Announcing UNAUTHORIZED

Owen Benjamin, Vox Day, David the Good, and Infogalactic are pleased to announce UNAUTHORIZED.TV.

The Intellectual Outlaws of the Internet

Daily streams and premium content from the most intelligent, the most outrageous, and the most innovative minds on the planet.

Hours of free content every single day!

We launched this a little sooner than we'd planned, due to the fact that YouTube demonetized the Big Bear yesterday afternoon. But we already have over one hundred hours of content, including the Darkstreams, Voxiversities, and Owen's shorts and live shows.

The premium content is coming soon, but there is no real difference between the $10 Basic subscription and the $25 Premium monthly subscriptions, it's just about how much support you're willing and able to offer the channel. Most of the content is, and will remain, free. The $5 Feed the Bear subscription is a replacement for Owen's YouTube memberships and primarily supports the Big Bear.

There is beta streaming functionality already built into UNAUTHORIZED, so I will do a subscribers-only stream test today to see how it works. If possible, I'll also test it with Restream to see if simultaneous streaming is an option.

Awesome!

YouTube was the last Google property I was still using and over 90% of that was for content you've moved to UNATHORIZED.TV.

Thank you!

Blogger 2Bfree March 16, 2019 8:56 AM

Looks good, but to be more than a very small niche site, gonna have to open it up to other video types and allow people to upload for free.

I use youtube mostly for how to videos and reviews of Dual Sport Motorcycle rides, products, and events that the MSM and commercial magazines don't cover.

I believe to be an effective tool, we're going to have to allow cute puppy video's and how-to's in addition to strong intellectual content.

Blogger James Dixon March 16, 2019 9:03 AM

> Looks good, but to be more than a very small niche site, gonna have to open it up to other video types and allow people to upload for free.

I'm pretty sure that's not the goal. This isn't a youtube replacement. We already have that with bitchute. This is a non-cucked competitor to things like Blaze TV.

Blogger VD March 16, 2019 9:06 AM

You have completely failed to understand what we're doing. It's not about the site, it's about the content. We will never open the channel up to other video types or allow people to upload for free.

Why on Earth would we want to imitate YouTube's massively money-losing business model? UNAUTHORIZED is a content network that will be available on many different sites, it is not a destination site.

Blogger James Dixon March 16, 2019 9:17 AM

> UNAUTHORIZED is a content network that will be available on many different sites

So in addition to the individual subscriber base, you'll be offering the content to other sites for their use? That sounds like a potentially good business model. Essentially porting the TV network model to the Internet.

Blogger Gregory the Great March 16, 2019 9:18 AM

Exactly the right answer to Owen's demonetization!! Youtube is nice for easy switching between Darkstreams, music and advice on how to repair your coffee maker. I see your new site as a way of monetizing anybody who wants to share videos through it or has few other options than sharing them through it.

Blogger VD March 16, 2019 9:27 AM

Good point, Franz. We'll look into it.

Blogger InformationMerchant March 16, 2019 9:40 AM

@2 They definitely shouldn't open it up to anyone for free.

They also don't have to replace youtube, like socialgalactic doesn't have to replace all of twitter. Big social messes with everyone. Think of it more like dating websites. Originally everyone went on two or three generic massive sites, but now there's a dating site for people with X religion/interest/ethnicity/etc.

This is looking a bit like Floatplane, which is a subscriber only site that has content from half a dozen (it's still in alpha) tech Youtube channels. It's better than relying on Patreon and Youtube, but livestreams still get streamed to Floatplane, Youtube and Twitch at once, aside from some exclusives the videos end up on Youtube a couple of weeks later. It's not designed to replace Youtube.

That said, the above example is run by Canadians and their risk of being deplatformed as close to 0 as possible as their content is normie apolitical content.

I do appreciate the alt-tech attempts to give people big alternatives to Youtube, Patreon, etc. I think the more targeted approach is the better one though. We saw with Social Galactic and Gab that it's much better to have the content that you want than try to replace twitter for everyone.

