Darkstream: Trump, Iran, and the Fake Opposition

A partial transcript of last night's Darkstream, which addressed President Trump withdrawing the USA from the multilateral Iran nuclear treaty before discussing the anointment of the new Fake Opposition by The New York Times.

First of all is the big news of the day which is of course the fact that the God-Emperor has trashed the Iran nuke deal. Now I am not even going to attempt to try to figure out what this means, what the implications are, all that sort of thing. You know some people are saying, "Oh, Trump is doing this to go to war with Iran for Israel" other people are following Qanon and seeing this as being related to draining the global swamp, and so there's a lot of stuff going on. There's a lot of potential interpretations.

I'm not interested in getting into any of that because I don't know, and so the important thing to keep in mind is that President Trump has earned our trust, and the important thing to keep in mind is that we don't know what's going on. We don't know what's really going on so don't overreact, just wait and see. You know, we all remember when oh we're going to war in Syria, oh we're going to war on the Korean Peninsula, well, neither of those things happened and now neither of those things look even remotely likely to happen, so you know, for me, my gut instinct is that this is something that Obama pursued, this is something that the European Union was involved in, and therefore it's probably a good thing that that the USA is pulled out of it.

So relax, kick back, watch the news, don't overreact, see what happens. That, I think, is that is the correct way to look at it.

again... He ran on bashing this deal and pulling out was a campaign promise. He fulfilled that promise. To not pull out of it after all of that talk would've looked really dumb... and it would've been an Eff You to the base which very much thought this deal was terrible.

Why are people complaining about Trump doing precisely what he said he was going to do?

Trump is always either closing a deal, or setting up his negotiating position for the next one. He did this from the moment he started campaigning, and he has been consistently effective. At this stage only a fool would assume he has made an actually stupid move. You don't need to be a genius to spot the pattern!

Blogger Keyser Soze May 09, 2018 8:35 AM

Vox is right. To even speculate what GE has to deal with, with what he knows about the deal, who did the deal and who wants the deal to continue? We can barely scratch the surface of the fetid swamp water, let alone plumb the depths of the Deep State/ International Globo-Homo network. And the man (GE) has my trust. Who in the last 50 years has done as much for America as he? Who is becoming the Indispensable Man? Who has the best chance to eradicate the institutionalized malfeasance that's been built upon us?? The odds are still against him, but if he pulls it off.......Rushmore

@1 Nate

It's Wednesday. Of course they'll complain about Trump doing something. They do it every day ending in "Y".

Blogger dtungsten May 09, 2018 8:51 AM

Nate and wreckage have it right. This is obviously a way to get a better negotiating position. The same way he did with NAFTA, TPP, (and Mexico will pay for the wall), the "bigger button" tweet, and so on. Vox is exactly right, about it having many potential interpretations. Which is precisely the place from which you want to negotiate.

Blogger Looking Glass May 09, 2018 8:51 AM

As for the "Iran Deal", it was never a deal. It was just giving them what they wanted & requiring a Dog & Pony Show to make it look like it did something. Boeing is going to be annoyed, as they signed a few plane deals.

The real action is the complete collapse of the Iranian currency. They've clearly turned the Hatchetmen on to destroy the currency. For the first time since all of the talk about removing Iran, there's actually action being taken to change the regime. It'll work, which means it isn't an American operation, haha.

Blogger Nate May 09, 2018 8:59 AM

Regarding draining the swamp: here is a list of some high level DOJ and FBI personnel that have been removed or reassigned in the past 18 months. And no, this is not merely "change of administration" stuff, as usually personnel in positions like this merely move to other areas of the government. Note: when I say "removed" they were either fired, or given the opportunity to resign rather than being fired.

Sally Yates - acting AG (attorney general) DOJ - removed
Bruce Ohr - associate deputy AG DOJ - demoted twice
Peter Kazdik - assistant AG DOJ - removed
John Carlin - assistant AG – head of National Security Division DOJ - removed
David Laufman - chief of National Security Division Counterintelligence DOJ - removed
Mary McCord - assistant AG – acting head of National Security Division DOJ - removed
(something was seriously wrong in the NSD)
Rachel Brand - associate AG DOJ - removed

James Comey - director FBI - removed
Josh Campbell - special assistant to FBI director James Comey - removed
Andrew McCabe - deputy director FBI - removed
Mike Kortan - assistant director FBI - removed
James Rybicki - chief of staff FBI - removed
James Baker - general counsel FBI - removed
Lisa Page - attorney and Andrew McCabe staffer FBI - reassigned, then removed
Peter Strzok - deputy assistant director counter-intelligence FBI - reassigned
Stephan Laycock - special agent in charge (SAC) of counter-intelligence FBI - demoted

Note that the areas of counter-intelligence and national security seem to have the most removals.

Anything that Globalists support should automatically be suspect. If a Globalist says, "water is wet", don't believe it till you verify for yourself.

The reality of politics, is that sometimes to secure the things you need you have to accept some things you don't like.

We need Nationalism(Alt Right) to triumph over Globalism(Cultural Marxism). 'The Wall' is not the goal, but the symbol of our victory.

Netanyahu's presentation last week showed that the mullahs had been secretly developing nuclear weapons. They passed uranium and intel on to NK as well. Obama's cash payment was for this.

The Iranian people are almost ready to throw off their rulers. They've been carefully planning mass movements of people and neutralizing the Praetorian Guard for when the time comes. They have the full backing of the GCC and GEOTUS.

Peace has come to NK. Peace will come to the Middle East. And then right before the midterms, the storm will break over D.C.

By the way, the current #qanon is a bunch of script kiddies. Ignore.

