Government cannot, and WILL NOT, protect you

Glenn Reynolds points this out in USA Today:
The chief problem facing America today is the decline of its institutions, coupled with the denial of that decline by the people in charge of its institutions. The latest example of this problem is the Parkland school shooting in Florida. From the FBI, to local law enforcement, to the schools, everyone failed. There was failure early, there was failure in the middle, and there was failure late. And no one has taken responsibility.
I would put 130 million alien settlers first, but to be sure, the decline of American institutions is certainly high up there on the list of problems.

Government must always be regarded suspiciously, even when it is doing nothing more nefarious than declaring that the sky is blue or the temperature is warm. Distrust and verify must always be our watchwords.

here was failure early, there was failure in the middle, and there was failure late. And no one has taken responsibility.

There was failure before the shooting.
There was failure during the shooting.
There was failure after the shooting.

Not taking responsibility for prior failures is itself a failure.

The transcripts of the 911 warning calls (I just read one from January 5 of this year) are remarkable. The caller provided specific details about messages, actions, and sympathies toward ISIS to the "authorities" and it went unheeded.***

The caller knew of posts on his public instagram account. Knew about him taking his deceased mother's credit card or whatever and buying guns.

And now we hear this kid was calling in to say that he felt he might be a threat?

*** Also just found out the sheriff had a deputy who was a ranking member of CAIR. FFS.

A converged sheriff who hires a member of an org with known ties to Islamic terrorism, deputies either too cowardly to save children or ordered to stand down, and a department wide effort to hide crime from "at risk" yutes.

No wonder this guy was on Hillary's short list for FBI.

The civil rights' assault that we averted by electing Trump...

-- A Campus Monitor (MY NOTE: not the Resource Officer) observed Cruz exiting an Uber, carrying a duffle bag.
-- The CM radioed a co-worker because Cruz was not a student and also banned from carrying a backpack on school grounds.
-- The CM noted Cruz was walking deliberatively toward the building.

Minutes later, shots fired.

All from a statement by John Curcio, an officer. He appears to have been the officer taking the statement.

I don't know what to believe, but I find it strange that we don't have endless cable TV interviews with everyone at the school. There were hundreds of people there, a few dozen interviewees and a consistent picture ought to emerge.

An interesting comment from WRS regarding the shooter's possible weapon...“…this is strange because he’s in full metal garb, helmet, face mask, bulletproof armor, shooting this rifle that I’ve never seen before,”

If the weapon she saw is the one below, I’d say it was definitely a Deep State wet works Op that was contracted out to Israeli military as the gun below is a Tavor SAR Bullpup.

If she unexpectedly develops a fatal dose of “Mandalay Bay Flu” as do other witnesses who heard/saw multiple shooters…and the school’s demolished asap “out of respect for the victims” that clinches it for me that this was a false flag and that the shitweasel sheriff and fibbers were in on it.

The problem is that if you do carry in a school you are almost certainly going to have the book thrown at you if caught or if you use it to protect yourself. Lesson is, don't go where you are not allowed to defend yourself. And as Vox said, "homeschool or die", should also consider taking college classes on line as there are many available now

That's an excellent point. Taking the FBI as an indicator, there's a pattern of behavior that emerges: Ruby Ridge, Waco, Ft Hood (IIRC the guy was flagged and/or reported prior to the shooting), LaVoy Finicum, Bundy Ranch, Las Vegas, this recent shooting in FL. (This guy put together an impressive list, though I'm unfamiliar with a good chunk of the incidents and any connection to the FBI.)

This is true; I think what we're seeing now is the mask slipping. The election of President Trump shook them hard, proving that they weren't as omnipotent as they believed, and now they're "panicking" which is causing them to get sloppy which, as more people realize it, feeds back into the panic.

Civilization can only be maintained when there are enough high IQ people who are moral, self directed, and motivated to maintain the civilization. When you have amoral low IQ people who have a "cargo cult" understanding of rules and processes - then barbarism returns.

Fortunately the Idiocracy people tend to cluster together. The web and the media focus on them and give the false impression that the idiocrats are the general state. They are not. They seem to seek each other out and cluster until critical mass causes their localized destruction. Example: Chicago is known for high murder and other violent crime statistics. Careful examination shows that the geographical areas of almost all of that is limited to very specific 10's of square miles within the 1600 square miles of the Chicago metro.

Blogger DonReynolds February 26, 2018 4:44 PM

The government, and any of its component parts, are never going to side with YOU. To do that would be to side against all of those who oppose you, and they are not going to do that.

Government will always seek the path of least resistance, like water. As long as there is no cost to pay for opposing or disappointing YOU, then it is clearly cheaper to oppose you than to oppose anyone else.

This has nothing to do with justice or duty or any legal obligation under any law. This is only about who can the government placate, who can be put off indefinitely with empty promises, who needs to be silenced before they make more trouble or stir up more of the natives.

The government is not asleep and no kicking or slapping is going to change their behavior. They will never change, even if they promise to.....next time. If you want government to change, you must change WHO constitutes the government. That may mean a takeover of the existing government, but more likely it means you need to create a new government, with an entirely different set of incentives and obligations.

Blogger Gordon Scott February 26, 2018 4:47 PM

AnvilTiger, you're right. I was once in a discussion about crime in north Minneapolis with one of fuzzy thought. He wanted to reduce crime, he said, so kids would be safe. I pointed out that you could remove about 100 people, all of whom happened to be vibrant, and crime would fall by about 80 percent. I said that the 4th precinct police knew who each of the 100 were, and where they lived. Pull them out, and make sure they don't come back, and crime will fall.

He didn't want to hear that.

Until they're doing no-knock raids on those 100 and vigorously prosecuting the gun laws that are already on the books, the left is simply unserious about the problem.

You can't solve a law enforcement problem with more laws.

Somewhat off topic, but why do so many dindus work at VA Clinics? I don't recall ever seeing that concentration of them in normal, private hospitals. Seriously, this is Omaha, mind you, not Detroit: I get in and the greeter is black. I go down the hall and one of the two receptionists is black. I passed at least four obnoxiously loud black women in hospital scrubs. Then, I meet my male nurse (Named "Oppie...") who had a thick accent from some place not-America.

Ever since that video came out where a bunch of black female nurses laughed and kidded around while an elderly vet suffocated to death right in front of them, I've been really skeptical of the treatment these people are supposed to provide. This feeling was not eased when my black nurse failed to get a correct blood pressure reading after two attempts (my white doctor got it on the first try, of course).

And to think the media actually holds the VA up as example of how government-run healthcare "works".

I agree with this statement wholeheartedly.

I go further and ask what does government do that the market could not do even better. Certainly not move the mail or make sure our medicines are safe and effective. Why exactly do we need a state?

Perhaps it is time for the various nations (tribes) to stop believing in the nation-state.

(note: governance is not the same thing as a nation state --- tribes find many ways to govern themselves)

Because too many people depend in some way on government largess. This doesn't just include welfare recipients, but also federal employees (1 million strong and counting), unions, social security recipients, medicare/medicaid recipients, and the list goes on. Most of those people are single issue voters and their single issue is their pocketbook. I dare say most people don't think about issues much larger than themselves so topics like national security, the state of police, etc. fly right over there heads. To the extent they even notice the government at all, it's only when their EBT card fills up or when their medicaid pays for their overpriced medication.
