It starts with one

"We've seen a lot more mistakes lately than rebounds. Its time to go on a domestic policy winning streak."
- Nate

Ask and ye shall receive.
Speaking from the Roosevelt Room at the White House Wednesday morning, President Trump expressed support for the Reforming American Immigration for Strong Employment Act, RAISE, in an effort to shift America's immigration system away from low-skilled labor to one based on merit and skills. If passed, the legislation would represent the largest overhaul of the U.S. immigration system since the 1960s.

"Struggling American families deserve an immigration system that puts their needs first," the President said. "The RAISE Act ends chain migration and replaces our low-skilled system with a new points-based system."

"The green card reforms in the RAISE Act will give American workers a pay raise by reducing unskilled immigration," he continued.

The President, standing with Republican Senators Tom Cotton and David Perdue, argued the influx of low-skilled immigrants has greatly disadvantaged working class Americans by depressing wages and eliminating jobs.

"We're not committed to working class Americans and we need to change that," Senator Tom Cotton, a co-author of the legislation, said. "We bring over a million immigrants into this country a year. That's like adding the population of Montana."

"Our current system  is over a half-century old. It is an obsolete disaster," he continued.

The legislation significantly limits legal immigration, by 15 percent, and favors immigrants who have strong English language abilities. It prioritizes immigrants who have high skills to benefit the American economy and reduces eligibility for immigrants to receive welfare.

"The RAISE Act prevents new migrants and new immigrants from collecting welfare," the President said.
Is it a perfect plan? No. Is it everything that is so desperately needed? Also no. But anything that upsets the mainstream media this much is definitely on the right track. And the shift from discussing illegal immigration to reducing legal immigration is a vital one; the problem has never been the "illegal" aspect as so many cucks and cons had it, but the "immigration" aspect.

It's not certain that shutting down all immigration and deporting 30 million people would be sufficient to prevent the breakup of the United States, so obviously the RAISE Act will not be enough either. But the voyage of a thousand leagues begins with a single step; it took 50 years to break US demographics so the problem is not going to be fixed overnight either.

Now, it would be nice if the God-Emperor would follow up this announcement with something related to the fact that he is going to BUILD THE WALL.

They will never switch from talking about "illegal" to "legal". The left only talks about "immigration" without any discernment between legal and illegal because they know they have no real arguments when it comes to illegal immigration. They literally just throw accusations of hating legal immigrants around whenever we start talking about fighting illegal immigration.

We should fight this by just talking about how IMMIGRATION is bad in general. Some types of immigration could be justified when we still had half a continent to settle and tame, but it's been over 100 years since that was the case. We need another Coolidge pause in immigration... only instead of ~40 years, let's shoot for a century at least.

Someone is going to come on here and say that the wall is important and we shouldn't be fixiated on it because it doesn't matter and is ineffective.

Trump won because he was the only one that vowed to "Build the Wall". Whether it is effective or inefficient is irrelevant. It is symbolic. All of the swamp is against the wall. If he can organize the political clout to build the wall he has won. It is the symbol of American vs the Globalist.

Half the population of India poops and pees on the ground, right out in the open -- men, women, children, grannies, everybody. According to the UN, that's over 625,000,000 people.

I say we refuse to take any more educated Indians.

They all need to go home, educate their own people on the germ theory of disease and engineer sewer systems.

Why should we enable them to escape their homemade Hindu hell hole and run off to live with civilized white folks when they are desperately needed to clean up the mess they left behind?

The first step with a bee sting is to remove the stinger continuing to inject poison.
The RAISE act at first glance is the civic nationalist version - only let in smart, English speaking entrepreneurial immigrants.
If we cut off all welfare and similar subsidy (and made skipping out on ER debt a crime), many would self-deport.
#Calexit (retaining the northern part, the state of Jefferson) would also help. Mexifornia can join with the rest, and see how well the high-tech silicon valley fares when they would need to be Carlos Slim.

Would love your opinion on this piece written in the American Conservative about how the Neocons hijacked the Trump administration by putting in low profile Neocons in key positions in the administration and then have them keep the door open for the rest of the pack to come in, while blocking and sidelining the real Trump loyalists:

I come from a family of skilled workers, several of us have been unemployed for years. I'm looking out for my own first, and I will make no apologies for that. Now, you are right, any slashing of any immigration is good, but it's not just unskilled laborers that are harming us. So you tell me, why would a person who is not related to any unskilled labor be disappointed in this?

Blogger Nobody of Consequence August 02, 2017 4:42 PM

I understand that folks really want the feds to come up with a new immigration plan but ... The feds DO NOT HAVE any granted power over immigration. Immigration and naturalization are STATE powers. The feds are to make an uniform RULE of naturalization. Why uniform? Because it is a rule to be followed by many entities, i.e. each of the States. If it were only for the fed, the term, uniform, would be superfluous. If one wants a constitutional federal government, one must push back to the granted powers in EVERY instance, not just in the areas with which one has concerns.

