Battlefield 5 and GamerGate 2

This Darkstream starts poorly, but bear with it as it appears I am finally beginning to figure out how this livestreaming thing actually works.

This is Battlefield 5. The trailer was released quite recently and a couple of the striking things about it are the way in which that we have this figure here. At first you're not sure what the time frame is, then you realize there are World War II tanks, some of the weapons are also WWII-era, and then you realize, wait a minute, is that a woman riding on a Jeep on the battlefield?

Now what is a jeep doing suddenly surrounded by all of these tanks, and is that a... what kind of plane is that? I can't tell. It looked for a second like it might be some sort of Messerschmitt, like a Messerschmitt 109, but if you recall your World War II history then you realize that Messerschmitt 109s were mostly used in air-to-air combat, they were not used as ground support, and you certainly were not shooting them down with machine guns. And so you know what we're seeing here...  and that was, if I recall correctly, that was actually a V1 buzz bomb rocket, which again you would not use on the battlefield, okay, they were used for bombing civilian centers.

Oh, and here we get rescued by a woman, a woman with a claw no less, interesting. So, a lot of people were not terribly impressed with this and for good reason. What is the purpose of this game, what are they trying to demonstrate? You know, I understand, I think we all understand, that an arcade game is not meant to be a serious World War II combat simulation okay? I played Modern Warfare 2 through Level 70 Elite and I also played two previous Battlefields, and you know, the interesting thing about this is that were we're seeing the same sort of behavior from the producers that we were seeing when GamerGate first got started and what we're seeing is the appeal to possibility.

So what SJWs do is they come in and then they begin messing around with the history. They begin messing around with whatever they can in order to get the point across that they want to get across, and so it doesn't matter whether you're talking about a fantasy game, it doesn't matter whether you're talking about a World War II game. What was particularly egregious about this is that we all had the same response when they first came out with the remake of the old Dungeons & Dragons games [Beamdog's Balder's Gate II etc] but the argument then was that it's fantasy, you know, it's  fantasy, so what does it matter? If you can have dragons, and you have flying dragons and dragons breathing fire and all this sort of thing, well, why can't you have women who are just as good at fighting as men?

Well, the reason is because it's not consistent with the story lines, it's also not consistent with what the audience wants, and so now what we're seeing is that they're getting even more egregious, now they are putting these women in the battlefield and they are making them more heroic and more lethal than the men as this particular trailer demonstrated, and they're using the excuse of saying, well you know there were WACS and there were WAVS and there were Russian snipers and all that sort of thing, and that's all true, but none of that excuses what they're doing. All they're trying to do is come up with some sort of ex post facto rationalization for what they're doing.

I've played dozens of World War II-related games, you can look on my shelf right there, you can see I'm an Advanced Squad Leader player. At no point in time in the extremely complicated Advanced Squad Leader system - where they literally count the precise numbers and probability of the appearance on the battlefield of the most obscure German, Romanian, and Russian tanks - at no point did they ever see any need to simulate women. I mean they've got everything from the late war  German militias that were called "the stomach battalions" because they were made of young kids and men who had previously been disqualified from service and they even got that accounted for My son and I are about to play Decision at Elst, which is the the first ASL Starter Kit campaign game, and they've actually got special rules for steeples because it's important for the actual physical characteristics of the territory where that was found... again they're going to that level of detail and yet there's been no need whatsoever to figure out how to simulate women in combat in World War II.

So you know, this is a new level of egregious, this is a new level of SJW onslaught, this is a new offensive by SJWs in the game industry.

This is an attempt to rewrite history because most people know nothing and aren't taught anything about history. Their knowledge of anything comes almost exclusively from trashy consumerist pop culture.

The Assassin's Creed series was actually infinitely worse and more evil in its historical revisionism. The game is essentially about how Christians/Europeans were exclusively responsible for every evil in the world, and Muslims were the good and innocent saving the world from the evil white Christo-fascist bigots. One of the games even commits blasphemy straight out of the Talmud where it claims that Jesus was a magician who studied the dark arts in Egypt, and this black magic is what the Knight's Templar uses to gain power.

