporting that a source says Trump was fed up with Priebus because he didn't fight back when Scaramucci slammed him in the press. That's exactly what happened on one episode of The Apprentice: one candidate was bad-mouthing the other, and the other one just sat there and took it, probably thinking it made him look calm and reasonable, so Trump fired the second one for not defending himself.

Who knows if it's true this time, but he definitely doesn't like people who don't stand up for themselves.

Anonymous VFM #7916 July 28, 2017 6:34 PM

I can't find any screenshots of this online, but there's a movie called Hot Shots Part Deux, and it was making fun of the 80s action movies, and early on when the main character goes to rescue some POWs, he submits a paper from the POTUS to the guy running the show, and it simply says "They're in, you're out." I get the impression that some authority said...."Do it our way for six months."

So he did and results were not good. It was a rotten plan with the wrong people to pull it off. Hopefully, this means...."No more Mr. Nice guy." and an end to compromises where we give everything and get nothing in return.

I remember during the campaign, Preibus was very noisy about the fact that Donald Trump's immigration stance was screwing up his Hispanic Outreach for the Republican Party. So when he was given a top position in the new Administration, it filled me with a dark dread. This guy is not loyal and cannot be trusted. He does not actually believe in what we are trying to do, no matter what he says. I am only relieved he is now gone.

And as icing he has pushed any Sessions-knighting out of the picture. This is Willy on Wheels meets Svengali. And you know, the vast sum of Americans have benefited not by looting and rioting, but by getting the heck out of bed and going to work everyday. This is Populist power. Focus on the half full and fill it up from there.

Blogger Elocutioner July 28, 2017 8:42 PM

If Sundance's analysis is correct (and I think it probably is) then Priebus is mostly loyal to Trump's donor list since all of Trump's supporters stopped giving to the RNC when the RNC focused on chasing big donors after Citizens United and ignoring the base. He was never onboard ideologically, just financially.

Reince and the RNC were also used to staff the administration since Trump didn't have a deep pool of people in DC who could hit the ground running. There was simply no way to actually keep things running without their help. And six months later a Republican Congress is still slow-rolling his nominees.

The problem that Trump is having with the GOP is pretty simple.

He is used to accomplishing things.

He'd like to do that again.

Accomplishing things is a strange and worrying phenomena to the Republican Party, the likes of which it hasn't seen since 1865.

They honestly can't deal with a boss who actually wants to do that. They have no frame of reference.

Other than maybe Ronald Reagan who was trying to get stuff done but then stopped after he was nearly murdered by the son of rich friend of the Vice President.

Mike Pence has been a massive disappointment to the GOP in this regard. I mean, he went to college in Indiana. INDIANA! You can't make the right kind of connections there!

Now he is hiring people outside the Republican Party who are also used to getting things done.

"Where will this all end?" Wails the GOP.

Maybe. But Trump did call him out aggressively and repeatedly and deliberately in front of the world several times over several days. I mean, Trump upset a lot of people on the right over this so it's not nothing.

I hope it works out. Look at this interview with Larry Klayman starting at 9:00 minutes. Klayman says Sessions, with respect to the Bundy's, told him he doesn't want to get involved in it. And Klayman is like "He's the AG!". Klayman goes on to say if Sessions isn't going to do his job he should step down.

Unless it's classified info, it's not a crime

but it's the same problem as Comey leaking conversations with Trump:
this is the White House and the Presidency we're talking about.

by its very nature, MOST of these conversations are going to involve sensitive or classified information and subjects.

leaking content on these conversations isn't simply breaking trust and violating the responsibilities of your job, it's a practical impossibility to have not impinged security in some way. pretending that you have managed some sort of sequestration between un / classified subjects while leaking on a weekly basis requires an extremely gullible subject in order for that assertion to be given credence.

just as the revelation that Comey violated security numerous times in his leaks validated my previous assertions about his acts.

You're to fat for this ride -> http://www.al.com/news/mobile/index.ssf/2017/07/too_fat_to_ride_at_owa_alabama.html

Not a surprise, amusement park rides were designed for the post WWII average in size and weight. Now that the average is larger and heavier safety issues are cropping up. It's why the Disney parks have removed the Skyway gondola rides. The weight limit per gondola was 500 lbs. - more than a family of four circa 1955. By the time they closed, two people could get dangerously close to the limit.

Military is a fantastic tool for a Right wing government: it lends gravitas and authoritah to the government, especially in comparison to the other political players.

Australia's Conservative government used Generals to great effect in their successful shutdown of the boat trade in illegal asylum seekers.

You know I love you bro. We had some heated exchanges back in '04-'05 about theology, always. Wish you only joy, peace and love.

One more thought. When you talked about the recent deaths I was finishing your sentences. "Head wounds and a bungy cord strangulation," that missed you it seems.

Scott Adams did a periscope analysing Preibus doing an interview on CNN and said that he basically gave away via a tell, that he was a leaker.

Blitzer asked him fairly bluntly whether what Scaramucci was saying about Preibus was true - was he the leaker?

And Preibus did not say 'no', he tried to avoid the question and said he was not even going to deign to respond to these personal accustations and so on because he doesn't want to get into the mud.

Preibus had 3 options:
* Yes
* No
* I don't want to answer that question

If he says "Yes", then he admits being a leaker.
If he says "No", then he has to tell a massive lie - he doesn't want to do this.
So he chose option 3.

Adams says that anybody who is innocent of something, upon being accused, if they are truly innocent, will generally just go straight to option 2.

If they go to option 2 they are either a lier or innocent. But if they go to option 3 then they are probably guilty.

Why do you lie to us Freddy? You know we hate it when you lie.

Generals know how to obey, without questioning. Good quality and needed. In calmer times, more educated and intelligent people can lead, but now, in turmoil, a general is a good choice.

Good God, you are daft.

For an officer in the US military to get promoted to O-3 (Army/AF/Marine Captain, Navy Lieutenant) he MUST have completed his Bachelor's degree. To get promoted to the rank of O-5 (Army/AF/Marine Lt. Colonel, Navy Commander) he MUST have completed his Master's Degree. To get promoted to the rank of O-7 (1-star), he MUST have completed his PhD Degree.

All of this is in ADDITION to each services' own in-service education curriculum () which includes both service-wide schools, and MOS-specific coursework.

By the time a man has made his first star, he has completed enough coursework to have TWO bachelor's degrees, TWO master's degrees, and two PhD's. For continued promotion, even further civilian and military education is required ... not de jure, but de facto, simply to have enough promotion points to be promoted against your peers.

The only uneducated thing in this mess is YOU.
