1MB is NOT a bug

If you are experimenting with (the thing that shall not be named but will be announced Friday), the 1MB limit on image storage is most certainly NOT a bug. Free accounts get 1MB, which is just enough for an avatar and a header, and not very much more.

More importantly, this approach allows us to defang a major attack vector utilized by anonymous trolls, serial harassers, and monkey-wrenchers on social media sites.

One more thing. If you are an Infogalactic supporter - and thank you very much, all of you - you need to email me BOTH your @name and your support level. I may write 900-page epic fantasy novels without an outline, but nevertheless, I am entirely incapable of remembering every single supporter's precise support level on the basis if their email account. Telling me "my name is X" is great, but it does not tell me whether you are a Bronze, Silver, or Gold supporter.

The support badges and additional text limits are expected to arrive before we announce publicly on Friday.

UPDATE: our payment processor is suddenly taking belated issue with our subscription model because it is technically on a different site, so we have taken down the products from the store while we resolve the matter. If you are already a Burn Unit member, please continue to provide me with your username and support level in order to have your status upgraded.

Sounds fair.

It seems quite impressive so far, sir. Glad to see it happening.

Guilty, and rectified.

Like what I’ve seen so far.

Also approve of the principle; do something for us and we do something for you.

Nothing for nothing, everything for a reason.

Would strongly recommend you check out the Maxmind databases. They are quite useful for geocoding IP addresses, and they have a premium one that tries to track VPNs, Tor nodes, etc. Obviously not going to be perfect, but their premium costs are a few hundred bucks a year. They could help you build out additional support for tracking down and blocking trolls and other attackers.

It sounds fair. I'll be going free for now, but if there's a good, engaging community I'll move onto paid.

I am an existing member of the Burn Unit but could not register a new account yesterday. I tried three different browsers, but even when all the inputs appeared acceptable, the Register button never became active. Do I need to change to a subscription first?

I was a burn unit member, but I think I fell off due to credit card problems. Went there today to get back on board, but the donations page says something like ``no text on this page.''

I'll wait for you to get the subscription issues squared away on the Arkhaven site.

I don't know what this is but I'm curious what the anti-spam and harassment features are going to be. I hope it will be something better than "Every user has to pay $1 to sign up and complete a captcha and then pay .05 cents per post".

Like it, and am still learning. Never had Twitter or Facebook accts, so I'll blunder through stuff. Looking up the beginner guides and other tips on Twitter as a starting point. (Scratches idly, dinosaur scales tumble off).

As always...I am blown away by your ability to deliver. There is a lot of talk out there, but when folks ask me why I'm a fan of VP it's because the talk there becomes viable products. I'm not making as much as I was in 2017...but I am looking forward to backing this.
