Changing the game

That's right. It has begun. Single-issue, full-color comics with at least one extra page of story for 24.5 percent less than the average price of the top 300-selling comics... and at your local bookstore.

Or you can buy directly from us. Not the ebook, the print edition. And if you're just curious, you can even read them free if you've got Kindle Unlimited.

It's just a trickle now, of course. But the deluge is coming. The deluge is definitely coming.

UPDATE: A helpful reader has worked out the US shipping charges. Apparently the best deals are to buy 2 paperbacks + 1-5 comics or 10-16 comics for $3.49 shipping, or 1 paperback + 1-4 comics for $3.99 shipping. We have no idea why it is less expensive to ship 10 comics than 6, but that is not our department. As for outside the USA, we expect to be able to sell directly to Europe and the UK within a month or so. No word on Australia as yet.

1 comic + 1 paperback $3.99 USPS Economy (1-2 Weeks) or $4.99 USPS Priority (1-3 Days)
1 comic + 2 paperback $3.49 USPS Economy (1-2 Weeks) or $4.99 USPS Priority (1-3 Days)

Woa there's a shiv! I've never bought comics by the issue before but I might have to take a gander just to see if they're at the humble local shop.

Blogger VD March 02, 2018 7:03 PM

I might have to take a gander just to see if they're at the humble local shop.

It's unlikely they'll be stocked yet. But you can order them there and pick them up on the next trip.

Blogger JimR March 02, 2018 7:07 PM

is it better to buy from CH, or to make the trek to whatever my local comic store is?

Also, any chance for a subscription model. At this point, I pretty much buy everything y'all sell, and give away anything I don't care for.

At this point, from us. We can't do a subscription model because our release dates are far too unpredictable at this point. We're still figuring out everything from distribution database flags to print densities.

For example, 3.00 will be our low price point, not 2.99. That one cent is what caused the delay in Amazon stocking the product for reasons unrelated to Amazon. No one has ever done some of this stuff before, so we're discovering new problems and then solving them on a weekly basis.

Blogger Unknown March 02, 2018 7:20 PM

Right on!

Blogger Starboard March 02, 2018 7:26 PM

This is excellent news. It's been an annoying week, so I'm going to engage in some retail therapy at Castalia Books Direct.

Blogger SirHamster March 02, 2018 7:26 PM

Will CH Direct provide a shipping FAQ with cost equation? Wouldn't mind buying from there, but want to figure out how to most efficiently get product. Buying a single comic and paying $2.99 for shipping is obviously not that.

Also, am amazed it is same price of $2.99 for ebook or paper copy. No brainer of paper copy for me.

Blogger Silly but True March 02, 2018 7:27 PM

Very cool! Good job and congratulations.

Blogger Daniel Bendele March 02, 2018 7:33 PM

This is incredible, Vox. I have been slowly introducing more of your stuff to friends and family, and the Castalia House/Arkhaven/Dark Legion stuff is a huge intro to the more intellectual stuff like this blog and Voxiversity. It's incredible to me how resistant people are to reality, but they're slowly coming along. Just had a conversation with my wife that went something like this:

Wife: The problem is you only talk about truth, there's no grace.
Me: It's hard to have a lot of grace for people who want to see us and our children dead.

She's not quite there, but she's coming along. Keep up the good work!

We're still working that out. But if I recall correctly, you can order up to five comics and the shipping will still be $2.99. That doesn't help much when we only have two... but that will change as soon as... let me check.

Okay, not yet, but it will change as soon as this weekend, when we publish the print edition of Steve Keen's eCONcomics.

Blogger D. March 02, 2018 7:41 PM

How about books? I was planning on grabbing the Lawdog print books. Those don't seem to be available on CH direct yet, but the equation would help customers figure out some combo of product that maximizes shipping value.

Very nice, Vox!

That's funny. My wife is often colder than I am. Of course, she went to public school, so she knows the enemy better.

Yeah, I'll work on that this weekend. The Lawdog books should be there. If they're not, I'll put them up.

Blogger Bobiojimbo March 02, 2018 8:12 PM

It feels good to post this: W00t! W00t!

Blogger VD March 02, 2018 8:13 PM

Okay, both Lawdog books are up there now. Lawdog Files was already up, but I added Lawdog African Adventures. Both are in the Castalia House Collection.

Blogger VD March 02, 2018 8:20 PM

Aerio is US-only right now, so I can't check the shipping costs. If someone can come up with a matrix for what the best way to combine a comic, two comics, or three comics with a book or two for the most efficient shipping, email me with it and I'll post it here and see if I can put it up on the store site.

