New print editions
In case you're interested, we've got THREE new print editions out this week that may be of interest.
First is CHUCK DIXON'S AVALON #1: THE STREET RULES, which is available in a gold logo edition for $2.99. We very nearly got it out as fast as the digital version thanks to our new production process, which cuts 4-5 days off the previous pre-print routine. This means that all of our new print editions will only be available on Castalia Books Direct for a week or two, before they eventually show up on Amazon.
Second is the brilliant SUPERLUMINARY trilogy by John C. Wright. It contains The Lords of Creation, The Space Vampires, and The World Armada and is a 482-page paperback. Although it retails for $27.99, we're able to offer it at $19.99.
And third is Vol. II of my Collected Columns. Crisis & Conceit 2006-2009 is a 756-page hardcover that is available for 34.99.

I thought it was called THE WORLD ARMADA, not THE LAST ARMADA.
Mr. Wright is brilliant, but plot twists the author didn't even see coming? That is another level.
Just ordered Avalon.
Yes, corrected. I just checked, just in case, and can confirm we have it right on the back cover.
Still can't order from UK. Any update on when that will change?
Alt Hero II available soon?

I'm hearing October-November.
Alt Hero II available soon?
Yes.
Superluminary is quite impressive.
Ordered all three, which is the best rate for shipping. Cost the same to ship three as one item. Makes it hard to wait for three things to drop, but patience pays! This will be my third time ordering direct from Castalia. Each time I pay for standard shipping, get it within the week. St. Louis, Mo.
That was fast. I looked at buying all the copies of the gold logo Avalon #1 but the only shipping option is over $2500. Need a promo code...
C'mon, you know it's gonna happen sooner or later.
Excellent. I will order day 1 when available in print on Amazon Prime. Keep cranking them out Vox! Great to see the creator of Bane on board with Arkhaven!
Done. Superluminary and 4 comics.
VFM #424 HERE--would it be better to order now from Castalia,or get it from Amazon?

If you order the comics from Castalia, they make a profit. Amazon is break even.
@13:
Best thing to do is to order from Castalia and leave a review on Amazon.
That WAS fast! When Alt-Hero 2 comes out will have to order this, and the other print copies, as don't want to wait on the groups coming out for backers.

For print, we always prefer Castalia.
What's the best song related to a comic? I say Megadeth's Holy Wars...the Punishment Due, with the latter half based on The Punisher character.
I'm a backer and chose the hardcovers but I still need these gold editions as well! :P
I feel ya man!
This is all excellent news. Let me go find my credit card...
Just laid in a bunch of copies of everything from Castalia Direct, in preparation for the push into comic stores.
I've got people lined up to hit every store within a 75 mile radius (which, sadly, is less than half a dozen, but still), and now we'll have full sets of what's on offer to show them when we do.
As soon as you give the word VD (and ideally provide some documentation that we can drop off with the comics), we're ready to go.
I had no idea how awesome this entire endeavor would be when I backed Alt Hero.
I mean, I hoped it would be good, but I had no inkling of just how impactful Arkhaven and Alt Hero would be (have already been?).
Also, somewhat off topic, but I finished the latest War Dogs Inc last night. Excellent, well written, and fast paced story. That series just keeps getting better.
I stand by my previous assessment that War Dogs is easily the best Mil Sci Fi going these das. Please keep 'em coming, we'll keep devouring them.
And lastly, I promise, I've got a question.
Do you all get paid for every time we borrow and read a book on Kindle Unlimited, or just the first time?
'Cause if you get paid every time, I'll use KU to show Alt-Hero et al to new people instead of my backer's digital copies. Don't cost me nothing extra, and if it puts coin in you all's pocket, so much the better.
Excellent work as always, VD and team. You guys are killing it on so many fronts I can scarcely believe it.
I'm waiting on print of alt*hero 2 to drop, then I'm snapping up Quantum Mortis 2, Avalon 1 and A*H 2.
Shut up and take my money!
Superluminary is outstanding...just bought it and Avalon #1 via Castalia Direct. This'll make a full bookshelf of John C. Wright novels.
I read comics for the art (yes, that makes me a weirdo) and I loathed the line work on this one (the colourist is truly skilled). I hated it more than I did Maus's. But I cannot deny it fits the story, and the story has me hooked.
Good show.
RT to Superluminary. I gave a John C. Wright recommendation for "Swan Knight's Son" to a young English teacher, one who was looking for 'local authors' but instead grasped the idea of YA oriented heroic tales. She wanted more resources, sounded not happy with all the real-world fiction on her lists. One pebble at a time.
@VD,
I hesitate to post because I wouldn't want you to literally shake at this news, but one of your indie competitors has just quadrupled down:
LionForge just hired Gail Simone - primarily known for turning everything she touches into a lesbian - to run its line. They are promising that with...
"Her leadership on representation of women in superhero comics speaks to her fit with Lion Forge and its mission distilled in our slogan as ‘Comics for Everyone.’ ... when we set her loose on an emerging universe conceived and executed for a contemporary audience that, from its inception, has been inclusive..."
