Introducing SocialGalactic

Twitter is SJW-controlled territory. Gab is a hellhole of defamation and Nazi trolls. So, after many of Infogalactic's supporters asked us to provide something on the social media front, the InfoGalactic team joined forces with OneWay and created a new social media alternative: SocialGalactic.

We're presently in Beta. Free accounts have 140-character posts and 1MB storage, which is just enough for an avatar and a header. We'll soon be making Pro accounts available at three levels, which will provide posts of 200, 480, and 999 characters, and image storage up to 500MB. Sign up and check it out!

For the Burn Unit members who are already on the site, please note that it has been updated to version 1.1.0. Log in and log out to make sure that you're running the latest version, which includes:

1)  Badges for member levels
2)  Character limits based on member levels
3)  Mobile improvements
4)  Moderator controls
5)  Notifications counters
6)  Position of post you are relying to in modal.
7)  X closes DM modal.
8)  Bio in dark mode
9)  Post counters on home page.
10)  Online user counter on home page.

Please keep in mind that SocialGalactic is NOT a free speech zone. Don't be vulgar, don't post nudes or obscene material, and behave in a civil manner. If you want spicy memes and bantz, you've already got Gab. Don't bother asking for more image storage for free accounts, as we've identified that as a primary attack vector by trolls and monkey-wrenchers and we're more likely to reduce the image storage than increase it.

  1. Nice. Did the Burn Unit subscription page get back online? Not sure where to join up.

  2. Did the Burn Unit subscription page get back online?

No, we have some things to resolve there first. We'll get it going within a month. Give the free version a shot until then.

  3. Since it's built on Fediway's distributed network engine, are there plans to internetwork with other Fediway nodes in the future?

The option is there. It depends upon the nodes, of course.

  5. > the InfoGalactic team joined forces with OneWay

Is there inter-operability between the two networks? 2 networks based on the same code, or two development branches, or ... ?

Am definitely having more fun with SG over OW. Higher concentration of Ilk and VFM.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I like it already. Will there be a iOS/Android app as well?

  9. The valid email hint underneath the result box was confusing at first.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Smooth sign-up process. Everything looks nice. The included "Deck" is a great feature. Will poke around some more.

    ReplyDelete
  11. What does the 1 + 12 thing mean on the sign up? I cannot make it past this part of the registration. Some things go over my head too easily.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Signed up, myself. I like the option of limiting things if you're just along for the ride. I don't necessarily NEED to post photos or anything like that, but it makes sense to pay for the privilege vice just providing that additional vector. Smart planning.

Now, the big question: sure, we've got Milo, but what about THE BEAR?!?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Already on. We’ll see how this goes. Could be big. Could fizzle into nothing, but remember the most important words of the Guide: DON’T PANIC.

  14. Joined. @halvar This looks great. Really looking forward to seeing it grow. Twitter has been so boring since so many people I followed were banned.

  15. Never mind. I figured it out. Toldja that some things go over my head.

  16. @13

It's a CAPTCHA field. You put the results of the math equation into the box. That's what confused me, I kept putting in my email as the hint suggested.

A social media site for adults? That's a novel concept. I like it.

  22. Great job.

I'm guessing it'll be a while until you'll benefit from force multiplier follower interactions on there, at the moment it's the best social media corner of the internet. It's all downhill from here.

  23. Next two or three weeks are going to be a whole lot of fun. Has a placeholder account already been reserved the God-Emperor?

  30. Nice work Mr. Vox. I really have to commend you on this one lol. :P

It's like a "Voxian Twitter" lol.

Still not quite complete yet, huh?

Anyways, hopefully it turns out pretty good.

    Feel like passing it on.

Thanks for this great boostful contribution of social media space for politically-incorrect freedom of speech.

    You're walking the walk. Kudos...

