Corruption and circled wagons

The Deep State's best efforts to hide its corrupt and illegal behavior are failing:
A U.S. House committee voted Monday to seek White House clearance to publicly release a classified Republican memo that alleges bias and counterintelligence abuses in government surveillance of people surrounding President Donald Trump, members of the panel said.

Representative Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said the majority-Republican panel decided to seek release of the memo on a party-line vote. The Republican majority refused along party lines to disclose a competing memo written by Democrats.

“This is an effort to circle the wagons around the White House and distract from the Russia probe,” Schiff said.... Releasing the memo has become a cause for conservative congressional Republicans, who say the FBI and the Justice Department pursued the investigation of possible Russian ties to the Trump presidential campaign under false pretenses. Schiff has countered that the memo is part of a Republican effort designed to distract from, and undermine, Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian election interference and whether those around Trump colluded in it.

Disclosure of the memo requires White House approval because the document is based on classified information. Now, the Trump administration will have up to five days to review the document for national security concerns, though it could be released at any point. Even if the administration objects, the full House could hold a rare closed-door vote on whether to publicly disclose the memo anyway.
It will be interesting to see if what is in the memo is as bad as people are suggesting, or if it is simply more smoke that may or may not be indicative of anything substantive. Regardless, one hopes the Trump administration puts it out for public review as quickly as possible.

The key tell from Schiff is his use of the phrase "circle the wagons". Remember, SJWs always project, and they are reliably guilty of committing the crimes of which they accuse others. There is no need to "distract from the Russia probe". Everyone has known for months that there is nothing to be found there except for collusion between the Clinton Campaign, the FBI, and the NSA.

The only significant thing here is the discovery that there isn't even one honest Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee. If there are allegations of serious corruption and criminality in the memo and all of them voted to keep the memo under wraps, they are going to face some serious questions about their own corruption.

Why is that surprising? There were only five in the entire House in 1998 (and none in the Senate). Things haven't improved since then.

Is the counterattack strategy really for Dems to have their own memo, thereby tricking the public into thinking the memos are equivalent and this is just partisan tit for tat? Because even if the Republican memo is a dud, you'd have to be an idiot to fall for that. (I know, MPAI.)

Or is that just the strategy for the meantime before the memo is released? What will the following strategy be, in that case? Will it be, "Hey, the sky didn't fall, and Obama/Hillary aren't in cuffs, therefore no biggie?" Or will it be doubling down on Russia-gate and, "nevermind all that; Mueller's showdown with Trump: how close will that get us to impeachment?"

I assume the memo is one step in the long game being played by the factions from ntelligence and law enforcement who are siding with Trump. My hope is Dems may soon be in the position of the characters in Wag the Dog, stringing together distractions day by day. How many sex scandals/naughty words behind closed doors can possibly be laid at Trump's feet?

The media are already in full court press, damage control on this score. The useful idiot drones are already parroting the narrative.
While it may be obvious to some what's going on, public perception is still shaped by the media. Factor in mpai and it's not difficult to see this shitload of sedition turned 180 back on the administration. There aren't enough helicopters.

The media are already in full court press, damage control on this score.

That's why the Republican Congress always gets rolled. They don't move fast enough to keep the media reacting in confusion. Trump gets inside the media's OODA Loop. The Republicans invariably operate outside it, even when they're not acting as de facto media allies.

Blogger Chris Lutz January 30, 2018 6:30 AM

My understanding is that the committee didn't reject releasing the Democrat memo but are sending it through the shame process as the other document (i.e. it has to go through the House for a full vote).

Anonymous Looking Glass January 30, 2018 6:33 AM

Schiff has hit the fan.

Haha

Seriously, though, Schiff has been getting more & more bug-eyed the last few weeks. Corruption issues aren't like P****gate. You can throw people off the trail of Black Books and Satanic cults (which are both very real), but a lot of people won't believe them. However, taking money for favors everyone already assumed. The ball just gets rolling and it'll be rolling for years.

It gets more fun when you start asking what Foreign Nations these people also worked for. I'm still waiting for the inadvertent, "oh, it appears X was a spy for Monaco. Huh, didn't know they even had a spy agency" events. It's not just going to be Russia, China & Israel. These people are compromised on so many levels, we're going to get some really funky revelations from all this. (I expect UK spying to be a big issue. The current UK government is surprisingly unfriendly to Trump, which points to something big being up.)

I don't think there is even one honest Democrat in all of government. I could be wrong, but I just can not imagine an honest person being a Democrat at this point in history.

If the Democrats wanted their memo released, they should have voted unanimously for the release of the Republican memo. "We get to be devils, but you better be angels" hopefully is just about done as a viable tactic.

