Speaking of VFM

We continue to move closer to the launch of the ALT HERO crowdfunding. We have covers and sample pages and characters in growing abundance. And while we won't be superheroes or major characters, there will likely be a cameo or two by a certain dark lord of whom superlatives have been known to be uttered on occasion, as well as his ruthless blonde companion. Given the requirements of the storyline, I would expect a few VFM to make an appearance as well.

Shouldn't the difference in heights be much more dramatic?

Blogger VD July 19, 2017 8:19 AM

That's kind of the point. With heels on, SB is the same height as me.

Anonymous Looking Glass July 19, 2017 8:24 AM

If I said Spacebunny needs to be doing a V for Victory symbol, would anyone get the reference? That's a deepcut Japanese reference. And a "laser sword".

Blogger Student in Blue July 19, 2017 8:24 AM

The old-timey blasters on the bracers are a great touch.

Blogger Shimshon July 19, 2017 8:27 AM

Vox's kind is known to be short.

That is a great pic.

Anonymous Looking Glass July 19, 2017 8:27 AM

I do like the designs, but my first thought is "larger shoulderpads & more skulls".

Blogger Fenris Wulf July 19, 2017 8:38 AM

Is the giant chest skull a sidekick that detaches and flies around the room? Will there be an action figure with Spring-Loaded Flying Skull Action? And a little spark generator to make the codpiece skull look like it's shooting out flames?

Blogger Orville July 19, 2017 8:39 AM

Love it! SB's ears have a hint of the Donnie Darko rabit in them.

Anonymous Viiidad July 19, 2017 8:43 AM

SB is hot.

Also, where are the terrifying helldogs, following in your wake?

Blogger wired216 July 19, 2017 8:53 AM

Can this be a T-shirt too please?

Anonymous Baseball Savant July 19, 2017 9:03 AM

yes the t-shirt idea is cool. Mrs. Savant is also close to me in heels but i'm only 5'11 so that sort of makes sense. The downside of being short I suppose.

Blogger Dave July 19, 2017 9:05 AM

Can't wait for the episode where the Supreme Dark Lord vanquishes the evil Holoca$h racketeers.

Dunno mate those are some pretty big boots he's drawn ya wearing.

Blogger JACIII July 19, 2017 9:20 AM

Blogger Nate July 19, 2017 9:28 AM

"Needs feathers."

yes! and a tomahawk

Blogger Kentucky Headhunter July 19, 2017 9:29 AM

The heels are nice, but I would have given SB some heeled boots for improved ass-kicking ability. Also easier to clean off.

Vox needs more cowbell, I mean skulls. A sturdy staff with some SJW scalps dangling from it would be included in the action figure's box, correct?

Anonymous Eduardo July 19, 2017 9:32 AM

Vox need pouches... At least two dozen of them!

Blogger Student in Blue July 19, 2017 9:35 AM

While we're suggesting design changes and being tongue-in-cheek about it, why not add a billion belts everywhere? It's a tried and true JRPG design classic.

Anonymous Eduardo July 19, 2017 9:42 AM

I'm 5'6" lol!

You people are complaining about being 5'10" and up lol

Even in my country I am short lol. Dem high standards though.

Anonymous Sheiko29 July 19, 2017 9:51 AM

Blogger Jack Aubrey July 19, 2017 9:56 AM

I hope SB will be leading the troops into battle, mounted on her armored War Vizsla.

I always thought I was right at med height at around that height. Then I moved to San Antonio and now I'm almost a giant.

Blogger Happy LP9 July 19, 2017 10:01 AM

Kick ass graphics, great art.

SB has laser guns and a cute outfit.

I wish the dogs were there though, add dogs?

Skulls on shoulder-pads for sure. Skulls on knees. Skulls everywhere.

Blogger The Observer July 19, 2017 10:31 AM

There's a vaguely Japanese vibe to it. I like.

Yeah, but I was wondering, where is the katana?