I know some commenters on this blog have dissed Scott Adams from time to time, but he is correct: the GE is the best persuader AND negotiator alive on the planet today -- and probably one of the greatest of all time.

He not only KNOWs about every persuasion and negotiating technique, he knows how to deploy them for maximum effect. The skill level is off the charts.

He knows how to "pace and lead."

He knows how to "low ball."

He knows how to apply leverage.

He knows how to "counterpunch."

He knows how to work from extremes.

He accurately assesses his opposites' "target" and "reservation."

He gets his supporters and his opposites to "think past the sale."

As someone who has spent a lot of time and intellectual effort in the discipline of negotiations. I find the GE's use of all the tools in the toolkit absolutely jaw-dropping.

US power is in relative decline, so it makes some sense to get the best possible deals now rather than waiting till the Chinese have veto power.
If you look at Trump's maneuvers in this light, they start to look smart. I see it as negotiating the end of the American (neoliberal) Empire to the best advantage of the American people.

@22: Some kind of paywall for the Boston Globe article. From what I could read, it's an analogy of US/China current year and Britain/Germany 1914.

What's interesting to note is that British tariff rates fell consistently over the 19th century. In 1913 British net customs revenue as a percentage of net import values, i.e. tariff rate, was 5.4%. In 1850 it was 25.3% From pro-free trade paper:
http://www.ehs.org.uk/dotAsset/11cabff5-3f6a-4d69-bba0-1086d69be6c7.pdf

Ever freer trade did not lead to peace. Good fences make good neighbors.

Yep, and I believe we are seeing the beginning of the end of the revolving door for these people. Some may jump out for a while and get new positions, think Clapper working as a CNN talking head, but this is coming to a halt. Before these people got caught with their fingers grasping aggressively into illegal cookie jars, get a slap on the hands, and removed to an even higher paid position on the sly. This is being exposed, and being stopped.

Well, to be fair Nate having a Republican President keep his promises is a new thing. It could be that there simply shocked by it happening for the first time in decades.

@JaimeInTexas: 'Nut n Yahoo', is passed his freshness date and just trying to stay relevant. While I would like us to normalize relations with Iran, it must be remembered that 'nations don't have friends, only interests'.

Right now it appears that it is in our interests to make nice with the house of Saud. Which, I should imagine, is a bit like swimming in a latrine pit.

In the world there are three presidents that matter. President Trump(USA), President Putin(Russia) and President Xi(China). Each of these men want to make their respective countries great. Each has no obvious reason to prevent the other two from succeeding.

I would like to throw out the possibility, that public statements to the contrary, these three presidents are cooperating closely with one another. That, in addition to other goals, each sees an advantage in playing the Sunni and Shia Muslim sects against one another.

Just a thought.

I think a lot of us get jaded by the infighting. But VD hit the nail on the head with JP. IT was an important and necessary takedown bc JP has become so influential to people on our side. But the tide is turning. The Alex Jones appearance gave VD the platform to speak the truth to thousands. Hopefully there will be more appearances.

Also, JP is getting cozier and cozier with Shapiro, which further corroborates everything VD has been saying. Shapiro is trash.

There is certainly room in this world for three regional powers, but that would require us easing up on the global hegemony thing. Trump might be willing to go there.

Probably President Putin(Russia) and President Xi(China) find it awkward that they must share a continent. I suspect that either would like to team up with Trump to restrain the other, and neither can allow the other to get too chummy with Trump.

There is an old story to the effect that Brezhnev offered to Nixon that he would nuke China if Nixon would not interfere. According to the story, Nixon put his foot down, and his rapprochement with China was partly due to Chinese gratitude for not teaming up with the Russians.

Blogger electricsheeple May 09, 2018 11:43 AM

Shapiro has been a dishonest little weasel for years. JP claims Faith Goldy can't be on a panel because she had a civil conversation with Andrew Anglin. I can't take anyone serious who cozies up with Shapiro.

Blogger RobertT May 09, 2018 11:52 AM

Mis-direction is as rare as raptors in politics. Most politicians lie about all the good they're going to do. Trump freaks out his base with mis-direction, then he freaks out the MSM when he reverses course and does what he promised. Double barreled freak out. If you have the nerves for it, it's great theater.

Yes. That's an excellent point. Add the issues VD raised (EUSSR and D'Won Hopium were all for it - with both Macron and Merkel pitching to save it) and I see no reason at all to be annoyed by it. There are plenty of other things to be annoyed over (Gorsuch's cuck on immigration, Sessions sitting on his arse for over a year, Porkulus, gun control, etc.) but this is certainly not one of them. Not even the Syrian attacks - though initially somewhat alarming as they appeared to have been intended to push us into war with Russia turned out to be nothingburgers. Indeed the net effect may well have been exactly the opposite of this.

Suggestion for a Voxiversity: The nature of fake opposition strategies, how they work and how to spot them.

The IDW now endorsed by Carlos Slim's blog is certainly a strategy that has been used a lot over the years (e.g. William F. Cuckley 3.0) but it's not the only one. There's also the whole Anglin/Spencer type of operation. These too are designed to ultimately work for the against us - but in a different way. Unlike NRO and IDW, Anglin and Spencer have both been de-platformed and attacked rather than mentioned as 'acceptable opposition'. They clearly 'unacceptable' but much like Fred Phelps they're the kind of opposition who the enemy would need to invent if they didn't find them to cultivate and covertly support. Going back further, one thinks of George Lincoln Rockwell and David Duke. There are no doubt multiple strategies associated with generating fake opposition, so an overview of the basic ones and how to spot them would be very useful. Note that despite being de-platformed and even physically attacked (Spencer), both seem to always land on their feet and miraculously find sources of funding.