The memo may contain some revelations but ultimately the democrats/media strategy is going to be calling into question it's accuracy. Notice only the memo is being released and not the supporting evidence. Also notice that every time it is mentioned in the media it is the memo "written by Republicans". That is how they are going to attack the release and that is why they completely fabricated their own memo. So they can claim "if you believe one you have to believe the other or vice versa". They are going to attempt to discount the accuracy of this memo in ways they have never questioned the fake dossier or Wolfs book and it will likely work because MPAI.

I am hoping the GE has factored that in and has been working on declassifying supporting evidence for the memo behind the scenes while everyone has been paying attention to what was happening in congress.

Republicans put out memo claiming sky is blue.

Democrats put out counter-memo claiming sky is patriarchal construct used to discriminate against the Ugandan sub-variant of pygmy cockroaches. Because raciss! And white privilege. Oh, and blue doesn't really exist. And nuh-uh.

The democrats objective is to provide talking points for their fellow travelers in order to create false appearance of disputed facts.

Let me sum up the schiff memo for you (sight unseen): #metoo. As Vox said, it's projection.

Anonymous Uncle John's Band January 30, 2018 7:39 AM

@ 17

Feature, not a bug. Attacking the sourcing actually creates pressure to declassify the evidence, while leveraging the media to raise public interest. The Dems (and their media shills) are lighting the exploding cigar in real time.

Blogger Al From Bay Shore January 30, 2018 7:44 AM

@18 As I cautioned earlier, keep skepticism close at hand when reading Q. With that in mind, check out this post from 29 October:

"Follow the money, it’s the key.
What is Pelosi’s net worth by way of one example. Why coincidentally is her memory apparently going?

What if John M never had surgery and that was a cover for a future out if needed against prosecution?
Why did Soros transfer his bulk public funds to a NP? Note this doesn’t include massive slush funds that are pulled by several high ups."

If any of this conjecture is real, then the Dems are no longer worried about the possibility of the complete demise of their party (think Federalist Party and Hartford Convention) but are now thinking of themselves. The term "treason" has been bandied about along side the term "military tribunal (think Dec. 21 Executive Order).

Anonymous Long Live the West January 30, 2018 8:04 AM

So from what I gather a memo will be released by both parties without much (if any) in the way of supporting evidence. The democrats sure are setting themselves up to be in an interest position if Trump has any evidence that will directly refute their own memo. I can imagine one of two things happening.

1. Republicans and Democrats both release their memo. Trump having waited to see the Democrat's masterpiece, then unveils evidence exposing corruption.

2. Trump walks up to Pelosi. "Hey look what I found... sure would be a shame if the wall didn't get funded in the upcoming vote am I right?"

I'd be happy with either one.

Anonymous Texas Exile January 30, 2018 8:06 AM

What I understood was the committee has had the memo for a week. As it became clear today it will be released the dems wanted the committee to vote to release their memo at the last minute, and refused to show it to the republicans, who they wanted to vote to release it sight unseen. Dems
always lie, this time by "framing the issue."

Blogger Azimus January 30, 2018 8:11 AM

So Trump has the biggest bargaining chip of his career. He's a deal maker. I can't help but think he's going to make a deal, particularly if it's mostly smoke and very little fire. He already torpedoed McCabe. If he can get a few more scalps for free, like Rosenstein, I could see him trading the wall for keeping the memo under wraps. It certainly has the air of something the private citizen Trump would do...

WRT the memo, I suspect it'll be a serious blow but not the stroke of the headsman's axe that it's been hyped for. And nothing will happen unless and until Trump gets his nerve together. Which is my biggest worry...I'm not confident that he really understands that this isn't a normal political situation. It's low-key civil war.

Trump is a master of kayfabe, but the Dems do it too. I'm not yet ready to rule out the possibility that this memo and the Dem response are more kayfabe between the (D) and (R) teams. What if John M never had surgery and that was a cover for a future out if needed against prosecution?

This is an interesting question. Has anyone seen references to his brain tumor in say the past 5 months? Has there been any stories about his "difficult recovery" or how he is "beating the odds". No, in fact it's almost as if nothing happened to him at all.

As someone who has known several people with brain tumors, I know that this not a typical recovery. 9/10 the surgery just briefly postpones the inevitable. Also the recovery surgery is usually extremely difficult in and of itself (they are cutting out parts of your brain afterall). His walking around (admittedly unsteadily) mere weeks after the surgery was a miracle. The fact he showed no signs of it even affecting him by September seems a little much to believe.

I have honestly tried to keep up with this story...but I keep waiting for some evidence or proof that Russian illegal voting was responsible for Donald Trump's victory in 2016. Thus far, no one has claimed there were any Russian voter fraud whatsoever...in any state. There was no Russian vote fraud.

