Big Brother's retarded little brother

If I was not married, Mark Zuckerberg is literally the last person on Earth I would want knowing about my dating habits:
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg gave the keynote address at the F8 developer conference in San Jose on Tuesday, introducing, among other innovations, the company's new dating features.

"We are announcing a new set of features coming soon around dating," Zuckerberg told conference attendees, lamenting that his company has been late to the dating game.

"This is going to be for building real, long-term relationships, not just hookups," he declared.

Zuckerberg didn't explain how he plans to prevent "hookups," but he did say that the dating service will be "opt-in" and "if you want you can make a dating profile. We have designed this with privacy and safety in mind from the beginning," he assured conference attendees. "We're excited to start rolling this out soon." He assured users that no one will see their information without express permission. Instead, he said, Facebook will suggest possible dating prospects.
I'm too old and too-long married to have any experience with online dating of any kind, but I do know that the more sensitive the data is, the less I am interested in making it available to Facebook. It wouldn't surprise me if he was already selling the information on status updates to divorce lawyers and the IRS.

Meanwhile, Facebook is also implementing a system to better suppress the public's access to the news it does not want them to see.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Tuesday that the company has already begun to implement a system that ranks news organizations based on trustworthiness, and promotes or suppresses its content based on that metric.

Zuckerberg said the company has gathered data on how consumers perceive news brands by asking them to identify whether they have heard of various publications and if they trust them.

“We put [that data] into the system, and it is acting as a boost or a suppression, and we’re going to dial up the intensity of that over time," he said. "We feel like we have a responsibility to further [break] down polarization and find common ground.”

The historical record suggests that no one at Facebook, especially Zuckerberg, has any idea what those words mean.

The chans are going to have so much fun with that system. :)

Does Zuckerberg come across to anyone as knowing anything of actual value about dating or even relationships in general?
As far as I know, he’s had one “girlfriend” and she was probably purchased.

Also, I miss the days when it was universally understood that peeping toms should be shunned as very odd perverts. And that the peeping toms knew this which is why they look into bedroom windows at night from the bushes. Now they are just proud businessmen same as any other except genius level sporting novel futuristic ideas.

Online dating looks terrible to dangerous.

I note the FAGS (FB) is limiting that which they deem as fake news or don't want diamond and silk around even after the women and Zuck appeared before geriatric congress.

Dating via Facebook reminds me of the low status nonsense at coast to coast am paranormal page or craigs lists, FB dating is crapping or scrapping the bottom of the dating scene.

Delete FB, Do not FB date.

Then again Zuck is needy to keep users as he called dumb F's, to now enroll in some dating appp. GROSS.

7 Sure its why FB is no good to horrible to grimy, slimy, gross and retarded. It's a bastion of the left and some on the right think they are "doing good via being there." Nullense: Leave, Run!

A FB dating app is nothing more than danger.

Facebook is for old ladies to use to discuss their cats and grand-kids. I see no other reason to use it. Disclaimer: my school made me have an account. It has set there unused for years.

It is well past time that something came along to replace FB and Twitter. We are now living in an age where SJWs are controlling who gets to speak in the public square. This must stop.

Oh, I'm more concerned myself about the frontloaded stuff.

If I were a white girl and I were on there, how long before all my "matches" are magically foreign and/or black males?

..."Zuckie, Zuckie, make me a ----ee..."

Why bother about screwing people on the back when you can preclude their very existence on the front?

Anonymous Anonymous May 02, 2018 6:44 AM

One more thing.

Why in the hell do so many people give a damn what random strangers think about you? Why does anyone seek validation from pixels on a screen?

Forget FB: I'm freaked about them using DNA database to catch the Golden State Killer. He didn't provide dna his relatives did to one of those 23andme type outfits. The authorities claim they went to an opensource genealogical database. The FBI has a large DNA database and if they haven't mined the genealogical databases i would be very surprised.
It getting to the point where a bruther will not get away with shit.

I have nothing against online dating.

