NFL Week 2

No Sam Bradford for the Vikings. Not good.

Blogger SemiSpook37 September 17, 2017 2:36 PM

Uh, yeah, not good. Especially since it's against the Steelers. Score could be a little better, but at least they're not playing down like they did to the Clowns last week.

And of course, in the proverbial "Why Are You Hitting Yourself" Game (Part 1), said Clowns were looking to try and tie up the Ratbirds in Baltimore...and promptly threw a drive killing pick with 19 seconds left in the half.

*sigh* Why do we even bother?

Blogger Dave September 17, 2017 2:40 PM

Yeah, Case Keenum and any defense not named the Saints = 67 total yards offense at halftime.

The good news though is it's against the AFC.

Blogger exfarmkid September 17, 2017 2:49 PM

No. Not good at all.

Blogger YIH September 17, 2017 3:07 PM

No it isn't. Ponder's been good with the Vikes. Even last year he did about as well as he could considering what he had to work with. It wasn't his fault the defense went from damn good to damn fools.

Blogger YIH September 17, 2017 3:13 PM

71 yards rushing is nothing to crow about, but it matches the Steelers. Cook seems to a decent replacement for All Day - which is what they needed.
Not surprised about the Mon Nite game, if anybody knows how to deal with All Day, it's the team he practiced and played with for several years. Doesn't make MNF watchable however.

Sam Bradford Player Overview

Bradford has had a series of major injuries — the last being a season-ending torn left ACL he suffered in the 2014 preseason. He missed 9 games in 2013 with the same injury to the same knee. And in 2011 he missed 6 games with a severe ankle sprain. He’s never been the safest pick for fantasy players.

It is a kindness to crush the Viking fan's hopes in Week 2 rather than string it out to Week 17 or the playoffs.

You Gents could be Bears fans, ha, ha.

Blogger YIH September 17, 2017 3:23 PM

Looks like they're the ''Aint's'' again. Just what the Dr. ordered for the Pats after that season opening stunner.

Blogger Nate September 17, 2017 3:25 PM

And the Titans are wearing out the Jags.

Blogger Nate September 17, 2017 3:34 PM

30 to 3.

so much for the new rebuild jags D.

Blogger RobertT September 17, 2017 3:54 PM

But you do have Kyle Sloter. Paid big to take him away from Broncos.

Yeah, right? I said on another thread maybe the Brits might be more interested in the NFL if we sent them something other than the Jags.

That may have been some of the worst tackling in the history of the Steelers' defense on the big run.

Other than that a solid win.

Andy Reid almost blew it.

Would like to see him get in the SB.

He was in it...once. Against the Patriots. We know how well that one worked out.

Wonder if the Vikes are now the front runners in the Krappernick lottery?

Blogger AdognamedOp September 17, 2017 6:58 PM

How is it that the Broncos Cowboys game is at half-time at 7:00 est and the Jets -Raiders game is at the 2 min mark in the 4th qt when both games started at 4:00 est?

Ah,ok thx.

Crap, in the ATX I get to watch the Cowboys lose and only read about my Raiders kicking ass

Anonymous Hammerman September 17, 2017 9:15 PM

The Cowboys got beaten like a baby seal. OW that hurt to watch.

We really missed Doug Free (RT)

On the bright side we get the Cardinals next week.

There was a day when a three point win over the 49ers would've been something to celebrate.

I don't miss those days.

Falcons beating on Green Bay like a rented mule.

September is mission statement month.

October is a wasteland of fuscia.

November is solidification month.

December is the winnowing.

After that, the bloodletting.

Blogger Lazarus September 17, 2017 10:30 PM

After watching multiple replays of the Rogers grounding, I have concluded that it was a forward pass.

The PTB said otherwise. Utter BS. When the ball left his hand it landed further away from the goal line. That is not a lateral.

But Rogers supports the anthem protests, so screw him.

The two lesbians sitting next to me at the bar earlier tonight were distressed at that first Falcon TD, "They just let them walk right in! What was that?". Only one of them looked like a halfback, though. So the opinion not based on personal experience.

Lesbians are notorious for being either tactically or strategically challenged, simply in regard to genital construction, for instance.

if I owned a team I would hire Andy as a coach. But i would also hire another coach.. maybe someone like Jeff Fisher... to do nothing but manage the clock during the game... and Andy would have absolutely no control over Jeff's decisions.

Jeff wasn't great a lot of things... but he was absolutely great at 2 things.... clock management.. the rules of the game. He always knew the rules upside down and backwards. what with being the chair of the competition committee and all.

Blogger Cail Corishev September 17, 2017 11:17 PM

Nate, absolutely. Reid probably loses a game a season with bad clock management. And sometimes it's a playoff game. Good as he is at general strategy and play-calling, he has a terrible sense for what's going on with the clock.

Blogger beerme September 17, 2017 11:30 PM

Donovan McNabb not knowing that OT games could end in ties could only happen on an Andy Reid coached team.

Blogger Dave September 18, 2017 12:07 AM

Reid is a very good coach but he is showing signs in KC of the same patterns he did in Philly. He can win alot of regular season games and get his team to the playoffs more often than not, however, in the games that matter the most he comes up small time after time.

Most people also don't realize after the SB appearance in 2004, his next 8 years in Philly he only won a total of three playoff games. And two of those wins came in 2008 when the Eagles backed into the playoffs with a 9-6-1 record. Of course, as the favorites and having beat the Cardinals earlier in the regular season, they found a way to lose to the Cardinals in the NFC Championship game.

When it turns bad for Reid it turns very bad. In order to save his own butt he fired Sean McDermott two seasons after promoting him to defensive coordinator. McDermott had been with the Eagles since 1999 and made it obvious in Carolina that Reid made a mistake. Then he hired the offensive line coach as the defensive coordinator? Yeah, that didn't work.

I hope he coaches many more years so I can continue to enjoy watching Reid dash other teams' and fans' dreams and hopes year after year.

Anonymous Slime September 18, 2017 12:20 AM

I wouldn't hire Jeff Fisher to run a bus:

"Fisher's most successful season was in 1999, when he led the Titans to the franchise's first (and only) Super Bowl appearance in XXXIV, which ended in close defeat. However, despite compiling a winning record as a head coach, Fisher's career has been noted for an overall lack of success, having only obtained six winning seasons and postseason appearances in over two decades in the NFL. He holds the record for the most regular season losses by an NFL head coach at 165, tied with Dan Reeves."

Remember when ya'll thought Vince Young was such a big shit?

beerme wrote:Donovan McNabb not knowing that OT games could end in ties could only happen on an Andy Reid coached team.
That's pretty much on McNabb. Most fans are surprised how many players are not up on the rules of the game. More than a few players later admitted they didn't know that. And now the NFL is constantly tweaking the rules; do you know what overtime rule they changed this season?

Blogger Resident Moron™ September 18, 2017 4:26 AM

It's hard for a kiwi to get excited about American football, especially after the All Blacks hammered South Africa 57 - 0 over the weekend; a record drubbing which broke the record we set in our last game against them.

The games at the Coliseum and in Carson were about 2k LESS than the previous night's USC/Texas game at said Coliseum...COMBINED.