During the same election, there were as many as 3 MILLION votes cast by illegal aliens (from Mexico) for Hillary Clinton. I recall Obama going on Spanish-language television to urge illegal aliens to vote in the next election AND promising them they would not be prosecuted for engaging in voter fraud in the USA!

If they are looking for a foreign government attempting to distort and skew the presidential election, no doubt there are a number of guilty parties....Chinese, North Korean, British, Saudi, Israeli. But there is only ONE foreign government with ten percent of their own citizens on US soil who apparently voted illegally and hugely in an attempt to distort the outcome of the election....and that is Mexico. All they managed to do is give Hillary the illusion of winning the popular vote, since much of this vote was cast in California ....which would have voted for Hillary anyway and had no impact on the outcome of the election.

(I have not heard anyone claim that the election outcome was changed by foreign influence...only that they tried. Of course they tried. That is what intelligence services do these days and they learned how from the Americans.)

#42. From the article (quoting Benjamin Fulford):

In a historic moment of poetic justice, most of the U.S.-based top perpetrators of the fake “war on terror” have now themselves been renditioned to the U.S. Navy camp in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Pentagon sources say. “The Rothschild assets George Soros, Peter Munk, Peter Sutherland, the Bushes, the Podestas, and many others may have been airlifted to Gitmo for military tribunals, as the Department of Defense spends $500M to upgrade the prison and send more military police and Marines,” the sources say.

This is not very believable. For one thing, (((Soros))) just gave a pep-talk to the assembled cloud people at Davos - or perhaps it was a holographic projection of the old monster. Sutherland hopefully recently entered an eternity of weeping and gnashing of teeth, and I seriously doubt this administration would have the balls to arrest either the Podestas or (especially) the Bushes.

Yes and Obama's promise has been kept. There hasn't been a single prosecution. Massive vote-fraud in the AL special election and we have the typical Repuke response - no resistance at all. In yet another Charlie Brown moment (this makes what 30 years running now?), Kentucky Undertaker and the Gay Old Pedobears flim-flam the hapless pro-lifers yet again in the yearly re-play of Lucy and the football. Like Charlie Brown, the pro-lifers never learn the lesson and fall for it every time. Despite a good show at attempting to deal with an illegal alien criminal embezzler who's been here for decades, a blackrobe has again over-ruled the President. If they're actually coming in the night and hauling folks off to Gitmo, why not this blackrobe?? That would be a great place to start.

To repeat again, if something is actually going to be done, it had best be done soon. Trump has already promised Gay Old Pedos no resistance in the primaries, so the idiocracy will no doubt vote in the likes of Lindsay Graham over and over again as there will be the usual choice between the different jerseys of the single party. As even noted by the Z-man, the enemy are not exactly being fearful. John Kerry (remember him?) is confident enough in Trump's being removed soon that he's telling the Palestinian rabble to hold on tight.

As someone noted in a previous thread, if you're going to strike the king, you'd damned well best be certain it will be a fatal blow. The very same dictum applies to the Deep State who are still the actual philosopher-kings, all God-Emperor boasts notwithstanding. The fatal blow will need to be done before the "election", or we can look forward to Cuck Pence - a total Churchian who worships Judeo-Christ - imposing totalitarian SJW rule on behalf of the Deep State he serves in the name of Judeo-Christ. We'll end up with a God-Emperor, just not the one hoped for.

Yeah, the Globalists attempt to recreate Feudal Europe (now with more America!) is one of the undercurrents. The rejection of ballots is taking slightly different forms in the US and the EU, but the would-be neo-nobility are doing it in both places. In Europe, it's sparking nationalistic rebellions since they still have geographic nations there. In the US, it's civil war since our nations are dispersed and intermixed geographically (not counting the urban-rural divide of course).

First, DeSantis is baiting Schiff, which is fun to see, but, second, a House member just referenced the "Chewbacca Defense". I find that a hilarious time to do it.

While Globalism, as a concept, is as old as recorded history, modern Leftism grew up among the lower-tier Elites in the transition from the Feudal to Nation States era. The core ideology has always lead back to that point. They want a return to Feudal Rule, just with themselves being Dukes & Barons. Though with a Dukedom covering, say, all of Peru.

Related, it's also important to remember that the Left doesn't want new slaves. They've generally rejected that for a rather long time because, again, they're from a post-slave era European thought line, but they want to turn all of the Blacks & Browns into Serfs. You don't have to take care of Serfs, but you do have to manage your Slaves. The Left doesn't want that. They just want to toss some bones out every now and then, but they'll make sure the Serfs don't get close to the manor house.

Oh worse. It's an obamacare memo. He wanted the committee to pass it so they could see what was in it.