  35. oh man, I can see how SocialGalactic is going to make SJWs cringe.
    Bring it on! :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. It seems more responsive than gab. But like gab, it doesn't provide an overview. Yes, a good social app should be mostly self explanatory. But what is the deck? What's the basis for Local and Global? Is it parsing the location in the profile?

That's how it starts. But keep in mind, you want the infrastructure in place BEFORE Twitter and rest come crashing down. And who knows, maybe it will catch on before that happens. In the meantime, it'll make a good right wing hangout.

Congrats to Vox for making this happen.

Yeah, it wasn't intuitive. Edit your profile, then in the top banner, click on the down-arrow to view your cloud. (Then right-click on an image and select delete from the context menu, but that part is easy to figure out, once you get there.)

    ReplyDelete
  41. pyrrhus wrote:Something went wrong, what does the field at the end "valid email" mean...It wouldn't accept my email.

Ignore the field label. (It's unrelated, probably a judgement of the email you entered.) Just solve the presented problem.

  43. Looks great! I started an account as @joke. It's a free account because I'm a broke homeless girl with an IQ of 85 so I can't afford nice stuff.

I am looking forward to participating though. I never managed to keep a twitter account for very long. Twitter banned me a few dozen times under a few dozen handles. Weird. I have the worst luck with SJWs.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Is OneWay open source or did they just give you a license/copy to set up here?

    ReplyDelete

    You bastards!

    ReplyDelete
  46. So a few people here evidently like some of my videos. If so, maybe you could take a few minutes and watch this one. Thanks. And thank you Vox for SocialGalactic. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Much easier on the eyes than twitter

    ReplyDelete
  52. Note that if you're in the EU, you're not going to be able to use it until we can resolve the GDPR compliance issue. That's an obvious SJW attack vector.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Anyone who wants to help out or eventually start their own node of OneWay should read this article about Mastodon. It has some very good details about how and why that network turned on itself. Lots of lessons learned to get ahead of the SJWs.

  57. 7139 I filled in the username, email, and password twice. But there’s no enter..or go button..?

    ReplyDelete
  58. The last field at the bottom is the CAPTCHA field. Add the two numbers on the left and enter the sum. Only about half the register button then is visible at the bottom of the iPhone but that should be enough to get in.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Rick. Do you have your screen magnified or zoomed?

    ReplyDelete
  60. The site does not play nice with zoom or magnification features in some browsers

    ReplyDelete
  61. @65

It's just that I'm a little retard with things like implicit rules

Use the golden rule. If it would make you mad to hear a black talking about whites the way you see or think about talking about them, it's probably racist.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I'm from the EU and was able to sign up no problem. I also noticed a bug. The avatar and header images don't use up the 1mb storage. If you upload an avatar then go to your media tab and delete the image the avatar stays on your profile and the storage space is freed up.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Wuzzums, your access will be removed in a few hours. The update hasn't fully propagated yet.

  66. 7139, Nate, — thanks. There’s no captcha that I see. Maybe I need a phone newer than v6. I think it’s chopping it off. I don’t have any zoom set. I’ll try on a desktop tomorrow. Thanks guys

Looking forward to seeing how this goes. Never used twitter or fb, and have no intention of touching either with a barge pole.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Couldn’t see or scroll to the CAPTCHA field and buttons at the sign-up screen on my iPhone either. Wasn’t a zoom or screen orientation issue and it behaved the same with both the default Safari browser and Chrome on iOS 12. Suspect it might be a physical screen size issue- I have the iPhone SE, which is physically the same size as my old 5s.

No issues at all signing up from my PC of course.

I want the content 98% of the time, so the right and left 20% each giving me trending or whom to follow (why should I follow pqlamz? I don't know), I can't trace users there to here (some might be the same person but spelled differently).

  89. Congratulations! Lots if success! One thing: Should the math question nit be a little more difficult to stop the lower classes from joining the country club?