But Zuckerbot as Yenta the Matchmaker?!?!

Good lord, the mind boggles.

And he is talking about long term relationships not hook-ups? Okay, admittedly, he is probably not the greatest expert in the world on how to get a one night stand.

But why on Earth does he think Facebook can't be gamed by Players?

Anonymous Anonymous May 02, 2018 7:47 AM

I think the second news is much more concerning than the first one. I don't even see facebook learning something new from a dating feature. From what I can see this is just an attempt to bind facebook users to their platform.

'If I were a white girl and I were on there, how long before all my "matches" are magically foreign and/or black males?'

I don't know how the Facebook interaction works, but in other dating apps you just swipe left. Most people I know that are unable to get any good matches change the app or stop all together. If you don't want social engineering in your dating experience, don't use dating apps and get a partner the old fashioned way.

Blogger Chiva May 02, 2018 7:47 AM

Now I know why Zuckerbot was pouring so much money into VR. Have the "total" experience with your virtual mate in VR while wearing the FB bodysuit!

@10 "If I were a white girl and I were on there, how long before all my "matches" are magically foreign and/or black males?"

I played around a bit on one of the dating sites... I made it 100% clear that I was not even slightly; interested in 'dating outside my race' (they let you do that, 4-5 years ago, 'spec they don't now!)) -- and yet I got multiple answering contacts from negros. Deleted my account and my 'trial' email addy: essentially, ran screaming!

Okay, so "every" was an exaggeration to drive the point home on my part. If the social engineering is rejected the typical response of the engineer is to turn it down a lot, then sloooowly creep it back up once they've got past your guard. Look at the Fabians. Everyone's still drinking from their financial punchbowl.

Nate wrote:A Facebook dating service... well its about time seniors had a dating service just for them.

Once you leave the work force and retire, the biggest change is the loss of personal contact (one of the reasons I still work 40+ hours a week). You go from interacting with many people a day (often 100's) to just a few and if you don't leave the house, one or two. You have to make a concerted effort to interact with people.

That is one reason older people spend a lot of time online. It allows them to interact with somebody, often many somebodies.

Couple that with how difficult it is for single seniors to meet other eligible seniors and having a safe, reliable means of doing so is paramount. V/R may make all of that easier, though as "Ready Player One" amply demonstrated, you can't trust avatars to be anything like their hosts.

I don't think we have any idea how things are going to change in the next five years as immersive technology advances into the mainstream. Facebook will become Bodybook or some other relevant acronym.

I thought you were quoting Jordan Peterson because those are his words. I forgot which thread I was on.

That talking point, "anti-polarization and common ground", is another way of saying they are the political centre.

Many liberal voters pride themselves on their moderation, unaware they are extreme. They need constant reassurance they are "not polarized", and they are "on common ground".

Peterson said he would run as a Liberal (if at all), not a cuckservative, and I heard him use that anti-polarization narrative.

What's it gonna be like an old fart dating service? No one under 40 spends time on Facebook.

Blogger DonReynolds May 02, 2018 12:55 PM

This is actually funny.
It is obvious that Zucker (and none of the other Facebook staffers) have any concept of "dating".

You can create a profile that no one else (but Facebook) can read and arrange dates with people who have done the same thing. This is not dating in the normal sense of the word. This is anonymous....the old word is "blind" dating. The modern term is "speed dating". But...but...but....it not not a hookup, these are supposed to be real, long-term relationships. (I can hardly keep from laughing.)

But if you are just too shy or awkward or insecure to do your own hunting and skinning, Facebook will aggressively make "suggestions" of just who would be a good match for you. (Yes, they are going to be steering.)

Lemmie guess, they have a warehouse full of fat middle-aged women who will play paper dolls with the profiles. Just like Barbie and Ken....except much shorter and heavier.

Sounds really awful....but these are not hookups and Facebook would never, ever engage in sexual trafficking or solicitation, so any money deals would be strictly offline. So what else is new?
