The Bullfeathers party

They've been roundly defeated by Donald Trump in the GOP and sent to the back of the bus in the Democratic Party. So, the NeverTrumpers, formerly the Neoconservatives, are now looking to create a third party. Since Israel First isn't really appropriate for a party outside Israel, perhaps they could take a page from the American history that has absolutely nothing to do with them or their immigrant forebears and go with the Bullfeathers brand.
Bill Kristol has not given up on defeating Donald Trump.

He tried and failed once before to recruit an independent candidate to challenge Trump in 2016. Now, with 2020 on his mind, Kristol badly wants a Republican to primary the president. The conservative commentator has been traveling to Iowa and New Hampshire, running a campaign for a campaign, and evangelizing on behalf of a cause that’s less about policy and more, to him, about morals.

“I have a feeling,” Kristol said Wednesday at Politics & Eggs, a can’t-miss speaking engagement for White House prospects at Saint Anselm College, “that we are now entering ... a turbulent era, when the character of both parties is up for grabs.”

He’s quick to note that challenges to sitting presidents had big consequences in other turbulent periods: In 1968, Eugene McCarthy and Bobby Kennedy chased then-president Lyndon Johnson from the race at the height of anti–Vietnam War sentiment; in 1976, Ronald Reagan nearly beat then-president Gerald Ford, a preview of the conservative Reagan Revolution to come; and in 1980, Ted Kennedy challenged then-president Jimmy Carter and helped define the liberal direction of the Democratic Party.

And so, armed with this history and fresh polling (Morning Consult and Politico found 38% of Republican voters want Trump to face a primary challenge), Kristol made his case this week to dozens of influential New Hampshire activists during a breakfast buffet beneath blown-up photos of past presidential candidates campaigning in the nation’s first primary state.

Many Republicans who voted for Trump in the general election last time around did so, Kristol asserts, out of concern over Supreme Court appointments and because they hated Hillary Clinton more.
I'm told Ben Shapiro is "wildly popular" with young conservatives. And he'll be 35 by 2020. I hear he's quite the fearsome debater too. It's not like he'd be any less serious a presidential candidate than David French or Evan McMuffin was. Why not put him on the Bullfeathers ticket? And pair him with a woman of equal appeal to Left and Right, the whip-smart Jennifer Rubin, as Vice-President.

And who did Morning Consult and Politico poll anyhow, the National Review staff? Donald Trump is not only going to win reelection easily, he is going to wind up his second term more popular, and more lionized, than Ronald Reagan.

The big deal coming up for Trump is the fall election. If Republicans lose ground, not so good and the future will be up for grabs. If Trump has coat tails and they get a little traction, it will be deep doo doo for the Deep State

It's getting to the point of me questioning Kristals sanity. Surely there has to be someone(Soros, GOPe, CofC) quietly backing these charges at windmills. If that's the case, what is the worth of your reputation, and dignity? A lifetime sinecure of being the sockpuppet opponent for the Looney left?

what percentage of republican voters will vote for a "nevertrumper" candidate?

Blogger Garuna May 25, 2018 11:54 AM

Trump has about 90% approval among Republicans which is about as high as it gets. And now he's gaining ground with others. Polls currently put him anywhere between mid-40% and early-50% in general approval. Above Obama at the same point in his Presidency. But unlike Obama who was trending downwards, the trend for Trump is upwards. His approval has even buoyed the Republican party to close the gap against the Democrats for the midterm elections. One poll has the Republicans now 6 points ahead, when in the same polls they were 11 points behind not too long ago. It is possible that due to Trump's success and ever increasing popularity, the Republicans may retain full control of Congress and may even pick up some seats in the Senate, as there are many vulnerable Democrat Senators in places where Trump won in 2016 and continues to be popular. The blue wave is already negated and it could even potentially replaced with some red gains if Trump's performance keeps up. A historical achievement against all odds.

All of these numbers will get even better as Trump renegotiates NAFTA, solves North Korea, and perhaps also passes immigration reform, prison reform, infrastructure, and a potential solution to the Iran problem like he's doing for North Korea. Not to mention, the Trump economy is very healthy and has been growing at levels that were declared impossible during the Obama era. Employment is great. Wages are rising at a better rate. Trump approval on the economy alone is landslide great. And as many people say: "It's about the economy, stupid."

I don't know how any reasonable person can look at this data and think it's a good idea to primary challenge Trump in 2020. By then, he's likely to have a monster 95-100% approval with Republicans. All it's going to do is energize the base to purge the cuckservatives. But then again, if cuckservatives were smart, they wouldn't be cuckservatives.