Blogger InformationMerchant March 16, 2019 9:45 AM

Nice url by the way.

Blogger Stilicho March 16, 2019 9:45 AM

I checked it out. Nice design, intuitive layout, easy to find content you're looking for. Video loads and plays better/faster than youtube and I don't have to deal with stupid ads and suggestions that come from youtube tracking my every keystroke. The content, of course, is simply excellent and having the various livestreams available on demand in a single site is very convenient for the unbearable dread ilk. I will suscribe.

Blogger Azimus March 16, 2019 9:48 AM

This is awesome! So glad to be able to stick a thumb in the eye of youtube.

also if you're going to use one of the big browsers.. use Microsofts. Say what you want about them... Bing is just flat out better than Google for what most people need a search engine for. Shopping... local stores and services... images... Bing is way better that google at all of those things.

Blogger Nate March 16, 2019 10:24 AM

There are some awfully big youtubers that should be very interested in this service brother. Well done indeed.

No 32 bit Linux. :( I actually tried compiling it for 32 bits. The download process timed out after 24 hours or so and restarted from the beginning when you restarted.

Blogger James Dixon March 16, 2019 10:30 AM

> There are some awfully big youtubers that should be very interested in this service brother.

Just as with Castalia House and Dark Legion, there are a lot of people out there who are looking for an honest platform. Probably more than Vox can handle.

Blogger VD March 16, 2019 10:32 AM

We'll have direct subscriptions for Voxiversity available soon again, but this is our backup plan for supporting that. There is a lot of infrastructure work being done behind the scenes which is necessary due to the instability inherent in working with the big SJW platforms.

Blogger sammibandit March 16, 2019 10:33 AM

I really like how easy it was to sign up. I can even change my cc info quicker than on PayPal when it eventually expires. The timing was excellent since so many bears already budgeted for the membership. Just a great morale booster all around. Kudos, gentlemen.

I am sure Vox and his lieutenants will find a way of scaling the operation.

Blogger The Deuce March 16, 2019 11:15 AM

VD:

UNAUTHORIZED is a content network that will be available on many different sites, it is not a destination site.

Does this mean videos and streams won't be hosted on the server itself like YouTube, but rather it will work as a navigation and payment hub for video hosted in other locations that are networked in somehow?

Blogger James Dixon March 16, 2019 11:33 AM

> I am sure Vox and his lieutenants will find a way of scaling the operation.

Like Castalia House, Vox will probably want to keep this operation focused. If it's successful, you'll see a lot of copycat operations spring up.

For me, it puts content behind a tech-wall.

I have an app that converts YouTube or Vimeo, etc. into an MP3 which I can listen to, and Timeshift itself handles video. I use Timeshift to listen at 2-3x normal speed with pitch correction.

Now it is in a captive video player portal, I can't even download the video as file, and it is much bigger even though most are static images or a talking head, so I'm only interested in the audio. It doesn't have speed controls so it is only 1x only.

And some of the site doesn't appear to work. I assume selecting one of the lower boxes is supposed to displace the player with that video but that isn't working. When I pause it doesn't resume. That might be my internet, but it also seems to be requring a lot of activity behind the scenes.

Blogger LP916 March 16, 2019 11:45 AM

Wonderful soo cool news, congratulations!

Blogger VD March 16, 2019 11:52 AM

Correct me if I'm wrong here VD. Socialgalactic was a mastodon instance. And Unauthorized is a ustream channel.

You're wrong on both counts.

Now, get off your Secret Throne. No one asked for your opinion. I don't give a flying rodent's posterior about Adam Curry's advice and I can assure you that Owen doesn't care in the least what you think he would excel at.

What exactly did you do in preparation for Owen's demonetizing? What have you done in preparation for anyone's deplatforming? Nothing at all, right? So, why don't you shut the fuck up and stop trying to tell the people who actually anticipate these things and take action ahead of time how you would do things if you ever actually did anything?