    ReplyDelete
  90. Do you have an idea when us EU peasants will be able to join?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Not at this point. Could be never. We'll have to have a lawyer take a serious look at GDPR. Then we'll know what it takes, do we need data protection officers, and so forth. There is a chance that the simplest thing is to just block EU altogether (I will of course have backdoor access). We shall see.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Just a heads up, I'm going by this handle now going forward on both platforms.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Even many very large American news agencies have just completely blocked all access from EU. About every third or fourth link to an article gives me the familiar notice about not serving EU customers. The fact that even they have had to take this approach is not very promising.

EU appears to have erected the Great Firewall of EU faster than China ever did.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Please note that this time I have had nothing to do with either the design or the code. So, don't give me any credit for this one.

    ReplyDelete
  95. When you log into Blogger it gives an EU notice.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Yes, but that notice is only a small part of it. Blogger can afford to have the bureaucracy required to allow access, and just nag you with the notice. You still need to comply with the entirety of GDPR and it's so complicated that there are companies whose whole business is to explain it to you.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Wow. What's that phrase again.... the bureaucracy is expanding to meet the needs of the expanding bureaucracy, I think. Are you working on compliance if you're not doing the design?

    ReplyDelete
  98. No, I'm just a moderator. But since I've had to think about GDPR myself, I tipped Vox off that this is going to be an obvious attack vector for SJWs and it's best to plug it right from the start.

    ReplyDelete
  99. There's always going to be some Soros-paid troll who will spend all his waking hours trying to find some small mistake somewhere in GDPR compliance. Better to just shut it down. Like the--

    ReplyDelete
  100. Well, I've been proposing another set of viking invasions into Europe. I know it's a silly idea, but once you pay the Danegeld you are never rid of the Dane. We'll just go raiding in the spring, scare a bunch of people and there will be no time for EU ish.

In short, there's always troll hunters.

    ReplyDelete
  101. If the burn unit funds IG, the SG is free. Including free of advertisements. I like this. The ads on Twitter are pretty annoying - they’re always pushing a message (thought control) primarily, with pushing a product secondarily (if at all).

With SG being free (no ads, no paid subscription) this must present some interesting legal advantage over Twitter, I imagine. Like an immunity necklace.

I heard rumors once upon a time that there was a small time scheme going to “sell” copies of music tapes by not selling them. Instead the seller gave the tape away by placing it in a paper bag and selling the bag for five bucks. The tag on the bag said “free tape inside.”

I don’t know if it’s true but I thought it was a pretty good joke anyway.

    Wink wink, nudge nudge.

    ReplyDelete
  102. There will be paid subscriptions, they're just not set up yet.

    ReplyDelete
  103. How about accessing SG via VPN? From the EU.

    ReplyDelete
  104. For legal reasons I can't comment on what would happen if you did that. But if someone were to be deceitful about not being an EU citizen, and then try to file a complaint, we would have to pursue that aggressively.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Already like it better and have used it more than Gab and it's only been up for a day.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I sympathize, but this really needs to be plugged right now.

    ReplyDelete

  120. so this is like Gab but without the Juggalo Nationalists?

    ReplyDelete
  121. After listening to your Darkstream "Why we shut down SocialGalactic 1.0" and hearing the bit about conservatives wanting to complain more about Wikipedia than use the alternatives, I can't help but think this is due to the sheer presence of wikipedia. Wikipedia is shoved in your face whenever the you type something into Google, in contrast, you have to go out of your way to seek out or bookmark InfoGalactic.

Google sadly has the right idea in that what ties their leftist controlled wikipedia, social platforms and even their news together is the presence of a search engine. It is both the glue that binds them together, the roads that are presented to the user. If all roads lead to Rome, then all mainstream information hubs lead to Google so to speak.

What I believe InfoGalatic and SocialGalactic need is something similar. A search engine that also serves as a home page for web browsers. Searches should bring up IG in the same way Google tosses wikipedia in your face. Perhaps DuckDuckGo can be utilized, or a new right wing needs to form. Easier said than done, but I believe this is critical for both platforms to reach critical mass.

    Cheers.