Blogger Garuna May 25, 2018 11:57 AM

Trump is a fantastic and effective President. And it is the truth that barring some unforeseen catastrophe, he is likely to be considered one of American's all time greats by 2024. The accomplishments are piling up and the polls are reflecting changing opinions in his favor. Don't ever let the media or the cucks convince you otherwise.

A large number of Republican voters want to see Trump primaried so they can watch him bitch slap some stuffed shirts again. 1/3 of Republican voters want to see someone they like primaried just so they don't get too comfortable, so 36% is essentially meaningless.

P.S. SPYGATE! The Russian hoax will end with draining at least some part of the swamp. Mueller being a dud, the Russia hoax dissipating, and some swamp draining will also have a tremendous impact. The IG report is being called a blockbuster that will shake Washington to its core by people who are aware of its contents. It could end with the appointment of a second special counsel against the swamp. The anti-democracy corruption is likely to be one of the top issues for the midterms. And it will work in Trump's favor bigly.

I'm gonna say that poll is straight up fake or an honest outlier. It doesn't match other polls in terms of Trump's general approval and Trump's approval with Republicans, which is very high and trending upwards.

"I think Bill’s one of those guys who actually has character and integrity,” said the friend, who requested anonymity to avoid alienating Trump allies. “And I think those are the people who have had the toughest time with Trump on our side. Bill just can’t stomach it.”

There it is -- THE real reason Kristol, et. al, hate Trump. The reaction is visceral, not intellectual.

It's the feelz.

Forget policy, forget accomplishment, forget all the stuff that really matters. For Kristol and his ilk, Trump is just a TV reality star buffoon from the wrong side of the tracks, with his gold plated bathrooms and trophy wives.

They hate him because he is not one of THEM. But they fail to realize that not being one of THEM is the reason he occupies the Oval Office and will likely do so for two terms.

Incidentally, that is by far his most disliked video on YT. I continue to support Trump, but he really shook my confidence when he caved to the Neocons and did that strike in Syria. Hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars gone in an instant for no discernible gain.

I'm sick and tired of my country spending blood and treasure in the middle east. As far as I'm concerned, the Russians can have all their oil if they want it.

This notion that Israel is "our greatest ally" over there really bugs me. Alliances are traditionally formed among military equals for the purpose of repelling a mutual threat. What, precisely, is Israel protecting the US from? There's maybe four countries on earth that would pose an existential threat to the United States, and not one of them is in the middle east.

Clearly, Ben believed he knew and understood more about Middle-eastern peoples and cultures than business people or military veterans with, say, 20 years experience living and doing business in Middle-eastern culture.

We're supposed to listen to Ben Shapiro for what reason?

John Nolte at breitbart argues that the last vestiges of boomer 60s authority has been demolished in the past week over their refusal to rally behind Trump in the Obamaspygate investigation.

So the boomers, who were all about fighting deep state spy and control, are now completely fine with elections being decided by Muellerrackets.

We knew the boomers had their heads up their a$$es when it came to raising kids, immigration, economics. But to now condone blatant usurpation of the democratic process puts them in coocooland.

"He’s quick to note that challenges to sitting presidents had big consequences in other turbulent periods:"

Mr. Horsecrap seems to pick bad and exaggerated examples. McCarthy did not chase anyone out of the White House in 1968, neither did RFK. Ted Kennedy did not re-define the direction of Liberalism in the Democrat party in 1980. Gerald Ford was never elected president (or as vice president) so "nearly" defeating him in the primaries does not amount to much.

Kristol left out my favorite example from the 1952 election....Senator Estes Kefauver won practically every primary race (12 out of 15), even defeating sitting president Truman (who actually dropped out of the race). The Truman supporters got such a case of the red-ass that they stopped the nomination of Kefauver at the convention in favor of someone who had not been in any primary contest (or entered the race at all)....
Adlai Stevenson....who managed to lose gracefully to Dwight Eisenhower (who had stolen the nomination from Taft at the convention).

What his list of (poor and overblown) examples shows is when the PARTY becomes divided over a sitting president, the election will give the opposing party control of the White House. So if Billy Kristol had any good sense....which he does not....he would be feverishly recruiting his favorite Democrat to run against Trump in 2020. The MOST that the NeverTrumpers can hope for is to create enough of a stink in 2020 to give the election to the Democrat nominee. They tried to do it in 2016 and failed. Now they want to try it again in 2020...maybe even peel off a few million from Democrat fat-cats to pay for it. No doubt the likes of Soros and the Koch brothers would be happy to pay for their rebellion.

"When I think of all the failed Republican candidates I voted for as the less bad choice, out of party unity, the gall of these "pricipled" conservatives NeverTrumping still disgusts me."