Anonymous CarpeOro July 19, 2017 10:36 AM

By the way, will VFM be portrayed as wearing Pepe masks? We are faceless after all. Though I guess there would be a trademark issue possibly involved with that.

Anyone worried about "climate change" and starving polar bears: get some transport and drop off some big-old hogs up there! That one oughta feed a bunch o' bears!

BACON FOR BEARS!!

Ridgebacks in battle armour.

Kinda off topic: If you get a chance, check out the "Diversity & Comics" YouTube channel. It's a humorous exploration into the decline and demise of Marvel Comics. It's not ham-handed political commentary. This YouTuber seems to enjoy reading the tortuous SJW story-lines. You'll notice that tends to use "SJWAL" as a guide by which to form his commentaries.

@27 The Observer

Armor is pretty standard Japanese-takes-on-English-Fantasy approach. The more important the character, the bigger & more shiny the armor. The V-effect is a mecha take on the classic Samurai armor.

As for the Bunny Suit, beyond the standard "bunny" aspect of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KUsRbMUpEU VD can strip the link if he doesn't want to give that away. The video is well worth the 6 minutes. It changed the entire medium of animation. (And any ELO fans will recognize the song.)

One of those tusks would make a great knife handle.

The story to go with it would be epic.

When your buddies ask how you got it you say, "I shot it in my front yard",

-pause while the incredulity quiets down-

"with this" Then you pull the .38 out of your pocket.

Blogger Ingot9455 July 19, 2017 11:55 AM

Thank you for the link to the Daicon 4 opening animation. I recall seeing it on cherished many-copied Vhs long long ago. Good to see it clean.

"Dunno mate those are some pretty big boots he's drawn ya wearing."

Better for stomping on SJWs.

Blogger Nate July 19, 2017 12:13 PM

""with this" Then you pull the .38 out of your pocket."

that's the part of the story I had to read twice. I have a lot of options... and a snubby 38 is not what I would pick to go shoot a 820 pound hog.

This is precisely why 50 beowulf exists.

Anonymous Aeoli Pera July 19, 2017 12:46 PM

Solid look, recalls Warhammer without the overdesign.

Blogger Student in Blue July 19, 2017 12:49 PM

@34. Looking Glass

Also, if I recall correctly, those Daicon videos were one of the first things that Gainax did.

Personally with the Supreme Dark Lord, it's so close to Space Marine proportions that it looks odd that it doesn't resemble Space Marines more.

Blogger daddynichol July 19, 2017 12:52 PM

What's with the bulky skirt?

Vox's character needs to have the ability to edit the text balloon when his nemesis speaks. Perhaps there could be a villain with no chin, slumped shoulders, but brags about his big lawn.

Blogger John Williams July 19, 2017 12:54 PM

There seems to be a flaming sword missing...

When I was watching the Daikon video, an EA-18 went over at 1000' and 600 knots or so. Awesome sound effect.

Blogger RobertDWood July 19, 2017 6:13 PM

Vd curls 90s, the arms deserve larger girth.

Blogger Matthew Funk July 19, 2017 6:52 PM

I'd prize a graphic novel of a random dude who says the wrong thing in the wrong space, comes under SJW attack, initially does the wrong things, has a "wait a god damn minute here" moment and decides to take the fight to them. No superpowers, no action sequences of any kind, simply a man vs. self story.

Blogger Servant of the Chief July 19, 2017 8:41 PM

I actually think these two would make great 'narrator' type characters, the sort of characters you sometimes see in breaks between the various stories in a comic book talking about future story plans, commenting on things, advertising stuff and generally being nice 'comic relief' between the major stories so as to not break immersion.

Anonymous Korbin Ransley July 19, 2017 11:28 PM

The Alt-Hero material is looking and sounding real nice. 8^)

@49 That's a neat idea. I think I know what you mean. I believe I've seen similar in comics, anime, and games. It was funny, and entertaining.

Blogger Were-Puppy July 20, 2017 12:30 AM

Can the VD costume project holographic babymetal concerts as a backdrop for yuge battles?
