The president we need

A conservative explains why he has come around on the God-Emperor in USA TODAY.
Over the years, my caricatures of Donald Trump have evolved but not as much as my opinion of him.

When Trump announced he was running for president, I admit that I didn't take this millionaire, hotel magnate, reality TV show celebrity as a serious candidate. I doubted his ability to do the job. So I drew him as a clown. In fact, my cartoons were as critical of him as many of my liberal cartoonist friends.Trump identified the problems and fixes....

His political promises were simple, repeated often and easily remembered — build the wall, repeal and replace Obamacare, cut taxes, destroy the Islamic State group, renegotiate better trade deals and make America great again. So how in the world did Trump change my mind? He started keeping those promises....

There have been a few hiccups. Trump signed a budget bill that increased the national debt, which is now over $21 trillion. The Russia probe is still a cloud over his administration, and I don't like trade wars.

But here’s the dominating reason I’ve changed my mind about Trump's ability to lead: judges. I support his picks of Justice Neil Gorsuch, his new U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and the host of conservative federal judges that Trump has gotten confirmed.

I shudder to think of the activist judges that a President Hillary Clinton would have picked.

In my opinion, Trump has had the most successful 18 months as president than any other I've ever drawn. So yes, I support his presidency.

I admit that I was wrong about Trump. He's not a clown. He's a businessman, entertainer, and now the president that I didn't want but now think we need.
Just wait until this guy discovers that Russia is our greatest ally and the trade wars lead to full-employment and stronger economic growth than we've seen since the 1980s. He won't merely declare Trump a great president, he'll start drawing him as the God-Emperor and calling for a crown.
The British pound fell and U.K. politicians reeled Friday from the tornado-blast of U.S. President Donald Trump, who humiliated Prime Minister Theresa May, dashed hopes of a quick U.S.-U.K. trade deal and praised May’s opponents in the high-stakes battle over Brexit.

All in just 24 hours in Britain.
Trumpslide 2020, baby! All hail the God-Emperor!

@1- Yes, when bowtiecons do their little litanies of Trumpian crimes, aside from Muh Russia, sexual assault, and fire-and-brimstone vaugeries, it's usually a bunch of piddling crap. Breach of etiquette. "Can you believe he said that?" Vulgar comportment. Conduct unbecoming.

Fact is, they're afraid. It was all well and good complaining about Gentleman George Bush never fighting back and pretending they were really going to give it to the libs anyday now. But actually having to do real politics is dirty business. Mugwumps don't like it.

Blogger tublecane July 13, 2018 8:28 AM

@2- By the way, I never knew that's what they were actually like. I mean, I knew they were weak and "beautiful losers," but I didn't know they weren't trying and were all little scaredy-cats. Trump brings it out of them.

He brings it out of everyone.

It's always good when a prodigal son returns. Shame he didn't recognise Trump's greatness, and support him from the beginning. But it doesn't matter - none of them managed to derail the MAGA train.

The problem is we are not on the inside. When we do get a little light from the inside, Trump doesn't play all that well. What follows the asterisks is the British Lord responsible for the British sovereign trading platforms and leader of the British EurAsia push.

Hmm, the negotiator. Pity his Ghost writers can't Ghost his lips.

Only 2 days here and hes claiming he's got the EU to uplift their NATO funding and he's selling them American arms. This is a Global village, everyone talks.
Not a good place for a Fantasist when all is public. They are now contesting his claims.

1. The EU will NOT increase Defense spending. NOT! Already he is making himself look stupid by false fantasies.
2.Worse a serial Liar. It's dangerous making it up as you go along, even worse if you can't remember which Lie you told last.Does Trump even know the difference?
3.Everything he says is reported daily. Then analysed and challenged. These are articulate, well educated domains. Lies get called. He lies a lot.
4.All the promises he made to secure Planning Permission for Scottish Golf Courses, then grossly under delivered, are being exposed, as the work of a serial liar. He's a Chancer, but now on a world stage. Which means deliver or be ready for smart media which will expose his lies. So many. He clearly has no plan. Policy shooting from the lip at this level? Really, not smart. He so needs Minding.
5. He's being well looked after, and he will meet the Queen. She's highly experienced, perceptive and very smart. Plus she will be well briefed on Trump, told he's a fantasist, serial liar, and opportunist who will make false claims if given any rope.
Plus warned to lock up the silver ware. lol.
6.Theresa May needs a good showing with him. But she's a losing cause, so he needs only focus on her replacements. Build for the future. She's toast.
7. Next week there are Defense shows in the UK and it's a big Arms show for those in the know. The US will do well from that. That he can help America with. BS sells arms.
9.Meeting Putin is key. He will need help from him for reelection LOl.Joking!
10.Trump WILL have a good UK tour. Russia he will build bridges. His EU NATO tour was not as he thinks. His credibility and intellect is now being challenged. Trust is key.

Carpet Baggers abroad need minding. Fortunately we are cross meeting his real support team and building new hands across the pond links. The relationship is strong and it will survive Trump but his UK Tour will be good,it will bring returns. May needs him and vice versa he needs the UK. No bad thing. Trump will be OK in the UK. He's minded. Plus hundreds of Police have been called in to secure every location. A big job. Big budgets.

The UK and US will grow stronger. We are united by common agendas. We both believe it's our right to rule the world. It's catching! Lol. Eurasia WILL!