Fucking gammas. Every single fucking time.

I have an app that converts YouTube or Vimeo, etc. into an MP3 which I can listen to, and Timeshift itself handles video. I use Timeshift to listen at 2-3x normal speed with pitch correction.

No one asked you. Literally no one.

Look, gammas, you REALLY need to learn to SHUT THE FUCK UP at times like these. We made an announcement. Literally the VERY LAST THING that any of us want to hear in response is your opinion about what could have or should have been done instead. And if you think I'm being harsh, you should hear what others are saying about your stereotypical reactions.

When we want advice on how things can be improved, and we will, then we will ask for it. And then you can opine to your heart's content... and then we may even listen. Because we sure as Hell won't now.

I understand you guys think you are helping somehow. And I am telling you that you are not. So knock it off.

Blogger Dave March 16, 2019 12:10 PM

Exciting news. Big Bear was just yesterday talking about his "European Tour" and which countries he might be appearing in. Also his book he's working on that Castalia will be publishing sounds very interesting. You can see Owen's really getting into the book writing and gearing up for taking the family with him to Europe.

Hopefully we'll be able to live stream his comedy shows on Unauthorized TV when it happens.

Blogger Avalanche March 16, 2019 12:12 PM

I use a little program to DL the vids off YouTube and convert to MP3, so I can listen a couple times without being tied to the computer. Will I still be able to download / copy / extract the DarkStreams and Voxiversities? (I mean, I can still use YT for now, but when they throw you entirely off? Will there be some availability at UATV?)

I currently send $5 a month (via PayPal?) to support Voxiversity: Is switching over to Unauthorized the right move / best move for supporting you now?

You don't need to. You can just DL the MP3 from Podbean. We have the option to permit or turn off downloading.

No, just leave it for now. And thanks.

Blogger Adlow March 16, 2019 12:24 PM

Congratulations on Unauthorized, Vox.

The unprofitability of YouTube and all other video hosting services makes me wonder if the future of video isn't a network of individual sites hosting their own content. For example, after you watch a video on one website, recommendations of similar videos on other websites appear. This would cut down on servers costs, since all you would really need to centrally host is an index of all the videos out there--it would basically be a decentralized YouTube.

Does anyone know of a video format that allows this kind of indexing, or if it's a feasible medium- to long-term solution?

Seldom am I so pleased as to see this new development.

There is a growing culture of "do something" instead of the cuckservative culture of getting screwed and complaining about not getting a reach-around. It's a long road with decades of conditioning to undo. Vox is showing the way.

Commenters: But I want this other thing. I've put no thought into this, but here's how you should do it. I consume videos in this oddly specific way, you should make your product compatible with that.

Is Vox honestly the only man of the right who builds working platforms? Sometimes I feel like lurking here is like watching the spearhead of the culture war at work. No one else seems to make it as far when they try to build things, IF they try to build things at all.

Slightly O/T, would it be inappropriate to join Infogalactic if one has low tech competency but would still like to pitch in on the content front? I've edited Wikipedia articles in the past and could help update or fill in gaps.

That answers my question but there seems to be an issue with the HTML being inserted in the description.

Blogger JAG March 16, 2019 2:41 PM

Crew wrote:@51: OK, it seems to be to support the content creators ... is that the case or does it give you access to premium content?

It's to help the content creators such as Owen when the evil ones deplatform them. Most of the content is free because Vox is a generous Dark Lord who understands that some people may not have a lot of disposable cash on hand, but are still moral support for the non-SJW side of the culture war.

Vox, I use a text to speech converter to transcribe your videos, run them through Google to translate into Gaelic, then convert to Morse code, encoded in SID files that I listen to on my homebrew portable Amiga.

Why won't your new channel support this?

It really is.

Even if I didn't believe in his mission, and even if I didn't put my money on his mission, I would come here to keep up on things. And outside of his projects, Vox's predictions are always worth reading and heeding. Not 100% but a far better success rate than a meteorologist or MLB hitter, to paraphrase Ted Williams.

