Another accuser recants

To precisely no one's surprise, another accuser of Supreme Court Associate Justice Kavanaugh has admitted that her accusations were Fake News:
One of Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh’s accusers admitted this week that she made up her lurid tale of a backseat car rape, saying it “was a tactic” to try to derail the judge’s confirmation to the Supreme Court.

Sen. Chuck Grassley, chairman of the Judiciary Committee revealed the fraud in a letter to the FBI and Justice Department Friday, asking them to prosecute Judy Munro-Leighton for lying to and obstructing Congress. Mr. Grassley said Ms. Munro-Leighton is a left-wing activist who hijacked another “Jane Doe” anonymous report about a backseat rape and claimed it as her own story, calling it a “vicious assault.”

“I am Jane Doe from Oceanside CA — Kavanaugh raped me,” Ms. Munro-Leighton wrote in an Oct. 3 email claiming to have been a victim of the judge.
Republicans had better prosecute these false accusers and prosecute them hard, because this has become a standard tactic for Democrats attempting to derail Republican appointees. Ms Munro-Leighton really would have done much better to describe her false accusation of backseat car rape as a "thought experiment" rather than a political tactic.

Referring a far-left activist obstruction case to the FBI does not give me confidence that anything will be done. The FBI still has too much swamp stench attached to it.

As Jordan Peterson has so wisely advised, the best thing for Judge Kavanaugh to do would be to offer to serve this leftist activist's prison sentence. It would leave no doubt in anyone's mind that he is of the highest moral calibre, bucko, and solve this divisive Supreme Court issue in a way that would please everyone - right and left.

The letter is addressed to Jeff Sessions and Christopher Wray. Nothing will be done.

If the Republicans keep the House and pick up a seat or two in the Senate Sessions will be fired. Wray is part of the swamp.

The first (well, technically 2nd) was Avenetti’s girl, Swetnick.
https://www.lifenews.com/2018/10/02/kavanaugh-accuser-swetnick-recants-some-of-her-allegations-contradicts-previous-claims/

Grassley’s referred _FOUR_ people to FBI for lying;
1. Swetnick
2. Avenetti
3. An unnamed man who stated he saw Kavanaugh rape someone

4. Jane Doe / Munro-Leighton

Surely there HAS to be severe punishment for perjury and smearing a Supreme court nominee to slander him and pervert justice.

If not then the whole government is truly corrupt. Scary.

And of course if will embolden such fraud. How could it not??

One thing I'm noticing is that these offenses ARE being referred for criminal prosecution. It used to be that they would be forgotten. Not any more.

Blogger Doktor Jeep November 04, 2018 12:41 PM

This is why I cringe when people tout that they are "law abiding citizens". To be so now in this lawless land is beyond the political context of the term " duck". I cannot even find a word for this most vile form of submission. The same people who would see these lying bitches go free would be livid if they managed to ban guns and we didn't dutifully line up to turn them in.
If these harridans are not prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, in a country where even being accused of telling lies to a fed will ruin you, then we have achieved full anarcho tyranny and it's time to start breaking every law and cheating on every form that we can get away with.

Blogger Dirk Manly November 04, 2018 12:44 PM

Putting her in Federal Prison will also be "a tactic"..... one to put a clamp on people who use lying as a tactic.

Blogger Damelon Brinn November 04, 2018 12:53 PM

I hoped Grassley wouldn't let it be water under the bridge, and he's not. Hail to the Corn Lord.

It was these other accusations, made in the background, that allowed Democrats to turn Ford's claims about a groping into "serial rapist," even though Kavanaugh never got to face them and defend himself. It was so shamless and unfair that even Linsdey Graham is still mad about it. It may be the biggest reason for the high Republican turnout so far in the midterms.

Swetnick in a TV interview backed her story down to "I saw him standing near the punch bowl one time." I think she's claiming Avenatti embellished her story, so Grassley referred them both. Oh, and NBC sat on this for weeks, of course.

Blogger JAG November 04, 2018 1:02 PM

As Vox himself has stated before, leftists will only behave if they are given either or both of the stimuli known as force and fear. Prosecute, and prosecute hard for these kinds of lies so that at least the next time it will be far more difficult for the Democrats to convince their own morons to lie for them.

In good old backward redneck South Carolina, we had a little law on the books called "Filing a False Police Report." Was a felony, if I recall correctly.

I have personal knowledge of at least two women charged under this law for filing false rape allegations.

Not sure what the exact turn of events were that led to "believe all accusers no matter what," but it sure flies in the face of Innocent Until Proven Guilty / Due Process.

@troushers - That’s hilarious.