The int committee was not allowed to READ the memo before schiff demanded a vote to release it.

DUCHY!!!!!
FFS, learn the language.

@17-One difference: the Republican memo will actually point to evidence of if not exactly fresh crimes, crimes that aren't so vague as those involved in Russia-gate and that haven't been in the news for a year. And the MSM will have to report on them, at least a little, if just to dismiss them. (And of course we're past the days when ignoring them makes them go away.)

When the Dem memo comes out, it'll be same-old Russia stuff. So even if the underlying Republican evidence never comes out, the Repub memo beats the Dem memo, no contest. The Dem memo is only a stop-gap tactic, and a poor one at that.

The big thing is whether the memo keeps Republican momentum going, or if there has been too much build-up for not enough oomph. I dunno.

@18-Boy, they're *really* afraid of the phrase "chain migration," and want us to stop using it immediately. Their research must show it's deadly effective, which is why they're trying to link it to slavery or whatever.

Pelosi is a bad liar, by the way. How is she a national politician?

Blogger tublecane January 30, 2018 2:56 PM

@48-I'm of two minds about the lack of leaks. On the one hand, if it's so damaging why haven't Pubs put some of it out there? Aside from the fact that they're less competent, and have more to fear from being found out.

On the other hand, if there was truly nothing to it the Dems definitely would've leaked it.

> There's a rumor going around that Nancy Pelosi is a clown dressed up as a Congresswoman. Can anyone confirm?

Those rumors are false. Nancy was caught embezzling from he Clown Retirement Fund and forced out of the business. So she went into politics, where stealing from government pension fund (Social Security) to cover current spending is accepted practice.

> John Kerry (remember him?) is confident enough in Trump's being removed soon that he's telling the Palestinian rabble to hold on tight.

Well, you do have to remember that Kerry is pretty much a moron.

Well, you do have to remember that Kerry is pretty much a moron.

Oh yes, the Senior Incitatus from Massachusetts is not very bright and he certainly belongs on a short list of folks to be renditioned to a very dark place. There's also the fair point raised by tublecane that a stock photo of Satanic spawn (((Soros))) - you know, the actual Nazi collaborator - could very well have been used along with an utterly bogus report of his speech to the gathered cloud people at Davos. Disinformation abounds, and the Deep State is very practiced at it.

The overall point nevertheless remains: For all this talk of swamp-drainage, 12-D chess, etc. we have a single resignation of an obviously corrupt FBI official - ultimately a minor player in the game to overthrow Trump who gets to keep a fat pension upon 'retirement' at age 50 (no doubt to a cushy K-Street office as 'security advisor'). Meanwhile, Federal blackrobes still over-rule the Executive branch at whim with little resistance. The Deep State shows no sign of slowing down in its increasing rate of murder, ginning up wars (Turkey, Syria, Ukraine), etc. We still have now idea of what happened in Las Vegas and there have been at least 9 witnesses whose testimony runs contrary to official lies who've come to sudden ends worthy of any Arkansas Gothic horror tale. Massive vote-fraud goes on completely unopposed, and the Gay Old Pedos are doing what they do best (excepting their assumption of the customary position): pulling meaningless stunts to impress clueless morons who fall for it for decades on end.

@60-tuberman, not tublecane. I always knew the similarity of our handles would cause trouble.

Blogger tublecane January 30, 2018 5:03 PM

@60-By the way, about the dark cloud hanging over you, not much has happened thus far compared to the promises contained in Trump's "drain the swamp" speeches (existential struggle for a We the People government, and all that). But I for one am not looking for silver bullets, and advise patience. It's apparent to me thay this is a multi-step process, and the possible forces of Light are being cautious.

As for judges, we could start threatening to lynch them right now for all I care. Short of storming college campuses and waiting a generation, there's no solution to that problem. No need for caution.

Blogger Harris January 30, 2018 6:35 PM

I honestly have serious doubts about how impactful this memo will be. I've been inoculated by previous serious pronouncements from Republican Congress critters, who overplayed their hand. But I am curious to see if this time they're right, and it really is as serious as they've said.

We'll see.

Blogger Harris January 30, 2018 6:38 PM

What would be hilarious, and make Democrat's and media (but I repeat myself) heads spin is for Trump to authorize release of the Republican memo, but not authorize the release of the Democrat memo. Then, they would be forced into a full House vote on whether to release the Democrat memo.

Blogger Jack Amok January 31, 2018 2:11 AM

They want a return to Feudal Rule, just with themselves being Dukes & Barons.

Yep. That's why I call them the neo-bility. They think they're the new noble class.

And that's also why they are such reflexive opponents of Nationalism. Nationalism is what replaced the Feudal system, so they - at least subconsciously - understand it is the enemy of the system they want to reimpose.