Vox, I don't know if you follow Ace of Spades HQ, but I think you might find this post interesting. Maybe something to comment on when you write SJWAP.

Blogger phunktor March 02, 2018 8:53 PM

@21
Poor Ace. He'd like to just lay back and run his franchise, but he's too honest. If a little slow on the uptake.

Blogger Zaklog the Great March 02, 2018 9:21 PM

@23 Give Ace credit. He's actually catching on to how the game is changing, unlike most more "mainstream" commentators.

Blogger Jack Vibe March 02, 2018 10:10 PM

Congratulations! That's a huge step forward. I've been following closely and am excited to see how this will shape things to come.

Blogger CoolHand March 02, 2018 10:28 PM

@24 It's been quite amusing to watch Ace very slowly trek along the same path that I trod two years ago.

Took me about three months to get from there to here, while closer to two years for Ace, but at least he's finally making the trip.

It's really quite something to see the guy go from "We have to be better than that. Better to lose on principle than to win on their terms." all the way over to "Not only MUST we WIN, but we must gouge out their eyes and skull fuck them until their friends and family weep at the defilement!" in real time.

He's gettin' there, slowly but surely. Just this year he's gone from being squeamish about the word "cuck" to using it as Allah Pundit's permanent honorary title, and much much worse.

Life comes at you fast sometimes...

Blogger Revelation Means Hope March 02, 2018 11:24 PM

For those thinking long term, I would recommend buying the first few issues through your local comics book store, and comment and discuss with the employees as you come in to pick up your order.

100's of ilk doing that across the nation, and you slowly build the massive infrastructure that topples the SJW crap show.

Blogger Michael Maier March 02, 2018 11:25 PM

Ugh... the question is how many to buy for gifts??

Blogger James Jones March 03, 2018 1:04 AM

Will Aerio ever ship to the UK?

Blogger The Overgrown Hobbit March 03, 2018 1:12 AM

"Woo", with a side order of "hoo!" Good show, Arkhaven!

Blogger Tanjil Bren March 03, 2018 1:58 AM

Quite disappointed that I *couldn't* buy direct from you, actually.
The Castalia House website wouldn't consider shipping to Australia.
I bought it anyway because I love first editions.
I'm just wondering why Aus' customers are a problem for Castalia?
Or is it the manufacturer that has the problem?

Check your email. Waiting for power to be restored here on the East Coast after we were hit by a Bomb Cyclone.

Save money buy 10-16 copies of comicbooks at a time shipping only $3.49 USPS Economy where 6-9 comicbooks shipping is $3.99 USPS Economy.

And people said you weren't going to be technically "disruptive".
People who weren't paying attention, that is.

Blogger VD March 03, 2018 8:28 AM

And people said you weren't going to be technically "disruptive".

To be fair, even I had no idea how disruptive we have the potential to be. Look at Rebel Dead Revenge. Not even in print or Comixology yet and it's already #1 and #2 in one category and the #1 and #2 New Release in several others.

I think the landscape is going to look very different in 18 months. If we sell 5k copies of our comics, that will shake things up. If we sell 50k copies, that will alter the industry for good.

Blogger Killua March 03, 2018 8:43 AM

Blogger tuberman March 03, 2018 9:09 AM

Yep, I'm expecting this to be a super disruptive force. I've been waiting for this. Was already deeply into reading Castilia House books.

Blogger Freelance Teacher March 03, 2018 9:29 AM

Looks like I'll start buying comic books again, after a long hiatus. Too bad I can't recommend your House to my local guy, he went under 3 months ago - Thanks SJW Marvel. I'll order directly or go to B&N.

Blogger Ahärôwn March 03, 2018 12:03 PM

Does the Castalia store ship to Canada, or will it? You mentioned other countries, but no mention of Canada. I would prefer to buy from you, rather than going through Amazon all of the time.

Blogger VD March 03, 2018 12:04 PM

Does the Castalia store ship to Canada, or will it?

I have no idea. Check it out and let us know.

Blogger Ahärôwn March 03, 2018 12:27 PM

It looks like it does.

There's a 15% customs fee, which isn't bad, considering I would otherwise pay 13% HST here in Ontario anyway. Also, it looks like I can order all of the print books this way, even ones that would not otherwise be available here.

I think I will be placing an order soon :D

Blogger VD March 03, 2018 12:34 PM