Be careful of negotiating with lies. They come home. It's 2 weeks of PR. Real work follows.

Blogger James Jones July 13, 2018 8:39 AM

Over here in the UK I don't really get to hear about Trump's polling numbers - not that I pay much attention to them - but it occurs to me that if Never-Trumpers like him are coming around, how many of those in the general population, who didn't vote for him, are? Trumpslide 2020 indeed.

@5 Tino

Hey Tino buddy, let me fill you in on how the world works as you don't seem to know. In politics all you have to do to get a person of importance to say something nice about you is to give them something. And the something that the President of the United States can give is obtained by sacrificing the self-interest of the general population.

The above is why Trump draws so much criticism. He is not selling us out.

Blogger Anchorman July 13, 2018 8:57 AM

This is literally the next step, predicted by Scott Adams.

"I don't like him, but he's effective."

Scott Adams' predictions and analysis have been eye-opening. It's almost all counter-conventional wisdom, yet he's on target with Trump's rise and continued progress. And he's not even politically aligned with Trump (so he hints), which makes it all the more remarkable that he can disassociate himself from the process and recognize the parts in motion.

Blogger Peaceful Poster July 13, 2018 8:59 AM

Blogger Anchorman July 13, 2018 9:04 AM

@5 1. The EU will NOT increase Defense spending. NOT! Already he is making himself look stupid by false fantasies.

The guy doesn't get it. Trump put the marker out there. Either the EU meets the marker or he can roll them for not keeping promises. And it's not like they can say, "We didn't say this," because all he's asking is for them to meet the already agreed upon target spending.

He's set the table to win - and I'm not a "Trump always plays 4D chess" guy. When they don't meet the mark, they'll still be explaining why they're not meeting the already agreed upon levels and he'll be dunking on them to set up other negotiations.

He really may turn out to have bigger pro-USA accomplishments than Reagan. He's already had a more successful first 18 months.

As always, Trump give you more than enough rope for y'all to GO HANG YOURSELVES! We want NATO countries to not pay up -- so we can dump NATO!

Surely you do not think it's reasonable for the American taxpayer (of which "I are one") to be providing our money for YOUR defense -- so you can play at socialism (NHS, anyone?! Counsel housing?!) while we pick up your tab?

Our God Emperor has drawn a much-needed boundary: you Euro countries pay up or we are absolutely "taking our ball and going home." (American idiom: means, we're NOT playing!)

You've got multiple billions to pay Russia for energy?! Then you must also have multiple billions to pay for your own defense (ha: "against Russia") -- cause we want OUT!

U.S. OUT OF NATO! (Damned European fools...)

One central question that Trump has to ask himself is would America rather have Germany or England as an ally or Russia. I would pick Russia myself as they are very white, very Christian, and very traditional.

Russia is more "western" than any of the western countries other than Hungry or perhaps Poland. (I only know Hungarians personally, no Poles)

NATO was formed to defend against the USSR, but that no longer exists. How many centuries do we intend to defend against a long dead entity?

Mark, I am with you, but keep in mind that Russia is also very leftist-collectivist. Just because the Soviet Union went tango uniform doesn't mean that Leninism went away, especially after the economic anarchy that happened in the first decade after the USSR collapsed.

Still, it makes a lot of sense to normalize relations with Russia while Red China begins its huffing and puffing. Such an alliance is in both our interests, while Western Europe has little to offer until they get their houses in order.

Concur on 2020. In 2016, Trump was a wild card. He's now a known quantity. He's governed with a surer hand and a deft touch that very few people expected. Rhetorically, anything he says for public consumption, especially the initial statements, is an opening position.

Above all, he gets things done. He's getting into Theodore Roosevelt territory now.

I'm expecting that Trump will carry all the states he carried in 2016, plus Virginia and New Hampshire. The election will be called by 2330 that evening.

No, if the game is, "would you rather have." Push, cajole, and fund the rehab of the broken countries with stronger economies, less corruption, and historical good will.

Ultimately, the best method is to show the way. Trump is doing that. And as their press and bureaucrats mock him and his methods, the people will see it gets results and demand similar reform.

SJWs are good enough at compartmentalization to go "muh Russian collusion" and "muh nuclear war" while ignoring both Hillary's approval of a corrupt uranium deal and Mexico's mass interference in our democratic processes. But normal people are not so immune to cognitive dissonance, and it looks like Hillary colluded with the CIA, FBI, MI5, and others (Australian intelligence?) to try to undermine Trump and manufacture conflict with Russia (and Syria, and who knows what all).

I see the God-Emperor followed my advice on dealing with the press -stay on message and make your own recording.

"Fortunately, we tend to record stories now so we have it for your enjoyment if you’d like it. But we record when we deal with reporters. It’s called fake news. And we solve a lot of problems with the good old recording instrument."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRBvWv0vK3Q

I am the G-E’s humble servant.

Now he needs to follow through and publicize the actual recording and put it next to what the fake news put out to discredit them.

Every chance Trump gets he points out how the press is lying by omission and biased reporting. He REPEATS this mantra. He did it at the NATO breakfast. When the NATO chief praised Trump’s leadership, Trump pointed to the reporters recording the meeting and said “they won’t write that.”

https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/trump-says-they-wont-write-that-to-nato-chief-who-complimented-him-on-camera/

Then he did it at the Trump/May press conference. Now 72% don’t trust the media. You’re seeing meme magic in real time here, folks.