Blogger Cail Corishev August 02, 2017 4:47 PM

On H-1Bs, I don't know how much cooperation the president needs from Congress. He signed that order this spring to review the program and start cracking down on abuses. If he can cut numbers or stiffen requirements on his own, it probably makes sense to leave that out of this and bring it later.

No matter what Trump and Sessions want to do, they still have to work with the civic nationalists who are still very attached to their "but mah good immigrants!" myth. They can't bite off the whole thing at once. And the difference between this and other "compromises" of the past is that the past ones all involved the concessions up front, and the tightening never came. As I understand this, it cuts legal immigration 50% over 10 years, but it gets 40% of the cut in the first year. That's the opposite of the way it usually works, where they take credit for cuts in the tenth year that never comes.

There was a report earlier this week that construction on the Wall is now planned to begin later this year, instead of next year as was previously intended. Can't remember where I saw that, and of course it's not being reported in the MSM.

Miller started giving the CNN dipwad a history lesson about Emma Lazarus, which he wasn't prepared for at all, so he just yammered and tried to interrupt. When the beating was over, Sarah Sanders said, "Well, that was exciting." Ha!

Anonymous Looking Glass August 02, 2017 5:07 PM

@21 Cail Corishev

Wall information is utterly buried. The Wall will probably be complete before we actually see it in the News. Local news barely mentions it. RFPs for the 2nd stage should be out, though test sections for the enhanced version should go up in late Summer.

There was an explicit $1.6 billion in the Budget bill, which should cover significant chunks of it. It takes time for border running patterns to change, so they can put a large barrier in the really popular areas first and fill in the rest later. There's going to be issues in chunks of Texas because of land rights and other details, but almost no one swims across. That one isn't too much of an issue.

Also, far unlike every other administration, Trump is taking the "you'll like it after the fact" approach. Like a Magician, everyone is watching his right hand while his left hand is making the real magic. That's the reason so freaking much is happening: Trump assigns duties and only checks in every now & then. Like a great CEO. If he judges you're failing, you're gone. What a freaking concept!

Under US law, the ONLY immigrants are those individuals who are in this country legally. It does not matter if they are visa overstays, or they crept over the border, or they came here to go to school and never left....they are in the USA illegally and they should never, ever be called immigrants of any sort.

Immigrant has become a Leftist Media term, much like Refugee....very much overused and never in the context of the law, all intended to confuse and combine populations that the law does not confuse or combine. They are tools of Leftist propaganda.

I completely support my US Senator, Tom Cotton, and completely support the proposed legislation. Why? It is much more humane and cheaper than civil war in this country.

If the liberal Republipukes refuse to support this bill and it fails to pass Congress, we can say we tried to avoid what happens later. No amount of Wall on the border is going to stop the invasion of this country without legislation of this sort.

Perhaps the intent of the proposed legislation is simply to buy more time. The American people will give them time to solve this problem, but time is in short supply these days. As Napoleon told his generals...."Ask me for anything, but time." WE no longer have much time to give.

It won't be a quota of a million. From what I understand, the RAISE act would slash immigration to about 300,000-500,000 per year, which might actually put it more or less in line with EMIGRATION.

Most importantly it would also put the screws down on Africans and Muslims. The diversity lottery would be gone. Refugees getting green cards would have an absolute cap of 50,000 per year (and remember, Trump still has the authority to set new refugee admissions at zero). Family-sponsored preferences, which will in the future be heavily slanted toward Africans and Muslims, would be gone too.

Regardless, due to the Republicuck swing vote in the Senate, I don't see this getting through any more than the attempted gutting of Obamacare could, until several more democrats are thrown out of the Senate in the 2018 elections.

The Statue of Liberty was never intended for New York or the USA. The French were commissioned for a statue for the harbor of Alexandria, Egypt. The Egyptians did not like the statue or did not have the money, so it was bargain basement clearanced to NYC, but they had to come up with money for the base of the statue.....bake sales, raffles, and a Poetry Contest. Problem is, in India, the ones that are actually competent move on from the call centers and outsourcers to actually do the work at a real rate. One fellow I know just went from the equivalent of $5/hr (good wages in India) at an outsourcer to $25/hr at a bank, because he was competent. The intransigent fiefdoms foreign nationals have set up within our borders will take a very long time to dissipate but at least there is some small flicker of hope that they actually might. In the 20's ethnic tensions were at a boiling point similar to where they are now, immigration was reduced by a factor of ten and italians, irish, english et. al. became Americans. I hold a small bit of hope that this might happen again, but this is probably a fools hope as from what I've read RAISE only cuts the rate in half over ten years but hey it's at the very least a start and who knows what might happen in the future? Maybe this is meant to test the waters in preparation for a more robust and effective measure.