With regards to the topic, even a very public threat of force against these liars would be a step in the right direction. If they were actually prosecuted, hell, that would be a cause for celebration.

40% of sexual assaults reported to the Police are fraudulent...Wonder what the % is for those that weren't reported...I'm guessing more than 50%.

I think that after this latest abortion by the Democrats trying to railroad a justice appointment, that they should apologize to Judge Bork and his family.

Yes, I know he passed away but he will still hear the apology from up there.

Do we have any leftists who are human enough to admit what they did, and apologize?

WE as a society are always in the position of having to weigh whether the claim is likely, or possible, or practical, on the one hand, and the credibility and integrity of the claimant, on the other hand.

When the claimant cries wolf and they apparently have every reason to lie, or a vested interest, or a grudge, or a determined revenge motive, or are in league with a movement to disrupt or defame, then we should reasonably expect more credible witnesses to come forth or physical evidence, a video recording, or a notary.

In today's society, it is no longer possible to accept unsubstantiated claims (without a confession on the part of the accused) without an inquiry.

The greater threat is for a matter to be tried in the Leftist Media, with the Queen of Hearts presiding, where guilt is presumed and the only arguments revolve around the severity of the punishments. We used to prohibit and discourage "pre-trial publicity" as prejudicial of the accused's right to a fair and impartial trial. Otherwise, we get the old lynch mob of the vigilantes or the reign of terror of the French Revolution. To be accused is proof enough of guilt.

"40% of sexual assaults reported to the Police are fraudulent...Wonder what the % is for those that weren't reported...I'm guessing more than 50%."

Fraudulent rape reports are over 50%. PROVABLY FALSE reports are around 50% all by themselves. Total rate of false reporting for rape is probably around 75%, which means that there are 3x as many false rape reports to the police for every true one.

Blogger OneWingedShark November 04, 2018 4:30 PM

"Tactic"? No, it was perjury, and false witness.

Blogger Garuna November 04, 2018 6:34 PM

We are blessed to have such stupid enemies. "Always believe" feminism doesn't play well with minorities. 2018 early voting demographics look "almost identical" to 2010 and 2014, which were wins for Republicans. The media & Dems should've focused on the racial angle. If they fail to take the House, it'll be because of these lying whores and their obviously fake allegations eating up all the airtime.

Perhaps making a false accusation in the attempt to sway an election or a confirmation to a high office needs to be a capital crime. That's probably the only punishment sufficient to deter the use of flagrantly false accusers in the future.

Feinstein knew all this and acted anyway.

This is a majorly important point.

A key member of representative government knew all that was a falsehood and ran with it. And she is still a member of said government.

Where are the R screams for impeachment of her knowing complicity in a fraud and perjury before Congress?

Blogger Dirk Manly November 04, 2018 9:50 PM

Do the Senate's rules still allow them to throw out one of their members? I know that they did a couple times in the 1800's.

Blogger Damelon Brinn November 04, 2018 10:04 PM

I figured that was explained to Feinstein a couple minutes before they came out of Schumer's office and she looked like she'd just eaten a bug. She didn't have much to say after that, except that the FBI report definitely should be kept private.

Of course, everyone in the room that day knew it was a lie, except maybe that ditz Milano. But Feinstein really knew it.

"Surely there HAS to be severe punishment for perjury and smearing a Supreme court nominee to slander him and pervert justice."

I'm not sure this rises to the level of perjury, but I'm no legal expert. If her lies were confined to an Email (and a subsequent meeting with investigators) then wouldn't the charge be something more akin to filing a false police report or giving a false statement to investigators? Isn't perjury limited to falsehoods given under oath during an actual judicial proceeding? And if I'm not mistaken, she was never called to testify under oath. In either case, making an example of her with the strictest charge possible would go some distance in discouraging other children of darkness.

Blogger ace November 05, 2018 8:34 AM

Ding ding ding.

Blogger Damelon Brinn November 05, 2018 9:18 AM

And if I'm not mistaken, she was never called to testify under oath.

That's what was so ugly about it, to the point where Gentleman Lindsey Graham was ready to cut a bitch. They waited until it was too late to get anyone but Ford on the docket, then put the rest of the stories out into the bloodstream through the media. Republicans couldn't let them keep dragging in a new accuser every few days, because the midterms were too close. So they stuck to their guns and went ahead with Ford. Then the narrative became, "If you find her credible, you would probably find the others credible too," so if you believed a story of awkward high school groping, you were supposed to buy the story of a teenage rape gang terrorizing a town's women. And Kavanaugh never got the basic American right to face his accusers.