IRL, the US Military is still pushing young women into combat arms roles, even though they have been proven to be incapable of handling those roles, and are known to be actively disruptive to the men just by there mere presence. The service chiefs are ignoring the President and the SecDef to push the women/tranny/gay agenda.

Trump's main failing is that he didn't fire every single person put into office by Obama and Bush.

The offense isn't that there's a gal in a WW2 game, it's that she's there because it's mandatory to achieve total saturation.

Don't hold your breath and hope for another GG. The gaming community at large seems to have been completely blue-pilled. If the Battlefield V trailer can still muster a 50%+ approval rating, how could you hope to spark any larger rebellion against the SJW convergance? The original Gamergate has lost all steam at this point and is no longer effective.

At this point I think the best bet is to just create a seperate video game industry, the old one is rotten to the core.

How hard is this to understand, my grandfather's fought in the army and the army air corps and my grand mothers stayed home and did what they could here.

I could give a rat's ass if it was a fantasy game. That's fantasy but my grandfather didn't get a bronze star by being rescued by catwoman.

If you think this is bad, you should see what they did to BattleTech.

Of all the things one could take away from Battlefield 5’s big reveal, a few decided to focus on DICE’s inclusion of women.

A certain segment of Battlefield fans have taken to criticising DICE for showing women prominently in the trailer, and on the cover of the Battlefield 5 standard edition, crying ‘historical accuracy.’

Oskar Gabrielson, general manager at DICE, addressed these comments once and for all. “First, let me be clear about one thing. Player choice and female playable characters are here to stay,” Gabrielson said on Twitter.

Gabrielson further explained that being able to play as a character you identity with is important to DICE, just as it is important for the developer to offer players customisation options.

“We want Battlefield 5 to represent all those who were a part of the greatest drama in human history, and give players choice to choose and customize the characters they play with.

“Our commitment as a studio is to do everything we can to create games that are inclusive and diverse. We always set out to push boundaries and deliver unexpected experiences. But above all, our games must be fun!”

Okay that last line was just hilarious. "Above all our, games must be fun!"

Translation from SJWspeak, "YOU ARE ORDERED TO ENJOY OUR GAMES THE WAY WE TELL YOU TO ENJOY THEM!!!"

It's the same attitude that is killing Overwatch.

Or for that matter Star Wars. There was a ton of doubling down at Lucasfilm the day before the release of Soylo.

"Our continued and debilitating obsessions with our childhood passions was caveman masculine until the Dames ruined it."

--Pablo Hidalgo, Asshole who works still works at Lucasfilms.

Sorry to have brought Gender Identity politics into...
NOPE. Not sorry AT ALL 'cause I think the GALAXY
George gave birth to in '77 is big enough for
EVERYONE: straight, gay, black, white, brown, Twi'lek,
Sulustan, Wookie, DROID and anything inbetween."

--Jon Kasdan, Asshole who wrote the script for Soylo a Soy Wars Story.

Scalzi himself could have written that last one.

And I think many people will play the game despite their reservations. And maybe learn something about either history or themselves.

Based on my previous observations of everything from Marvel to NASCAR, their revenues will fall 20 percent in the first year. Then it will get worse.

We win battles but it never stops the SJW. Even with the NFL's news rule on kneeling, the SJW will just bide their time and launch a new assault. It is a war of attrition because the right wants to be left alone and is not as fanatical.

Blogger Brick Hardslab May 28, 2018 9:56 AM

How the hell do you, "learn something from history" when the history is false?

"What did you learn playing Battlefield?"

"A woman destroyed Hitler's tank with her cat claws then shook hands with the woman Soviet sniper in the liberated Berlin. After rescuing all the Jewish women from Nazi concentration camps."

"What about the Jewish men?"

"What now?"

A smart company wouldn't let it effect game-play, though since this is EA, that isn't happening. I guess we can expect a struggles session or two in the campaign.