and it's all too late for "legislation". By 2030 (real, not jew.gov #'s) Whites will be a minority in 'Murka. Meanwhile another "one" multiplication of force.
Tom Woods while noting the SJW converged half of libertarianism is going bonkers in his erudite yet caustic way mentions Mises was A card carrying member of the John Birch Society

1. Ok, that makes the current flood of libertarians to the gAlt-Right nothing new yet understandable. From the link:

There it is. With characteristic understatement, Ludwig von Mises, a card-carrying member of the John Birch Society listed on the advisory board of the Society’s flagship publication American Opinion during the 1960s, calls anyone opposed to conscription an abettor of those aiming at the enslavement of all. But what I find interesting in Mises’s diatribe are the two sentences before the last one in the paragraph.

He who wants to remain free, must fight unto death those who are intent upon depriving him of his freedom. As isolated attempts on the part of each individual to resist are doomed to failure, the only workable way is to organize resistance by the government.

Much more goodness Mises who had to flee the Nazis in the article. He sounds like Vox - no, he sounds like Ivan Throne. And I thought he was just a great economist.

Today I saw a picture somewhere (maybe on /pol/) of a 2-year-old kid whose family drowned in the Sea. This picture won't make the rounds like the previous one, because no one cares as much anymore. They can only pull those heartstrings for so long, so many times.

People know that we've been deporting illegals for a while, and the scare stories haven't come true. Urchins aren't roaming the streets crying for their deported parents. People aren't being dragged from their homes in the middle of the night. The vegetable section at the grocery store isn't empty. Turns out it's fine; you can enforce the law without society falling apart. The worst consequence has been that some businesses are paying higher wages -- oh no! Here is a haunting take on that from 17 years ago-

The terms for the end of the game were set, in part, in the early 80s. Since then, there had been a tremendous effort by the US government to stop use of American resources by American and foreign consumers. Major finds of gas, and particularly, oil were capped and not allowed to go into production. Forest lands were set aside from loggers. Gold mines were induced not to explore nor produce gold within the US. Why? So that when the end does come, the US will have cash traded commodities to sell - so that when the US can't buy on dollar credit anymore, it will have something to trade while the country is reindustrialized.

The US tried to play the technology card by assisting US tech companies in gaining investments, that was done by making them appear more attractive to investors through SEC and IRS accounting rules regarding ESOPs and merger accounting that lower the cash costs of top talent and make losses seem like earnings. But the "social adjustment" oriented school system produces mostly good salespeople and hamburger flippers. India has more programmers than Silicon Valley, and Taiwan and Singapore produce more chips. The best computer and software design is done in Ireland and the Norse countries, and wireless technology is mostly a Finnish, British and German industry. The only way to eliminate the disadvatage in education is to import as many tech pros as we can before they stop wanting to come here. If 10 million 30-35 year old techies can be imported over the next 5-10 years, the US may have a chance to survive as the major economy.

This was absolute fucking bullshit. The Nords are geniuses at software and computer design, and Finns at telecom? Where is Nokia now?

The guys who built this technology ARE STILL HERE. They're still working. What is happening is not that we can't do it. We have plenty of talent. It's that it makes no sense for a young man to go into the tech industry. Wages are artificially depressed by foreign labor. He has to watch what he says at all times. Social Justice Convergence means he is vulnerable at any time to attack from SJWs.

The smartest young guys don't go into tech. They go into finance. That's where they can make real money. Why slave 16 hours a a day to make 150K if you can work just as hard and make literally millions?

Stirring the pot

Some details and discussion follow:

We have fought a war and have lost it. The war that was fought was for financial hegemony through the issue of the reserve currency for the world. In essence making the US serve the role of banker to the world. The war was lost in 1968 and defeat conceded in 1971 and again in 1973. With much support from a world scared of a complete freeze-up of commerce, the dollar was resuscitated just in the nick of time and a new gold convertibility standard was put together by the same bankers that pushed for and got the Fed and then Bretton Woods.

Currency is the cause, not trade

In your post [Stocks, Lies, and Ticker Tape] there is discussion of displacement of local manufacture by imports due to "free trade".

This is not true!

The actual cause is "Triffin's dilemma", which was actually discovered at least 3 centuries ago, and possibly first formulated by Sir Gresham, the Exchequer to Elisabeth some 450 years ago.

The idea is simple, industry is destroyed at the source of money creation.

Nokia was yuge 17 years ago when this was written. Today, rumor has it, the Finns are geniuses at Alt-Pub. This bill, if passed, would cut immigration in half, from 1M+ each year to around 500,000, according to Senator Cotton.

The important part, of course, is 'if passed' - GOP Senate, despite promising Obamacare repeal for years, didn't even pass that. Their wealthy donors will certainly be pulling strings to stop this bill. Trump needs to win greater majorities in Congress and Senate. Start by building the wall and acting more mature.