Right there with you. I was a dedicated reader of NRO for two decades starting in the late 90's after I graduated from college. Every election year, it was the same:

"Well, he (McCain, Bush, Dole, Romney) isn't perfect, but we've got to band together because, hey, look over here at all the galling wins the Left has stacked up (on our watch)! Got to get someone in there who will push back!"

Of course, again and again these candidates would get rolled in the general election for being:

1. Limp-wristed (McCain backing off Obama, Romney allowing himself to be demonized for having f***ing BINDERS, Dole for being unwilling to make common cause with the Gingrich wing in Congress)
2. Uninspiring (McCain's crotchety nature, Romney's boy scout leader demeanor, Dole's very essence)
3. Fatally flawed (McCain on immigration and his expose to the financial crisis, Romney's spearheading of 'Romneycare', Dole for simply being old and out of touch)

Didn't matter. We conservatives had our marching orders: "[limp-wristed, uninspiring, fatally flawed candidate] is our man! Like him or not, he's our ONLY HOPE!"

Then 2016 happened. And Trump started winning primaries. He started gaining a lot of media attention. He trounced anointed successors like Jeb* and Rubio. Excitement started to build. What did the conservative establishment do? Fall in line behind the obvious candidate for the good of the party once it became clear that Cruz was finished? You know, what they have been telling rank-and-file conservatives to do for decades?

Nope.

They fought Trump tooth and nail. Tried to upend the convention. Attempted a 3rd party run to scuttle his candidacy and throw the election to Hillary, of all people, the personification of Leftist elite fascism.

I will never forgive folks like Kristol and the conservative establishment ensconced in their publishing houses and think tanks in the belly of the Beltway/New York axis. They were happy to make us all eat a poison pill in prior elections but they flatly REFUSE to do the same when the hoi polloi decide they want a turn to pick their man.

*Who in their right mind thought it was good idea to kick the presidency back over to the Bush family? I mean, after all veritable tidal wave of crap W endured from the Left and the national hangover of the Iraq war, who thought it was a good idea to try and elect ANOTHER Bush? The Washington Generals are doing everything they can to make sure nobody will vote for them in the fall - especially Trump's base. Both amnesty (DACA) and gun control bills are on deck and being pushed fast so the cancerous zombie from Sun City can sign on before going back to the ranch to urge on a hawk to eat his dog. The gun control bill will be like the one just enacted in FL. Any neighbor or relative can meet in a secret proceeding with a blackrobe who will issue an order to take your guns because they deem you a threat - no evidence required. SWAT comes and takes everything. If they don't murder you (oafcuckers having a license to kill) you might even get them back if you're willing to spend six figures and several year in the "justice" system.

"We knew the boomers had their heads up their a$$es when it came to raising kids, immigration, economics. But to now condone blatant usurpation of the democratic process puts them in coocooland."

There is no end to boomer idiocy and greed because its based on leftardism.

I was gonna say, those upsets Kristol mentioned more closely resembled the LAST election rather than the next one.

"Since Israel First isn't really appropriate for a party outside Israel, perhaps they could take a page from the American history that has absolutely nothing to do with them or their immigrant forebears and go with the Bullfeathers brand."

Are the neocons really Israel first? It seems to me that they actually hate people they perceive as enemies of the Jews (e.g. Russia) more than they love Israel. If Kristol's first priority were Israel, wouldn't he be rejoicing that we have the most pro-Israel president in decades?

As someone stated above, the hatred is visceral, not logical or merely political.

No, to be primaried means for an incumbent office holder to have an opponent, a serious one, with money and backing, in his party's primary. It's a uniquely American concept.

Bingo. Having someone seriously run against them helps keep them cucking out, at least in theory. McCain is proof that it doesn't always work.

Before Trump, I was for Adam Kokesh 2020. Post-Trump, I realize that's a terrible idea. I'm all for shrinking the government, but I'm not for open borders like Kokesh is. The real question isn't 2020, but 2024 and beyond.

It will be exciting to see who will field the most dysfunctional candidates, the Democrats or the putative third party?

The slate of potential Democrat candidates is enough to make you giddy: Elizabeth "Pocahantus" Warren, Kamela Harris, Keith Ellison, Hillary "third time's the charm" Clinton, Bernie Sanders...plus a host of lesser known left wing loons, all essentially running on nothing but sheer hatred for President Trump and his voting base.

And what is this third party running on?

Splitting the vote of Trump haters may not be a great election platform for the Progressives, but if the ultimate result is to split apart the coalition of victimhood in a flurry of mutual recriminations and politically collapse the Progressive project, then maybe it is actually for the greater good.