Another GG-grade pushback ain't happening. Game industry is as converged as they get, both quantitatively and qualitatively, more so than say some corners of genre fiction. Gamers themselves either don't care or got tired of it.
Myself, I'm not even playing new games anymore, player-made content for Doom 2 and old Heroes of Might & Magic satisfies most of my needs.

Blogger Johnny May 28, 2018 10:56 AM

The clip was self evidently done for maximum motion and excitement, with nominal interest in real battlefield conditions.

The plane was a 109 You could see for sure by the shape of the glass area after it was down. While an air superiority weapon, surely they would be used in the heat of the moment for ground strafing.

Otherwise, you know, whatever. Apparently the thing is an arcade game.

Many long years ago there was a TV series that featured a bunch of GI's who drove jeeps and would do things like take out German tank units. As best I can recall their big weapon was mounted 50 cal. machine gun. It didn't last. I guess they actually managed to underestimate the intelligence of the American public.

They know what they are doing and they even believe their own propaganda. Many comments on his twitter feed talk about how the game is real history and what we were taught is a whitewashed version of history.

They are obfuscating facts to suit their agenda.

Blogger Johnny May 28, 2018 11:25 AM

The thing about these people is that they are not actually for the groups they promote, they are against the people they deprecated, and that is the rest of the male population.

Favorable treatment from a lefty is actually a covert insult. All it shows is that they don't regard those favored as serious competition in the power struggle.

Too true, unfortunately. I was PISSED reading the New Testament for myself for the first time. True to how Vox wrote about Him here (the shock of which is what spurred me to read it) Jesus was sharp-tongued and direct. A MAN of strength. Not the milquetoast simp that I had "learned" about from the world at large.

With the wussy version the world wants you to see of Him, it's hard to imagine the Romans or the Pharisees caring what He did, let alone conspiring to kill Him.

@37 Michael Maier

The "Second Coming" is Jesus coming back scarred, tattooed and right a massive horse, all to destroy the world. That little bit gets lost in the age of "hippie Jesus".

In the Gospels, Jesus almost never answers questions, mocks the Pharisees relentlessly, makes fools of them, calls them names and stomps all over their pieties. He eventually clears the temple using weaponry, causes massive demonstrations to break out, ruins everyone's schedule and keeps showing up to every party in the region to teach people.

Then, there's one of my personal, favorite passages.

"And when his disciples James and John saw it, they said, “Lord, do you want us to tell fire to come down from heaven and consume them?” But he turned and rebuked them. And they went on to another village." Luke 9:54-56 ESV

No one ever stops to look at the assumptions in that passage.

1) No where is it ever assumed they could not "tell fire to come down from heaven and consume them".
2) They clearly knew it was an option.
3) Jesus was having none of it that day.
4) And they just moved on.
5) And this wasn't all that important to the writer of the Gospel of Luke.

Here's a fun prayer: "Lord, grant me the power to call down fire from heaven to consume Your enemies".

The Bible, presented in its nature & read with care, is quite clear in its intentions, what God is trying to tell you, and ways to understand it. The difficult stuff isn't the highly technical & referential theology, but the simple application of the things you know you should be doing differently. That's where the modern church has failed the Lord.

I revisited Rome Total War II this weekend, decided to play a campaign as Massila (ancient Greek colony in south France). Apparently they have made some efforts to bring womyn power to the game had two random events where women decided to refuse the family's plans for them. One didn't want to become a priestess (or an arranged marriage) and was a highly skilled architect... Knowing the warped view of history that is prevalent more and more in games I tried the anachronistic/liberal choice of letting her liberate herself. Got a character for my party that is still useless - I haven't taken enough provinces to see if I can add her as a governor of one and she can't be a general (at least not yet). They also switched out some minor power leaders for women leaders instead. By the end of the weekend I was back to playing a highly modded Fallout 4.

If he'd fired them, there'd be no proof of the institutional rot in Washington. People have held great faith in the inherent "goodness" of others, especially those who comprise our government. That those public servants who work directly for President Trump have come right out in public with their intention to #Resist his direction has alerted a fair number of people that no one working in government can be trusted.

Sometimes the only way to reach the goal is to do it the hard way.
