Bitter much?

And yet, so appropriate.

Football is a simple game, 22 men chase the ball for 82 minutes and the Germans get a player sent off so 21 men chase the ball for 13 minutes and at the end the Germans somehow fucking win.
Gary Lineker

In fairness, the Germans deserved to win. Sweden simply didn't take control of the game when they had a man advantage, but continued to sit in their defensive shell and allowed the 10-man Germans to dictate the action. Sweden also made the mistake of putting in their half-Arab, whose lack of Swedish discipline led to two unnecessary fouls, the second of which cost them the game.

Mexico is still looking formidable, as is Belgium. Both are very aggressive on the counterattack, but Belgium's attacks are considerably more efficient, as Mexico doesn't always make the final pass that is required for the optimal shot.

Now we will go all the way and defend the title!

Blogger Peaceful Poster June 24, 2018 8:36 AM

The half-arab notwithstanding, I was surprised that most of the Swedish team actually looked Swedish.

Unlike, say, the "French" team!

If multiculturalism continues much further, international competitions like the World Cup or the Olympics are going to become meaningless.

Apparently everyone has decided that "tackle England in the box" is a good strategy. This seems strange.

Sweden tried to sit on a 1 goal lead by playing defense against the German attack. I believe, even historically, this isn't the best idea. However, the Post Defense almost worked, as the Post got a key save. That shot by Kroos at the end though. Keeper actually got his fingers on it. Swedish keeper is good; their midfield, not so much.

The thing Germany really needs is much better set pieces on their corners. They just weren't getting anything good off them all match, and they had 8.

Panama has decided to field their Rugby Union team apparently. It'll be interesting to see how Russia does outside their group. And Croatia are looking strong too.

It's the French foreign legion. A team of African mercenaries.

Still a poor German team by historical standards.

Saying that, they'll probably still make the final!!!!

They French will remind you they're still a colonial power, and this is one of those instances. haha

The English side look to have improved over their first match, playing Panama, but they will be tested in the match with the Belgians.

The Belgium match will be the first one that the other team has decided they aren't in the Rugby World Cup. What part of "give England PKs" is a good strategy? This isn't the Bracket!

Tis the season in Toronto when goofy Europeans and South Americans drive around with foreign flags hanging all over their vehicles. Portuguese flags on every single piece of construction equipment.

One must wonder if we're going to start seeing more Eastern European countries start making showings as those countries seem to be culturally ascendant while the rest of the continent undergoes collapse.

Of course, there's a report coming out of the Switzerland/Serbia match yesterday that two of the Swiss players, who happen to be of Albanian heritage, flashed eagle hand gestures as "political provocation" and may be possibly suspended per some stupid FIFA rules.

The fact that England rightly handed Panama their asses today just makes me that much angrier at the US Soccer Federation. Maybe if they stopped worrying about rainbows on jerseys and actually worked on the on-field product, then maybe CONCACAF might be having a better showing at this World Cup.

Blogger Zwiebel June 24, 2018 10:27 AM

The German team is the only one in the cup without the national colours on their shirts. A few years ago they already rebranded themselves as "the team" rather than as "the national team". Traitors.

I hope they'll be sent packing, soon. Merkel likes to use these events for her more destructive decisions, and no one notices, because everyone has their eyes on the ball.

What is it with goalies in this tournament? Ball is struck right at the Japanese goalie, and instead of catching it, he punches it right at an attacker, who knocks it in.

Depends where the keeper's hands where when it was kicked. He might have been prepared for a much stronger shot, which is why you'd punch it away. Problem is, for a weak strike, you pop it right to someone in the middle.

Was a mistake, but without a detailed replay, it's hard to say if it was a skill/reflex issue or just bad luck.

Best teams sofar in my opinion were Belgium and Germany. I also think Brazil is a very strong team but they are below potential.

Football (soccer) is totally converged.

Even the rugby variant is mostly converged.

FIFA, being the international pinnacle of the sport is a cesspit of lies, corruption, and pedophilia.

Is anyone surprised?

No, we'd be surprised if it were any other way.

Mexico was just recently penalized by FIFA
...
because their fans were chanting "homophobic" slurs at the other team and fans.

time for the National teams to start fining the FIFAGS, for all their corruption.

they could start by issuing incarceration orders for Sepp Blatter.

Uh Mehico aint going anywhere unless they keep getting these clearly biased calls (See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOSg165xRTw @ 0.22 sec) Handball really!? What is the guy supposed to do slide with his arms at his side? And keep in mind that goal put Mehico over. Hats off to South Korea, they are improving and if you notice they started getting physical back as they had enough of Mehicos crap.

If Neymar can focus and get serious they will do very well.

Yep. A horrible lefty tosser who spends more time virtue signalling about refugees than anything else.

It's the Beeb, perhaps the only outfit covering sports more converged than ESPN. I made the mistake of listening to a BBC rugby podcast last week. They were talking about the England-South Africa match. The guest player (sitting out recovering form an injury, I think) they had on the show was trying to talk about how exciting a match it was and the paid-BBC employee kept interrupting to talk about the momentous occasion of South Africa's first Black team captain.

Yes, he was such a good captain that even the ref forgot who the captain was.

It must be a specie of Gell-Mann Amnesia for Europeans to watch a World Cup game, see clearly that each nation has its own distinct character, then change the channel and go back to imagining that We Are The World.

You're clueless about the sport. Mexico has the best counterattack in the Cup.

Blogger VD June 24, 2018 5:10 PM

What is it with goalies in this tournament? Ball is struck right at the Japanese goalie, and instead of catching it, he punches it right at an attacker, who knocks it in.

He saw the attacker there and was afraid to try catching it because there was a very good chance he wouldn't hold onto it. It was PROBABLY the right decision to punch it, but he needed to punch it up or to the right, not forward.

If he had tried to catch it, the same result was likely. These guys shoot the ball very hard, and at that range it's not likely that even an international keeper will prevent a rebound.

Blogger John Doe03526 June 24, 2018 5:25 PM

Croatia could go deep in this tournament. Modric is on a different level.

And the best biased refereeing in the cup. If you say-so Vox even though we beat Mexican teams like a piñata back in the day, like I said they aren't getting anywhere.

Blogger Unknown June 24, 2018 5:51 PM

Mexico has the best counterattack in the Cup.

But their half-latino, half-indian, half-spaniard brownie team lacks the bright white discipline of the Swedes, so they have no hope of winning the Cup. Or anything else. Build the wall already and put us all out of your misery.

Yeah, I know the math doesn't work. Deal with it.