And because Big Bear is free with his content. He sells hour-long specials of his shows, and gives those same specials away for free so that the less well off can enjoy them.

I wasn't interested in supporting Google with the members only chat on Youtube, but I think it's time to feed the bear.

Support your frontline tanks. Thanks Vox, Owen.

Question: if I want to contribute $5/mo to the general project rather than directly to big bear, will there be an option for that or for lower tier support like $1/mo (non-premium, of course) in the future or will $10 be the minimum?

If payment processing on small amounts is the limiting factor, where can I send $15 for the year just to get in a little support outside of the subscription channel?

Blogger Frank Lee March 16, 2019 6:06 PM

Absolutely brilliant.

And you're right. You don't want to compete with You Tube by allowing free uploads for the unwashed. You Tube needs to worry about competing with you.

As they used to say in Hollywood before the SJW's took over: It's content, content, content.

If You Tube doesn't allow programming like Owen, a fair percentage of people will just stop going to it and go to your channel instead. And then they will find new videos by others that also appeal to them. And once that happens, You Tube will have a typical SJW spiral downward. You Tube only works if it is the one place to go where someone can get EVERYTHING. Once it's just a collection of junk and SWJ approved videos, it's over.

Please, please tell me Milo will be joining with premium content.

Initial reaction is that the site looks great. The videos load faster and seem to be of a higher quality than YouTube. I paid with PayPal for now, but if they are charging more to the recipients than a straight credit card payment, I will reconsider. There is also always a risk of PayPal cutting you guys off. Vox, one thing I gleaned from the site but wasn’t entirely clear on was that there may be a Roku app coming - is that correct? That would be big for me. Lastly I just want to say THANK YOU for being proactive in the face of adversity. Many on our side could learn a lot from you guys.

Blogger Gareth March 17, 2019 4:10 AM

Ok so after watching a bit here’s my 2c.

1) I miss not being able to close an app like I can with YouTube and keep it playing in the background.

2) commensurate with that, why not have a “radio” (sound only) option for the car. I pretty much only listen to you tube stuff in the car with the screen off, of course. That would save data for me and you.

Thoughts?

Blogger The Kurgan March 17, 2019 6:27 AM

Do watch the darkstream entitled Gamma World. About 17 times.
And realise Vox made that whole darkstream JUST FOR YOU! Because you’re so special.
Tell all your friends about it too.
Never forget: you’re special.

Blogger Silent Draco March 17, 2019 6:55 AM

Subscribed last night. Began watching this morning; no problems with any videos loading or playing in Brave. Volume problems with Owen, but that's a BIG Bear with a Big Sound.

Agree with ability to play back at 1.5 or 2x speed.

Ability to bookmark a video (pause and close, resume later at same point) would be helpful. The Darkstreams and Bear feeds are long, and the ability to view in shorter sessions can fit schedules better.

For Favorites, I can tag a main library entry (e.g., Darkstream). I want to tag individual videos in a library entry (e.g., Gamma World in the list of Darkstreams) as favorite, and add to my favorites collection. Makes it easier to sift and find favorites or quick references.

Just subscribed. Great to see another backup platform seeing the light. Feature request: don't sent passwords around in emails.

Here are some ideas I think would be an awesome addition to unauthorized: The Thunderbolts project and the Safire Project, both of which are closely related. They involve space science in the real sense, relying on actual experimentation and taking ideas from Velikovski and Tesla and expanding on them, decidedly deviating from established science. I think you will find them very interesting, and hope you will see these projects as well worthy of the channel. Also, what may be of interest is the addition of bombards body language, which title is pretty self explanatory. Thank you!

DtG's going to have more unsolicited flip-flop pics than he's going to know what to do with!

Looking forward to supporting and checking out Unauthorized. Alternative platforms are sorely needed. Thanks VD for all you do!
