Following our lead

DC Comics is now imitating Arkhaven Comics:
Apparently, things come in threes. This looks like the third reveal about DC Comics upcoming plans for their monthly comic book line. – only one of which they have admitted to. This morning, Bleeding Cool told you about DC’s exclusive Walmart anthologies, serialising new Batman comics by Brian Bendis and Superman comics by Tom King which then got confirmed everywhere.

We then told you that DC Comics were moving their $3.99 line of comics from 20-page stories to 22-page stories, to justify the price point and steal a march on Marvel Comics.

And now? As a result of their investment into the 100 page Walmart anthology titles and the print stock needed for those titles, DC Comics are going to shift from glossy paper to non-glossy paper for their entire line.
Arkhaven already prints on non-glossy paper. And we don't do 20-page stories, but 24-page stories. 20 percent more for 25 percent less! Of course, our 24-page stories retail for only $2.99 and aren't full of SJW preaching. Check out the print editions here.

From OP:

"Apparently, things come in threes. This looks like the third reveal about DC Comics upcoming plans for their monthly comic book line."

What is it with these uncouth people who think that the word "reveal" is a noun?

The word is revelation, you morons in the intertainment industry!

Vox,

Was having problems checking out from the Castalia House site. Also I didn't see issue #2 "Rebel's Cell". You might want to also include a link to your comics on Amazon in the mean time.

Is it normal for an industry leader to change it's business strategy so soon after a new competitor enters the market? Is this normal or do they see the writing on the walls?

Blogger Anno Ruse July 05, 2018 11:23 AM

I'm familiar with Brian Bendis's writing and he's the writer LEAST suited to writing Batman. He just fills panels with words, words, words. Example: https://i.imgur.com/u9cptVx.png

If DC is making mistakes like this, they're going to be as bad as Marvel in no time.

I don't know if this was posted before, but SONY Pictures is launching a heavy counterattack:

Hollywood is getting its first plus-size superhero.

Vox has mentioned before that the ebook versions are only on Amazon. The print version of #2 isn't out yet. When it is you'll be able to get it at Castalia House.

My wife got me six months of Kindle Unlimited for my birthday. Three guesses as to what I spent yesterday catching up on. :)

@7 I predict weighty sales graphs.

It's worse than that. It's monologue, monologue, monologue.

I believe there have been versions of Batman where that would fit. But I also believe they've been relatively short lived. There may be a connection there.

Every fat girl that doesn't buy comic books and only watches romance movies starring Julia Roberts is totally gonna watch that.

Of course the flying whale, Faith Zeppelin, has telekinetic powers. How else is she going to move her bulk?

Jourdan Petersen is Batman?

Hollywood is getting its first plus-size superhero...

The old saw is that inside every fat person is a thin person trying to get out.

I think it does work with women to not have the super attractive babe as the lead. They know they are not that women. But a way fat or seriously ugly? Na, doesn't work.

Blogger widlast washere July 05, 2018 1:03 PM

Mistress Lard, that is going to be one epic fail.

She shouldn't have stood so close to the buffet.

Create controversy over this and take advantage of it. Thus far Arkhaven is getting no attention & no mentions. Donald Trump got elected president by following this strategy. It works.

It seems that Ubi Soft has also decided to commit suicide.

That's her version of Kryptonite. The villain just throws a couple of Ryans or Golden Corral gift cards at her and she becomes powerless.

Hey Vox, do you have any idea when the next issue of Rebel Dead Revenge is coming out?

Blogger VD July 05, 2018 3:45 PM

Probably three weeks. Jeeves 4 will come out first.

Blogger SidVic July 05, 2018 3:58 PM

Bravo! To be a fly on the wall over at DC headquarters. They sweating hard...

Blogger MendoScot July 05, 2018 5:23 PM

Jeeves 4 will come out first.

Any hope for us non-US? I really don't know when the next time I'll do a swing through will be/

Blogger Zeroh Tollrants July 05, 2018 6:39 PM

I would never have read a comic book w/a fat super hero girl or played with a fat Barbie doll when I was a young girl.
No girl fantasizes about being fat & ugly. It's not aspirational in any way.
I got a off brand Barbie as a birthday present once, and she had slightly wonky eyes and ugly hair. When I was growing up we didn't get many toys, yet I still threw her in the garbage.

Blogger VD July 05, 2018 7:37 PM

Any hope for us non-US?

For comics in general, yes, possibly as soon as November. For Jeeves, that's up to the copyright holders.

How many total? I am considering them as a surprise gift to a Wodehouse fan.

Blogger Michael Maier July 05, 2018 9:04 PM

Nevermind, should have looked on the site. Six total.
